  1. That's great news. He better recover quickly because he's in the starting line up for 13th July!

  2. On an unrelated note I had bought this car hanger ICT strip in 2008/9. The hangar failed a couple of years ago but my 3 year old daughter has found a good use for the strip! I might have influenced / helped out…

  3. I can understand why he got it, but like others before him, the way it is being handled is not good. The man has given basically his entire career to ICT and not only did they allegedly tell him to 'walk it off' in regard to his ACL injury, but also then made him pay for the required op himself. (Thank goodness for Shane's initiative). He is, and will always be, a club legend. He is up there with the likes of Charlie and Rosscoe for length of service and has earned every bit of the respect he should be afforded. His playing career may be winding down (or over depending on the op results) but as a club we must treat our players (and other employees) right. There is no excuse for emailing a P45 to an employee. You do that face-to-face and look them in the eye, regardless of how uncomfortable a conversation it may be. Anything else is disrespectful or cowardly. Its not going to happen right now given the financial precipice we are at, but I would love to see a situation where long-serving players (like Aaron) have career discussions with the club and the club helps them plan for life after football. Thats what happens when your focus is community. If it is clear a player has dedicated a large portion of their career to playing for ICT then is it too much to ask ICT to dedicate some time and yes, some resources and/or money to helping the player plan the next stage of their career after football, whether that is funding or subsidising coaching courses, college courses or something else to give them a way forward. Treating players like something on the bottom of your shoe will come back to haunt the club. Players talk, and a dissenting voice is louder than anything else. Treating them right can and will bring benefits in the end as players will see that the club cares, and that trek up the A9 may be less problematic than signing for Kelty.

  4. We're almost a week on from a faceless call to arms and a plea to invest in season tickets, new kit and to get behind the club. Since then absolutely nada, nish, zero. Eight days until our first friendly and not a word regarding the playing squad, our invisible management team or any other fundamental issues relating to the season ahead. Quite frankly the most unprofessional bunch of clueless chancers that have ever graced a boardroom or dugout. An utter p1sstake which is surely severely undermining any last dregs of goodwill amongst our support. I'd be interested to hear what the Supporter's Trust have to say on this ongoing debacle.

  5. The man has literally told the club in several different articles to "come sign me". He is showing blind loyalty to a club that day-by-day erodes and ultimately does not deserve the respect he is showing it. FFS, sign him or at least tell him you want to and then figure out the details when the dust settles. A 1 month or 2-month contract (up to before the end of transfer window) so everyone has options and a get out clause in case things don't quite work out. If anyone actually wants to play for us then (very) short-term contracts may be the way to go until certain individuals have left the building and others have entered.

  6. Agree on just about everything you say DD. Communications with the fans in the next three weeks is key and I understand the few people brought in the assist the board know this. Let’s hope something more informative appears this coming weekend. It’s a hard one to call for the fans given the uncertainty at the club. A lot will be reluctant to buy ST not knowing whether there will be a club in a month’s time. A statement providing sufficient evidence that investment or funding (from whatever individuals, organisations or groups) could go a long way to swing fans towards buying ST. The other elephant in the room is SG. I believe the board would like to expedite SG’s departure, however it may be his contract is something in his favour and he holds all the cards. So we (the fans) may have to accept his presence around the club until the board can uncouple him. Really this will come down to a financial settlement in my opinion. Ultimately for me I will buy a ST when an announcement on administration is off the table and SG is gone. Until then I will attend each match to help show support for the club in my own little way.

  8. I just think he is so embarrassed at his failure to keep us up he is hiding not the hardman he once was not even an apology for the players and fans after the Hamilton game just shocking. He has been earning big bucks and will stay and screw as much as he can from the club as money is king to him! I wish he would crawl away but his contract will be watertight for him so we are stuck with him.

  10. '....we now respectfully ask the supporters to rally around the team and the management, and a squad which will feature more Inverness and Highland players than we have had for many a long year and if ever we need the fans, it is now.' Maybe the Trust could ask the Club which team and management including squad we are rallying around. How can we currently rally around ......silence?

  11. In the P and J today 'Mark Ridgers still open to Caley Thistle talks after turning down three offers from other SPFL clubs' https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/inverness-caledonian-thistle/6506669/mark-ridgers-still-open-to-caley-thistle-talks-after-three-offers/ Surely someone at the Club could let the out of contract players and some staff, who are now potentially on the dole, know if there is any chance of future employment?

  16. Completely agree Scotty, I find it quite astonishing that he hasn’t said a dickie bird since the playoff defeat. He drops further in my opinion with every passing day we don’t hear from him - he’s not the man for the job and we’re not the club for him.

  17. Agreed. He has literally ghosted the club (or his visibility at the club) since May 18th. No comments on many of the things tearing the club apart, but worse than that, no comment on contracts, retaining players, or the player strategy for 2024/25. I get it he has to have a holiday, (I am sure the players enjoyed theirs through all their uncertainties this summer), but either he has a job to do, or he does not ... He should be back at it or terminating his contract "by mutual consent" if he is not up for the challenge of working on a budget that would not even qualify as shoestring.

  18. It is difficult to make signings when there is still no word about the future management structure and financing of the club. Even if we have a manager (and we are not actually sure we do) there will be no identified budget to allow contracts to be offered. Every day that passes without firm news increases the worry. Friday's anonymous statement sounded encouraging, but was the mention of "hugely positive discussions with a number of potential investors" the truth or simply a sop to encourage some people to part with their money? Apart from Ross Morrison, the club's management is still the same Board and the same CEO who thought it was a good idea to move to Kelty and to do so without discussing it at all with their contracted Inverness based players? Do they really expect anyone to trust a word they say? If the old guard care anything for the club, they will be doing all they possibly can to facilitate the transfer of control to those willing to invest in the club. If that transfer of control is not completed by the end of this week, I fear it might be too late to get a team on the park on the first day of the season.

  19. Let’s face it the fans have been in the dark with everything and nothing is going to change in that respect as long as S G is still around …..I am trying to believe that on the 13th of July we will have a team including a goalie.for our first game . We need to believe at this stage and pray it all comes to fruition.

  21. That’s not the point. He should have been seen and had the situation explained to him about why a new contract was not being offered, and advised that his P45 would follow by e-mail. Thats only common decency. Treat others how you’d want to be treated yourself.

  23. Agreed. We are in limbo, nobody is properly in charge at the moment, hence everything is a shambles. I’m pleasantly surprised someone has managed to arrange some pre-season friendlies. We desperately need the proposed refinancing to conclude and a new regime to take control.

  34. Can't see Ferguson agreeing to be gagged. At worst he says something that makes him look like a tw**! The performances have already done that and have his managerial career circling the drain. If he says something remotely sensible or even slightly conciliatory or (re)constructive then it's an improvement on what went before. A win-win for him. In my head, I imagine his reaction if someone told him to button it would be something like this...

  37. Not starting preseason till next week is not so strange when you consider our season ended a fortnight later than most other clubs'. From social media it appears that most clubs returned to training this week. However the lack of any news on signings/player releases and our manager disappearing off the face of the earth are hugely concerning. It'll be hard to do preseason without a goalkeeper, for a start.

  39. At the end of the day I think we all want the same (or a similar) outcome and that is to have ICTFC back on stable ground, challenging for promotion back to the Championship and ultimately, hoping to get back to the Premiership one day soon. How long it takes is anybody's guess, and we will all have different ideas about the route we take, the timing, the methodology and the personnel but for the most part we all agree on the desired outcome so that's good I had someone who had not been on here for quite some time comment to me recently that the quality of the debate on here has risen quite substantially since the end of the season. I have to agree. We have had very little moderating to do. There have been a lot of passionate discussions, and although there have been differences of opinion about the minutiae and the timing, the dire nature of our predicament has - I think - seen fans all pull in the same direction or conduct themselves in a mature measured manner in discussions. Long may that continue. I also love the increased profile that both TWS and the Supporter's Trust has managed during this time. The podcast quality and content has been excellent and very professional, rivalling that of so-called knowledgeable football pundits who do this for a living, and the Trust has really stepped up to provide a leadership umbrella for various groups of supporters who on their own might have no impact on the club. These are definitely positives from this negative situation. Personally, I usually only buy merchandise in-person, when home on a trip, so me not buying merchandise this month or next month has no effect. I also don't maintain a season ticket so no effect there either. Our biggest input here on CTO is in sponsoring one or more players for the last 20+ years with 2023/24 season being the first season since the 90s that we have not done so. I think I have heard enough now to say we will look to reinstate that sponsorship in 2024/25 provided the leadership situation is resolved to our satisfaction. It's headed that way, so we are prepared to take that leap of faith, I think. Watch out for the sponsorship thread coming soon....

  40. Welcome, and please keep contributing to the Forum. Things do seem to be progressing and hopefully that will continue. For me, the two key issues were Kelty and the club leadership. The first has been achieved, the second is well under way. Based on that I will be renewing my season ticket and getting behind the club. I fully understand those who are waiting to see what happens next and I respect their viewpoint. I hope they feel able to come on board soon. I also understand why the club is not publicly stating when SG is actually leaving. They could only do so with his agreement as they need to comply with GDPR regulations. This is different to most player contracts which are for a fixed term and, I suspect, players and their agents probably don’t get sticky on such things being known publicly. It does sound like discussions with investors are going well. I feel it is important that these potential investors see that fans are getting behind the club again as they will have seen the strength of feeling and just how united fans have been in the Kelty and leadership issues, along with the growth in Supporters Trust membership and its increased profile in the media.

  41. The only thing I disagree with in an otherwise truly excellent post. I think the time has come for fans, who love the club, who genuinely want a club around still to support, to renew season tickets and buy merchandise again. The club has been and still is in an existential crisis. It should be fully appreciated that It had suffered losses in several millions ... millions ... before Morrison and Gardiner had even entered the stage. It had been propped up by a series of benefactors who generously committed to equity in the main more than debt. Any informed reader of the publicly available annual accounts can decipher that fairly easily. To withhold while Gardiner is working his notice is utter foolishness. He has made mistakes but in the immediate / short term, we desperately need someone available / on hand who has had a central working knowledge of the organisation to facilitate the changing of the guard/restructuring phase. I, for one, will not stand by inactive and watch my club die. Season ticket renewed.

  42. The statement from the club today may not contain all we would like to hear and it may have the emphasis all wrong, but it brings much better news than we feared. The most positive part of the statement is the reference to "hugely positive discussions currently ongoing with a number of potential new investors". This suggests there are at least 2, and probably more, people ready and willing to put sufficient money into the club to save it from administration and that the discussions are pretty advanced. It really is important to acknowledge that these kind of negotiations are usually very difficult. Those willing to invest will not be wanting to throw their money into a bottomless pit. They will want to put conditions on their investment such as who is on the Board of Directors and who isn't; what the football model should be; what the management structure should be; how the finances are structured; what the relationship with supporters bodies should be etc. Crucially, they will want to know how much, if any, of the loans made to the club by the former chairman and other directors they expect to get back. Different potential investors and the current Board will have different views on these topics and somehow, they need to reach a consensus which they are all happy enough with before new investors will commit. I don't think the statement would have been released with such positive wording unless they were agreed in principle about the way forward. It is encouraging that the Supporters Trust have been in dialogue with the club during this time. However, just like any other party involved in negotiations, they need to respect the positions of others and be prepared to compromise. Fans wanted the Kelty scheme scrapped: it has been scrapped. Fans wanted the Chairman gone; he's gone. Fans wanted the CEO out: he's resigned and if not quite gone, he's going. It is therefore perfectly reasonable that the club and potential investors will expect the Trust to give them something back. That something is what the Trust has put in their statement. Yes the message is different from that made after the meeting in the Caley Club, but so it should be! The situation is radically changed from then, and it has changed because people were rallying round the Trust to give a united message. That message has been listened to and acted upon. I think the Trust have been doing a brilliant job in what is probably the most difficult period in the club's history. The potential investors may be willing to inject money into the club, but they probably don't have £500k sitting in a bank account. They will need to liquidate some assets to release lump sums or perhaps they are only able to inject money in installments. Meanwhile, bills have to be paid and staff need to be paid. Clearly, sales of season tickets and merchandise will help the cash flow. I fully understand the reticence many fans have in parting with money now. We all have good reason not to trust the club and for some, the purchase of a season ticket is a much bigger commitment than for others. Personally, I think it will be strategically good for some people to respond positively to the call to buy tickets and for others to hold back. It will give the club the message that the fans are acknowledging the progress being made but that further evidence of progress needs to be demonstrated. The message to the club will be that the fans are giving you some money but you will get more money when more assurances are given that the club's future is secure. The message to the fans effectively remains the same - it is a personal choice.

  43. So Morrison has gone, Gardiner is going and Kelty is dead in the water. If I remember correctly those were the three main demands from the supporters in this forum and also the wider community. To get Ferguson out at this moment in time will cost a fortune that we just don’t have currently. I too am frustrated that we don’t have all the information we could have but I also remember being totally misled by Gardiner and his pals when they announced plans and cash windfalls as facts long before they were signed and sealed, so if the board aren’t giving much away just now maybe just maybe they are waiting until the deals are done and signed and written in stone before they announce what’s happening . If we don’t buy our season tickets and merchandise then we all know what will happen. I’d rather lose money trying to keep the club alive than have the money in the bank and sod all to do on a Saturday afternoon. Doubt I’ll make many friends with this but it’s way I see it.

  44. My thoughts are similar but, on the other hand, if we don't get some cash into the club, it might go into administration anyway. Will take the weekend to think about this, buy a lottery ticket and If Scotland win, will seriously consider renewing my season ticket!

  45. I would imagine that the insolvency practitioner will be heavily reliant on SG for knowledge of the club’s current state of affairs and for information needed by potential investors too. The chairman bailed out, and the rest of the board seem even less hands-on than he was, and every single one of them declined the opportunity to take temporary charge. There’s a lot of work needed to save the club and it helps to have someone with a bit of knowledge and experience than to have an even bigger void than there already is. So long as SG’s presence is a very short term arrangement, it’s surely better than the alternative, like it or not.

  46. Interesting info. A sports scientist ought to bring numerous benefits to the squad, one of which is hopefully a reduction in certain types of injury, which would obviously be a good thing for the team. As for the insurance, in general, not insuring something is usually the most cost effective option, ie premiums usually exceed the amounts you claim. That is for the simple reason that insurers price their policies as the amount they expect to pay out in claims, plus the costs of processing claims and all their corporate overheads, their profit margins and then insurance premium tax on top of all that. Many types of insurance therefore cost the customer about double the level of claims, so it usually pays for a company to just take the hit as and when something bad happens - which is fine, if you actually have the money when the time arises. We didn’t.

  47. Match/season tickets, travel and subsistence, half time draw tickets, hospitality (when it’s been on), the Sports Bar (when it’s been open), pie shop, merchandise, player sponsorship, shares, programmes, car parking, Centenary Club…. and probably a few more things I haven’t mentioned. How much of their own money have the supremely loyal fans of this club spent in following Inverness Caledonian Thistle - some of them for the last 30 years? And then there’s the kind of expenditure that can’t be quantified in monetary terms - the emotion, commitment, passion and so on that so many people have committed in abundance to this club across three decades. I can’t possibly include myself as that kind of supporter since my involvement has necessarily been different. However I am experiencing a real challenge at the moment, feeling for those who truly are that kind of fan - and indeed for these players and the non-playing staff as well - amid rising frustration. Fans and players/employees alike all face a big enough tragedy in the possible disappearance of their club. However alongside that severe injury, they also bear the added insult of the complete lack of regard and the cynical disrespect of the current total wall of silence. They deserve a whole lot better.
