I see that Kenny Cameron has announced he's stepping down as Chairman. Personally I'd like to thank Kenny for his years of service and helping to give me some of the best football memories I have. I've met Kenny on many occasions and he was always a genuine guy who had time to chat and I've never doubted that he had the best interests of the club as heart. All the best in your retirement.

For what my opinions worth, sacking the board? To be replaced by who ? As stated before , I didnt see a queue of fowk lining up to volunteer. They also didnt have cases stuffed with cash. Unfortunately. The mistake, if there was one, may have been to appoint an inexeperienced manager. This has not turned out well. His comments on Saturday after the game did him no favours and showed his lack of management skills in firstly admitting there were "bad apples" but also the fact that he hadnt removed them before. Not the cleverest. We have good players, most of them , I think they have been badly led. We have had bad good times and now we ve got bad times but I ve supported the team, Thistle, then Caley Thistle since 1974 and I m not about to stop now. Team needs us, more than ever.
  4. Where is the mouthpiece CaleyD ? He seems to have gone into hiding .
  5. Very kind words. I'll certainly be over as much as possible next season as i have done this season and past seasons. I aim for 4 games a season which i have hit this season. I'll be aiming for the same again next season. The welcome and hospitality i received on my very first game over a few years ago will stay with me forever along with all the other trips i make over. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of walking away because we got relegated

There are plenty of other threads in which you can criticise him and the board......and have done so often enough. IMO it is rather ungracious to disagree with the sentiment of this particular one even if you feel that change at the top was needed.

Ah well I didn't see that. Not saying it didn't happen obviously. I was too busy staring blankly off into the distance of the Moray Firth to really notice anything
  8. Very surprised to see the amount of folk wanting to keep Boden. Seems pretty horrendous to me. Keeping Fisher is absolutely vital. Not only has he finished as our top scorer despite being frozen out of the team for 7 odd months, but he works harder than any other player on the park. That sounds like a critisism of other players but it absolutely isn't, it just shows how much of a work ethic Fisher has. Great asset to the team and great with the fans.

Do you know that I have more pressing concerns in life to concern myself about the "post mortem" of our relegation. Shitt happens. We have been performing above our means for some seasons now BUT what a feckin joy it has been. What a feckin experience. So we have gone down. Aim has to be to retain as many of the present squad as we can do. Aim is to get back into a play-off position. Que sera. HOPE IS ETERNAL.
  10. It's not true to say that communication has been poor........it's been none existent !
  11. Ok so I was wondering how our relegation season compared to others, here is a list of the bottom side since the introduction of 38 games. 2009 - Inverness 37 Pts 2017 - Inverness 34 Pts 2005 - Dundee - 33 Pts 2007 - Dunfermline - 32 Pts 2010 - Falkirk 31 Pts 2013 - Dundee 30 Pts 2015 - St Mirren - 30 Pts 2003 - Motherwell - 28 Pts 2016 Dundee Utd - 27 Pts 2011 Hamilton - 26 Pts 2004 - Partick - 26 Pts 2012 - Dunfermline - 25 Pts 2014 - Hearts - 23 Pts 2002 - St Johnstone 21 Pts 2006 - Livingston 18 Pts 2008 - Gretna - 13 Pts Looks like we were very unlucky again in terms of the amount of points gained.

Well said. Real supporters will follow their team whatever Division they are in

as stakeholders not shareholders, we dont really need to come up with an alternative. that is for the shareholders to worry about. we, as fans, are merely making our feelings felt. i think its not specifically this season that has been the problem, but the straw over the camels back. Can we get this embroidered onto the shirt for next season please: "From Bucharest to Brechin, in TWO YEARS!!"

The board give the fans the opportunity for free tickets to the game and are rewarded by the lack of respect by the youngsters who took advantage with a pathetic pitch invasion and attempt at a protest. Perhaps if they had any sense of how the world works they would see that not only did they ruin the chance to hear what players had to say. Not a single poster on here calling for the board to resign has presented an alternative option or suggested where the money will come from. Perhaps they need to look at our squad size and distribution of experience to realise the board backed Foran big time with wages and loan signings, perhaps mistakes have been made but I suggest the board other than maintaining faith in Foran have done all they could.

Thanks due without doubt but a mixed bag. He steered the ship well and steadily in calm waters taking us to some exotic and exciting shores. Not such a good captain though once the seas got choppy and the first mate mutinied. when he promoted the cabin boy to first mate who then steered us onto the rocks. Nevertheless, I hope he enjoys his retirement I am sure he is as disappointed as any of us to be leaving at such a low ebb and on such a negative note after so many highs under his leadership. However, now the next captain can get on with repairing the hole in the hull and we can embark on the next leg of our glorious journey.
  16. Agree with those who want Fisher to stay. Has done well recently and would do better a league down. We need somehow 1) To start discovering more Shinnies, Christies and Polworths coming through the system and 2) To have a manager who can look at all the players being released just now from SPL sides who might just be rejuvenated at TCS and rejuvenate them 3) Spot players in the HL and Juniors who are improving and ready to step up. Should be, er, nae bother.
  17. Actually, I suspect a great number of us would have loved the ability to be privileged to play football for a living, job security or not. They are very fortunate young men.
  18. Quote from Alex Fisher - “If I am part of the plans then I would like to get involved. I’m not sure when we will have that chat as I don’t know what is going on regarding the board and positions so I guess I have to wait for that to settle down before they start looking at players for next year. “That conversation may be a few days away.” Looks like Fisher may be keen to stay on. Would suggest that he is one of our maim priorities for retaining next season.

Agree with much of what you have said sheepslagger. The problem has not just been last season but not kicking on after we won the cup. Again the board must share some of the responsibility along with John Hughes. There does seem to be a total lack of understanding in football matters by the board which is something that could be fairly easily corrected and at no cost by getting the correct director in place.

My turn to agree with you and give you a green dot into the bargain. Even if we'd enjoyed our best season ever instead of possibly our worst, it was always a crass and inappropriate thing to have on an official club crest. I sincerely hope that whoever was responsible for that decision isn't the same person who is now responsible for the vital decisions which are likely to shape our medium term future.

The embroidered "Pride of the Highlands" has been replaced with "Pride comes before a fall!"
  22. The problem is that ICT has no bargaining position to encourage players to stay. What the club would like to do and what it will be able to do are 2 very different things. right at this moment, I would imagine that all the players will be reading the small print in their contracts. Those on loan (King, Billy Mckay), with futures secured elsewhere (Tansey) or having not signed contracts (Meekings) offered will be gone. Most of the ones on short-term deals (MacNaughton, Cole, Fisher, Brad Mckay) or able to leave for free (Horner) will also likely be gone, although some efforts need to be made in Fisher's case. That leaves a core of players who are contracted, but who might have release clauses around relegation. some will certainly wish to trigger those (Fon Williams) and some will be waiting to see what happens. I can't imagine anybody who could leave would want to stay under such a poor manager. Draper, Warren, Doran, Tremarco, Raven, Polworth, Vigurs, Boden, Mulraney all fall into this boat. Even some of those who did want to stay might be invited to cancel contracts, due to lack of cash. This is why it is so urgent to remove Foran immediately. At least then approaches could be made to these players with reassurances that the club was changing direction and was under safe management (if such a thing exists). Without immediate action, the armageddon scenario of a complete exodus is a real possibility and then we really are screwed.
  23. Interesting stats, but a more pertinent figure is what was the tally of the second bottom team, as that would give a better guide as to how often we would have still finished bottom with 34 points.
  24. Well, if you were a board member doing your job you would, if you haven't already (which would be the forward looking strategy), be making discreet enquiries with players and coaching staff to gauge what, if any, support there is for Foran. If the consensus is negative, and would entail losing players who might stay otherwise, then you have to report that to the board and take a decision with that in mind. If the consensus is overwhelming, then Foran's position is untenable. Of course it is also your responsibility to ensure financial stability so you have to balance that with the costs of letting him go. However, if the long term goal of getting back to the SPL is achieved more quickly without him then the short term loss is balanced by the gain of getting back up. Nobody can guarantee that, of course, but you have to look at the balance of probabilities. You might also consider that if a manager like Hughes was sacked for his disruptive attitude, then the same principle might apply here, given that car crash interview.
  25. Tbh I don't think you'll find many players wanting to stay if Foran continues and they have the option to find another club..this could be a very difficult summer if we have a new manager.
  26. This is Sunday, they'll all be at the Kirk.
  27. In keeping with the ICT tradition of doing something a bit radical, I'm really warming to the Darren Dods idea. He has successfully steered Brechin through League 1 and will be managing at our level next season anyway. I watched most of the game on Alba yesterday and they actually play football, something most of us struggle to remember

I would also like to thank Kenny for all his hard work and for all the great memories over last few years. Ive had some great chats and was grateful for his help and support on several occasions. As Fraz says hope he enjoys his retirement
  31. Or maybe he should take note and do exactly the same. I also read that he has not asked for any compo. Respect.
  32. CaleyD is in the boardroom right now holding all the members to ransom until they make the one big (easy) decision we all want

In that case, let me indulge in a bit of Devil's Advocacy. The scenario you have just described is that of a customer of a business. What would normally then happen is that a dissatisfied customer would take his custom elsewhere... but I have a feeling you won't be pitching up at the Global Energy Stadium next season. You do seem to be looking for the best of both worlds - leave the sorting of the business to other people, don't participate as a shareholder (even though that entitles you to attend and speak at the AGM), but retain the right to complain. Is that not a bit like looking for influence without responsibility?
  34. We got 28 points against the teams that were trying.

This! A lot of fans in hospitality on Saturday as was witnessed by singing etc at back of main stand
  36. Could be an even more difficult Summer and season ahead if we stick with the one we've got.
  37. Belfast Brigade, when I tried to give you a green dot for your post I was told I am not allowed to give you a green dot. What on earth is that all about I wonder? That's the second time I have seen this statement about my not being able to give green dot for what is clearly a positive and uplifting post. I think you are marvellous and being so far away from Inverness merely emphasizes how excellent an attitude and example you are to other fans of Caley Thistle. So, for this post that you have just made, I have given you another green dot....and lo and behold, surprise, ....it has registered. Must be a glitch in the site's programming then? Hope you stick around for next season since you are an inspiration to all our fans. Cheers. Scarlet
  38. That's how Terry and Mo went about it, you can't be sentimental in football management especially with a small club like ours who can't afford to carry any passengers. They made some hard and at the time unpopular decisions over players including our aging legends, but in the long run they were correct. Then there was also players like Adam Rooney, Danny Williams and Andrew Shinnie who decided that their future lay elsewhere months before the end of their contracts and they were allowed to move on, there was no point in holding them back because they didn't want to play for the club any more, we want players who want to be here. Richie's comments about rotten apples and how he couldn't be rid of them just looked like a show of weakness, it was sad to see a once great player and a very good captain reduced to that kind of comment just moments after we were confirmed as relegated. If players don't want to be at the club while the season is in progress then they should be shown the door regardless, they are just taking someone else's place and wages who might want to.
  39. We should definitely get Machine in, if only to destabilise Brechin in advance of next season's relegation battle.
  40. Oh we can speculate all we want and we can also not buy season tickets nor spend our hard earned at the gate either if we the supporters are not taken seriously by the board. Supporters just won't go to games next season if there is no change, has to be seen to be some movement forward.
  41. The only two players still with us that have improved over the last two years are Polworth and Tremarco. Those are two we need to hold onto.
  42. I would have had a great deal more respect for RF had he admitted that our terrible and ultimately disastrous season was as a result of his naïve and inexperienced managerial mistakes but that lessons have been learned and that mistakes, oft repeated this season, will be eliminated next. However, instead, he ducked responsibility and tried to scapegoat players that he did not even have the guts to name. That demonstrates to me that not only does he not have the ability and experience to manage he doesn't have the character which is worse. Ability can be learned and experience gained. However, character and decency of treatment cannot. If Foran had accepted his very large share of responsibility I might have had sympathy for the notion of giving him until Christmas to show whether lessons have been learned. However, these post match comments have convinced me once and for all that he can never be the man for the job. One thing we will need in abundance next saeason is a positive team spirit and sense of togetherness. No manager with the attitude Richie demonstrated yet again and more starkly than ever in his final post match interview of the season is ever going to be capable of providing that unity. Other very good Championship teams are already preparing for next season. We need to be having a management cull this week to be ever to give the new man, whoever he may be, the maximum amount of time to do the same.
  43. That's what i call wishful thinking. There is no evidence he has learnt much at all, given he had a whole season, and his attitude to the players seems vindictive and undermining. Would you really trust him to build a new squad and attract some quality players? If he stays he'll be gone by November as we look the unthinkable in the eye. And we will have wasted time and even more money, and be stuck with a mismatched, demoralised squad.
  44. Carl tremarco won fans player of the year. And he's being awarded it at the first home game of next season.
  45. Well it was a up hill battle battle from the start. The board, remaining players and management need to take a long hard look at themselves over the summer. Still i don't regret flying over for this day. Got to be there for the bad times if you can do the good ones. I'll follow the club to any division. Still hurting today and will for a while but we must start rebuilding now

One major flaw there would appear to be that these are volunteer directors who receive no remuneration for what they do on the club's behalf and you also appear to want to make them financially responsible for losses incurred - in a business which doesn't follow the basic rules of economics in the first place. Jam on both sides and butter round the edges comes to mind. Any profit they make goes into funding a player pool which already has costs way out of proportion with what the customers pay for the product. Any loss in what is an extremely high risk business and you expect these volunteers to be personally responsible. I wonder how many volunteers there would be to become directors if these were the rules? And what precisely is meant by "fund the losses"? How would you propose they do this? In advance of a definitive outcome to the current situation, I'm not going to attribute blame publicly although I generally take the view that, in an environment where room for manoeuvre has always been extremely limited, the Board have made mistakes which must also be viewed alongside the successes of their watch. I am prepared to say as much, and elaborate on it objectively when things become clearer... all under my own name. On the other hand, I can't help but feel that caleyboy has a preconceived "anti-board" agenda which he is content to express from behind a mask of anonymity.

Have to agree with all of the above re youth development. Growing up , AstroTurf was the surface sold on making first touch and passing better, yet as a country we produce fewer first class players now than we did when kids played on streets and in fields with jackets as posts. I know the game is greatly different now, but kids are over coached from an early age, instead of letting them enjoy and learn to love the game before we get into serious stuff.Do we think Patrick paying £4m for training facilities will produce more talent and better end product than currently? Can't see it myself. Better end the post as starting to sound like my Dad, and besides, they are away to lock the doors to my care home.
