  1. Brilliant statement from the club. Well done to the club and, of course, to Robbo.

  2. Excellent news. I don't know if there has been a change behind the scenes, but that struck me as a really well-written statement. Covers all the ground, tells everyone what happened, gets properly behind Robbo and his staff, and looks to the future. All in a flowing, eloquent and non-pompous style. A seriously good piece of writing. Whoever wrote that, please take a bow!

  4. We have a manager and a very competent one at that. Hopefully, the question of our next manager will not arise for several years to come.

  5. It sounds like Robbo, the new CEO, and the club all deserve credit where it is due. An unwanted approach, Robbo telling the club, the club then rejecting it when finally approached. just as it should be. I fall into the camp where I believe we should only reject an approach if the manager is on board with that decision. When he is not, then we have seen on several occasions before that its not worth it in the end and leads to animosity and strife. Thankfully Robbo has nailed his red and blue colours to the mast and it should put a smile on all our faces. We may not be rich, or pay the highest wages, but we do have a manager that is probably the best fit for our club since Pele and has proven he can work with meagre resources. After his past sojourn to Hearts, Robbo knows where his bread is buttered and lets face it, who would want to willingly move to Dundee in the first place !

  9. Given the gulf between what AS thinks we should be spending and what we can realistically afford, I am more concernedabout his grasp of basic arithmetic rather than grammar.

  10. We were ultimately disappointed but, with a third place finish, play off semi final and Scottish Cup semi final all on a shoestring budget, I think that's very harsh.

  11. Is it to early to be thinking about this ? I am fairly pessimistic regarding Robbo staying, in fact I am going to say that I am shitting it regarding him leaving and who we appoint, where are we going etc as our current board are useless twats who sell our best players to rivals, without replacing them with similar quality or even explaining to us fans why they leave etc. So for me, this whole episode worries me so much so that I fear Robertson will resign in disgust at not being allowed to speak to Dundee. Then the fear is, who do we replace him with, bearing in mind that we would not get compensation as he'd have resigned. For me, I would go for someone like Paul Sheerin but we would need to find money from somewhere to entice him to leave Aberdeen. I am not normally this worried regarding our club so that is saying something that even I am fearing the worst. Hopefully I am wrong and, if I am, I will welcome all the criticism coming my way ?

  12. Decent thread! I wish we could recreate the old Howden End atmosphere. Sometimes feel like Juggernaut where I am perhaps berating an official or opposition player and have an uneasy feeling I’m being stared at like a lunatic or being sized up to be sectioned....but I’ll carry on ???

  13. Indeed and given the criticism we've given them for past failures to address the fans and wider community they should be applauded especially by being so open and to the point. Hopefully this is a turning point with regards communication. I'd also hope they report Dundee for the unsolicited approach.

  16. I should have clarified that it bodes well for us. I would be delighted to see Dundee "scoosh" the league in precisely the same manner as 2009/10

  18. AS? I am wondering If half of the posters who are down on you ,Alan , are desperate to add another "S" onto that word. Now that would be uncalled for and deffo rude so if I were you I would just sit back and smile at how easy it is to rile up some folks....just because you are slightly different to these guys. Tut! Tut! If it gets too bad you can always send for the Mounties in Canada. My daughter is a plain clothes Mountie and what would be so difficult about her sending over about ten wild stallions to snort outside the doors of the perfect patter merchants. And Canajin stallions are wild and wise beasties-they never forget a slight so you had better be wearing a red tunic and knee-high leather boots and a stylish hat when you hear them coming. I'm telling you straight, compared to Custer's last stand which was all bells and whistles after he took on 3,000 Indians with about 300 Troopers, it would be by far the scariest thing you have ever heard. Isn't that right, Scotty.?

  19. Apparently Robbo's agent made an approach to Dundee and said his client was interested. I've been hearing that the story about Dundee making an enquiry is fake news and just newspapers talking crap. The only one who has been with contact with Dundee is John's agent. Nothing has been confirmed yet so we are just gonna have to wait & see what happens in the next few days as far as we know it's all just Chinese whispers.

  20. Looking increasingly likely a straight and stark choice between leaving on WTO rules and risking hundreds of thousands of jobs or revoking Article 50 and remaining. Whilst all logic suggests the latter will prevail we cannot underestimate the xenophobic nutters and their populist appeal to the lowest common denominator. No scope for complacency.

  23. Here we go again........ if its true then the club should have learned from previous scenarios. Approaches should be rejected by the man himself only not the club or board, no good ever comes of this.

  25. I could never understand how Celtic let McCart go and go on to sign Hendry from Dundee, there is no comparison. I really believe that McCart will turn out to be one of our best signings and he will go on to achieve a lot in the game.

  27. Now here comes my rant for the season ............... Officiating: quite honestly it's been horrendous and some of the worst I have ever seen across a season and that is not just confined to matches we've been involved in or our league, it's right across the board. The level of arrogance that our referees show towards players and staff is appalling and while they have a very difficult job to do, someone should remind them that they get paid for it and it's their job to keep order. Referees in other sports across the world can do it so why can't they. One of my biggest gripes is the speed at which a referee, and they are all guilty, can't wait to get a card out. At times struggling to get a card out of their pocket while they run to an incident! Take some time, sort the situation out, pull players away, discuss the incident then produce a card if necessary. It projects a better form of control and sets the tone for the game but we don't appear to have one official that can do that nor the authorities to make it change. It's no coincidence that this season has saw more managers than ever speaking out about the levels of refereeing in this country but still they are the ones that are punished, it's about time that the beaks in charge started to deal with the situation properly instead of making managers and players the scapegoats.

  28. I'm 62 as well, and have been a Jaggie all my life. Home and away when work would allow. I'm glad you can still bounce with the best, I haven't been so lucky, I have too many health issues which slow me down now. I'm still vocal at games and can argue with the best, but the looks that I get from a lot of folk makes me think that they enjoy sitting in silence, almost passionlesss. I don't know what the answer is, unless, as you say, get all the like minded folk to change there seats and sit together, which I fear will not happen.

  29. Perhaps I am really an olde git but to me the "terrace" should always be the Home End. Tell me if I am wrong but our Away support is often NOT the group that attend our home games. Many are Central Belters or from Englandshire. But why don't the "singing" home supporters NOT get North Stand season tickets - make a Singing Section down the middle and "make some noise fer the Caley Thistle Boys" ??
    1 point
  30. Obviously the away fans go to the home games as well, but it's just that they will be spread out in different parts of the ground, instead of all being together in one group, shouting and singing like they do at away matches. Because of this, you may be sitting at home matches next to a group of supporters who are not very vocal, and your lone voice gets lost. I shout a lot at games, but most of the folk around me seldom do. I have noticed at some grounds that some of the stands are closed, so that the main stand is full and creates a better atmosphere. I'm sure this wouldn't be popular with the north stand supporters, and I'm not suggesting that we do, but unless we get like minded folk sitting together I feel the atmosphere will not change. We have a very reserved home support, unless the young lads are in with their drum, but they only seem to turn up at derbies, and what they deem as important matches, instead of creating a good atmosphere at every home game.

  31. WEll…...at least it would have to be with Satan in charge! Of course that then raises the ugly thought of what we would have to do with John R. Hostility would then be part of the ticket price and would waken up all the fans who proclaim to be supporters but have rarely showed up this last season.

  32. Like to say that Robbo is staying put, but it is a fair question, who comes after? Do we look back on previous managers, such as Yogi or Butch, or do we look for a brand new manager? My bets on Robbo's successor to be Bazza. He's done really well with the youth side, and it seems to have paid off well with the main team...

  37. No that good a gig now even the great man Yogi Hughes would struggle to get a tube out of our current squad! However there's another way of looking at it surely Robbos remit was promotion he's now failed in his 2nd attempt so a change of managements no the end of the world

Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.
