Very many congratulations to the Scotland international cricket team who have just completed a victory over Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup

Bear in mind that Bangladesh are a nation of 165 million where cricket is, by a margin, the number one sport in contrast to Scotland with a population of 5.5 million where cricket is probably not in the top five sports either for participation or attendance.

Well done lads.

Scotland complete a clean sweep of victories to top their qualifying group and reach the tournament proper.

A Scottish international XI to be proud of.

They’ve done really well, regardless of what happens from now on.
A few South Africans in the squad (just like the rugby team these days) but most of the team seem to be Scottish, which makes it even more impressive given the lack of professional cricket played up here.

If they could get two victories in their group they would be delighted.

Perhaps over Afghanistan and the qualifier from the other pool, either Ireland or Namibia.

However, as Yngwie says, they can be proud of their achievements whatever happens next.

Slightly unfortunate with some of the marginal LBW decisions but taught a real lesson by a very good Afghanistan team who could well go on to surprise a few of the bigger and more established teams.

Scotland beaten by fellow qualifiers Namibia

A decent performance by the bowlers could not rescue the side after our abysmal start to our batting innings.

Almost certainly Scotland's last opportunity to win in the tournament proper has gone but this nevertheless represents a very satisfactory tournament.

After a crushing and humiliating defeat by a team even lower than we are in the world rankings, Scotland restore pride by being very competitive both with bat and ball in defeat to a New Zealand team who remain one of the favourites for the tournament.

New Zealand were in 3rd gear against us.

Another (self)destruction against India today. Ability levels not as high as the as the full test playing nations be expected but mentally pretty inept  as well.

Shouldve looked to take more singles rather than play into India's hands and commit to boundary strokes when the pressure is on the batter not bowler.

Simple run chase follows.

Simple run chase duly completed. I would not be quite so hard on our players as you given that they were up against an Indian team packed with superstars.

I would also dispute that New Zealand were in third gear given that it was a must win game for them in their quest to qualify for the semi finals.

And Scotland only lost by 4 runs! 😀

At least we didn't have to play Afghanistan again, that was a real drubbing.

Yes the Indians are good, but we got ourselves out to decent balls through terrible shot selection.

That's scoreboard pressure when we can't take singles.

As expected, Scotland end their participation in the tournament with a heavy defeat to Pakistan who have, thus far, been imperious in the group. No disgrace in that.

However, they will be ruing the fact that they were outplayed in every fixture. Particularly disappointing will be the heavy defeats to Afghanistan and Namibia who, on their day, they are well capable of beating.

Looking forward to the semi finals now being contested by the four best teams in the group stages any one of whom could win the trophy.
