  1. Perhaps Rangers are confused, offering money to HMFC when it should be going to HMRC?

  2. Just spoke to my "mole" who reliably informs me that the plan is to play Graeme Shinnie in left midfield to compensate for the loss of Nick Ross and Sutherland will shortly be moved up front.

  3. Hmm yes quite George Brislen-Hall here, just signed for these Scottish chaps. If it doesn't work out at least I'll be closer to the grouse moors on the 12th. Quite.

  8. I have no view as to whether Salmond is personally "racist" (ie anti English) but I am sure that he gets that vote and, debatably, cultivates it. That's not to say that all people who vote SNP are, of course not. However it's not healthy to have a party that bases everything on 'it's all someone else's fault' though perhaps he's reduced that recently. I am a member of my local branch of the SNP and there are a few racist comments occasionally but they are quickly shot down and the culprit made to look foolish without alienating them. Many branch members are English. Personally I have some English blood in me and have no issue with anyone from outwith Scotland, it's the "English rule" I can't stomach for whoever we get in Westminster Scotland is only a geographical area. The people best placed to govern Scotland are the people in Scotland regardless of race for we are the ones who live here.

  9. Good to see another ex-ICT player get a call up to the full Scotland squad. Never happened when he was great for us, never happened when he was great for Hearts, but a couple of good performances for a 3rd division side in draws against Brechin and Peterhead and suddenly he's in!

  10. One poster said that it would be difficult for a new Manager to come in and do well if the team was down. At what other time would we expect the Manager to do well other than when the team was down? When the team is doing well all the Manager surely needs to do is hold the fort until he is settled-in and then gradually make the changes that he thinks is required to continue the improvement? Terry needs support and a fair chance to try out all his ideas and Rome was not built ina day. For goodness sake let's all get behind HIM and the team and stop the moaning and groaning. Try focussing on the positive aspects surrounding the club and not the negative ones right now.

  11. Bridge Ender/12th Man, I am taking on board what you are saying and I'd be the first to admit that we're not (yet) getting everything right with Caley Jags Together (Trust name is no more). We're very much in a period of transition right now and part of the process is dividing up the organisations activities and assigning directors to them with a view that they then recruit from the wider membership for assistance...so we're already moving along the road suggested in terms of getting more people involved and once these groups get a proper handle on what they are needing then we will be able to go out there with more specific requests from our side of things. I know the club are also looking at doing something similar and Caley Jags Together will have a more formal link in with that. There's a reason why we are where we are and why it proves so tough to get fan assistance. As frustrating as I sometimes find it I know it's not going to all be sorted over night and actually see it as a 3 to 5 year project to get back to anything like the "working together" culture we had pre-SPL when fans really did feel a part of the club instead of just feeling like a (poorly treated) customer. We all have a part to play in that, even without having to be asked, even if it's just sharing a story/post on Facebook/Twitter or acknowledging the positive changes from time to time. e.g. We've got 3 players who have been called up for international duty next weekend yet the threads on here about it have very little comment on them. That should be a big deal for the fans of any club and we should all be shouting about it every chance we get.

  16. Arbroath have shipped 15 goals in 7 competetive games this season so their defence is not good. I would expect the likes of Sutherland and Shinnie to look good against that kind of opposition. Neither looked good against Celtic so let's hope the performance against Arbroath gives them the confidence to dominate the Motherwell defence. One worry about Sutherland (a player who I have always liked by the way) is his ability to give goalkeeping practice to fans in row R rather than the opposition keeper. Keeping the ball down is a basic skill which he surely must practice in training. On match days I have seen him smash the ball into the back of the net during the warm ups but when it matters it usually goes over the bar. It's frustrating - he's capable of being a very good player indeed.

  17. My point was more about getting the Trust/CJT organised so that a pool people are in place to undertake projects before offers of help are made so situations where assumptions need to be made are avoided. Advertise for people to take ownership of specific projects who could then be called upon to do some regular tasks. I don't believe there isn't, for example, one ICT supporting tradesman/handyman in the Inverness area who wouldn't be keen to head up a maintenance group of volunteers/college students who gave up a couple hours a month to go in and help Tommy with groundstaff chores like painting toilets or whatever other odd jobs need done. Or that there are no ICT supporters among the Business and Marketing Students at the UHI who wouldn't be keen to add to their CV by running a marketing and promotions committee and arranging some of the things above. Free match tickets and a good reference on someone's CV would be all these things cost. I'll take your word on the emails being sent out, I've obviously missed them, but I'd imagine that in this time of information overload most people barely glance at them. Personally I've always argued this is the biggest fallacy about the worth of direct email communication - sure, it's free and it can look great at next to no cost but it only takes 2 clicks to delete and when it's bundled in with the other 15 emails from whatever else in your inbox it simply isn't going to be read properly. Also, and again not in a 'having a go way', a generic 'who wants to help' plea is, in my experience, rarely going to gain much response. A lot of people who volunteer didn't realise initially that they have skills that are useful to others or that the opportunity to practice and utilise these skills even exists. That's why I'm suggesting that if these opportunities were created and targeted specifically there may be a better response. Then again, the traditionally apathetic Inverness response may still dominate and you'll continue to p1ss into the wind... You're right though, it is easy to sit behind a keyboard and demand this and that. Especially when you live too far away to offer practical assistance and don't have the free time to offer anyway. **Edit: This isn't a dig at the progress that has been made with regards to communication and how the club and those involved with it are approaching fans as that has all been very positive with some definite changes for the better. It's about how to develop it further.

  18. Mmmm... that sounds very much like the way the Highlands would fare under "central belt rule" in a separate Scotland. At least within the UK, the Highlands is one of several peripheral areas across all four constituent parts. That's why I can't see why anyone up here would want to vote to have their every single affair dictated by a central belt administration which is already showing alarming signs of wanting to centralise things on itself - such as through single Police and Fire services and the freeze on Council Tax which reduces the autonomy of locally elected councils.

  21. I have to say, for a lad who allegedly cannot play out wide, he managed to pretty much skin the Arbroath left back at will in the first half on Wednesday! If his shots were more accurate or Bullock did not pull off a good save he could have had a hat-trick as well. May have been a different level to SPL, however perhaps explains what CaleyD was referring to with regard to his performance training.

  22. I'm pretty chuffed that we've set up a link with what is arguably the best youth set up in modern day English top flight football. Hopefully we can utilise it properly and get the most out of it we can. Also Arsenal kids are bred on passing football from the cradle so hopefully those guys will be able to appease the more vocal anti hoof brigade (I'm also anti-long ball, but if we win I couldn't care less how we do it.)

  28. Rory was rubbish for us, absolute garbage. I remember having an angry rant to TheMantis about his showing against Morton in the League Cup at half-time - one of the poorest performances I've ever seen from a Caley Thistle player.

  29. Brew left us as soon as he could. Was well on the way to getting Dundee United relegated. Failed there. Came back here when he wasn't wanted. Was pretty certain to get us relegated too. Butcher was the choice of CTO. Some might blame him for getting us relegated. I thought he gave us hope. Brought us up at the first opportunity. Has been nowhere near relegation since we came back up. Just started a new season with only one defeat and that's to the champions of last year and almost certainly this. The criticism is just way over the top this early in the season. But then, it's not about this season is it? It's about wanting someone to fail, so they can say "I'm right at last! We should never have hired him, no matter how well we've done these past few seasons!" It's just simply tedious. Shout for his head if he fails but one defeat to Celtic???? It's ridiculous.

  30. Well the Doom and Gloom Brigade are having a whale of a time on this forum,God knows what it will be like if we ever lose another game. It would seem we have the worst set of players, the worst manager.the worst assistant manager, the worst board of directors, the worst Chairman, the worst stewards, Who next do they want to have a go at The grounds staff maybe. Come on Guys take stock of yourselves you will be closing down this forum next by your ranting and raving. Are you all so good at your own jobs, hobbies etc. Are you so perfect in your own lives that it gives you the right to judge others so harshly. GET BEHIND THE TEAM NOT ON TOP OF IT. We have as good an outfit as we can afford and they are doing very well so far this season BARRING ONE GLITCH. Give them a chance will you.

  31. I dont understand the 'fans' on here, while everyone is entitled to an opinion, what is excpected from TB? Seems he can do nothing right for some, what has to be achieved for him to be acknowledged as doing a good/stable job? Attacking fancy flowing football - sadly we dont have the players for this and if we do try it we will probably loose more games than we do right now. Better to play to the strengths we have and try win points and get the first only aim of the season SPL safety sorted. Finishing Top 6 - No other ICT manager (with bigger budgets) have done this, with the SPL as tight between most teams with a good run and being injury free ICT have an equal chance of finishing here as they do bottom - just like 6 or 7 others. Win a Cup - Again as above no other manager has done this or reached a final, but I believe this is where we need to try harder, over the last few years we havent done overly well and if the likes of Killie, County, Gretna, Hibs can make finals we can too. If only some people would stop looking back and dreaming of Robbo, 10CC, Stevie P, Granty, Tokely, Wyness etc etc - these days are past, we have to move forwards and evolve if we didnt the team would be full of washed up players and we would be moving backwards. If experienced players move on because they get offered more cash elsewhere or longer deals then we just have to accept it, not all of this is TB's fault, the board also have a part to play - as a club we have to 'cut our cloth accordingly'.
