  1. ANOTHER AGONISING AFFAIR AGAINST ADMIRABLE ACCIES There was as much chance of seeing a goal in that first half as being served in one of the local hostelries. However I was later advised that the local publicans had feared an influx of Old Firm fans due to the Cellic playing early doors and Sevco getting postponed. Anyone we managed to squeeze in to the Tap to raise a dram to Frank McAvoy and Alex O'Neil. If you had been doing a pay at half time to define your entertainment rating then 10p may just have been feckin accurate !! To be fair to Hamilton I thought that they bossed the first half whilst not really looking like a threat. To be fair also we did look solid at the back throughout and it was a couple of indisciplined moments of our making that jangled the first half nerves. Deano had one of his moments after 5 opening minutes when he clattered Meekings with an attempted clearance sclaff. The other was yet another needless booking for Gary Warren but the spirited Jesus Garcia then sent a free-kick over the bar. Fortunately the much derided Imrie also sclaffed his chance as well. Forgive me if I am wrong but our only efforts were both from Greg Tansey and only one was on target and did not exactly test Pinocchio McGovern. Deano to be fair redeemed himself holding a decent strike from Tony Andreu. And then they sold out of feckin pies before the half time whistle. Yet again we came out in the second half like men possessed. I am really not sure what happened in the first 45 but we looked like we were going for a 1-0 on the break. We hardly put two passes together and then we play them literally off the pitch. Some of the passing and especially the movement was a joy to behold. Canning looked very nervy and perhaps the onus of player manager may be too much for him. His slip let in wee Billy and although Pinocchio saved well that was the cue for a change in the bossing. Grant Gillespie saw appeals for a Hamilton penalty turned down early in the second period but that really was the only scare we got from then forwards, Wee Billy then showed another side to his repertoire and set up both the goals - the second being as good a team effort as I have seen in a while. On 53 minutes Wee Billy looped a pass towards Graeme Shinnie, whose his shot rebounded off both McGovern and Gillespie before nestling in the net. It may have been slightly fortunate but it was well deserved. Pinnochio then prevented wee Billy and then turned a Meekings header wide. With fifteen minutes to go we made the game safe with a delightful passing move. Again wee Billy and Ross Draper were the architects - combining down the left to provide an inviting cross that Ross duly slammed past a helpless Pinnochio. Draper possibly could have scored himself but he laid it off to Nick Ross. It was noticeable that the second goal heralded a stampede of departures from the away end as the Old Firm hangers on decided to leave and head for the Buckfast shop. And two eminent gypsies left early doors as well from the midst of the away support. Substitute Aaron Doran passed up a late opportunity to add gloss to the scoreline. But to put an absolute damper on the day Deano collapsed, under no apparent pressure, and it looked like he had jarred his knee. It was more worrying that it took almost 4 minutes to treat him and he was carted off on a stretcher. That also gave rise to the biggest cheer of the day for the return of the Esson. Lets hope Deano's injury is not as bad as once feared but I would say the we are extremely fortunate to have Ryan as back up. So we had seven shots in the second half with six on target, 60-40 possession and four corners. We only committed five fouls over the 90 minutes and, irritatingly to me, two of them resulted in two more needless bookings with Draper following Warren into the book. I even thought Brian Colvin had a good day at the office. I will leave it to Yogi to sum up the day - "I didn't enjoy the game .. There was a real apprehension before the game. We were getting a bit complacent and it showed in the first half... Second half we got back to what we're all about. Even if it wasn't a great performance it showed me the spirit and that's what got us the win. They were the better team in the first half and played some nice football. In terms of us getting on the ball and making things happen that's the worst I've seen us for a long while...But, credit to them in terms of still keeping that clean sheet... We're punching well above our weight. Our main goal at the start of the season was to stay up. I'm serious.. I'm just lucky I'm working with a bunch of boys that want to improve as footballers. We've got a happy, spirited team. It's all about getting results and if you're getting results your job is made easy". That must be the first time that I have wholly concurred with the closing statement from one of our managers SMILEYMOMETER DEANO To be fair he had little to do but did his job when asked - GET WELL SOON BIG MAN RAVEN A quiet day at the office. Did not really notice him that much. MEEKINGS Again effective and nearly scored with a cracking header. WARREN Again solid but I do wish that he would cut out the needless fouls which lead to needless bookings and needless suspensions. TREMARCO Humble pie time fer moi !! Excellent performance and that included coming forwards. Much improved an my MOM WILLIAMS  Another who was quietly effective and played in a more defence minded mode. And possibly suffered from the performances of Tremarco and Shinnnie and our preference to play down the left. DRAPER Excellent "holding" display but the same negative comments as Warren TANSEY Reminds me of a modern day Gary McAllister and that IS a compliment. ROSS Not quite sure what his role was but will give similar comment as to Williams. Did he take his goal well with calmness and assurity. McKAY Poor wee Billy must have been as frustrated as the fans in the first half but showed in the second that there is more to his game than goalscoring. And his constant movement was a joy to watch and relive.
  2. You can't criticise someone for calling others names in one sentence and then call them "scumbag" in your next sentence...unless you're a hypocrite!
  3. It's always worse when it's Hamilton as that abuse is directed at Dougie Imrie. I find it tiresome as well and the guys that shout it need to get a grip, it does nothing to enhance the game or atmosphere and if it was directed at someone in the street or pub there would certainly be repercussions. I also find it slightly disturbing that some posters are choosing to diss the opening post and think it's acceptable to turn the tables on them. It's not going to encourage people to open up on here and with mob rule taking over it's little wonder infrequent posters are just that. Let's get back to a bit of morality on here and keep your sniping for your twitter cronies.
  4. I took one of my boys to his 1st competative football game yesterday. He is 12. As I don't tolerate swearing/name calling from the kids(I know hard for some to believe), I explained before the game that there will be unsavoury language, songs and chants and sat along from where the main singing crowd was. The worse chants/shouts we heard were from the drunk Hamilton "fan"(suspect there may have been an OF influence). Son just laughed at him and carried on watching the game. The ICT songs/singers he thought were great and funny and he joined in with the songs he knew. He wants to move closer to the noise at the next game I take him to. Walking out is just rediculous. Just move, or talk to steward, or, your god forbid, speak to the person that is causing you grief. The kids now think its acceptable the only option to a problem, is to walk away.

Why he has done nothing wrong, he is moving closer to his family probably cause he has a child on the way so why should we be so harsh to a fantastic servant of the club and someone who i would gladly welcome back any time. In my view why shouldn't shinnie wear it he has been playing fantastic and i think that his move has been in the offing for ages now and he hasn't performed badly if anything he has been amazing recently and he deserves to wear it with his pride that he knows he has done everything he could with the club
  6. Swearing at the football matches has always been a thing and I have listened to it as young boy and wasn't particularly bothered by it then/ I didn't understand what was being said anyways. I was at the game yesterday and stood in the row in front of the guy who shouted what was said in the OP whilst I don't condone it especially for a six year to be within ear shot, I didn't think it was as bad as the OP is making it out to be. The whole 'abuse' directed at the ball boy lasted a mere 5 seconds. If you felt strongly about this then you should have have taken the person aside and told him you've got a six year old at the football with you and told him to tone it down that would have been the end of it. You also had the option to move to other empty seats in the away section but to walk out of the ground and then complain on fans forum in my opinion is very counterproductive. Regarding the Dougie Imrie chants also, they have been going about for years when he's played for Hamilton, St Mirren and Morton respectively, again it's shouldn't be condoned but it going to happen. Anyways it's a shame you walked out of the game after 40 minutes, you missed a cracking second half.

Graeme Shinnie is a professional who puts his heart and soul into what he does. ICT are still paying his wages and he will still give his all for this club if picked to play. Suggestions to the contrary are just not in keeping with the lads commitment and integrity. To suggest he lose the captaincy is no more than throwing the toys out of the pram. Players have come and gone throughout our history and they'll continue to do so. They will also strive to be recognised while they are with us and hope to better themselves and their families at some point in their careers. That is the way of most people in most jobs. Best of luck Graeme. Shame you'll miss the chance of European competition.

We now need a new captain starting from Saturday , step up Gary Warren.
  9. Hold on, surely the OP is fully entitled to their view on the subject and others are entitled to their own and disagree? Not sure what you men by 'turn the tables' or 'mob rule' The mob rule I see on the thread seems to be trial by forum where people are suggesting photos and or videos of people who presumably have not given their permission to be posted here. In all seriousness I was just in front of the person(s) being discussed and while the comments directed at Imrie were particularly vociferous and frequent, it's nothing I haven't heard directed at him before. The people who I believe were upset were possibly 3/4 rows in front of me and although it was busier than normal there was still seats near the front that they could have moved to imo. I sometimes take my 3 year old to games and when she's with me I stay a fair distance from the 'singing section' when I don't have her, which is majority of the time I like to be closer by, while not directly in among it. Perhaps we should have a poll on here to clarify what language is OK, what context it is OK to say in and what frequency of language is OK, I said the same to my Twitter cronies. The weird animal noises did irritate the hell out of me though. At least the OP was there unlike an awful lot of folk voicing opinions without seeing it for themselves? However as this is a forum I thought the point was that folk could voice their opinions? Which means we all can have our say? Taking a step back now tbh. Back to my Twitter cronies where folk can be grown up and disagree.

Shinnie a bench warmer at Aberdeen Okay it's not a massive step up in terms of playing standard but he'll be making more money and close to family and friends. That might be more important to him than going down South like his brother. I am surprised that no one else seems to have made a move for the guy and hugely disappointed that he's gone to a rival club in the same league but it's absurd to claim that he'll not be playing. He's arguably the best left back in the league. There's no way he'll be left on the bench at Pittodrie.
  11. I've always taken my boys, now teenagers. I stood on the Howden End from age 11 but always knew what was right from wrong. I'm sorry but are folk so nieve to think there will be no bad language at a football match? Would have fathered they complained at time tho rather than leave. Maybe a bit of acceptance re the swearing on one hand and a bit of toning it down on the other? I was in the Howden End even before you! and my Dad said - just don't listen to the sweary words and NEVER repeat them. I was unable to attend yesterday - unwell - but I can put up with most swearing but the c word is unacceptable in every company - young or old, no matter where. That's the crux of the matter in my humble opinion.
  12. Chants and songs are expected from all fans and can be very amusing at times. The total random shouting of the 'c' word in any circumstances is not acceptable and I think this is what the problem was and not the anti Imrie songs.
  13. Are you suggesting it was the feckin jeggies Thistle fans were always more polite than those rough uncouth Caley fans
  14. What does it actually say? I've not been able to 'find' it word-for-word on the internet. I understand it's a 'cheap' dig at Rangers being a new club and this is their first ever meeting. Which is true. Although, not cheap in a financial sense as that 'advert' would have cost a grand, I'm sure! I had a look on the Bears Den forum and the thread was locked as 'there's no point discussing it' as 'it's been proven that we're the same club'!!! Let them get on with it. Despicable pair of clubs. However, in saying that, I used to dislike (stronger words available) both of them equally, but more recently, I've actually found myself more averse to the Ibrox lot. Glad I won't be out in Glasgow over the weekend!
  15. There's a difference between shouting "Oh, f***" when we concede a goal, and screaming "Player X, you're a f****** c***!" The former is forgiveable (I hope so, because I've done it from time to time); the latter is not acceptable at a football match, in the street, or whatever. People like that should be thrown out, not tolerated.
  16. Swearing, coarse language and innapropiate remarks are yelled out at grounds across this country. If you went and supported anyone else it would be no different. Football attracts all kinds of people. Most can tolerate it but I understand those that don't want to. Throwing accusations at individuals is totally unnecessary though. Especially when you don't know if they were even at the game. For those with youngsters I understand. I work with young people for a living and it's near impossible in the world of today to Shelter them from that kind of conduct. It's highly inappropriate but it's not illegal but as has been said don't sit there twiddling. Say something to them. If that dosent work speak to security though they are pretty feckless themselves. And if all else fails move seats to quieter part of the ground. You shouldn't have to do that but that's the reality of it. While you may not agree with the behaviour and language of those around you there is very little that can stop them.

Dropping Mckay for Ferguson - bold move that!
  18. If you feel strongly about something at a match-say something-don't just walk out- I know for a fact that one of the individuals was spoken to at half time. If the noise is too much - just move further away-not out of the stadium-the team deserve our support at the end of the day.
  19. Colourful language from the stands is part and parcel of football. Always has been, always will be. Especially on drunken away days. Not something I tend to partake in myself mind, but I'd always prefer an overly boisterous atmosphere to an overly sterile one. The trouble starts when one or two numpties take it too far. I think the problem could easily be solved with a bit of communication. A bit of 'self policing' among supporters would nip it in the bud. Had someone had a polite word with said numpties, chances are they would have toned it down, if not then bring in the stewards.

Sorry to see on Aberdeen FC website that Graeme Shinnie has signed a pre contract agreement and will join them in June. I would like to be one of the first to thank him for his service over the past 5/6 years at Inverness and wish him all the best in the future. (Unless playing against ICT)
  21. CJT are having a quiz night on Friday 30th January in the Social Club, Greig Street at 7.30 pm. Teams of up to 4 at £5 a head. Book by PM me or just turn up. Hope a few of you can come. Should be a good night to start the week-end.

Get Lionel Djebi Zadi back in.
  23. Manfer, opinion is NOT fact. It is opinion. The OP has made allegations. At this moment they are NOT fact, they are allegations. Others are therefore entitled to voice contrary opinions, it's just balance. Neither can you moderate in the way you have done and then dismiss contrary opinions with "life's too short/ pedantry" dismissals which are frankly arrogant. Explaining argument and pointing out rule infringements is simply something that you have to do as a moderator - it's your job. I never thought I'd see such poor moderation on this site.
  24. Manfer, you are free to hold that opinion and I fully agree that as a moderator your task is keeping order. That is entirely different to "getting morality back" or inferring that democratic disagreement is "mob rule" You will be aware that I have posted on here and in other places about acceptable conduct, and I've taken people to task about the Dougie Imrie chants before - to their faces - and would do so again. It's factually incorrect, it's tiresome and childish. I'd much prefer that our support didn't chant it. You also need to be aware that Tourette's is a medical condition of an uncontrollable nature, not a voluntary use of vocabulary. As a final point "whatever they are called" has not been asked to check out anything on this matter and if you want that to happen a clearer description of what you want would be needed. If it's on the issue of the OP's allegation, then a request from him would be appreciated.

With Europe being a distinct prospect and so much to play for in league and cup, dropping our best and most skillful player would be cutting off our nose to spite our face.
  26. Watching the higlights now I realise why we struggled in the first half - Accies parked their bus!

He has been a very good servant to the club and, I am in no doubt will continue to give his all until the end of the season. To be critical of him for joining his home town club, with a fan base four times ours, for a substantial salary increase seems to me to be churlish.
  28. I'm not wanting to start any arguements, I appreciate everyone will have different opinions on the matter, and I've been to enough games over the years, I certainly don't expect no swearing or some abuse at players. Yesterday though was, in my opinion, completely different and not what i'm used to at away games (I havn't been to Hamilton before I must admit). It was my sons 2nd game as he has only recently become interested in going to see his Dads team. He enjoyed the singing, the atmosphere, crowds, and strangely enough the guy who was screaming like a monkey? at the end of the 2nd half. He was however very aware of the shouts and screaming coming from one area at the back. It was not the single use of a word (as much as I don't like the use of the C word, I know it will happen and he knows to ignore it and never repeat), but the constant barage of abuse (F***ing pedo C**ts, F***ing beast, i'm going to F**k your mother, you're going to get F***ing battered you wee C**t, I'm going th F***ing kill you you little C**t), which was repeated over and over for most of the half. He had said to me a few times he didn't like it and wished the guy would stop (for the record he was asked to), and eventually said he wanted to leave. People can disagree with what we did if they wish, but i'm sure most parents if their child is scared and wanted out a situation, they would remove them from it. As I said, I used to go to most away games in past years, and try to get to as many as I can now which is harder due to work and kids who previously were not interested in football. I have not previously heard the level of abuse that was at the game yesterday. It is not in my opinion typical of an ICT away crowd, and hopefully is not going to continue to be. I also hope it won't stop him going to more games in the future. I enjoy the away atmosphere at games, and generally they give the team a great support. I do think it crossed the line yesterday though.
  30. With his imminent change of lifestyle the move to Aberdeen would make sense to him and his family. Closer to his own mum and dad and not a million miles from Inverness. Having said all that I cannot wish him well when joining our rivals and as has been said major lack of ambition and a slap in the face to ICT and the fans announcing this when we are in a battle with Aberdeen for league placings. Anyway I hope he likes '80's music and shoulder pads because he will be going back 30 years to be in the same era as their fans seem to live.
  31. Disappointed like everyone else but get a grip FFS, we knew it was coming. The boy's a pro, he'll continue to play for his employers as he has done for the whole season with speculation surrounding him. Calls to drop him are ludicrous to say the least, grow up......
  32. Shinnie signs for Aberdeen http://www.afc.co.uk/news/5611.php#.VMUDIf1yaAg
  33. Noooo...the award is a curse, give it Aberdeen or Dundee Utd Getting the MoTM award for January...and then carrying on in the same manner, must be the ultimate indicator of a good manager! A good win against a side desperate to get back to winning ways...hats off to Yogi for using plan B in the second half, it sounded a bit of a struggle in the first half. Another golden double for me this weekend with my other side winning away from home as well

OOPS sorry - just noticed it said CULT.
  35. To be honest I - believe it or not - focus as much on the actual game and may have learned to block out any surrounding abuse. Plus the voddies may have an effect as well !! I did not think that the "abuse" of McGovern and Imrie was any different to games in the past. I would have to concede that it may be different for families and that is why I have always advocated family sections for both home and away fans. And if we are talking about singling out individuals then I would have said that there were a few of them. I would admit that I joined in with a couple of the chants as did 50-100 others. And it is fair to say that we had a fair number of first time attenders but unfair to say that they were the source of the abuse
  36. I spotted this well known hooligan in the crowd yesterday. Was it him ?
  37. Possible, Canada are already out Infact, it's over, Mexico won and Panama were second
  38. I wasn't there to witness this event but surely if it was only one person spouting this bile then somebody could have gagged him? Also with the wonders of modern technology there doesn't appear to be any photos or, perhaps more importantly, recordings of this/those idiot(s) for evidence, well, not that I have seen anyway. You will always get abuse at football matches but this one does sound extreme and needs to followed up to prevent it happening again. As for leaving the game I find that a bit harsh as I'm sure would have been many others areas to sit out of ear shot. I sincerely hope the perpetrator can been found and brought to book.
  39. Didn't think we were at the races in the first half yesterday. As AM rightly says Accies were pressing us very high up the park and not letting us play it out from the back like JH likes us to do. Imrie especially seemed to be buzzing around our centre backs and there were a couple of mistakes made which, fortunately for us, didn't result in anything. Most of the first half was a midfield scrap. I can't remember us creating too many chances and the best opportunity for Accies was probably the effort from #22 which dipped quickly and almost caught out Brill. The second half though turned the way of ICT and we started to find ourselves in some great scoring positions. Only a few minutes into the second half Mckay found space in the box about 10 yards out but his effort was expertly saved by McGovern. Perhaps indicative of the game so far the opener was also pretty scrappy. A ball hooked over the Hamilton defence was pounced on by Shinnie, his shot was saved by McGovern but as the ball rebounded back out it hit the onrushing Hamilton defender and looped over McGovern and into the net. Very fortunate but happy to take it. McGovern was back in action shortly after denying both Meekings and Mckay from extending ICT's lead. Meekings had his header from a Tansey corner turned round the post and Mckay had another goal bound shot blocked. However the second goal soon arrived. Inverness attacked down the Hamilton right and Mckay played a ball across goal to Draper who played a neat pass back into the middle of the box and Nick Ross seized on it to make it 2 - 0. Only sour note was the injury to Brill. He jumped to claim a high ball and either collided with another player or he landed awkwardly. Apparently he's "popped his knee" which sounds disgusting but JH has said it may not be as bad as first feared. Hopefully he's back soon although I am quite content with Esson deputising for him.
  40. Tom English is the guy who writes columns and he is an educated type of bloke. Love his critiques.... Just the man to put Derek in his place. But at least paying homage at the shrine of ICT is proof positive that he has contrition in his heart and a secret admiration for our team....not! Let's face it, he was there with dad to run the rule over our team . Must have been quite a shock to see how successful we have become. If ICT give County a drubbing well, now, he doesn't need to feel as bad and can contain himself. I'm hearing from my Scottish Pimpernell man-on-the-ground that Neil Lennon would like to come back to Celtic ..or, at least, he is open to the suggestion. Never thought you would fit into an English team, anyway, Neil. so ...who knows?
  41. can we not just brush this under the carpet and move on as its spoiling a good day and us winning today
  42. In all this furore did nobody think to maybe tell those concerned to zip it?
  43. JH's interview also suggests that 48 less 39 is 11. (For the record, we were 5 points ahead of Hamilton this morning, so the gap is now 8.) Edit to add: but who cares if his arithmetic is a bit dodgy if he can turn a game at half time like that!
  44. JH's interview suggests that Deano's injury might not be as bad as first thought? If there's a chance he'll make it next week, there's hope that the ligaments are OK.
  45. I don't suppose anyone has a photo of this individual or better still a video with sound which could be used on Social Media to shame and potentially name him?
  46. Fantastic day, but Brill's injury put a dampener on things. Don't be surprised if he's out for weeks/months. Looked in a lot of pain and they took ages getting him onto the stretcher. All seemed very innocuous, I think he just fell badly when jumping for a ball at the back post. Let's hope it's not as bad as I fear, and wish him a speedy recovery.
  47. Sounds like a bad one for Dean...but we have a very good replacement in Esson!
  48. Today's game at Hamilton is ICT's 900th competitive fixture in all competitions.
  49. Starting the ball rolling with Nick Ross at ER. No other explanation needed
