  1. Not convinced Kenny Shiels will want to travel the A9 that much.

Your spelling and grammar may be ***** but I'm sure you'd still be a better journo than these BBC numpties.
  4. This thread didn't take long to kick in speculation for a couple of hours and were suggesting new managers. Complete lack of respect to the man still currently managing our club.

Sneckboy now bricking it over his "easy money" £100 bet!
  6. Jimmy Calderwood can **** off. We should appoint Sergio Markarian. He's an Armenian-Uruguayan, was Brewsters mentor and has been a hugely successful manager in South America. Just getting in a ridiculous suggestion before Renegade logs on.

If he goes to Hibs then it can only be for the money ..... He has a job to do here, one that he has proclaimed unfinished on numerous occasions. Going to another SPFL club, a club that has routinely performed below Caley Thistle in recent seasons, but which does have the potential to (again) be one of the big boys does not present the same challenge IMHO ... and comes with a lot more pitfalls. At least 3 ICT managers have moved with the lure of a 'bigger' club and more money but found the grass was not greener ..... look up Steve Paterson, John Robertson, or Craig Brewster's (1st time around) post ICT managerial careers as reference ... or he could look up his own career post-Motherwell until he landed at the TCS. Does he really want to give up being King in his own Castle who pretty much has a job for life on his own terms and revert to being just another temporary solution until things go a little sour? I think (and hope) he has more sense than that. I could understand the pull of the Championship or the Premiership (if offered), but another SPFL club ... not so much. Do the right thing Terry. Stay at ICT and cement your status as a club legend by guiding us to our highest ever finish (again), Europe, and a national Cup.
  8. What were you doing on the County bench?

I think the BBC has got it all wong because I am told Chinese State Television has been broadcasting Terry saying he has agreed tactics for the game on Saturday but is not telling anyone. 61 year old Rick Chung, speaking exclusively from his Wok in Paisley Town, said he was actually confuscius by the position because he no speak any lingo proper. He felt Hibs were actually dim sums. Reporter Dewar, meantime is looking a bit wong kei after peking through the window at Easter Road and concluding that their butcher had agreed terms. Kenny Cameron certainly believes she has got it ho lee wong. Mr Cameron indicated that Miss Dewar was wisky in her report. Let's hope Terry is not gung ho and Billy 'I'm going to break my peking scoring duck this Saturday in Leith' Mackay rises above this episode in our history.

I cannot believe the BBC would publish such a story without proper evidence!! Oh no! Wait! Course I can. One thing I will say about Mr Butcher. He's a man of honesty and integrity. There's no way he'd talk to Hibs without the permission of ICT. I also dont believe Petrie would approach him without first seeking approval from ICT.

ICT just posted a job vacancy story: http://ictfc.com/news/club-news/1086-job-vacancies-at-ictfc

Paddy Power haven't closed their book yet and still have Butcher @ 2/7. I've just stuck £100 on fully expecting the 'odds no longer available' message. A 'free' £28 win but merely a crumb of comfort!
  13. If we can avoid any of the utterly horrifying out of work managers who are linked with every vacancy then I'll be moderately happy.

I hope his SFA misconduct charge results in a very lengthy ban!

If Terry had gone to Barnsley in the Championship he would have left with the best wishes of every fair minded ICT fan. As it is now, he can ** **** *******.

Moving to Hibs who have a trigger happy chairman and impatient fans would be a disasterous move. Nobody gets time in that job and instant results are expected, currently that Hibs squad does not have the calibre of player to work in a TB system and I doubt he would be given more than 1 - 2 years before being sacked prior to an AGM. If he did decide to leave, I think the situation is similar to last season where we have a cup semi and doing well in the league - TB and his team I'm sure are aware that this year they could make a major final and also qualify the club for Europe - thus raising his stock and reputation further. On achieving either of those he will have taken ICT to a level which would struggle to be repeated and at that point I would expect him to leave at the ultimate high point. If Hibs do however want him and TB/MM want to go there, then I hope the board demand top level compensation and dont allow our clubs most important assets to leave on the cheap.

I think it's more to do with Hibs having sacked their manager and them looking for a replacement
  18. This thread in a way is a tribute to Terry and the management team. He has been so successful that we all expect him to move at some point. It's also a testament to him that all of us would give them a new contract right now. If he stays and gets top three here or more, then the consensus might be that only a top half English Permiership club would be enough for them to go?
  19. 1 point
Then it must be true because the BBC are absolutely prophetic !!
  20. Think this thread is bang out of order until concrete proof of Butcher's departure is confirmed. Also the BBC need to enlighten us as to where they 'learned' of his agreement to join Hibs. Looks to me like somebody trying to stir it with the Highland upstarts.
  21. The job at ICT needs someone with a passion and a big heart. Someone who can get seek out mediocre players from lower leagues and make them stars. Someone who has a passion for the area and an understanding of very small player budgets. I know someone who fits the bill. Mr. T. Butcher
  22. 1 point
He will stay and sign a new contract. He is using Hibs to get a better contract offer... it's obvious!

Makes the game on Saturday even more interesting. C,mon Caley Thistle
  24. No to Robbo for me. It would be a backwards move. And also a big no way to Levein. A dull man, playing hoofball forward in a 4-6-0 formation. Can't wait.....

Getting bored of this already. Hopefully this will be sorted one way or another.
  26. http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/inverness/247088-inverness-set-to-turn-down-any-hibernian-approach-for-manager-terry-butcher/ He would have to quit to goto hibs it seems and kenny is keen to get him signed up for another 2 - 3 years! Remember the Barnsley situation? we were in the semi's and in the top 4 and he didn't go because "he still had a job to do" shame its not the same situation as then.... wait a minute. :p

If this proves to be without foundation, (only time will Tel,pardon the pun)we should pursue the BBC and Chick Young for all they are worth. Usual central belt sensationalist reporting. Would Chick even know where Inverness is on a map.

  29. Craig Levein.... I can't wait for the 4-6-0 tactic
  30. Ok, as a club we have tended to go for young ambitious managers. However Tel has shown us that an old wise head isnt bad either. So if i was to draw a shortlist it would be something like this. Young and ambitious: Paul Hartley. Paul at Alloa has won the 3rd div and secured promotion to the 1st div in successive years on no budget(like us). His team is made up of young talent so he clearly has eye for talent or has an efficient backroom team. Also they are currently 5th in 1st div. Colin Cameron. Has done a cracking job at keeping Cowden in 1st div on no budget and is used to pash crowds. I believe cowdens average is 300 or somthing Old wise head: Craig Levein. Ok had a horrific time as scotland manager but his club record is impeccable. Took Hearts to europe in succesive years. Only jambo manager to do this. Took a lowly Dundee Utd in 2005 to the best of the rest in 2009 and took them to a league cup final. He has never won a trophy so our league cup potential may lure him. Alex mcleish. Had great success at hibs and Rangers. However this success came from spending money (which wasnt there). Has had mixed success in England but knows how to take average teams to cup finals and sometimes win them. Imo i would like Levein or Hartley. However what are the chances of Levein as manager and Hartley as number 2? That would be pretty fecking awesome tbh!!

I would speculate Hibs may have agreed key terms (salary, contract length, jobs for the backroom team) with a representative of Terry, and then they've chosen to leak the story. Same happened with Hayes being announced as signing for Aberdeen, the player denying it, and then going there anyway.
  32. I THINK ITS A BIT OF A JOKE- SOMETHINGS NOT RIGHT ABOUT IT ALL SO FAR.

If Mo stays we are onto a winner IMO.

Personally feel in a really odd position in that what he has done for us has been incredible, and I'm grateful, but I'm not that gutted he has gone. Despite how well we have done some of the long ball football is atrocious to watch. We are doing so well due to the standard of players we have not tactical nous. Butcher is obviously a huge part of why these players may have come to Inverness but he is not the be all and end all and don't envisage him doing much at all at Hibs. Butcher never got the best out of the players when it mattered, be it a big cup game, or even just when a match was televised. I honestly think we now go on to get to at least cup final, finish in a European place, play well in the odd TV game and continue to dominate county. Thanks for everything Terry, but it's onward and upwards for us now

I'm working in Leith this week, I'll nip round to Easter Road at lunch and boot Mr.Petrie in the baws. Sorted.

TB wouldn't go for the money, he proved that by rejecting Barnsley.

Have followed this forum for a while, but haven't felt the need to contribute.....until now! It looks like Hibs have approached TB now (they clearly hadn't when he gave his interview on Saturday), so the game has changed - the ball is now in Terry and ICT's court. Frankly, I think he'd be crazy to go to Hibs - a poisoned chalice where immediate success would be an expectation from a below average group of players. Turning around that particular supertanker will take a few seasons - I don't think that kind of time will be made available. TB will also insist on taking his backroom staff - hopefully one or more of them will not be interested in the move! Middlesborough might be a bigger draw for him/them? My biggest concerns would be (a) a dip in form that would impact on our finish to this season and (b) Terry coming in to raid our squad of the best players to bring Hibs up to scratch. This is the price of success for a small club! Come on Terry - you know what's good for you and it's right here!

If Terry turns down the opportunity to manage a team in the Championship but accepts Hibs instead, he needs his head examined.

You read the Daily Mail? When I'm not playing croquet with my son Rupert and daughter Prudence, yes! As I said before though, if Butcher's not interested and is not going to take the job, why doesn't he come out and say it now? Remember what happened with Barnsley - a big huge saga and we were all elated when he turned them down. Then the reality set in that he might not be here forever and form took a sudden nosedive. When he was linked with Swindon, he came out and said 'no' almost instantly, now he's saying 'We'll see what happens'. Doesn't sound encouraging to me. John Robertson claims that Butcher spoke to Hibs the last time, while I've also heard rumblings that he applied for Motherwell job the last time it came up and was interested in the Aberdeen job as well (though Malpas wasn't). He said after the Barnsley incident that he'd at least see out his contract here, and I for one, hopes he keeps his word. But while he has the right to leave should he wish, to leave this club and decimate it, by taking key players with him, and turning what could be our best ever season into possibly one of the worst, would be a very bitter pill to swallow.

I really believe he will not join another SPL club.
  41. I was sitting one seat along from a complete roaster at the abandoned County match. I've emailed the club and asked for him to be banned for life.

One person will be loving all of this, & that's Tel boy himself. He will enjoy the publicity& adulation as usual, good for him as well earned. He will also be using it to good effect to publicise the team & promote Inverness in a good way all to our benefit. Also I can see the Caley board unperturbed they`ll just be saying to TB, of you go its up to you! Just leave all your good work behind you unfinished, we`ll just get someone else to move us forward. That should be enough to get TB signed up again. Yes I think the more interest in our Tel and our players the better its going to be for ICT, I think we`ve got some mileage out of the current set up yet.
