This pedalling of the 'fans are getting that they asked for' line is inaccurate and exactly the kind of bs spin that allows those responsible to dodge accountability. NONE of this is what fans asked for.7 points
-
Their efforts of course were so much appreciated that most never even got a call from the club regarding their contracts and / or future with the club. This mob really do think the fans are stupid.6 points
-
"The fans" are not a uniform, homogenous group. Some fans have got some of what they asked for and others haven't. For some, playing a team of local boys, binning Kelty, the resignation of the chairman (presumably this forms part of the 'accountability' that is being demanded), and the future departure of the CEO will be enough to entice them back to support the team this season. Others won't be back until Duncan is gone, and some others won't be back until we are winning again and in a higher league.5 points
-
The club was being thrown off a cliff and fans were basically told they could have Kelty or Administration. Fans said they'd rather take a chance with administration than back a club that no longer connected with the local community. It was the club who then decided to go with a squad made up of a majority of young local players. At no time was this the ask of the fans.5 points
-
Whatever his perception of the fans may be, that should simply not be a consideration in this. As Chairman, he must take the responsibility for taking the club to the brink of administration. If he has any genuine wishes for what is best for the club and if he has a shred of decency in him, he will remove the charges against the club and write off all or most of the loan. From the concert company fiasco through to the current crisis, his behaviour recently has been such that I have lost any respect I once had for the man. Rather than fronting pie in the sky ideas for making money for the club, he now has an opportunity to do something which is 100% guaranteed to be a big help to the club. If he does that simple but generous thing he will earn back a lot of respect from a lot of people.4 points
-
Calling for the younger local players to be given more opportunity is not the same as asking for a squad almost entirely made up from them. I get that what we have is a result of the financial situation and I accept that but it is not what fans asked for. For me it's still preferable to the Kelty nonsense. The way that this situation was put to fans and then how things developed from there means that what was happening was choices being made. It may be seen as hair splitting but choosing least worst options is not the same as asking for something. The board, chairman and ceo are responsible for putting us in this hole and they can't be allowed to pin blame for the consequences of that on the fans. It's staggering to me that some people (not aimed at you) still want to put any faith in the current leadership to navigate us out of this. It's like some perverse form of Stockholm Syndrome or something!4 points

Except SG isn't out the building and rumour has it he has given 9 months notice. Why should fans support a club with such a toxic individual? I'm not spending a penny until he is gone completely. I don't want a single penny of my money going anywhere near his undeserving pockets. I have a choice, a tough one, but it is my choice.4 points
-
Taking him thousands of miles just to not play him then let him go seems pretty poor tbh. Hope he does well if he goes I thought he was a good player4 points

I guess it is a bit of 'Hobsons choice'....season ticket money and match day income, are practically the only income the club has, no major sponsor, no TV money, no prize money, no significant income streams. If everyone waits for SG to be out of the club, there may be no club to support. Think back to a year, there was an increasing call for 'Dodds out' because people felt despite a Cup Final and a play-off campaign the previous season, he did not have the wherewithal to get us out of the league...People got what they wanted and big Dunc came in and got us out of the league...the wrong way Our income levels have clearly not been enough over quite a few years and we are in very serious trouble....will we still be in existence this time next year and in a top four league at that? The board has rolled the dice to try and improve cashflow and none seem to have worked [or left us worse off] and communication is clearly a problem [keeping quiet is perhaps a panic measure to try and keep some control]. Who will come in now? I understand your position, but communally everyone is now 'rolling the dice' I reckon staying in League one and staying in existence will be a major achievement this year3 points

Virtually everyone I've spoken with (who hasn't renewed) has said they they will once they are assured Gardiner has left. Hardly scientific but I do speak with quite a few ICT fans.3 points

I respectfully disagree. The fans asked for a few things, including - Transparency, Accountability, Get rid of Gardiner, Get rid of Big Dunc, Recruit more local players. Of these, only the last has happened so far, although I suspect that was more out of necessity than fan pressure. Still, we've got a wee bit of what we wanted! Edit: Oh aye, we wanted rid of the Kelty nonsense. Got that too!2 points

There is no return to consider an investment. Any money would be essentially as you suggest a 'donation' done out of someones passion for the club, but the events over the last few months would make that less appealing. Development of income streams sustainable from footfall, merchandise, advertising, sponsorship and better use of the assets for consistent cash generation is what everyone should be aiming for, with the bonuses of irregular windfalls from on field success and player sales - what is the club and its current incumbents actually doing on this? Expecting a squad of white knights to come flooding in with pockets full of gold coins the day after the big bad ogre leaves is stuff of fantasy and does nothing other than kick the can further down the road papering over cracks on a temporary basis until that pot runs dry and we are back in the same position. The best we can hope is that we can get the debts cleared and sustainability at whatever level.2 points

New investors now know there is a £588k loss last year to contend with. Not exactly a going concern, but that;s what you get with mismanagement...2 points

Can’t help feel a direct relationship between SG and future investments is a factor. (Investors unwilling to put money in with SG likely to be a recipient of part or all of it). It’s another card SG is playing well, (I would suggest and to my angst), to draw out an exit date until he gets what he can from any fund pot within the coffers. I’m sure the remaining board have been given the figure for his departure, but are unwilling to stump-up after what has come before under SG’s stewardship. It’s a waiting game I’m afraid to see who blinks first on a acceptable fee. Just my tuppence worth !!2 points

And what evidence do you have that money will come in when he is "100% removed"?2 points

The team moved the ball better at times tonight but still frustrating to watch us overplay on the edge of the box, then get hit on the counter attack. I think our defensive options are good but we need to strengthen the midfield and attacking options and a backup GK is a must. Macloed showed up well at times but he and Nixon got caught out for the goal. Bray was very quiet again and didn’t really get into the game. Brooks and Longataff were wasteful in front of goal and Billy showed what’s he is capable off when he is in the box. Walker lead the young team through the second half and Cairns and McKay looked promising. I think we really need to get behind this team as fans and back these promising young players. It’s going to be a roller coaster season.2 points

When the club finally get round to having an AGM or if there is an EGM at some stage, shareholders can nominate the Trust as their proxy if they are unable or don't wish to attend in person. I will hang on to my shareholding because whilst I would be perfectly happy to have the current leadership of the Trust vote on my behalf, that might not always be the case. The number of members the Trust has is important regardless of the fact that increased numbers do not increase its shareholding. Because it is a democratic body, the way the Trust might vote in a meeting can be assumed to be representative of its members. If the membership numbers are a good percentage of the number of season ticket holders, other shareholders may well be persuaded to vote with the Trust because they will know they are voting with the majority fan view. Of course, it will be difficult to judge how the Trust's membership compares with the number of Season Ticket holders if the club refuse to say how many ST holders there are!2 points
-
ccccc…. don’t take that 18% as tablets of stone because I’m not sure how the ST’s fixed 10% interacts with the purchased shares to give a total, so 18% is sort of a ballpark figure. It’s possibly better to look at numbers of shares, and the biggest group alone - Muirfield Mills - has over 820,000 and, although no investor comes close to having a controlling interest, the seven biggest holdings - all 170,000 or more - come to almost 3.2 million shares, or in the ballpark of 80% of the total. So although there are over 500 shareholders, the majority of these have the basic 250 that many fans took up in the 1996 issue and a few more have maybe up to a thousand or two, but anything the ordinary punters in the street could do, even by acting together, would be pretty well “farting into the wind” in relation to what even some of these seven minority holders could produce. As a result, if you were considering the possibility of the ST achieving control of the club, it couldn’t come close. That also poses an interesting issue in the event of any new investors coming in as part of some kind of rescue, because if they were to want control (and you need 75% for some purposes) that would be quite expensive and would require either a number of existing shareholders to be persuaded to sell or, if not, then even more expensively, the purchase of enough new shares to outnumber what people have at the moment.2 points

Aye their striker (Barron?) had a lecture from the referee after flying into a challenge from behind late in the first half. He wasn't seeing much of the ball as our defence was assured first half so frustration looked to have set in. Much slicker pitch cut shorter than Grant St & a bit if rain all helped our passing we were much better first half compared to Saturday. Billy Mackay showed how effective he still is when he gets a chance in the box a really well constructed and well taken goal for 1-0. All the changes disrupted the second half but another good run out for the young team.2 points
-
Good first half performance, second half pretty even. Well taken goals and we could have had a few more before the break. Some rough challenges by Nairn. Picks for me were Bray, MacLeod, Thompson and Mackay, but all the players worked hard. Yes, MacLeod made a poor pass which led to the Nairn goal, but these things will happen with the youngsters as they learn, and otherwise he was controlling the midfield. I was within earshot of Ferguson and he was positively encouraging and coaching the youngsters, which was good to hear. Raith will be a tough challenge, but there is hope. Gilmour will be back for it. Nicolson a month or so away from returning.2 points

Club Statement The Board met earlier this week to approve the financial statement which was audited by accountants, A9 Consultancy. It reports a loss before tax of £588,053. Director Panos Thomas said: “We are doing everything in our power to find new investment in the club. We are actively involved in discussions with a number of interested parties who have the investment required to ensure a sustainable future for the club we all love.1 point
-
Thanks. Good points. If that is an accrual related to the cup money, then it is money which has already been spent on getting rid of one management team and replacing it with a more expensive and worse one. Accounts for 2023/4 are going to look even worse, although hopefully we will be in a better financial position by the time we see them. Under what name was the appeal lodged? If successful we have to hope that Morrison and Munro can find another company to build and operate the plant. This could still bring in some significant money for the club, but relying on such speculative ventures is no basis on which to fund a football club.1 point
-
It's always difficult to see the whole picture when there is no p&l accounts posted. But, I'd hazard a guess the debtors will be an accrual done to pull the cup money into that years accounts. It's also interesting to see that the appeal for the battery farm with the scottush government was also lodged today. Maybe that's the way to clear the balance sheet of the directors loans?1 point
-
The fact that the accounts have finally been published is good news. Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong, but my assumption is that the delay in submitting the accounts will have been because the auditors needed to be be persuaded that there were legitimate reasons for the directors to prepare the accounts on a going concern basis. It would appear that the accountants are satisfied that new investment is probably coming into the club sufficient to address the financial shortfalls. As always, there is little detail in the accounts, but what is there, is not good. A net loss of £588K is reported. Following relegation, our income can be expected to be considerably less in the coming year and the operational costs will need to be cut by more than the reduction of income if the loss is to be reduced. An operating loss is not necessarily a problem as long as there is a source of money to cover the loss. This is where things start getting worrying and where questions need to be asked. Under the heading of "current assets", there is a figure of over £1M against "Debtors". In the previous year, this was just £172K. So why the big increase? Who owed us the cash and has it subsequently been paid? I wonder if it is primarily the money we were expecting for the park and ride scheme associated with the hydro scheme project and which won't now be received? If so, that will make our net assets position around £1M worse than the 2023 accounts show. The accounts then show we owe over £3M to creditors. Does this mainly relate to loans made to the club by Morrison and Munro? If so, future investors will want to know how much if any, these 2 expect to be returned. The charges are still in place at Companies House. From my very amateur reading of the accounts, it looks as though there could be somewhere between £3 -4M required from new investors simply to get us to the point where we can start investing in the football side of things. That is a big ask of any "investor". Hopefully Morrison and Munro will write off the loans. It could be argued that if they can afford to provide the cash as a loan, they can afford to give it. Some might say that if they claim to have the best interests of the club at heart, they should certainly write the loans off as they must take much of the blame for the situation the club now finds itself in. And just an observation that the accounts were signed off by Scott Young on behalf of the club. Scott wasn't on the Board for any of the period to which the accounts pertain. I wonder why one of the others who were on the Board during 2022/3 and who are responsible for getting the club into its current position, has not put their name to them? So, whilst there is still serious cause for concern, the fact that the accounts have been signed off on a going concern basis is definitely good news. Let's hope for more in the coming few days.1 point

The charge was put in place long before any of this kicked off and the fans decided enough was enough. He was entirely responsible for his own demise and financial situation. Such a big ICTFC fan and hero that he'll now drag the club down with him?1 point
-
Given that Ross Morrison put charges in place I have serious concerns that he has any intention of writing off what he is owed. Need to also keep in mind that this is the financial position from over a year ago and it required £1.3 million in loans to see us through the 2022/23 season. That £2.1 million figure could easily be nearer £3.5 million (coincidence that this is what the battery farm would have brought in?) today if the same was required for 2023/24. A new investor looking for a majority share of even 50% would need over £4 million (£12 million if they want 75%). Deduct director loans and there's not much left to be doing anything with. Even the auditors have said again that there's serious doubt that we are a going concern.1 point

The club reducing player overheads further by negotiating releases for senior or experienced players should not be a surprise. While Ujdur may not be the highest earner I suspect we are paying accommodation etc so all adds up as a package. This cost cutting has been evident since January and if there are routes for other higher cost players to make way then its to be expected more might follow.1 point

I see what you are saying and it’s indeed very possible that the consortium no longer exists, but these guys have all been close friends since their teenage years (they are all actually school contemporaries of mine) so, de facto, in the event of any vote, I think would be fairly likely to act cooperatively.1 point

If there were a large number of Trust members willing to transfer their personal share holdings to the Trust then 18%+ could be achievable to at least equal the Muirfield Mills group. Personally I have 1000 shares and my family members have a further 750. Small change I know, but they are of no use to me. When they were purchased many years ago they were no more than an enthusiastic donation to Caley Thistle. There is little or no benefit to holding shares for me as an ordinary fan. I realise that this is exactly what the Trust would like but it would be interesting to know how this is coming along together with membership details. Momentum is only gained when people feel part of a larger group. I was one of the original Members Club and I was not happy that at the time that we gave away such a large chunk of our share holdings and more importantly our say in the development and future of the club.1 point
-
The Supporters’ Trust has a fixed 10%, irrespective of how many shares are issued and this isn’t affected by how many members the ST has. This places the ST in around fifth place in a very fragmented pecking order of voting power, top of the list being the Muirfield Mills consortium with around 18%. Historically, the ST rights originate from the original Members’ Club which represented joint Thistle and Caley interests and had a 50% influence, but in order to attract more investors during the 2000s, this was reduced. However, if there was to be some kind of large scale purchase of extra shares in some kind of rescue mission, the ST would still have 10% of a much larger number.1 point

I’ve just dropped off my uncle in law at the Orkney hotel, when I asked what was on tonight he told me that Aberdeen’s Chief Executive Alan Burrows and their supporters liaison officer Lynn Fiske were hosting a supporters question and answer session. I was amazed at this gesture from Aberdeen to send such high profile club officials to a far flung place to engage with what is surely a small fan base (perhaps 150 supporters). I can’t help but consider the contrast between ICT and Aberdeen here. We can’t even arrange proper press releases never mind real community engagement. Anyone arguing that Aberdeen have vast resources compared to us don’t have case to answer, a small number of additional supporters going to a game or buying merchandise as a result of such a session would surely be a return on investment.1 point
