January Transfer window news

I kinda stole this idea from P and B but tbh I try and start one close to the transfer window opening so maybe they stole the idea from me 😛.

Anyway I don't think we'll see much action in this window and tbh we don't really need much, I suspect most of the Dunc rebuild will take place in the summer :).

Imperative that we sign up David Wotherspoon on a longer contract as he has been very influential in our recent excellent run/turn in form.

I'm not sure on 2 of our other loanees (Anderson and Boyes) so will let you guys decide or post your opinions 👍. But on Cillian Sheridan I do think that he will be offloaded as he hasn't contributed to the team in any way which I think DF will have seen during the cup game against Cowdenbeath.

In terms of what is needed, I would say a striker is imperative, preferably one that can score lots of goals though I understand they aren't easy to find, any other bits of business will be a bonus imho but in Dunc we trust 😀.

Why do the directors need to talk direct to players anyways other than passing pleasantries? Contractual matters are through agents and any comments on playing (which have nothing to do with directors) should be channelled through the manager or coaching hierarchy.

The comments on Welsh may be true or otherwise but he won't be the last player to leave that fans start talking negative about to make it sound like we are better rid.....

Time will tell how fit he will stay for the rest of the season at Queens park   he could be a good player when fit but I am not sure he was value for money at our club.

The guys might be able to interview him for a podcast as I think someone has suggested already.

Now nearing the end of the month and still haven't heard many names ...

I'd be worried if by next Friday we have no new players!  Think the squad we have should get us past Broomhill ( touch wood + fingers crossed )

Not if Billy doesnt play. We're a team that could play for days and never score unless he is on the park (especially now Wortherspoon is gone)

Hopefully Doran will be fit enough for the game and Keith Bray could do with a run out.

Last round we changed the team to play Cowdenbeath and needed late interventions from Mckay and Wotherspoon to take us through.  We need to play a full strength team or we could easily lose.

I think a full strength side is all we have at present!

I think the club are preparing supporters for a poor performance on Saturday.... ' Matchday Info: Broomhill (H) | 20.01.2024  The ICT Sports Bar is open from 1pm on Friday. '

Peter Pawlett wasn't on trial. Will Baynham and Callum Haspell from Rothes have been training with the club and played against NCFC according to rumours

Haspell has joined Queens Park  who paid a fee to Rothes apparently.

Start full strength team.

If lucky to get a few goals then give others some game time.

if we do as Cowdenbeath game and lose this time imagine the wrath on here if the next round draw is kind to Broomhill and they draw any of …… rangers, Celtic, hearts, Aberdeen AWAY.
what a financial gain that would be to any cash strapped team, especially us.

Taken from today's Courier:

Duncan Ferguson " It's ongoing, were trying to get the best players we possibly can, We're fighting with othe clubs to try and get deals over the line.

we're looking at a number of positions and hopefully we something done before the end of the window, If not we go with what we've got! "

FFS that last comment is a worry.

Suspect that's a bit of an appeal to the higher ups at the club to get the fingers out and help get new faces in. If we go with what we've got we're in real trouble.

Well that's Ferguson's plan A fecked.

Its always a waiting game and bit of poker though isnt it? Need other clubs to complete business so they are willing for loans to go out or need players to realise they arent getting a better move so its us or rotting in reserves.

Will it be an influx of young, developing and upcoming talent though or old and past it on the decline. Gambles probably all of them.

Worried we are an injury to Billy away from being relegation fodder though, so we definite need a forward option.

If we don’t get players in we are down, 9th at best.

We've signed Alex Samuel on loan from County until the end of the season.

Hopefully just what we need to compliment Mckay up front.

I wonder if County would lend us Henderson too, as he’s not had much game time either. That would be ironic after them (allegedly but from a very good source) telling St Mirren they’d pay them £10k more than anything we could offer when they signed him last summer.

He scored 10 (not counted in the 11) in this season’s North of Scotland Cup, albeit against lower standard teams, but maybe lack of game time has held him back? Time will tell.

Possibly the small fee that they were going to give to us for Sean Welsh before we let him go for nothing 🙄

Loaning players from County!  Surely this is rock bottom, which gives me hope that the only direction for the club from this point is up.

Makes some sense - no relocation costs - our experience with Welsh players has been positive so far.
