Clearly too late for this year but can we try very hard next close season not to have yet another tedious endlessly repetitive merger 'debate' ?3 points

The youngters on the forum want to learn who we are signing for next season, what the new away strip will look like and whether or not smoke bombs at derby matches are a wise idea.3 points

You know, I've just been reflecting for the last little while on where this thread is going.... or rather isn't. Once again we have a member of the blue phonebox brigade with much of Torvean Quarry on his shoulder posting his usual complete drivel and succeeding in promoting dissent which really isn't there. As a fairly keen but not fanatical Caley supporter from the mid 60s, I have been happy enough to move into the ICT age with fond memories of a lot that was very good taking place at Telford Street on the part of one of the top clubs in the Highland League. I am usually quite happy to accept that without being over analytical about it. As an Invernessian I also take much satisfaction from what Thistle did and what Clach continue to do. Rather than dissect this to death, I'd prefer simply to look back with a lot of satisfaction on these great past days. But then, instead of celebrating all of that, and the more recent achievement of ICT getting to within 90 minutes of Europe, you find yourself instead almost talking down the old days in defence against Dougal's latest irrantional rant and 20 year old hissy fit of pique. I might ask - why do we keep rising to this rubbish? And I have to admit that I am as bad as anyone for doing so. It's just that I can't bear to see blatant drivel talked without shooting it down. But every time someone shoots holes in Dougal's latest wafer thin gallon can of p!sh, they are actually supplying him with attention which far outweighs any fundamental support for what he (or she) is ranting on about. Once again I have to say... is Dougal REALLY a member of the blue phonebox brigade? Or is he actually:- A - An 80 year old staunchly pro-merger retired social psychologist indulging in some later life research OR B - A secret agent in the pay of a rival SPL club with a mission to attempt to sew discontent among ICT fans OR C - does he just need to get out a bit more? Maybe someone should start a poll. And maybe we should make a pact not to rise to Dougal's nonsense.3 points

What a really great reminder of a wonderful season - thank you CaleyD for the playlist - well done also to all at ICT, CJT and all concerned with ICT. Worth watching over and over again and reliving the goals, especially the away games and the "unexpected" wins - for those of us who pay our money, week in week out, and travel to some fixtures more with hope than expectation, we have been so chuffed to be CaleyJagsAway and share in some memorable games (eg being down 3 goals in less than 10 minutes v Dundee United - our fans and the team wouldn't give up - maybe a draw, maybe a win) (only the ref saw whatever for DU penalty). But, what a game - and what a fighting spirit from ICT - that's why we are fans. More of the same in 13/14 and we will be well pleased.2 points

I once found threads on this subject very interesting indeed and was keen to hear the views and opinions of ex Caley fans, ex Jaggies, folk new to Inverness, folk who took no or very little interest in football in the Highland League days and, indeed, those who were, at the time, too young to care or remember. Frankly, however, although I am guilty of still contributing myself, it must be a decade or so before anyone has said anything fresh or novel. The current merger thread may be at 400 posts but not a single one of them contain anything that has not been aired in any of the dozens of threads on the subject which have gone before. That said, it remains a topic of valid interest so could someone please give me a nudge and wake me up if anybody ever says something new on the subject.2 points

Hows about a Student Diary/Calendar? IE July through June instead of Jan to Dec. I'd prefer one of them, and it can incorporate the fixture list onto the dates too. Not only that but players who have left the club by May wont be emerging on the calendars from June onwards...2 points

Okay well I know it's just the end of the 12/13 season, our best ever campaign, and also we have to see what players come and go but realistically, do you think next season will be the year to get to a cup final? Of course we have broke so many records this season and played in a Cup Semi Final but I wonder if we can go one game further. Only time will tell of course but one year we will do it and with most players signed up and only about 3 or 4 players leaving from the normal starting 11 it is basically the same team from 12/13. Any thoughts?1 point

The youngters on the forum want to learn who we are signing for next season, what the new away strip will look like and whether or not smoke bombs at derby matches are a wise idea. Then no doubt they will read the threads that talk about those things. My advice for folk who are sick and tired of the merger debate is not to look at threads about the merger.1 point

We all need to know our ancestry and the yoof of today would be clambering in with the "Animals " in the Howden End and the original "CaleyAway" crew - lets face it in the late 70's we were feckin rocking the Highlands and the closest I have felt to the olde feeling was at the final game at Dungwall - and that was without my Oxford Bags, my DM's' the Caley scarves round my wrist and ma belt and going to the Strath afterwards,1 point

The other thread has actually reached a point where a few "facts"are being dismissed and we are having the most sensible discourse ever. Why not join in that thread instead of prolonging this Jeggie paranoia - unless of course you are really another IHE personna ?1 point

I remember when they scored and Adams little celebration, then all of the Caley fans just started leaving. All of a sudden we went up the pitch and scored and Adams had his little tantrum... Ahahahah good memories I just deleted quite a few games I'd had recorded on the TiVo box - that game is never getting deleted!1 point

Ferguson is a left back I believe, while Evans is a left winger I think. I see one of our released u20s Ross Aitken has signed for Deveronvale. Fergusons a striker.1 point

If ICT's future was put on the line, do any of you think just a couple of hundred folk would step in to vote for our existence? Either the alleged thousands of passionate Caledonian fans ruling over Inverness couldnt really be bothered to make the effort to save their club or they have never existed. I've heard all the stories about fans being banned from voting but it would be impossible to shut out as many fans as some Caledonian fans think were around at the time. The truth is that there has always been enough latent football fans in Inverness to support full time football. They have always outnumbered the fans of the three Highland League sides combined by some margin. All the Inverness teams got good attendances at in the cups v sides from down south, theyre no measure of a clubs fanbase. I know as a kid I was dragged to see all three Inverness sides for cup games or sometimes the matches against each other, none of the three clubs could really claim me as a fan. The potential was there for any of the three sides to gain league access and be where ICT are now, I think thats impossible to deny. Would Caledonian on their own have been a bigger club though? Would they ****, they'd be the same as ICT are now.1 point

Should we not just make this into some sort if activities days? I think having a FIFA tournament and then a kick about would be ideal for my age group. I was just thinking why don't the different age groups sit together on the supporters bus once we possibly have these activities that may help us know each other more? I think if we all know each other then we will be able to speak more and sit together at matches. Just an idea but I love the thought of this.1 point

Very slow connection here in the Hebrides so this post will probably appear sometime tomorrow....... maybe while you're doing registration Charles. By the way Charles, can't help pointing out that in post #387, by referring to 'normal standards' on p4 of your book, you're contradicting post #386 somewhat (can't find my favourite 'whistling' smiley!).1 point

Absolute nonsense Dougal. In the 80s and 90s, the Highland League was becoming dominated by the teams from the East and all three Inverness teams were not as strong as they had been. The fortunes of the Inverness teams tended to move in cycles with Caley/Clach and Thistle all having dominant spells although admittedly Caly were more dominant in the latter years. Before the mergers, both teams were dying on thier feet in terms of support and, while the merger certainly galvanised the caley support, it wasn't reflected in a massive surge in attendances. Can we put all this to bed once and for all. I was and remain an ardent Inverness Thistle supporter but ICT are now my team and I support them 100%. If people still choose not to attend gamnes because of the merger then sod them and if they are supporting Ross County as IHE states, then I for one, don't want them in our support.1 point
