  1. There can be few finer things in life than strolling into your office in Aberdeen when we've just papped the dismals' title dreams. Obviously they wuz robbed by Collum, we're diving hammer throwers, it was too cold, we've no fans, etc., etc. In reality we put in a tremendous performance last night. I seldom agree with John Sutton but he hit the nail on the head when he contrasted Aberdeen's route one/front-to-back tactics with our cultured passing game. Aberdeen simply don't know how to handle Draper and Tansey and in every game against us this season have resorted to bypassing the midfield which has yielded an astounding one point out of nine for the "title challengers" (sic). Given we had a somewhat makeshift defence out last night their inability to penetrate it showed them up as the one trick ponies they are. Ok, they may be sitting in 2nd place 20 odd points ahead of us but given their finances, history and support that's exactly where they should be sitting in this league. Amongst several plusses to take from last night I think we could have unearthed another gem in Jordan Roberts, gave the ball away a few times but with him and Miles in tandem we looked pretty potent up top. Let's hope he kicks on. Add Ryan Williams and Liam Hughes into the equation and we could be on for a decent run through to the end of the season. I'm away for another wander round the office and a further round of gloating. Tremendous!

  2. Evening folks, and HOWDEN ENDER :) First of all, totally deserved win, absolutely zero complaints about where the points deserved to go. Said before the game I wasn't looking forward to it and proved right. Big Yogi certainly has McInnes under his thumb, he seems to know how to set up against us. After we scored ICT literally bossed the game, literally. Was really impressed with the mix of short, sharp passing and the execution of the inch perfect long balls. Add to that the constant pressing and we simply did not have an answer. Can talk about the ref all we want, but the bottom line is, we were as bad as him. There is no way whatsoever that the penalty was actually a penalty, but that isn't why we lost the game, even if he correctly didn't give it, only one team was going to win tonight. If only ICT played with that conviction every other week, I have no doubt you would be up there with us. I hope it clicks consistently because I genuinely enjoy watching you play, a very tidy team. HOWDEN ENDER, you're either fishing and winding me up or you're actually an immature wee boy, cause I'd love for you to show me, of all my posts, in where I have been bitter? I have never been on here to offend anyone, and I don't think I have, I think I've been fairly honest and consistent with my posts. If you're fishing then kudos, if not, then I worry for you :) Anyway, good win and hopefully gives you the confidence to push on and up the table now. Take that level of performance in to the next game and do us a favour, please ;)

  4. What a contrast to the very fair and reasonable Doninpeace. Collum did what Collum does but you were beaten by a far better and more committed team on the night. Dry your eyes and get over it. 'Fans' like you are the reason not everyone on here seems to want the Dons to win the league.

  5. Regarding Draper's "dive", remember that there doesn't have to be contact for a penalty to be awarded. Watch it again, in slow-mo, with this in mind. Having got to the ball and flicked it past Taylor, Draper then saw the defender's high studs heading straight for his leg. He took evasive action, a quick retraction of the lower leg, to prevent contact. This results in him losing balance and crashing to the ground. Note that he doesn't roll around at all pretending that there had been contact. In that scenario, I believe a penalty can rightly be awarded.

  6. Fact is mate, you still lost and that's your season over yet again. The smoke drifting over the pitch in the second half was your title hopes.1 league cup in 20 years for 'Giants' like Aberdeen. Not great is it. Or has that all been because of refereeing mistakes too? Your team barely created a chance last night and were beaten very comfortably by a side in the bottom 6. Its not all bad news though, if you put a run together you might just hold onto 2nd

  7. Updating a stat I showed a few weeks ago, we have taken a remarkable 60% of the available points against Top 6 sides, but only 33% of points against the bottom 6. We are actually unbeaten against the sides in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, winning 5 of those 8 games. We've done very poorly against the weakest sides, though, with only 3 wins from 14 games against the bottom 6, including a mere 1 home win from 7.

  8. I have to say that last night - as always - Richard Gordon and match commentator Liam MacLeod, who are both openly Aberdeen fans, were scrupulously "down the middle" in everything they said... as was ICT legend Barry Wilson who was summarising. What get up my nose - and every club has them to a greater or lesser extent - are individuals like the impeccably named "Diddy" who, in the case of Aberdeen, positively ooze with Gothenburg Syndrome and tend to give that club a bad name for that reason. I actually quite like Aberdeen in that they represent another chance to take honours out of the central belt and in particular away from the Old Firm. However the likes of Diddy give their commendably enthusiastic and loyal support a certain reputation.

  9. A very sporting and fair post and although we were the better team and deserved to win on merit, tonight you were the victims of Collum's incompetence. You have my sympathy because it has often been us. A tough ask for you now but I sincerely hope you only lose one more game this season and go on to give the whole of Scottish football a boost by winning te title. Who knows, we may even do you a favour by taking a point or three from Parkhead on Saturday...

  11. Personally, I was supporting Inverness Thistle. A number of us more mature posters supported either Thistle or Caley but who we supported in the eighties is not important what is important is that now we all support the current Scottish Cup holders. Remind us, when did the 'Famous Aberdeen' last win the most important domestic cup competition ?

  12. These fans rightly get praise for the atmosphere and enthusiasm they bring but there is no place for aggression and violence. We are a friendly family club, we have generally friendly and positive relations with visiting fans and when we visit. Entertaining chants are one thing but mindless violence and aggression is quite another and, quite apart from being criminal conduct which these people would not engage in elsewhere, needs to be stamped out.

  14. Ah Aberdeen. A place where most of it's inhabitants are colder and greyer than their city itself. And anyway, who becomes so angry after their team's flopped to a community-feeder-club-with-no-fans that they read the opposition club's forum and when they don't like what's being said, sign up to hurl abuse? What a sad sad existence they must have.

  15. Cant remember ever reading a more clueless post. Aberdeen had no answer for Draper and Tansy. Aberdeen persisted in punting the ball forward with a hit and hope attitude. Aberdeen had no game plan and no desire to show they deserve to be where they are. Basically Aberdeen were out played.

  19. The decisions didn't change the game, the poor quality of the champions-elect did. To be fair, if you've been watching Pawlett regularly I guess you'd know an embarrassing dive if you saw one. Meanwhile, we recognise a pile of bitter, patronising cr@p when we see that.

  20. Excellent performance, I thought - though had Ash Taylor not handed us an equalizer on a plate the game might have been very different. Yogi's tactics last night seemed a bit crazy - effectively using Roberts and Storey as wide forwards rather than playing a central striker - but they generally worked well and seemed to prevent Aberdeen's full-backs from bombing on as much as they normally would. I couldn't really fault any individual performance. Gary Warren was outstanding, I thought. That's the best game I've seen Vigurs have since he came back - scoring that goal seemed to really lift him and he put in a great shift. Yes, our name came up in the Collum lottery, which certainly helped. Aberdeen were honking after they went behind though. At 3-1, I thought we looked more likely to score than they did. Wouldn't be surprised if Draper got a letter from the compliance officer this week...though Aberdeen fans probably shouldn't throw stones whilst they still have Peter Pawlett on their books!

  21. Your team sh@t the bed. Just like they do most times they get a chance to live up to their champions elect tag. Why do you always get bullied when you lose? BTW, Hughes is a hibbie, not a Tim. Lying down to Celtic? That's why we took 4 points off them last season, something your team of underachievers failed to do. Christ, even County got s point off them last season. Collum wasn't the reason you lost, but he has provided a convenient excuse for clowns like you.

  22. Superb performance. Let's hope we can build on it for the rest of the season. Doninpeace, to give him credit, is right - we would have won with or without the penalty decision, such was our dominance. What the teacup storm obscured was the build up to the decision, with Draper auditioning for the Messi stand-in competition. However, I feel it is only fair to Aberdeen that we do the same to the Glasgow Grasshoppers, and show them how to play the beautiful game.

  23. To be fair he's a fan of Aberdeen and makes no secret of it. I much prefer that to pundits and journalists who support one or other of the Old Firm but pretend to follow St Mirren or the like.....and, in further fairness to Richard Gordon, he hasin the past made similar comments about Peter Pawlet.

  25. ...also a word for young boys - superb throughout and 10/10 for "sheep on fire" chant when that chimney puffed smoke all over the pitch! All of section E created a great atmosphere from start to finish, especially welcome when Aberdire got the first goal. The number of chants in the songbook is fairly growing. Good to see so many wee people at tonight's game - the mid-term school break came at just the right time. So many of them were looking longingly over to Section E like they can't wait till they are big enough to escape from the parents. Great game. Great result.

  27. I saw it the same way... only bit of violence was a Dons fan pushing the face of one of the ICT loons... What would have been interesting is if some of the Aberdeen Casuals had been in the area... I get the feeling our youngsters might have had a good doing over... most of them looked like they were just out of nappies!! Hopefully they don't try the same against the Hibees in the quarterfinal... carnage lol!!

  36. This is all courtesy of watching the game live on BT - I wasn't in the ground. We undoubtedly caught a few breaks last night - and from Collum of all people - but I think we actually deserved that. We have finally come from losing the first goal to winning a game for the first time this season, and it looked like we used their goal as motivation, rather than the heads going down as usual. Gash Taylor was shocking - easily our MoM! I wasn't impressed by Aberdeen, and if they want to play the physical card, fine. That's twice now that they have lost crunch games and are bleating about being bullied. I think it is more a case of lost bottle. Much as I would like there to be a title challenge, I would prefer it not to be provided by those roasters. I wonder if they have to pay extra for hotels for 'crunch' games, because every time they have one, they sh1t the bed! For the penalty, I am tempted to say "but there was contact, and he was entitled to go down" but it annoys me when other teams do it, so I won't. Aberdeen's claims - I've seen them given, but then again I've seen them not given too. Collum was something else. His inconsistency is the only constant. Roberts was booked for standing on Shinnie's foot, but Shinnie got away with the exact same thing later. I thought Tremarco looked quite solid at left back, and Horner did ok defensively, but was prone to losing the ball in attack. Devine and Warren were comfortable enough. Vigurs seems to be coming into some form, and is starting to be a nuisance for other teams in midfield. Took his goal well too. Roberts and Storey played well individually, but the partnership didn't quite hit it off - hopefully just needs time. Mutombo looked dangerous when he came on, and gave us that directness we often lack. Draper bossed the midfield. Bring on the 'Tic!

  38. Just spent a happy hour or so watching much of the game again. Obviously it was great watching it live on TV last night, but seeing it again now it comes over much more clearly what a good, solid performance this was. Everyone played their part. I was initially disappointed that Raven wasn't playing, but couldn't fault Horner. There was some pre match talk about the Aberdeen wingers giving our full backs the runaround. But this didn't happen with Tremarco too having a good game, and a great goal too. (Credit to Collum for overruling the linesman's shocking decision). We absolutely bossed the midfield, and the running of Storey and Roberts up front gave Aberdeen all sorts of problems. We were solid at the back too, although the I had my heart in my mouth a couple of times with the short passing between defenders. But this seems to be our trademark style of play now, and who am I to argue with Hughes's tactics? He certainly got them right last night. Good substitution of Roberts with Mutumbo, who looked good in his 10 minutes. The other two subs were possibly a bit late, but overall a really first class team performance. Best I've seen in the few games I have managed to see this season. So we can go into the Celtic game with absolutely no fear, and with every expectation of a positive result. Onwards and upwards.

  39. I believe what it tells us is that, despite those pundits and journalists who love to knock our domestic game, the Premiership is a highly competitive and entertaining league faring well despite being undervalued by SKY and the BBC and continuing to have no representation from Govan.

  40. Willie Collum gave Aberdeen a late penalty at Pittodrie when the ball was subsequently shown to hit Devine on the chest. Presumably the Aberdeen players appealed too easily!!! And, we certainly remember Considine's push on Foran with 5 minutes to go in the League Cup Final. We still have a big relegation fight on our hands but that result helped us temporarily. Certainly dented Aberdeen's European Cup dreams for the while. Of all the nights to have roadworks on the A96 just east of Tesco, last night was not the best unless you lived locally.

  45. Welcome back Donin.....I do think it will be a tricky game for you and we have every chance of interrupting your title challenge. Although I'm not convinced that Yogi's comments on the eve of the match saying that you are unlikely to maintain your title challenge were particularly cleverly timed. That said, I sincerely hope that you then go on to win the title. Someone other than one of the Bigot brothers winning the league would be the (second) best thing to happen to Scottish football for decades.

  46. Five home wins before the split will be difficult, as only 4 of our 10 games before the split are at home, if I've looked at the fixture list properly! Starting tonight we have a really difficult run. On paper though the last 4 games currently on the list (not knowing when Hearts (H) and St Johnstone (A) will be rescheduled, look like possible wins. They are Hamilton and Motherwell at home and County and Dundee Utd away. As PerfICT has said the County match could even be a top 6 decider, and I'd fancy us for that. The other 3 should be wins, otherwise we our top 6 aspirations will likely be shot away. But enough of the 'ifs and ands'. Lets start it all off with a good win over the Dons tonight. Onwards and upwards!

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner

    • Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Second Leg (0-0)
As much as we have criticised the Caley Jags performance on Tuesday night, let's not lose sight of the fact that Montrose are a decent League 1 side with a good blend of experience and talented prospects. For our part, let's keep them as a good League 1 side and that means no room for faffing about. Time has run out now, there's no hiding places and no room for shirkers. Ditch the sideways passing or put goal posts in front of the Main Stand and tuck shops.

      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.
