Kelty/ Is this a joke - merged thread

Club Statement
As one major part of our planned strategic restructure of the club, ICTFC are delighted to announce an innovative agreement with League 1 side Kelty Hearts which will see the club move our training base to the Fife club’s New Central Park Stadium.
This creative partnership will mean that we will hire their excellent facilities which include a 3g pitch, onsite grass pitches and offices for our coaching staff, as our training base during the week starting from this coming pre-season in June.
The last few years have seen the geographic challenges in getting players to move to the Highlands become ever harder for a number of reasons.
Caledonian Stadium will always be our home, but other factors in Scottish football have changed and where we train should not be an impediment to the quality of the players we can attract to Caley Thistle, or to our potential to progress.
The commercial success of the city of Inverness – which will always be our home - both as a tourist destination and a place to live, has led to very high prices for the accommodation we require to house players. In addition to these high costs which our competitors do not carry, the extremely limited housing stock in Inverness continues to be both a challenge and a huge factor working against us.
Increased playing budgets in and around the central belt has meant that on many occasions, even when we have offered players more favourable terms than our competitors, sometimes even agreed deals, we have then been told that the player has changed his mind due to challenges relocating their families. Support structures in and around the families of players may all be in and around the central belt, partners will have jobs where they live and moving kids schools to the Highlands and moving home itself can just be seen as impractical for a one or two year contract.
It makes it particularly challenging for us to sign senior players, a category which through no fault of our budget, or of previous ICT Managers, we have struggled to attract in the last few seasons.
Similarly, our location means that we miss out on the opportunity of signing promising players from the larger clubs in Scotland, on loan or otherwise.
For the avoidance of any doubt we absolutely intend to continue to develop our own homegrown Highland boys and we will take the appropriate steps to make sure that by being creative, innovative and practical, they do not miss out on the chance to have a pathway to first team football with their team. We have a proud tradition of introducing local players in to our first team and this will absolutely continue.
We obviously never intended to be in the same division as Kelty when originally exploring this concept, but football throws strange things at you sometimes and having reassessed the proposition and judged that the pros still far outweigh the cons, we would like to thank the Board of Kelty Hearts and MD Stefan Winiarski and his management team for considering this unique to the SPFL partnership, and then seeing and agreeing on the possibilities and benefits for both clubs.
To reiterate, by moving our footballing department's training base to central Scotland, both the club's Board of Directors and the club's First Team Management feel we give ourselves the best possible chance to attract the highest quality players to the club, allowing some of the players we sign to also live in and around the central belt while playing for ICTFC.
We now look forward to taking further positive strides on and off the pitch to address the football and financial challenges we face we believe this exciting opportunity to help us attract players previously not available to us and build a better squad, is one of the first steps we can make and we hope to develop further innovative partnerships.
Inverness is and will always be our home.
The Caledonian Stadium will always be where we play our football. We hope this venture will help us achieve our goal in giving our supporters a team to be proud of.

Yes it would be good to get an update what is happening with the appeal. But if part of the problem with the initial application was that it was rushed and incomplete, it would make perfect sense for the club and its legal representatives to spend as much time as it takes to get it right and make the best possible case.

That would be a first and totally out of character.

They're also not allowed to make any change to the submission that went to council so the only thing they have to do is write a letter saying why they think the decision was wrong.

Sounds like we should be building a hotel at the stadium!

ClubNews-copy.png.d553dfef92790a2ef879b4a4977ae81e.png

The Club is delighted to announce that our esteemed CEO is in the process of implementing his latest innovative business proposal for ICT.

ICTFC considers itself very fortunate to have an individual of Scot's talent at the helm and is, again, in awe of his imagination at dreaming up these excellent business ventures. We simply have no clue where he gets these ideas from!

With our imminent moving of football operations to Kelty, this leaves the stadium of little use to the club except on 'home' match days. Therefore, and without delay, the bulldozers will be moving in to clear the site in readiness for constructing the brand new CLUB HOTEL. It will be called the Gardiner Scot Hotel (very) Ltd. and be the latest addition to this exciting new hotel brand, consisting of . . . . ehm just this one.

Not only will the hotel be open for business to the tourist trade, it will also accommodate our own players on 'home' matchdays! The good news is that this could save the club up to £90 per player per night!!!! Strict security measures will be in place to guard the players privacy and ensure they do not come into any contact with the general public of Inverness. We can also exclusively reveal that our CEO has been in lengthy dialogue with Rangers FC and struck a deal that will see them having full use of the hotel on their visits north to play our (formerly local) rivals Ross County. Scot is staunchly proud of striking this deal, and when it concluded he loudly proclaimed "I Am The Person!!" and punched the air!

Of course we remain slightly committed to playing some of our matches in Inverness, and these will now take place at the Bught Stadium - depending on its availability!

We trust our valued supporters will be overjoyed with this news.

Assuring you of our full attention at all times, ICTFC.

Just so folk have some context to this the planning application was officially refused on or around 14 March 2024. Section 6 of the Guide to Planning Appeals in Scotland states that the limit for appealing is three months from the date of the decision. Looking at the DPEA website shows a total of six appeals, since the battery form decision, within the Highland Council area. Only three of them are a Planning Permission Appeal (PPA) and they are located in Farr or Drumnadrochit.

So this means that no planning appeal has been submitted for the BESS (yet!) and they have something like 17 days to get one in.

I could be totally wrong but I think they have 3 months from the date on the refusal notice, and it was dated 11th April, so that would give them until 11th July to get their appeal in?

On the dark A9 highway, cool wind in my hair Warm smell of burnt pies rising up through the air Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, I had to stop for the night There Scot stood in the doorway, with some snake oil to sell And I was thinkin' to myself, "This could be heaven or this could be hell" Then he gave me a handshake and he showed me the way There were voices from the North Stand I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel Caledonian Such an empty place What a big disgrace Plenty of seats at the Hotel Caledonian Any time of year There’s no players here

I've not seen the official notice but assumed it would be dated close to the time they refused the application at the hearing in March. If the notice isn't dated until 11 April then yes that would give them some more breathing space to get their appeal submitted.

ETA: You are correct the decision notice was dated 11 April so they'll have until ~ 11 July to get something into the DPEA.

Not good. Two men that know the club inside out

All the wrong people resigning .This is unbelievable.!!!

Rumour has it that the club's pulling a U-Turn on the Kelty move. Though, given Scot's ego and the fact he can never be in the wrong, its probably a load of guff

If the club do a u-turn, the person / people who came up with the daft idea in the first place simply have to go too.  Fingers crossed.

Also… if there’s an enforced U-turn, then any subsequent insolvency event may end up being attributed (although not necessarily attributable) to that U-turn and those who (very rightly) pursued it.

I think you are 100% right Charles, but if this goes ahead it’s the beginning of the end for the future of Senior League football in Inverness (for the time being anyway)

If that has indeed happened with both Grassa and Charlie then I am sorry, that speaks huge volumes. I know neither are everyone's cup of tea, and everyone is entitled to their opinions, but both played for the club, both have been involved with the club for decades, both are LOCAL boys, and both should still be associated with the club. In fact both might be the figureheads in the boardroom and backroom we (initially) need to get behind to get us back on track and start getting the city, and local businesses and people behind the club again. It will be a long and arduous task after the mayhem and destruction caused by the current incumbents.

We will see. thats a lot of ego deflation to endure and humble pie for one man to eat.

Bullshit. I agree they will likely try to spin it that way, but this was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Too many hair-brained cunning plans that Blackadder would have been proud of. The chairman did achieve unity however, so I will give him that. We are pretty much all united against this absolute folly of a decision and our ineffective CEO.

If the application was made by ICTFC and appealed by ICTFC then it is all as valid as it ever was. I presume there are then commercial agreements, leases etc, between the relevant companies, which do not have to be published anywhere.

Yngwie - With regard to the Planning Appeal (and the apparent delay in submitting it), surely ICT Battery Storage Ltd with one share in the name of ICT FC was controlled by the FULL BOARD of Directors of ICT FC.

When that Company was changed so that just THREE Directors were allowed to take decisions surely the appeal became more problematic with civil servants wanting to see evidence to re-assure them that there was no change? There would be a board minute authorising the change. You mention 'presume' but it would be essential.  The first question the civil service would ask 'is why change the power structure in the company which placed the application to Highland Council....just after it refused the application? The minute would explain.

If Charlie and Grassa have indeed resigned and given the fact that season ticket holders are in the main not renewing what are thoughts on Centenary Club? Do all the funds from that get directed to Community Trust?

I was of the understanding that funds helped youth development? I could be wrong.

Take Arbroath, I spoke to the ex-chairman the other day. They don’t train in Arbroath

Pretty sure they don't train 125 miles away though.

*Edit* Just did some quick groundwork. If Arbroath trained in a similar manner, they would be training in Kilmarnock

He is also laying the groundwork for "If we don't do this the club will go bust" excuse. Totally missing the point entirely.

£200k/year on accomodation (as per Morrison's comments in that interview) sounds like quite a figure. Going rent for a 4 bedroom house (surely bigger than what is needed) in Inverness seems to be about £1300/month. So that would be equivalent of paying entire rent (not just contribution towards it) for nearly 13 houses?!

Indeed - that is quite the number and bears further investigation. Does it - for example - pay for housing for any non-playing staff? I would hope that we are not paying the full rent/mortgage for 13 houses.

On a business level, I would not baulk at us subsidising a player's relocation costs and housing for a defined period (within reason), but it should not be ad infinitum. Thats the way most employers work when they ask you to change location.
