A good night for us. Dunfermline using up their game in hand and not making a dent on our eight point advantage.

A shame being overtaken again by Ayr but the first priority is to secure fourth place and we are a step closer to that.

Any  minuscule or remote hope ended after drawing against Falkirk / being beat by County. 

it would have been a miracle if we won this league with everything taken into consideration

Somewhat off topic, but there’s a cracking relegation contest at the other end of the table, 5 teams in it.

Playoffs could be guaranteed as early as next Tuesday night. 

Only 5 points required to secure a play off spot (poss 4 given GD).

Lets hope we can secure asap so some players can get a rest and some of the younger lads some game time as we will need everyone ready given the number of fixtures over a short period.

Looking at the remaining fixtures for Ayr they may not pick up many more points this month so we could pip them for 3rd!

There sure is.  Alloa's 3 wins in a row have certainly made things interesting.  Our promotion play off place is far from guaranteed and if Dunfermline make up a bit of ground on Ayr and us we might go into the final round of games with no club definitely staying in the championship next season.  The play offs certainly keep the interest going. Mind you, in the English league one relegation battle where there are no play-offs with only 5 games to go only 6 points separate 13th from 23rd with 3 of those sides going down.

Pretty sure Robbo said the hopes of the title were gone, back in January.

Realistically, it was either County or United that were in real contention for the trophy, and had last night's result gone against County, United would still be in with a shout.

County, 4 games left, can finish with a maximum of 72 pts. United, also 4 games left, can finish with a max of 68 pts.

So County have to lose or draw their remainder of Games, and United have to win at least two to put them top of the table come end of the season.

Yup the other Thistle are in real peril of successive relegation and Falkirk, with their resources and fan base are huge under achievers. Can you imagine the moaning on this site if we were in either of their positions.

Two wins from the remaining four and we're in the play-offs, Dunfermline mathematically can't then catch us so in the same way that C*unty have the league in their own hands so do we in terms of play-off qualification.

Even better if Dunfermline dropped points to help us along the way.

Obviously the aim is to win all four and keep pressure on Ayr and we could do with a 3rd place finish for the extra income but if you asked Robbo what his aim was I'm sure he would say finishing in the top four was priority.

We've done well under the circumstances to be in this position, it's a very easy league to get out of - at the bottom!

Given we have 29 points from 16 away games and only 20 from 16 home games, 4th is probably our best option.

We are Ayr’s bogey team so a draw at home in the first leg then an away win.....

We also have a decent record against United, so same again!

Then all to play for against Hamilton, St Mirren or Dundee. 

I may be being optimistic, but who knows!!

As you say, without being complacent, there is every ground for optimism.

Assuming we fend off Dunfermline for at least fourth spot we have no need to fear either Ayr or United over two legs and whichever Championship side reaches the final stands a sporting chance against the second worse team in a pretty mediocre Premiership.

Add the excitement of tomorrow's semi final and it's the best time to be an ICT fan in at least three years. Robbo doesn't get enough credit for what he has achieved with limited resources and a sometimes inept board of directors.

Following Ayr's game last night their form is now 7 points out of the last 24 available. If it's them we'll face in the playoffs (looking likely) let's hope they keep up that form!

A disappointing day at Hampden but a good day for us from a league point of view. Dunfermline losing at home against Falkirk puts us within touching distance of a play off place.

What on earth has happened to Queen of the South ? They are in free fall. Half way through the season they looked a very good bet for at least a play off place and now they are at real risk of relegation.

A point on Tuesday confirms the play off place ?. 

Once playoffs are confirmed we must rest players...we don't have the depth that Dundee Utd have. 

Good chance for the young lads to prove themselves in senior games.

They would also need a very significant turnaround in goal difference. A point would almost certainly be enough in practical terms.

But as we are one of the teams they still have to play a 3 nil win is 6 goals in goal difference. So a win is the only way to guarantee it.

Glad we are in the promotion race and not the relegation race. That is looking absolutely brutal.

Which is why Morton are likely to be such dangerous opponents on Tuesday. We can't afford any sort of semi final hangover if we are going to take anything from this fixture.

It may be a nightmare from the point of view of trying to sustain full time football on the finances available but it's a fascinating division from a competitive sporting point of view with each and every one of the ten teams either vying for promotion or battling relegation with only four games to go.

I hope there's enough frustration and anger boiling up inside the lads to help them throw in a good performance and get the three points against Morton. Securing top four at the first possible opportunity is paramount and I'm sure that'll be the message from Robbo. 

We want the last three games of the season to be used to blood the youngsters and get them some game time and to allow other players a rest.

We also need to keep pressure on Ayr as the last thing we want is for them to gain some momentum before going into a play-off tie, we've already got the measure of them and need to keep it that way.
