Jambo here. Just had to register to post support for Terry Butcher. Tremendous that a such a high profile character has the balls to speak out so passionately about this ridiculous 10 team folly. Hope he gets some public support from the other clubs. 10 teams will be a disaster.3 points

After listening to Terry's passionate and courageous speech I know there may be a backlash from the indolent frogs sitting on their toadstools in the SFA buildings or wherever. They will try to hurt him and to shut his mouth..No chance of the latter I can assure them and I can also assure them that he has now has plenty of support from the real heart of Scottish Football -the fans who pay their money to watch the game. Just in case Terry gets fined by these hypocrites in GlASGOW I AM WILLINGB TO SEND 50 POUNDS TO PUT INTO A FUND TO SUPPORT TERRY IF 50% OF ALL THE MEMBERS OF THIS WEBSITE ARE WILLING TO DO THE SAME. If we could get it up to 75% that would be fantastic and 100% would ensure that we could also hire a Lawyer to support him against the arrogance and self-serving attitudes of these dinosaurs to ensure that he continues to speak his mind, state the truth and make REAL Change in Scottish Football. Let's hear your voices all supporters of Inverness Caley Thistle and other clubs. Scarlet.2 points

Sutherland isn't fit to speak Terry's name IMO. The sooner we're rid of him, the better.2 points

I have no questions for him as I believe he has neither the integrity or intelligence to answer them honestly or with any degree of capability.2 points

As a Celtic supporter who has long admired Inverness Caley Thistle's efforts to promote the game in the North (honest) I applaud Terry Butcher's comments on the BBC interview. I have yet to meet anyone who thinks the 10 team league is a positive step - well I have met one guy, but he is a contrary individual who would argue against anything for the sake of it . We should be trying to support the efforts of teams like ICT, Ross County etc, but also to help the likes of Dundee, Dunfermline, Raith Rovers, Q.o. S. and Morton to get back to a place where they can at least compete in the way that Caley Thistle are doing this season.2 points

Absolute LEGEND. Terry for Pope, Prime-Minister, President, Arch Bishop of Canterbury, King, etc, etc...2 points

count me in. ?50 well spent if necessary. Will be interesting to see what happens here. Whatever transpires Terry is an absolute legend.2 points

Mega respect for TB regarding that interview. In my opinion he was 100% correct in everything he said. While were on the subject of respect I have to admire and take my hat off to all the fans that made the two trips down at this time of the year for the last two matches. I felt like an impostor as my total travel for both games was an measly 58 miles. Still I'm home now and enjoying a rather nice malt to console myself for a match that I thought we could have won or more fairly drawn. Rangers were there for the taking in my humble opinion.2 points

Terry has to be the best manager in the word! He speaks right from the heart and really cares about caley! THE ONLY TRUE FOOTBALLING LEGEND2 points

Absolutely, as removing a couple of letters from the name is the best option for those that remain.[1] It will also help to soften the blow for those that are forcibly removed.[2] Furthermore, it benefits all letters throughout Scotland.[3] [1] Don't ask, it just is. [2] Don't ask, it just will. [3] Don't ask, it just does.1 point

Think the football establishment are now ganging up on Terry. Its coming over that ICT are only against this to protect our own interests and not the good of Scottish football.Well what do they think the old firm are doing? As a season ticket holder I want a successful caley jags first and foremost and if that means looking after our interests well so be it.Think it would maybe have been better if DS had not said anything really. Lastly enjoyed the bit where the Killie chairman all but called Doncaster a liar on air especially over the way this is being done but then he spoiled it by saying that the discussions should not be in the public domain. As Scotty posted yesterday football is nothing without the fans and I really feel a lot of these guys need reminding of this.1 point

You've got to applaud TB for his honesty and passion, I 100% agree with everything he said except the point about the split, it's awful and I would argue him on that point. It creates a ridiculous imbalance that no one likes. I've just came off the phone to my bro who is a Rangers fan and he applauds TB for everything that he said and agreed with the point he made about other teams not wanting ICT in the league due to the geography of Inverness, he did say that there were the odd few fans on the FollowFollow website that slated TB but they missed the point that he was aiming his displeasure at the SPL and not Rangers in relation to the rescheduled game last night, a point which he vigorously argued on their board in favour of TB. It's good to know that his interview has been received so well amongst all fans across the Scottish spectrum but just a shame that there are a few that can't see passed their own negative views. I have not long switched off the radio listening to open all mics and the debate they were having and I have to say that the Hamilton chairman (I forgot his name the minute he started slagging us off and won't give him the time to google him to find it out) but how far from the truth can you be. He completely missed the point that TB was making by using us as an example of what will happen if three teams go down and rather decided to have a pop at the club by intimating that by being further up the table we didn't now care about lower down teams and the further up the league you get the worse the people get, listen to the interview you idiot, please don't put us in this bracket and actually take in what was said. It would be interesting to see what your view point would be if you were sitting 5th in the league with 28 points just now rather than bottom with relegation staring you in the face!!!!1 point

Obviously havent seen or heard any footage but that was my immediate thought .... Say what you like about him, but he is not a stupid man. Velvet glove, Iron Fist springs to mind !!! He's as entitled to his opinion of his preferred format the same way as any of us are. We can agree or disagree with him as that is our choice but there have been a few posts in various threads this afternoon that amount to somewhat of a character assassination. Lets wind it in a bit with the overly personal stuff please. I would also respectfully disagree that he is motivated by greed !!! If he was, then his greed gene must have fallen out as he entered the doors at the TCS ! He has put far more into the club both publicly and privately, and at crucial times, than he has ever got back or is ever likely to. Yes it gives him a louder voice than the rest of us but it doesnt give him a profitable return on his bank balance which ultimately he must want if he is greedy like you say ! He may be ruthless in his other business ventures, but where ICT is concerned he has used that ruthlessness and business savvy to get us through a few difficult times with no return other than higher profile or good (and sometimes bad) PR.1 point

Perhaps some inflatable wine bottles would be the ideal thing to show support for/agreement with Butchers statement.1 point

Although i don't agree with what Terry said about 'if it ain't broke', surely what we've got is much better than what that douchebag doncaster is proposing so fair point Tel. Who employed this idiot to be in charge of the spl?! I would like to think that the vote will go against his proposals anyway but wether a new plan is written up or not the priority has to be to have somebody who cares about the future of the Scottish game to be running our leagues. DONCASTER CAN AWAY AND SH1TE.1 point

I think it is the time for all the Trusts to co-ordinate and arrange a protest. If ever there was a time for them to prove their usefulness now is it. With an AGM at such an opportune time surely the SPL and Butchers comments should be pretty much the only topic on the discussion?!1 point
-
We have the Supporters Trust which comes under the larger umbrella of Supporters Direct who are the ones who put together, distributed, collated and presented the findings of the recent fans survey - full results of the survey can be hound HERE Supporters Direct in Scotland alone...... 34 Supporters' Trusts £3.5 million investment in football clubs 15,000 members approx. 25 Trusts with shares in their football club 14 Directors on Football Club Boards 300 Volunteer Directors 2 Re-formed Clubs (Clydebank FC & Gretna 2008 FC) 5 clubs saved for their communities due to supporters' trust interventions (Clyde, Dundee, Falkirk, Morton and Raith Rovers) That's a fairly impressive CV and one that continues to grow. As you can see, a vehicle definitely exist for the fans to get/add to the voice of influence they seek.....they just need to sign up and start making use of it via the Supporters Trusts attached to their individual teams. ICT Supporters Trust have their AGM tomorrow night (see stickied post) and new members are welcome to join on the night. Following that they will be having their regular football forum which will have a panel that includes Jonny Hayes and Lee Cox. Peter Murphy, Chairman of the Trust, has also agreed to sit on the panel and will hopefully be able to answer a few questions from what came out of his recent discussion with Neill Doncaster. I know the Trust aren't looking for the discussion forum on the night to be dominated by this subject, but I'm sure that if the need/want exists then they will look to hold a separate open meeting on the matter at some point in the near future.1 point

Hi Youngy (or is it Troy McClure ?) ... your post reminds me of the Simpsons !!! "You might remember me from such campaigns as ....." Sorry for the skepticism, but there are lots of petitions going around right now, lots of facebook pages, lots of un-coordinated and separate little campaigns .... wondering how this one will be any different.1 point

Also, if he gets a but ratty after a bottle of red, and goes on a John McClane style rampage, bottling and chibbing all the weak SPL chairmen whom voted against their publicly stated intentions in such a manner, that even FIFA executives were embarrassed, we should all do a week each of his sentence.1 point

Dont think he has enough goals in him, he has not exactly been prolific elsewhere. He cetainly would be a presence up front though.1 point

Adams took over the only full time team in SFL2 whilst they were at the top end of the table, possibly even top, and got them promoted. That was the bare minimum he should have done. Aside from the Cup run County have been well down the league apart from maybe one 5th placed finish last season. Even this season, when he left, they were about 8th and this was despite big investment in getting players in to the club. Yes the Cup run has been fantastic for them but overall they haven't really moved forward in terms of where they are in the league.1 point

I thought Rangers played us well last night, allowing us a fair bit of possession but never the space to do much with it. Our line-up was pleasantly surprising and Sanchez and Odhiambo came out of the block like two players who don't have many chances left. Eric looked far more comfortable playing wide right and it would nice to see him get a run there until Hayes is fit but Sanchez faded, ran up too many blind alleys and really needs to track back more if he wants to play in this team. We look far more fluent with Nick Ross playing deep with Duff rather than two out and out holders, though once again, it's very harsh on Russell Duncan. He must be the most dropped player in our history. The back 4 was solid once again - Rosscoe is always heroic in these games. We're on a bad run but we've lost none of our spirit and organisation, we just need to find the right blend in attack.1 point
-
Hail the new Messiah!! Well done, TB.... Delivering speeches like that it's not hard to see how you get our boys well and truly fired up with your team talks. The SPL will now seriously have to completely rethink their league reconstruction plans. Keep it up old son....you're not just putting not just Caley Thistle on the map, but the City of Inverness as well. :twothumbsup:1 point

How lucky are we, a wee diddy club!, to have this guy as our manager? Am always impressed when he speaks anyway but tonight surpasses all my expectations. Brilliant.1 point

and we thought that his rant about the game was good this interview was absolute gold and i hope that the spl will do the sensible thing and leave it be. this country has a right to freedom of speech and that is what terry is utilising so the spl can go **** themselves if they want to punish him1 point

I hope we get a decent turn out on Saturday for the Hamilton game and I would expect a very lound rendition of there's only one Terry Butcher. He's not only being appreciated by our fans but also by most of the fans in Scotland. Even the Hamilton fans might join in.1 point

Also ... if he does then Mr Lennon better get some sanctions too !!!!!1 point

Gentlemen, Please! To stop the stream of income flowing into the club when the club's top officials, e.g Mr George Fraser and Mr T. Butcher, are making waves and putting their comments where their mouth is, would be extremely unfair to them and counter-productive to the health of the club. So long as you pay your entrance fee to allow the club to survive you will be doing the right thing. After that, any legal protest you want to organise is perfect. Here is another thought for you to mull over ---if the fans of Caley Thistle withdraw their financial support then you will simply play into the hands of the people in Scottish Football who tried to stop the club from progressing from the lower leagues into the Spl and may still have that as a hidden agenda. Why? Maybe they hate to travel North and get beaten for their pains by what they would still like to see as a Highland League outfit. And I, for one, would put nothing past them....!! These rotten sods tried every negative dirty trick in the book to put Caley Thistle down and deserve a kick up the backside for it which , of course, is what ICT did to them by makiing such phenomenal progress as they have done to date--giving these characters the finger in no uncertain way. Neil Doncaster has recently taken over his new job and obviously is going to toe the party line at this time so don't be too hard on him yet. If, for example, Terry Butcher had applied for the job, the SFA or whoever hired him would not have hired Terry because he thinks for himself and is one of independent thought --which is the last thing that these guys need or want at this or any other time. So does Doncaster have any choice at this time, folks? Come on!Of course not! He is clever with words but he is NOT a challenge to the established forces around him. Let's face it, any Executive who takes on his job with the attitude of these jerks all around him has a sorry road to travel at best. And he was not hired to try to Doncastrate them. With friends like these "top" officials in power, who needs enemies. He comes in at the right time for genuine change but the wrong time for him. I see him as a survivor though......able to bend with the prevailing wind.1 point

I have just finished writing to both Doncaster and Topping outlining my views on the 10 team league proposal and also asking why ICT had to travel over 300 miles tonight in the middle of January when there were other teams located closer who could have gone to Ibrox. As I was finishing the letters who came on the radio but Sir Terry. Brilliant interview, passionately put across. If anyone ever had doubts about Terry and Maurice's commitment to ICT and the town (city) of Inverness then just listen to this interview. Fantastic stuff.1 point

And, before I go to bed, the other question is ..."What part has the T.V. Revenue played in all this?" And..." If Mr George Fraser, who is a very shrewd business man, thinks that a 14 -team SPL was viable then what were the criteria and forces at work here that jockeyed the other rebels , or bullied them, into apparent submission. And, remember when the barstewards tried to prevent ICT from joining the SPL and forced us to go to Pittodrie to get our chance,we had a petition going on our webpage which garnered a lot of signatures and won the day. I think we should do it again and contact all the website forums of as many other clubs as possible to rally their support. As for boycotting? --not yet. That will only hurt George Fraser and the Club when they need our support the most. Wait until the Old Firm games come up and go to all the home matches but walk out after 20 minutes enmasse, as someone has suggested, and demonstrate outside the stadium peacefully to attract media atention and DO NOT GO AT ALL to Ibrox and Parkhead for every other match. Don't put a cent into the pockets of Rangers or Celtic .1 point
-
Not for the first time, Neil Doncaster chose to distort the truth - If Inverness, Hearts and Kilmarnock were in preference of 14, then not everyone is in agreement. Not yet anyway. We've slagged off our board enough over the years (often with good reason). How about a big thumbs up for George Fraser for supporting the view of the fans?1 point

So we weren't a good enough club for him yet Airdrie were. Oh well, see how he does at part time level. He may work his way up. I think its more like he wasn't good enough for us.1 point

Problem is SMEE,yer preaching to the converted, this subject has been flogged to death on here, and abody who has an opinion one way or the other, has aired it several times. He was on Sportsound a few days ago and would not directly answer any questions as to what he thought was the best way forward for Scottish football. I got the distinct impression he was in favour of a ten team set up. The David Sutherlands of this world are motivated entirely by greed.0 points

In a time when Highland council is to cut 70-80 teaching posts through the region, i was annoyed to read that Highland Council Taxpayers have been footing the bill of sending 27 pupils to the Gaelic School via taxi. This has cost £120 000. The Council has been paying for pupils from as far afield as Black Isle to get to and fro the school. Now...why is it, when the rest of the country suffers cuts, the Gaelic self preservation society contiinues to get money thrown at it left right and centre? If parents want to send their children to schools, they should cover the bill of getting the kids there! The langauage is dying on its arse...thats a fact....talk about flogging a dead horse!-1 points
