Don't you think you have used the John Hughes card often enough! Let it go FFS
  2. 5 points
Agree totally and think a lot of this is down to his association with John Hughes. He is certainly a more experienced coach than RF. Unless you have evidence that this is the case, then this is just pure speculation and doesn't help matters.
  3. So any prospect of bringing through any good young players for the first team is virtually nil. Lets just keep filling the squad with below average players from the Engish conference and bring in players on loan that are not good enough to play for their own clubs at the expense of our own youngsters.. Absolutely shocking news, the way the club runs their youth development is an absolute farce and needs completely overhauled, these guys should be the future.

  5. Indeed - that occurred to me when reading all the demands for Foran to go now. There are 6 games left. How many games would a new manager - unfamiliar with the squad - require to work out the best team and system? Cue someone to start shouting "Charlie Christie now!!"

A very odd statement. A few lines that say next to nothing and nowhere does it refute the claims about Foran's future being in jeopardy as was mentioned by STV. The title claims it's clarification....and then clarifies essentially nothing. Why put out a statement saying nothing? Just adds fuel to the fire. Might just be me, but the bit about everyone being focussed including the fans seems awfully like a backhanded compliment.

Whatever your view of Foran there is little doubt that his loyalty is to the club. By the end of his tenure with us Hughes's only loyalty was to himself and his bank balance.

Perhaps some of the board members might want to take a look at their own positions as well.
  9. Agree that, wherever we find ourselves next season, the development system and those employed in it needs a serious overhaul. The fact that in the dozen years since we were first promoted to the top league we have only produced three players in the form of Ross, Christie and Polworth who have come remotely close to becoming first team regulars and just the one who has generated transfer income is a shocking disgrace. Surely it's not too much to ask that we have a competent and efficient youth system that produces a first team player at least every second season and generates a transfer fee more often than once in a blue moon. If our current system fails to do that then what on earth is the point in spending a six figure sum every year on it ?

I believe the blame for this mess lies solely with the board. Giving an untested and inexperienced manager a long term contract is cheap and frankly irresponsible. I actually feel sorry for Foran. On many occasions he’s expressed a desire to stay in Inverness for the rest of his life and raise his family here. What happens if the board sack him for their mistakes? Where will he go? His home and life in Inverness is very much on the line, because of the irresponsible actions of our board, who seemed more interested in having money for prawn sandwiches and champagne than a successful top flight football team. It's disgraceful that they have treated a club legend (arguably our biggest legend) as a money saving solution. Foran would have been far better suited to assisting the manager who should have been brought in - but the board wouldn't even give him that chance because of Brain Rice, who as far as I can see, does NOTHING. If Foran goes; the board must go too.
  11. It's all very well looking at other teams but we need to win games, starting on Saturday. Just do anything to get a win, cheat, fight, kick, bite our way to three points. Can't see it though.
  12. I don't think we have players with quality. Our squad is dreadful, full of jobbers, bench warmers, sand dancers and hoofball merchants. A good manager might be able to get a team out of them with organisation and discipline but we don't have that. Maybe Tansey and Draper have the potential to play well and Billy Mckay is obviously an excellent player but isn't ours. The rest are dross. A few, like Liam Polworth for example, are playing like dross when they might be capable of a bit more or Tremarco, who at least tries and commits himself physically, but in the main we are dire. Others, like Raven and Warren used to be good but have fallen off a cliff. We've replaced first choice starting players with bench warmers and that's that. The fact that we are still in touch with the rest is more due to the fact that Motherwell, Hamilton, Dundee and County are pretty awful this season as well. Not as bad as us though.
  13. The problem is that nobody can clearly identify what Feckin system we are utilising !! And if we are confused what about the players. That confusion and total lack of width introduces the hoof mentality.
  14. It is now too late for any changes in the management structure to make any difference. As Renegade alludes to - the best scenario is that all the leading lights and coaches sit down and discuss how we could get out of our current, pending demise. Even if that results in over-ruling Foran. But I really don't think that we possess anyone with the balls to do that. For once I have sympathy with the players cos they must be as bemused and deflated by the tactics as we are.
  15. It needs doing NOW! The team itself are really not a bad set of players it's just leadership that's never been there from day 1. Act now and at least we've given it a shot. Leaving him there is just a disaster
  16. I have no insight into what goes on behind the scenes at the club but can't help observe that when John Hughes first arrived our form and results both dipped considerably. Then Russell Latapy arrived and his presence coincided with an upturn in fortunes including, in his only full season at the club, our best ever league finish, qualifying for Europe for the only time in our history and, of course, our historic Scottish Cup win. Russell departs and is replaced by Brian Rice and our form and results worsen and have declined increasingly rapidly ever since. I don't know the answer but can't help wondering is that mere coincidence ?
  17. Calls for replacements such as football dinosaurs such as this, Calderwood, Jocky Scott etc make me cringe almost as much as the continual calls for ex-ICT managers to return although achieving little in the game after their short, successful stints many years ago. Clearly the gamble of inexperienced manager doesn't always pay off such as with RF so far, yet as a club we shouldn't be afraid to keep being brave and giving new ideas a chance - but we need to also be proactive enough to recognize when this doesn't work and keep moving forwards rather than stagnate or even regress. There's young managers out there looking for their step up from lower leagues who at least have some experience but are ready for a bigger stage to try their luck - look at guys who could be on the way up, not those on their way down.

  19. i gave the Fish top marks for being the only player to applaud the fans who suffered til the bitter end. and apart from that, he actually, as always, worked hard and fought for every ball. a guy who has always given his all to the cause!

Devil's advocacy time! So when times are good, the credit goes to the managers and not to the board who appointed him. But when times are bad, the blame sits with the board and not with the manager they appointed.???

  22. When is the "split" fixtures out ? ... I hope County isn't our final game of the season

I really don't get this Brian Rice knocking. Foran has said he is a very good coach. The question you should be asking is Does Foran take advice and listen to him (and Kel)? Just because JH appointed him doesn't make him unworthy of his job and contract the club gave him
  24. The manager, some of the players and the board must hang their heads in shame. How to fix it is a big question. - possibly 1. Get rid of Foran 2. Bring a strong fix it man like Butcher 3. make big changes ot the board structure 4. Replace the erring players.
  25. Just to pick up on something that was said on pie & bovril. In giving Richie a 4 year deal, it would have made obvious sense to have a relegation clause in it.
  26. Really? We're bad enough with the professionals that play week in, week out without removing someone for Richie's ego to get a boost and have a crock who's had about 90mins of football over 3 years have a run out. Too many on here seem to think he was a playing messiah, he was average at best with a bad temperament at times and was as likely to get sent off or injured as he was to score. Pulling on his boots is not the answer to this situation.
  27. Well truly thought by Monday we would have seen the last of Foran as manager . We obviously have a chairman with not big enough balls to admit he has got it wrong and at least give us a lift and some hope going into the last 6 games . Seemingly manager and chairman are as bad as each other and have not got our clubs best interest at heart . Sad really !
  28. Funny c#nt eh wasted talent u should be on stage! Your talking ***** bout reid as well the point i was possibly since i use a tombola to construct sentences trying to make was reid managed to get players from the youth team in playing and sold at a huge profit wheres our youth whys there development stalled

Hughes is only on a short-term contact at Raith, we should get him back.

Hughes must take NONE of the blame. The board are the ones that made a mess of handling one of their employees! The board/club were offered money for him and Hughes himself made it abundantly clear he wanted to go. But no. So regardless if he later 'engineered' an exit (nobody really know what happens, although we can speculate) the board are the ones that put him in a position to 'engineer' his exit. They could have accepted money for his departure from Dundee United or alternatively let his contract run down. But instead they offered him a new deal, which if I was him I would've signed as there was nothing on the immediate horizon. But as it turns out he's laughing away to himself and away back down the road with a nice wee payoff 6 months later. He couldn't care less, and why should he. Money which we could ill afford. The club basically glossed over his departure (as in don't ask us about it) and celebrated with new contacts for Raven and Vigurs. Both of whom have generally had awful seasons. Everything seemed to happen so quickly after Hughes left that it all seemed to be a total knee-jerk reaction to his departure. That hastiness is ultimately going to cost us an absolute fortune. Again, something we can Ill afford.
