  1. Watching Tremarco score the winning goal in a cup final at that time and the following celebration was worth the trip. For someone who has put in so much effort for caley superb. When it comes to it football finals are won by moments of magic and that was certainly a magic moment. Live long for caley fans cheers Carl ?
  2. Well done ICT, a struggle but we got there. As soon as it is possible Sign Daniel Mackay on a long, long contract and ensure a huge sell on fee is written into his contract. That lad transformed the Team's attitude as soon as 'he came on.
  3. Very fitting that our only real player of much quality should get the winner after a great pass from our young 'star to be'
  4. Don't know what people are moaning about, we just won a major trophy! Would you rather we played well and lost? This was the biggest game most Dumbarton players will ever play in their careers. The underdogs on these occasions are always fired up and running through brick walls. Of course we weren't going to roll them over. I'll take an ugly win every day of the week! In stark contrast to Yogi Hughes who would've driven him to Celtic Park and begged him to sign for them.
  5. Racist or not, it is stupidly derogatory of someone who wants to help out ICT.
  6. The manager drove to York (370 miles), picked up Daniel MacKay (and Kieran Chalmers I believe) and drove back to Edinburgh (200 miles) where they stayed overnight before heading on to Perth (a further 45 miles.... all "ish"). Daniel was asked about it in his Sportsound post-match interview, where one of the questions was "so who got to choose the music on the way back?" to which the answer was "oh there wasn't any music because the gaffer talked all the time". Making that trip in advance of the stresses and strains of managing a team in a cup final shows quite a lot of commitment to tge job.
  7. A truly awful game of football where it got to the stage I was willing either team to score just so I could go home! Fitting that Tremarco got the winner considering his last Final appearance and kudos to young McKay who made an impact when he came on. Hope he's signed up on a very long term contract!
  8. Charlie Bannerman So, you finally admit that really you don't believe in free speech--unless it's coming from you. eh? Correct me if I a wrong, but have you yet said one word of encouragement to this youngish new member up to this point? If the answer to that is, clearly "no", would it not be better to say nothing at all and just spend your time reading the other postings on here? To be honest, taking into account that I don't think he has uttered one word of negativity against either the team or any poster who has accessed this thread yet, why are you so negatively critical of what he says and come across as sneering, or indifferent to his proposals. I'll quit whilst I am ahead.
  9. Agree. Punching above our weight is the sort of patronising comment beloved of condescending central belt pundits. We were in the top league for all those seasons on merit and with proper organisation and sound management, both on and off the pitch, there is no reason why we can't be again. Scottish Cup wins and European campaigns may be rare and special events but there is no reason whatsoever why top flight football should be. The reason why we are where we are is nothing to do with our fan base, geographical location or lack of resourses but everything to do with appalling mismanagement in the board room and the dressing room ever since that amazing season
  10. What a lovely day for a trip to Perth. It may not be fourteen thousand at Hampden but it is a cup final. Let's sing our heads off and bring some silverware up the A9. A chance to create a shaft of light in an otherwise dreary season.
  11. Come on ICT, bring the cup home and give us a great day to remember from this season!!
  12. Basically butcher can recruit good players but can't coach them. Hughes can coach good players but can't recruit any. I'm glad we experienced them in the correct order.
  13. Make it so....comrade ?
  14. Not the greatest game ever but let’s give credit to Dumbarton. They defended very well indeed with a game plan to stop us playing. They kept things very narrow giving our midfield little space, and then they closed us down quickly making it difficult for us to find space. Having said that, we should have had the quality to find the cute passes into the space behind or to take defenders on - but we didn’t. That’s a worry. Mulraney looked particularly ineffective in a situation where getting past his man would have given him space to use his pace. Doran and particularly MacKay added that bit of sparkle as the Dumbarton defence tired. We might have got 2 or 3 at the end (Vigurs awful penalty apart). Doran drew a smart save from the keeper and MacKay took a shot when he had better options. Getting the cup win should be a great psychological boost, whilst the final 10 minutes should give some clues on how to break Dumbarton down in the games to come. As I say, not the greatest game ever, but a really important win for a number of reasons. Finally. Delighted for Gary Warren to be able to play in a final and collect the silverware.
  15. More than that, our first international trophy!
  16. TREMARCO TRANMERE!!!!
  17. Our 6th cup final, won 3 lost 3, but today was the first one we’ve won against a team that wasn’t a league below us!
  18. Ah well just in from Perth .... We won the cup....and tremarco scored think that's about all I remember about the high points. Great performance by young mckay tremarco and Donaldson though. Daniel made all the difference
  19. I've dragged my kids to some dismal away days recently and this was their first bit of football magic. A 93rd minute winner in a final right in front of us. Doesn't matter how bad the football is, there's not much in life that beats that feeling.
  20. I will never have felt as angry and annoyed with my team for winning a cup final. Absolutely dismal embarrassing performance from most of the team. Exceptions could be made only for Ridgers, Warren. Donaldson, Tremarco, and the subs.
  21. Took my daughter to her first ever football match and spent 90 minutes thinking she’ll never want to to another one, but what an ending. She says she enjoyed it, but I’ll perhaps need to explain that games don’t always result in a win, a cup presentation and all the confetti!
  22. I really don’t believe that. If one man deserved that it was Tremarco.
  23. Well it wasn't going to be anyone from the forward line, was it?
  24. So Vigurs now jogs around feeling sorry for himself!
  25. No right back. No penalty taker. No clue. We are fecked.
  26. Why Vigurs??????????? His record is utter mince on pens. Really poor.
  27. Not just invisible but totally useless.
  28. Really poor football. Dumbarton had the better chances. No wonder we can't attract a crowd - That's dire entertainment for a final. Give Doran a run out, it certainly can't get any worse.
  29. You don't have to read it, or be so grumpy about a young lad wanting to help. You're quite the profligate one with your posts.
  30. In that case I wish he would just do what the other sponsors do - sponsor the club- rather than turn the operation into an eternal Soap Opera which has now extended to 50 posts, 18 of these from himself, extending across two pages and seven days.
  31. Jesus and my posts have been deleted and I got barred for summat similar. Changed days on CTO ?
  32. I will be there doused in Feckin spirit.
  33. Can you quit with the racist crap, please, Charles? I damn near called you out last time - this time I am. Didn't the reactions to your earlier post teach you anything?
  34. wish i was there but couldn't make it due to work. I'll be there in spirit bring it on home inverness caledonian thistle
  35. Blair..... are you sure your real job isn't answering customer service calls in a tin hut in downtown Delhi? ?
  36. Time to put this to bed once and for all and focus on the present and future. We've had great times, bad times, and many more of both to come, I am sure. We've a final, admittedly of a small cup, but need to help the players build a platform to build from.
  37. And he's scored judging by the club's twitter feed. Well done Daniel.
  38. Will be there tomorrow and hoping to see an ICT win. Taking two of my sons and three of my youngest's mates. Up to Robbo, the players and all others with the team to get themselves motivated and ready to win..............the last ICT win I saw (other than a scrappy (League Cup?)win against the Blue Brazil) was the cup final v Falkirk. Have seen some shocking performances since then. Time to start turning the tide.
  39. WHO CARES IM GOING and will have a great day out supporting my team with my mates hope the cup heads up the a9 mon ict lets do it
  40. International cup final! 3rd most prestigious cup in Europe.
  41. I’m in Madreed right now and saw Ronaldo score 4 last Sunday but I’ve chartered a helicopter which will land in the centre circle at 1600 hrs in time for Oakley’s day of days. Viva la tap in.
  42. DD I think you are being very harsh, what did Butcher achieve when he went to Hibs? after all he made the decision to go. I think he would have been delighted with 29 points. Re the DU game which I referred to earlier in this thread and the reasons for that defeat, my point is this, had JH not changed the players mentality and style of play we would have won nothing. My regret is that the style he infused the players with which got results, despite crippling injury problems, the club should have maintained that philosophy going forward as a template for how the team should play. That style forces every player to be responsible for the ball and improves their touch and vision, if either is lacking they are quickly found out. Touch, vision, movement backed by fitness which is a given, plus understanding how you fit into the overall team structure both offensively and defensively are the essentials of any successful team. The great Marcello Lippi was asked what was the greatest asset he looked for in a player, and he answered intelligence. If a player is intelligent he can understand all of the nuances required by the Manager and how he fits into the overall plan. I really don't understand the reluctance to give JH the praise he deserves for what he achieved without all the speculative backbiting, we shouldha couldha, wouldha if Butcher hadn't upped and offed, he did and the rest was a wonderful part of our history. So much so I've written a song about it which I will put up on the site time permitting.
  43. Agreed OCG. I did think the SC final was marketed pretty well in 2015 and of course it carried the extra gravitas of being the SC final. It's absolutely great that the club has got to this Challenge Cup final but, to be realistic, as an occasion grabbing the public imagination, this can't match not only the SC final but also the LC final, three SC semi finals and a replay and arguably also two LC semi finals. However, I do also believe that this final MAY have the potential to have influence disproportional to the occasion, in that if ICT manage to win it, that achievement could help to kick start the overall momentum of the club after a very difficult period since last May. Yes, I agree that winning the Scottish Cup did nothing to build momentum then, but things are starting from a rather lower level on this occasion.
  44. Now that CMIB has raised the issue, I think I'd want to add that I'm getting a bit tired of it as well. If you're going to do it, just do it. When Blair first posted on this forum some months ago, I was mildly chastised by one or two fellow posters for what was a mildly abrasive initial response on my part. Their reaction wasn't wholly unreasonable, on the original premise that Blair was just a young lad making a point about the club...... as opposed to the Slavic, Putin-supporting Oligarch which he has now revealed himself to be. Hence I now feel slightly less inhibited. (So here's hoping that Poloium-210, tabun, sarin or dodgy umbrellas aren't among Blair's merchandise! )
  45. Should read the CJT Stand ?
  46. Is there not an element here of wee boys going behind the bike sheds to compare willies, but with the strange twist of each secretly hoping his will be the smallest so he can find something to blame his parents for? Following a miserable 2016-17 which produced nothing more concrete than relegation and then a big struggle to make an impact in the Championship this season, Inverness Caledonian Thistle is now less than 24 hours away from a National Cup Final.... and what do we see on its fans' forum? Some people still looking for anything at all to moan about and for somebody else to blame for perceived shortcomings of governance - most recently, Cup Final ticket sales - when the focus should really be on the game itself and the chance of a potentially corner-turning cup success. Well done to Huisdean for an excellent post about 10 above this one.
  47. Good Lord! I thought the Beast from the East had brought us quite enough snowflakery! Now it seems that referring to a frequent daily experience - unintelligible nuisance calls originating from the Subcontinent... or even perhaps to such calls as simply being unintelligible.... is considered to be racism. Our freedom of expression seems to have declined a very long way in a very short time since the days of "The Wheels On Your House".
