This thread is rapidly reaching it's Selby date.
  3. threads like these make me realise why I try and avoid this forum as much as possible
  4. I'd of really liked to have seen what Butcher would have done any differently considering our small squad and fixture pile up, especially since he's completely revolutionised Hibs failing side into this winning machine we see before us. I do wonder where this thread would have been if John's tactics, however negative they seemed, won us our first national trophy. I wasn't a huge Hughes supporter when he first arrived, but surely give the man time to get his targets in the Summer and then judge him. Top six for the second season in succession, a cup final, and a team all signed up on one of the smallest budgets in the Premiership. You can never please some people.
  5. Brill Esson Raven Meekings Warren Devine Tremarco Shinnie Draper Foran Tansey
  6. Well.... Christie and Warren have to start on saturday in which now becomes a match we have to win.
  7. We were in second place clear by 5 points when he came in and already in the semi final of the league cup, which we got through against the worst team in the SPL on penalties. Dress it up however you want, the fact is Kenny Cameron has made a terrible appointment, the media blackout during the process and the assistant manager farce was just the prelude to what we will see between now and May.
  8. Oh aye made top 6 and a final this season! Defo time to sack him .......(sarcastim) Under Hughes we have amassed 17 points in 15 games, an average of 1.13 points / game. If that had been our form for the whole of this season we would have had ~ 30 points from our 27 games and fighting to avoid the play off spot. I am very concerned about what is happening to the team.

When I think back a few months ago about our positive goal difference to where we are now, it's goal drought and defensive leak. Not good.
  10. BBC is saying 2537 crowd. Everybody knows I never believe the BBC Reporting Scotland tonight previewed the game with a caption showing us as the home team, then followed it up with a comment about Stuart McCall taking his team up the road. Do you think our team saw it and are still waiting at the TCS for the opposition to turn up?
  11. Thanks for your post. If we all say no then nothing happens. If we all try a little bit then a little bit more turn up. If we all work at this then together we achieve. North stand fan your target is to get just an extra two in to the stadium thats all I ask of you. This is a test of fan power and to see what we can achieve if we all pull together.
  12. Who is up for the challenge of trying to sell out the home end. We all know the offers given by the club, we know a lot of people gave a lot of time to get things organised for last Sunday. Can you all do that little bit extra and egg on all that you know to attend. Its a season ticket match, they can all bring someone for free. If you were at the match its only £10 for an adult, £5 concession, and under 12 free. Its up to all of us to do something about this and to not only promote the sale of tickets but to see it through and from sales lead to sale. Some people mentioned that they didnt see the flags on Sunday, weather permitting, if I can get my way then they will be passing over every section in the ground on Saturday but each section needs a good turnout for this to happen.
  13. From a psychological perspective many of the posts tonight are closely associated with the anger, frustration and despair that we eventually blew a great chance of winning the League Cup. Many appear to have the new ideal of a European place and nothing less will do. Some appeared to be expecting the possibility of two cup wins and a European place. Perhaps many of us have expectations on a massive scale. And remember that this is our fourth game in 11 days - 4 days after probably the most physically and mentally exhausting game in our history. And the we go away to the team expected to be in the top three and again we expect more.
  14. We got to the dizzy heights of 2nd place because we got off to a flyer with 16 points from our first 6 games. We got off to a flyer because we had a team which was basically what we left off with at the end of the previous season. Other teams then began to gel and play better and our way of playing began to get sussed out. Not counting the game at Hibs when Butcher, whilst still our manager watched from the stands, we lost 3 of the 5 games before he left. That included a home defeat to Partick and a 4 - 0 drubbing in Perth. A significant drop in form happened before Hughes arrived and that may well have more to do with what has happened at other clubs than what has happened here. If Butcher was still here, I'm not convinced we would be doing any better than we are now. All teams go through good and bad patches and I don't see any reason to hit the panic button yet. There is maybe a lack of confidence which is not helped by some of the rubbish posted on this forum. Without doubt we have a talented and settled squad and it is just a matter of time till the results turn our way again. With talent like Ryan Christine just beginning to blossom as well, I am very optimistic about the future.

Christie must start V Partick Thistle!
  16. CHAMPAGNE MOMENT Ryan Christie displays strength and skill to get away from three Motherwell players. Excellent play by the substitute. from the bbc website. has to be a starter on saturday
  17. Thats what happens when we go for the cheap option for a manager
  18. Esson and Warren in the team for Saturday please.
  19. Culloden academy?
  20. Encouraging start from us so far. Remember it's on as live at 10:00 tonight on BBC Alba.

Most Aberdeen fans I spoke to thought Anderson should have been MOM. Certainly the best rear Don

    We're fairly racking-them-up, here!
  24. Why the insistence of those in the know that Doran was dropped from the starting line up for the sake some mysterious game plan. The guy crocked himself against Hibs ffs and was not risked for the whole game. Simples, but otherwise a fairly good assessment of the game.

I thought that there would have been a big cue to get in.
  26. Get Christie in

Apologises for the late report but anyways I attended the game yesterday in Dingwall. It was a very even game and a game I thought we were very unlucky to lose. As the post above says the final result was 2-1 to Rangers. Rangers first goal came from a silly foul from Nick Draper which lead to a penalty which was scored. The game started very high tempo which was majority of it came from Rangers. Game then started to settle down and we started to play some good football. Our goal came from Ali Sutherland, a throw in from wide left into the box which Ali Sutherland met with a volley to the back of the net - very nice goal. Ali Sutherland is someone I would definitely would like ICT to keep hold off. He plays like a very speedy Aaron Doran, definitely one for the future. Nothing really noteworthy happened after the goal. After half time Conor Pepper got injured and got replaced by a young boy that I didn't really recognise (maybe Hayden Hollinger in previous game??) then after that it was same story of just attacks from both teams with no final finish. One thing I was a bit disappointed in was Ben Greenhalgh's yellow card. I think he was trying to claim a corner and then he clear as day shouts at the referee "What f***ing game are you watching referee?" Fair enough I understand that frustrations can get the better of you but it was a very silly thing to do. Rangers finally found the breakthrough in the 70 something minute to which was a shot from outside the box and the Rangers player actually was surprised that he scored, he actually thought he was going to miss, so overall it was a bit of a disappointing performance from Nick Draper yesterday aswell as this and the penalty foul, he didn't catch the ball during a cross aswell. Personally I have always preferred Cammy MacKay and I would like to see him play. After the second Rangers goal we kept plodding away but didn't really get much success and unfortunately missed out on a great point but wasn't meant to be.
  28. With three minutes left of normal time a roar went up from the Inverness end that would have curdled the blood of every Don at Celtic Park. When Andrew Considine wrestled Richie Foran in the Aberdeen box there was an expectation of a penalty. It happened down the end of the ground where the Inverness fans were housed. Under their noses. They could smell victory. Penalty! GOAL ! Final whistle! Inverness's glory. Aberdeen's pain. Again. The collective howl fell on deaf ears. Steven McLean waved play on. Foran screeched in protest but to no avail. Foran was right, McLean was wrong. It should have been a penalty. It should have been an opportunity for Inverness to go a goal up with time almost done. It should have been, but it wasn't. Football is a cruel, bloody game.
  29. Shouldn't have bothered - they've already got it.
  30. I've e-mailed reddie's post to Bletchley Park!
  31. Very disappointed and saddened to hear no transport to game on Wed night at Motherwell. I realise money is tight for a lot of people but out of the the thousands of supporters yesterday I would like to think we could at least have managed to fill a mini bus for an important league game.....The team deserve better than this ,we are out of the cups now so we need to support them to get as high up the league as possible Im actually quite disgusted .
  32. This is very disheartening there is no bus to Motherwell football club away even though I did not intend to travel shame nobody wants to go after such a good turnout at the final eh. azZO
  33. Jeezo, where will we put 8,000 fans Oh, stop feckin moaning you lot for fecks sake.
  34. I go along with IHE, we were sussed out on the old system and that's when the goals dried up, Butcher knew this too and also knew he had no other options to give the lads so grabbed the chance to go to Hibs. Yogi is different he hasn't tried to force a new system on the lads, he has played along with them and is gradually giving new dimensions to the team. He is not a rusher he is calm, knows football, weighs up his players carefully and I am sure he will lead this club to great achievement. Billy does need the help of a productive centre forward and I dont think it will be too long before we get one. Yogi will be patient and that patience will be rewarded.
  35. Plenty of folk don‘t use the buses. I‘ll be meeting other central belt based fans late Wednesday afternoon and heading through to Motherwell. I don‘t go to midweek home games though. Not taking a day off work for it. I‘d imagine this is the same with most Inverness based fans regarding midweek away games.
  36. Without wishing to comment directly on specific incidents in the game, the most enduring, common misperception amongst fans is the 'he got the ball first' fallacy. Getting to the ball first does not mean a foul has not been committed.
  37. What I find disappointing is that out of 7800 fans who turned up on Sunday only 6 were prepared to make the effort to go and support the team against Motherwell. This game is really important as far as getting into Europe is concerned. Must be very frustrating for those who organise supporters buses.
  38. Fair play to the County supporter I was told about in the ICT end.County top and ICT scarf so I'm told. Was that you by any chance Dougal?

No fan of Yogi as a manager and have made it clear that I don't think he is up to the job but 'retard' is wholly unjustified and outrageous. Whether a decent manager or not, he seems a decent man and doesn't deserve such abuse even if we don't win another game all season.
  40. A fantastic experience for me personally being at a final...the only disappointment being that we lost out on the cruel lottery that is a penalty shoot out. Neither team deserved to win over the open play. Aberdeen for all the quality they had on paper had very little to show for it. We set out to hit them on the break while containing them defensively, the latter was well carried out. While we defended well enough we offered very little going forward. We seemed nervous in the final third, and some players seemed nervous just to be on the ball but dont get me wrong for the way we set out we did well. Despite his lack of chances I thought Billy led the line really well. Anderson and Reynolds arent the biggest of centre halves and he won his fair share both in the air and on the ground. The penalty miss marred his day...overall he was our best player. Shootouts are a lottery, we got the rub of the green in the Semi final but we didnt get it yesterday. Im extremely proud of what we have achieved by just getting there and while it means little right now Im confident in knowing that our time will come. With top 6 already being secure it almost felt like the season was over but we can still climb the league and finish strongly. With the final been and gone climbing that table has to be the sole focus between now and the end of the season...would also be nice to see youngsters like Evans and Christie get more time on the pitch, both look very promising. It was a real step into the unknown and while it was a defeat I'm not disheartened...I am and always will be a very proud ICT supporter.
  41. I know it's on TV but not live .Yesterdays game was live on T V but it didnt stop thousands of fans coming out to support team. Sitting watching it on TV two hours after KO is hardly support. Just what does this team have to do ??????????? Sorry for rant but just saying it as I see it !!!!! Yesterday was a Sunday with lots of options to get there by public transport, most of them returning by 10 p.mish.. Motherwell is on a Wednesday night with no options of that. Most of us will have to work on Thursday morning which is not very nice when you come home around 2 p.m.. Most of us have to look how to pay mortgage, food, insurances etc., many for a whole family. This won't be made easier if they get sacked from their jobs for not meeting expectations because they run off to a footie match during the week. So I can fully understand that few will take the trip down from Inverness. But I'm sure that the central belters will be there and make the club proud with their support! Nobody is expecting a big turn out at Motherwell. You only have to think of the very small number of Hibs supporters last Wednesday night for what was a really important game for their top 6 ambitions to appreciate that you simply aren't going to get more than a handful of folk travelling to midweek evening kick offs. Hibs have a much bigger fan base than us, there are probably a lot more Hibs fans who live in easy tavelling distance of Inverness than there are Inverness fans living close to Motherwell and the journey between Edinburgh and Inverness is a bit easier than that between Inverness and Motherwell. So I wouldn't knock fans in general for not going but I do think the club should ensure there is transport for the few brilliant folk who do want to make the trip. The support of these few fans at away matches is a big boost to the team. Perhaps a mini bus or a coach provided by the club at no charge to the hardy few on a first come basis would be a reasonable gesture from the club on the back of the financial boost the final has provided.
  43. I went to the game expecting a drubbing to be honest after our performances in the previous couple of weeks. So I can understand Yogi setting the side up so negatively to some extent. But it wasn't pretty to watch. I think Aberdeen were there for the taking if we'd been a bit more creative. Doran had some good runs down the left when he came on spoiled only by his final cross. Unsurprisingly our best players were at the back with Meekings and Devine superb. When are we going to get the message that Mckay is not a penalty taker? But a good day out all the same. Lost a lot of drinking time queueing to get into the London Road Tavern! Oh, by the way, I thought our flag was ok, but completely outshone by Aberdeen's magnificent display at the start. That must have taken some organising!
  44. Very negative performance from us, we didn't really create a clear chance in two hours of football. All we did was hook balls over the top to McKay and while he worked hard he couldn't do anything with them. We defended very well, aside from the spell around the point when they hit the post I didn't think Aberdeen threatened us. It's disappointing that the best chance we'll probably get in a long time to win a cup we didn't put any pressure on Aberdeen, and if we had they were there for the taking.
  45. by all acounts you played crap. just the way john hughes' sets his teams out to play, the clueless knob. no wonder he was sacked at hartlepool. you would have won if you had had 2 englishmen...terry butcher & danny williams!!
