  1. Can we not, for once, give credit for a sensible decision made in good time thus minimising inconvenience and expense for everyone ? We have often been critical, often rightly so, of little consideration being given to fans. Here we have a decision that does give us consideration and still some folk carp and complain.

Was looking for something else on the official site and came across one of the ICT25 blogs buried on there .... Seems Jim Falconer our club secretary is retiring at the end of the season. . I am sure plenty folk may have known this but it hadnt reached this side of the pond or been mentioned on here as far as I know so wanted to start this topic to thank him for all his years with the club .... https://ictfc.com/ict-25-blog-jim-falconer If you want to talk about unsung heroes of our club over the last 25 years then JF is likely one of the biggest ones. I am surprised and saddened that he is retiring as those will be humongous shoes to fill ... but happy and appreciative for all the work he has put into the club in the background for each of those 25 years. Thank You Jim. I think the sign I have on my own desk at works sums things up about my perception of your role ...... Happy Retirement !
  3. Slammed when they make a late decision and slammed when they make an early decision....the proverbial "can't win" scenario. The fact that they called an inspection so early would indicate that there was no chance of the game going ahead tonight...which is unsurprising given the amount of rain that's fallen the last few days and continues to fall today. Still, moaning about this is a welcome break for people moaning about the semi final ?
  4. The pitch is sodden! Leaving it longer wasnt going to change anything. In fact it probably would have been called off yesterday if allowed. The rain has been of biblical proportions at times this week. As for the above risking injury and totally wrecking the pitch doesnt sound a great plan to me?

Moray Jaggie our semi final against might have looked pish on TV but it was just brilliant being there on that day

Well said Scotty. Jim is a wonderful stalwart of ICT and the Club wont be the same without him. Always cheerful - these are big boots someone has to fill.
  7. While they are at it, maybe they can update the league table on their site as well. If only Scotty was still doing it..................
  8. Folks moaning about times & locations. Its known that Glasgow & Hampden is the location for cup semi finals and has been for years so really don't see all the fuss. As for times, the game has to be outwith the 3pm scheduled games so its either a 12.15KO or 5.30 - if the later time was chosen then I'm sure there would be more complaints its too late in the day and folks will travel home in the dark and maybe even have to miss their dinner. On a Sunday public transport is more limited - put us on an early Sunday time and fans might not make it at all and on late they will complain as they have work the next day or that its interfering with the Sabbath. We have had about 5 Hampden visits in 25 years so hardly worth getting all upset about - plenty other clubs & fans would love to be in a cup semi - lets focus on the prize rather than the inconvenience of having to get up at 6am on a weekend on one occasion!!!!

Without Jimmy there maybe wouldnt be a club! Stood firm and put up with a lot of unpleasantness at the time of the merger. Will be missed when he retires. PS noticed in press earlier in week that Ginger MacKenzie ex Caledonian legend has died at age 91. Thought some of the older members might remember him. RIP
  10. indeed. think I have pictures of that game ..... If the weather is that bad then good decision. no point delaying the inevitable. Some people may be inconvenienced but leaving it to the last minute when you know its not going ahead inconveniences more !
  11. Indeed. Much better to have an early decision, instead of waiting until near kick off. If it was badly waterlogged at 12:30 there is no chance of it being magically ok by this evening.

Only being done to try avoid further criticism form fans - reasons for KO times are clear, so its being done knowing full well the outcome. Rather than wasting time complaining maybe assist the fans if its such a concern with travel arrangements? Quite sad we have more negative posts about the time & location that positive about having another great day out.

Bah Humbug!.......... Bet your fun at Christmas
  14. For those needing a Highland derby fix tonight, the BBC Sport Scotland site currently has highlights of the first ever one. Wilson Robertson!
  15. Well it's stìll pure pishing it down as predicted.

He did not exactly endear himself in 1993-94 (well to some of us) but he has stuck by his guns and one of the few standing from the early days. Always has a wee word to say and will be sorely missed. And we need a falconer the scare of those nasty birds circling the Longman.

If anyone deserved the title of Mr ICTFC...it's Jimmy.

I missed that sad news re Ginger MacKenzie. My all time favourite Caley player. His wife was best friends with one of my elder sisters. I visited him at his home in Winnipeg many years ago and they made me very welcome. Thanks for posting the news, sad though it was to read.
  19. Given the delights of the derby game I would imagine there would be a few folk travelling up from further south so the early notification would be welcome. I well remember some years back driving up from Norwich to the New Year game at Dungwall only to find out the game was off when we were passing Nairn!
  20. The early decision was probably because there was no chance of improvement. It wont be playable tomorrow either!

Totally agree! How often are these opportunities going to come round? The KO time is what is is but nothing would persuade me to stay at home and watch on telly. The boys have worked so hard to get here and deserve our support. Ticket prices for behind the goal (whichever end we are given) are £20 adults and £10 for u16s and over 65s. Im not sure anyone would have expected any cheaper? Counting down the days tbh
  22. The postponement is a huge blow to Callum Semple who had a substantial wager on us winning 1-0 courtesy of a County own goal ?
  23. We had already played a game fewer than Dunfermline and with another weekend fixture rescheduled for the semi final playing catch up with such a small squad could seriously impact on our play off hopes.

What do we care what the 'English game' thinks? The fact is that the SFA have no choice about kick off time it's either then or 5.15pm. Can't understand why it's a problem for a Jambo who'll be travelling less time than my daily commute. Missing out on a Scottish Cup semi-final is your choice. I'll certainly be there with my 2 kids, these occasions don't come along often. I haven't seen the prices as yet but I'm not surprised that they're likely a disgrace.
  25. It's UEFA Article 48 that prevents it, so outwith the powers of the SFA or the SPFL; even if they cleared all other games. https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/about-uefa/news/newsid=19817.html

The Daily Record report that was referenced said that he had been invited, presumably by the SFA, to a meeting with all parties, to discuss arrangements for the semi. He wasn't going on a crusade to change the date or time. He wasn't "only [doing it] to try to avoid further criticism". But he's right to take the opportunity to complain about it.
  27. All that needs to happen is for the SFA and SPFL to agree, in advance, to clear a weekend for the semi-finals. As is done for internationals.

Good news, hopefully fit again soon. Given the run in with potential for play-off and even SC final thats an extra 7 games of playing time - we dont have a big squad to rest players so need to try rotate in some youngsters like Danny & his peers when or if we have a good lead in games or are safe in the play-off places.

Good news although still injured he has signed a new 3 year deal until summer 2022.

BDU--your post has some facts in it that are chiels that winnae ding. i.e . are correct. Right now, however, I think folks, are anxious for positivity since we are so close to another great end to this year so..... emphasize the positive and forego the negative will be a welcome mat as we posters enter this part of the forum. Cheers S.P.

I have no issues with anyone being on here using a pseudonym unless they are disrupting the forum itself or breaking our site rules. We have had players, staff, and directors on here over the years as well as local and national media people, and each is entitled to read/browse the forum for info/opinion (as most do) or to publish their own opinion which might sometimes be controversial if they used their own names. It could also be taken as club policy when its just opinion and ultimately could be used in a disciplinary fashion by SFA/SPFL in the same way they have used twitter or facebook comments when something is said. Some 'out themselves' and say who they are but others prefer to remain somewhat anonymous as is their right. I dont see anything underhanded in any recent posts by board members.

Phone the club, pretend you are Tony Hadley and croon - Text me or tell me, but it's always second-hand; I'm incognito but no rendezvous's been planned; Dictate or relay, I could send it to your home; "Return to Sender" - I could sing it down the phone! Communication let me down; But I'm left here; Communication let me down; But I'm left here, I'm left here AGAIN

Pity we couldn't bring back Josh Meekings to play in goal for the semi final. His save was brilliant in the last one.

What atmosphere will Hampden produce with 15000 in it? It will be a laughing stock to the English game when there is 35000 empty seats in a stadium our last semi final against Celtic looked pish on tv as there was thousands of empty seats. Hearts fans have also said they wont be going due to time and cost. Hampden isn't a great stadium having been to it many times it's crap. Now with stupid kick off time I won't be going with my three boys especially after the ticket prices they announced £75 entry plus transport plus food etc. They don't want fans to attend so ill oblige and watch on tv. A smaller stadium at a decent time would have been better. Better atmosphere fans can travel at decent times to get to it and at a decent cost. TV is killing our game and our semi final is proof.

If we get Celtic in the final would it be bad taste to have a "Josh Meekings was innocent" banner made up? Asking for a friend...... ?
