Dear Mr Cameron, As I'm sure you are aware, with the impending liquidation of Rangers FC not too far away and the highly likely prospect that you and the other chairman of the remaining SPL clubs will vote on the matter as to whether to allow a "NewCo Rangers" to join the SPL. As you know, the fans are almost completely of the opinion that a NewCo Rangers, should they be allowed to join the league system, should start at the bottom of the ladder in the Third Division, just as the newly formed Caledonian Thistle FC had to do back in 1994. Mr Cameron, vote for the wishes of the fans. Vote for dignity. Vote for justice. Vote against an organisation that has exploited sectarianism and bigotry for it's own gain. Vote against a NewCO of a club that has stolen millions to buy itself success. Vote for you to be seen as a man and ICT as a club, who said NO. Mr Cameron, vote NO to NewCo. Yours sincerely, Renegade ICT Season Ticket Holder4 points

The first point I'd make here is this: I do not see myself punishing the club I support by not supporting them if Rangers Newco stay in the SPL. I will not only be walking away from the club I will be walking away from football in Scotland simply because my conscience will not allow me to have any part in supporting a crooked regime. To do otherwise would, in my mind, be aiding and abetting the cheats and taxdodgers of the game. Everyone is talking about loss of revenue and clubs will struggle in a league without Rangers. Wheres the facts and figures. Its all supposition. Sky have never said they'll pull out, nor have they said they'd invoke any clause in contract. Why should they. With over a million customers in Scotland Sky make a lot of money here. They pull out of football and many, many customers will pull the plug on them. No Scottish football on the box and I wont be paying for their package. Loss of gate reciepts? Next season we will likely have one home game against Rangers so we could lose some 3500 ticket sales. A potential maximum loss of 88,000 except it wont be because many of those tickets will be children and concessions. Next season we have two local derbies to look forward to. Ticket sales for them will more than offset the loss from a Rangers visit. A level playing field for everyone with league monies being distributed in a much fairer way would offset the losses to clubs like us. A more realistic chance of finishing a season on top of the league would offset the losses. But how much the loss if people with the same principals as myself decide to forsake football. For every 100 that stay away thats a potential loss of income of £22,000 or more. Having watched and read as things unfold I believe many more than that will stay away if Newco are permitted into the SPL3 points

Note, feel free to delete this and rap me on the knuckles if I am posting an opinion which will get the forum/site into trouble re our libel/slander and being nasty to people laws..or shift it to a more appropriate thread. If Charles Green is only in it to win it, as he has said....quote from the Daily Fail article of 8th June...... However, he did agree with King's claim that Green - like Whyte - will not last a year at Ibrox. He added: 'He's absolutely right on that because the minute I finish doing my job here I will leave the club. 'My job is to remove the debts, get Rangers on a sound footing and put £20-30million in the bank. Once that is done, I'm of no use to the club at all.' So was it Green who saw a moneymaking opportunity for himself.....regardless of what happened with Rangers......and went out looking for investors.......or was it investors who went looking for a front man to help them profit from the previous bad management? Seems to me, if Green and the accumulated unknown investors had really had Rangers interests at heart, rather than just their own, they'd have offered the £20-£30 million he thinks he can make available for a possibly acceptable CVA, and not hang onto it to buy players for a newco in the SPL. How has the "we are important to Scottish football and have the money to ensure it even if we have to shaft others" mindset changed? Quote: We said from day one that our intentions were to acquire Rangers and the CVA was always the preferred option. But not, it appears if that means putting the money into Rangers as was, to hold on to the history etc and maybe come up with a CVA which would give the creditors more than 9p-0p in the pound, then not having the money to spend as a newco to keep them in the top two in the SPL when the currently self interested money grubbing clubs vote to let them off with their illegality because moral and ethical has nothing to do with making profit to expand the shareholder take.. I'm hard pushed to differentiate between Murray, Whyte and Green in the chancer stakes....but if Rangers get accepted as a newco, how long is it gong to be before we are back posting like this again? Dundee got conned twice by chancers and were punished......how much leeway is Rangers going to get just because the SPL deem themselves above the SFA, because it is the self-interested vehicle for the OF? Didn't think the SPL should have been allowed then, and I have never changed my mind since. An elite group with two clubs at the helm, able to control everything and decide on their own regulations to suit those two clubs, completely outside the SFA rules..has given us a "top" tier which has sod all to do with Scottish Football, and everything to do with making profit for the OF. Unfortunately, while there has been no great benefit to the "other 10" in attendances as far as I can see, there has been in income, given the media is keen to televise the Rangers/Celtic bear garden which gets SPL clubs a measure of extra money...(much on the lines of reality TV where the completely irrational makes good telly)....and certainly makes immediate concerns re what can "I get out of it" more important than giving a toss about how the Scottish game is perceived in Scotland, far less world-wide. Is that worth killing the Scottish game........really? Do we make our game the laughing stock of the world for the sake of two clubs, both of which, if we are going to be completely honest would more than happily bugger off out of Scotland if anybody else was stupid enough to want them? They don't really want to be here.....we don't really want them here....but we still allow them to dictate the terms of their participation in our game. I think that we have far too many clubs for our population and support levels, tbh, and would welcome a re-organisation of the SFA.......but that reorganisation must include bringing the SPL back into the body of the kirk and not having them as a separate entity above the rules all other clubs have to endure.3 points

If anyone listened to today's radio scotland phone in, it would have divested them of any last shred of sympathy for this odious "institution". There is so much unsubstantiated rubbish being peddled as fact by the west coast media (because if there was no rangers, what would they write about?), their arrogant fans and Mr. Green that the reality seems to be buried under a great steaming pile of bull s*ite. The SPL will be in a position to vote within the next two weeks about admitting the newco. There can now be no further sitting on the fence on the grounds that its all hypothetical, now is the time to act. It is therefore incumbent upon every SPL chairman to indicate which they will vote in order that supporters (the people who pay the wages) can have their opinion heard and lobbied to these self same chairmen before the vote is cast. Tell the club what you believe should happen. There is not a single shred of evidence that Sky will pull or devalue the broadcast contract if Rangers (called this for simplicity) are demoted to D3. Sky have said nothing, at least publically. There is a lot of doom laden opinion but NO evidence. No Rangers means a north derby, an edinburgh derby and probably a dundee derby. Each of these games, in addition to being attractive to broadcast will attract greater crowds because there is a chance that the outcome of the games might have some relevance to the outcome of the league. Greater compeditiveness means that standards will rise, or do we pass up this opportunity to watch a hate filled festival of bigotry and bile four times a year? Look at what congregates at the Portland Club every year in July to march through our City and tell me that you'll miss it. Or do nothing for "financial stability" We may well miss the crowds that Rangers brought to TCS, but are we not on their list of clubs to boycott after our chairman had the temerity to criticise them for bypassing SFA/ FIFA accepted standards to overturn even the meagerest of punishments that have befallen them so far? Kenny Cameron has a chance, a single chance to come out on the side of decency in this. If he does and things do get financially tight, or we struggle because of it I will remember his decision, do what I can to help and back him to the hilt. I will, however, find it difficult to forgive if we vote to admit the newco with or without further sanctions. I suspect that others will find it equally unpalatable and stay away. From these boards (and others) this is not an isolated opinion. we could lose support in droves and find ourselves equally if not more financially straitened than if we as a club had done the right thing. In reality, there is little to consider here. Rangers have behaved abominably, cheated and swindled and still refuse to contemplate that they stand or fall by the same rules as the rest of us. They are not too big to die, we don't need them and Mr. Cameron, you need to tell them that we don't want them.3 points

Read the Daily Record article this morning and you have to give reporters credit for producing stories from next to nothing. Three pages of bluster from a couple of lines apparently said by a "Sky Insider" which, as far as we know, could be wee Jimmy who makes sure the cameraman doesn't trip over the cables at Ibrox. You really have to ask why they weren't reporting so heavily on the rumours a couple of days ago that Sky had given the SPL assurances that a deal would be done regardless of the Rangers situation!!! Don't know what's worse, the Daily Records continued attempts to fight the Rangers "cause" or that the story will be an irrefutable "Fact" in the eyes of the readership by the time most people have finished their breakfast.2 points

I find it ironic that the potential "saviours" of Rangers over the last year have been messrs 'Green and Whyte' .... definitely agree they should be made to jump through 'hoops'. sorry could not resist it.2 points

I think the last time i saw such cross club backing for any football related controversy in the past, was when ICT looked liked being vetoed from joining the league due to not meeting SPL ground regulations. The will of supporters was strong to see a travesty overturned despite the loss of revenue for some and longer journey times etc. Supporters want to see healthy competition, and all are fed up with the stagnation of the game since the 90's. The time has arrived for real change and if the opperchancity is not grasped the battle really is over. As Kingsmills alluded to, the highland league grounds will probably also see more of me as well if a capitulation takes place.2 points

I don't suppose my single stance will hold any sway with our board whatsoever and maybe it shouldn't but I have been considering what I would do in the event of our club voting a newco Rangers back into the SPL since the possibility first emerged in February. It may be a sad reflection on a middle aged man but ICT are a significant part of my life and one of a limited number of connections with the town of my birth. I have, often to the amusement of others, been following a team I still stubbornly refer to as The Jaggies ever since I bought my first overcooked bridie from the pie shed at Kingsmills over four decades ago. Witnessed the trauma of merger and stomached being the junior partner in the grand project of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. I have revelled in the remarkable rise and achievements of the boys playing "primarily in blue" with just a hint of the much more attractive hues of red and black. I think it's wonderful that my children take for granted the fact that the witness international footballers kicking a bit of leather about the Longman every second Saturday whereas when I was their age the realisic ambition was to make the last four of the Qualifying Cup and maybe, just maybe, survive a round or two and and bag a " glamour" tie against the likes of Morton or Kilmarnock. I am a businessman so I am not naive about the superficial fiscal attraction of contriving a way of keeping Rangers in the SPL and there would no doubt be a short term financial benefit in doing so. In my opinion, however, whichever cub, including our own, went down that route would no longer be worthy of support. Leaving aside the fact that many of those who have follow followed Rangers over the years are steeped in bigotry and sectarian hatred, to which our domestic football authorities have largely turned an expedient blind eye, the club have now been exposed as having lied and cheated their way to success and, having been caught, have shown little or no contrition opting instead to seek scapegoats and to rail against their accusers. All in all a slightly long winded way to reiterate that I agree with the original poster and to say that in the event of ICT supporting Rangers resuming their place in the SPL as though little or nothing had happened I will never watch them again and, instead, lend my support to Inverurie Loccos who are my local Highland League club. The loss of my few hundred pounds a year will have very little effect on the club and I actually hope that very few others do likewise or there might be serious consequences beyond the relatively short term pain of doing the right and proper thing as far as the cheats and criminals are concerned. All that said, the realist in me can see the mighty Gers playing in the SPL as usual next season while I stand in the rain at Harlaw Park. Ach at least they play in colours once sported by another part time team of distant memory and, by way of bonus the pies are tasty, locally sourced and reasonably priced.2 points

So, let's see.... Butcher was criticised for getting us relegated coz he played Tokely at centre-back. Tokely should also not play for ICT again as he's 4th, 5th and 6th choice as centre-back. He's too slow, too rash and cost us a number of goals. Tokely should also stay as he's a great centre-back. Proctor also must stay as he's ICT through and through, even though he only came back after failing elsewhere. Proctor is terrible and should never play for ICT again. Proctor will be a great signing for Ross County - we should never have let him go. Butcher should never have signed Golabeck as he was past his best. He should also sign Duncan after Ross County decided he wasn't good enough for SFL1, so went to Peterhead. Munro needs to getaefeck as all he does is hoof-the-ball. Munro should have never been sold. Buthcer has ripped out the heart of ICT by not keeping McBain, Golabeck, Hastings and all those others that were no longer SPL quality. Meanwhile, he can't replace them with any quality. Which is why Golobart was never player of the year, we're desperate to get rid of Tade, Gillet and Hayes and we're expecting nothing from A.Shinnie or Doran next season. David Davis. Another failure. As was Tansey, which is why Motherwell were after him. What would Stuart McCall know about potential? Hayes would be better off going to a club where it will be almost impossible to get spotted, as long as it's in England. After all, anywhere in England is better than the SPL. Meanwhile, we should try to sign Black from Hearts and get Rooney on loan from Birmingham. Even though we're desperate for any players with a hint of quality not to sign for any other SPL clubs, we will also bemoan the lack of quality in the SPL. We have no money yet should be able to sign a load of great players for free, whilst acknowledging we can't compete with other SPL clubs, both in terms of finance and location. The likes of Eagle, Stratford etc prove this, even though they cost very little and we went up first time of asking and almost achieved a top six finish. We also wasted a lot of money on Tuffey...who we should offer a new contract to. However, we should forget about that as we were almost relegated this season, finishing only a mere 14 points above Dunfermline and beating a Hibs side that spent vastly more than us. Nevetheless, we should be playing more flowing football on a budget far below the Brazil-like Aberdeen, who finished far above us on two points more. Butcher should play Ross, G.Shinnie and Sutherland more. CTO begged for G.Shinnie to be dropped after a dip in form, although he shouldn't have been dropped. Gillet should have been brought back earlier too. Although neither Shinnie or Gillet should be played out of position. So two left-backs then. Ross isn't strong enough to play regularly and should be loaned out. We should also build the team around him. Ross played 32 games this season. Ross also didn't play much this season. Sutherland should get his chance. Sutherland did and showed he isn't the answer. Why didn't Sutherland play more? We should sign more Highland players, even though we don't know any capable of playing in the SPL. We should though look to the SFL, even though Tade wasn't SPL quality, which is why St Johnstone are after him and he rejected us. But we should take a chance on SFL players to get us some goals, apart from Rory McAllister as he wasn't any good as a teenager but is a superior goalscorer to anything in the SFL 2 or 3. We should sack Butcher and get Robbo in, even though, in a vote, CTO voted for Butcher above Robbo. A more experienced manager is the answer, such as Jimmy Calderwood, Jim Jefferies or Bobby Williamson - all of whom aren't the solution. A young manager with potential should be brought in as long as he's experienced as we can't rely on untried managers. If you think Butcher deserves a chance after doing better than expected two seasons out of three, then you're a happy clapper thinking everything is rosy in the garden. If Butcher doesn't improve the club's fortunes, then he should never have been hired. Just as long as we're being consistent here.2 points

... to Dundee. The Glasgow based media are focussing on the potential of a Glasgow based newco club in the SPL. But remember, Dundee and Falkirk have already applied. Not to mention Dunfermline who may even have a case. Dundee finished 2nd in SFL1. They should be next in line to take any empty spot in the SPL. Forget the financial side for one moment. They should be next. Any new team must start at the bottom. Therefore, Dundee are the fair and natural choice and I urge the board to vote yes to Dundee. They bring a descent support as well, albet not as much as a Glasgow based newco would bring. If County replace Rangers in filling the away end, Dundee will more than make up for the relegation of Dunfermline so in theory our away crowds should be bigger this coming season than last. If on a day Caley Thistle aren't playing, I would happilly watch the Dundee derby. It would be an asset to the league and will bring some added spice. A Highland derby, Edinburgh derby and a Dundee derby sounds very attractive indeed. So lets not forget about Dundee. They should be next in line to fill in a vacant space. Yes to Dundee.1 point

Dear Sir/Madam I am writing to express my opinions on a Rangers Newco. I am of the opinion that a new version of Rangers should under no cir***stances be voted into the SPL. From an ICT perspective I feel they should not vote for a newco for the following reasons. Football is still fundamentally a sport. While there has often been a clash between commercialism and football; this is the reason the SPL scores are reported in the sports section of the news and not at the same time as the FTSE 100. To let someone (in this case a football club) off for cutting corners in order to achieve commercial gain eliminates any notion of ICT being a sports team and Scottish football being a contest. Dwaine chambers was a big name in his sport but was still banned from competing for breaking the rules. Surely allowing Rangers newco into the SPL would have an adverse effect on the reputation of Scottish Football abroad? This would make Scottish Football look low-rent which for a league with a number of International TV Deals could have a negative impact on the reputation of ICT and other clubs overseas as a result. Inverness Caledonian Thistle had to jump through a number of hoops to get into the SFL and even more to get into the SPL by sacrificing two clubs with passionate independent support and going to great expense to meet stadium criteria. Many figures at the club have worked hard over the years (the late Jock McDonald for example). Our neighbours Ross County are upgrading their stadium as we speak to play in the SPL. Why should a newco automatically enjoy the privileges of SPL membership others have had to go to great expense to achieve? Inverness Caledonian Thistle have always tried to live within their means and remain debt free. It could be argued that trying to do things the right way has meant the club has struggled to compete with teams who spend more and are in debt as a result. ICT voting Rangers newco back into the SPL would mean the club are being hypocritical and devaluing their own good ethics. Why should the club go through the annual frustration of not being able to hold on to their top players when other teams that have effectively cheated can keep theirs and achieve higher league positions and cup runs? The television deal with SKY is often used as an excuse to ensure Rangers stay in the SPL. In my opinion Scottish Football should not rely on television money as TV is a fickle industry. It’s possible that if TV ratings for the SPL or football in general decreased SKY could pull the plug regardless of the presence of the Old Firm? British Professional Wrestling has never fully recovered from being pulled from ITV by Greg Dyke in the late 1980’s; this was a TV sport that famously got higher ratings than the FA Cup Final. Football clubs should ensure that they can survive without this money in the long term as one day it may not be there. I would also like to point out there has been no guarantee that SKY would pull the plug completely on the SPL TV Deal should Rangers not be in the league. I also feel that Scottish football would still appear on TV without the Old Firm. After all SKY show leagues with less appeal than ours such as the Australian Hyundai A-League and other fringe sports like Elite League Ice Hockey. Having spoken to a good friend of mine who is a Celtic Season ticket holder and a member of a Celtic supporter’s club. He has informed me that supporters clubs of many SPL teams are planning boycotts of the grounds of clubs who vote for newco. I am unsure on how accurate or widespread this is but I feel the club may suffer in terms of attendances if this were to happen. Both halves of the Old Firm have expressed interest to leave the SPL which shows a disregard for the wellbeing of other clubs in Scotland. Why should these clubs be sympathetic to them? A few years from now when Rangers are in a better position there is nothing stopping these clubs from saying the same thing again. The SPL clubs (ICT included) should try and ensure they can survive without the Old Firm regardless of how difficult this is. I would rather see ICT playing in a lower league and living within their means than see them being subsidy junkies in the SPL. Finally, making a newco Rangers begin life in the Third Division may be a once in a lifetime chance to show how difficult it is for a team to survive out with the alleged land of milk and honey that is the SPL and to ensure that things change for the better down the pyramid. For a club like ICT who have had recent stint out with the SPL and may very well find themselves in that situation again, I feel this is vital. I appreciate the opportunity to express my opinion on the matter. Yours sincerely James Proctor1 point

I think the key word in the press release is "schools". That may suggest that some of the players might not be that young or inexperienced (particularly if they have kids of school age). I can also think of one player, who's contract has not yet run out with another club who has a child of school age..... Oh please let it be true! Also, if the above post is true about Wigan loanees, I hope one of those is Golobart!1 point

If Rangers are out of the SPL, that means they have no voting rights in the SPL. SO if sky do want to renegotiate the deal and say offer half of the £80m, then Celtic have no leverage without there horrible twin. Therefore then money could theoretically be split completely equally making every club bar Celtic much much better off! At the moment of the £80m TV deals bring in, the old firm get 85% of that, which is £68m over 4 years between the 2 clubs. Meaning the other 10 clubs get £12m over 4 years between them, which is £300,000 per season. Absolutley outrageous..... £40 million split evenly over 12 clubs over 4 years equates to just over £800,000 per club per season. Now obviously this is just theoretical, but its possible the clubs could be much better off by getting Rangers out of the league and voting fairly and not completely in the interest of the Old Firm. By having that financial fairness it would make a much more competitive league and more importantly a league with improved quality. When that happens the TV money goes up and we could seriously entertain the idea of a good quality 16 team league. Crowds would be improved, lots of derbies, the national team should improve. Its win win for me but the clubs have to have the foresight and most importantly the balls to say NO, Enoughs enough, and get Rangers out. The funny thing is that when Rangers eventually get back to the SPL all those changes would benefit them, they'll still have huge crowds bringing in more money but at the same time actually getting pushed by teams week in week out which will in turn help them progress in Europe, rather than the mindless procession to the title each season along with Celtic. This has to happen for the sake of the game in this country.1 point

I think the answer was a pretty clear 'No' when this question was articulated on your recent thread. I will start by stating that, on balance, I am of the opinion that Rangers should probably not be re-admitted directly. This said, I am also very clear as to the immediate and future impacts of this situation. I find it very hard to take a positive view on many of the comments posted which appear to almost take delight out of the situation. The number of supporters who seem to be pleased to boast as to how they are going to punish the Club (though non-renewal of season tickets, etc) as their mechanism to make comment on the actions of others does nothing to ameliorate the sense that there is a complete lack of realisation as to the likely impact of the situation. As things stand, recruitment of players will already be impacted as many players will be unwilling to sign for the club not knowing whether there will be fixtures against Rangers nor indeed knowing the likely impact of budget reductions due to reduced income. As a club, we are already losing amounts on an annual basis and the positive benefit of potentially two sell out fixtures against Ross County has the potential to be offset by events, and to be clear for those already asking why we didn't offer Tokely 'the earth' to stay, the sums in question have the potential to equate to the equivalent to five or six first team players to be cut from the playing budget. To go back to your original point, how many people will be willing to have an increase of say 25% on the cost of entry to a game to avoid the potential for financial spreading to ICT? The answer would appear to be very few (though I suppose we could always take the Ed Balls approach of trying to increase our expenditure as a means of reducing a budget deficit)!1 point

As much as I agree with much of what has been said on here and share many of the same feelings on the subject, I find myself coming back to the question I asked before. Are fans willing to step up to the plate and plug the (potential) financial shortfall that comes with the loss of the "Rangers" related income (notably the League Sponsorship and TV Money). The hows and whys of how we got here are, when push comes to shove, irrelevant. We can continue wasting our time arguing about how Chairman should or should not vote (a vote that's not even on the table yet and may never get there)....or we can start thinking and preparing for worst case scenario. Whether we like it or not the worst case scenario, financially, is no Rangers related club in the SPL. If we, the fans, get what we want in that regard.....then what next? Where does the money come from to put a team on the park? Where does the money come from to honour existing contracts? Who pays the bills, who pays the wages of the off-field staff? Just to be clear, I am not making an argument for accepting a Rangers NewCo into the SPL here. What I am asking is that will fans be as passionate about fighting for the survival of the club if such a move doesn't transpire as they have been about giving their opinions on what should happen? If not, then the game's a bust regardless of what happens and we may as well all pack up now, wind up ICT and save ourselves the grief of even trying to make it work.1 point

http://saintinasia.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/saints-without-rangers-a-question-of/ Stole this from P&B but feel it is worth a read. This is done by a St Johnstone fan estimating how much they would lose without Rangers in the league and I think it makes a lot of sense. Applying the same calculations shown in this link I ended up with a loss of £383,075 for ICT compared to last year if we lost our two Rangers home games and 33% of the SKY deal. Note this does not account for raised policing costs or food sales etc at said Rangers games. Only tickets are accounted for. Nor does it include any money raised from increased attendances when we play County at home.1 point

It would be asinine to allow them into the SPL without being demoted. To do so would be to flaunt the rules that should be sacrosanct until they are changed only by due process (within the rules of course). To flaunt the rules would render them toothless and meaningless. Which means that referees' decisions would also be open to contempt and a refusal by the players to obey him could also be instigated at will on the grounds that the rules no longer exist because his decisions are made within the framework of , and at the direction of, the SFA who have put these rules in place. And what rule could censure all the clubs at once if they refused to play Rangers F C right from the start of the season. Chaos would result. And what rule could force clubs to pay a fine levied by the SFA if they ALL refused to co-operate and said over and over again said that the rules no longer existed .They could make the lives of these SFA officials a complete misery and a complete nightmare To even think of allowing such a precedent to be set just to favour a club who more times than not always seem to get more than their fair share of decisions on the park going their way (against the rules of course) would be to pen up a very dangerous can of worms indeed. It would lower the moral compass po0f the SPL, the SFA, of the clubs who voted for it and of Scottish Football in general would be in tatters and the laughing stock of all football as complete, irresponsible, games-playing idiots. Besides, The Pimple wants to see an SPL without Rangers just to prove that we can all get along just fine without them.1 point

The SPL chairmen are the SPL though. It's got to be a no to a NewCo being admitted straight back into the SPL. Echoing what most folk have said on here, it is morally the right thing to do. I'm not sure why the businessmen who run the SPL clubs have a business model that relies on any one team being in existence anyway! This vote should be a no brainer. I'll never forget how hard the SPL clubs made us fight to get into the SPL initially, even though we had earned the right on merit. Same for Falkirk before us except they were treated even more poorly. We had to pay Aberdeen £35k (an absolute fortune for a small club) per game to play at Pittodrie and fans had to make a 6 hour round trip every fortnight for 6 months to just to watch a "home" match. They made us jump through those hoops because they didn't want us, because we're "too far away" and we supposedly wouldn't make the SPL enough money. The "Self Preservation League" some called it. Voting yes to allowing NewCo Rangers into the SPL might seem like self preservation to some chairmen but I believe it will have the opposite effect. Some fans will stay away and we'll be the laughing stock of the footballing world, as if things weren't bad enough already. FFS we invented the game!! I hope the chairman does the right thing and votes no.1 point

I've read Kenny Cameron's statement on the club website, and I suppose as one might expect it is very non committal at this stage. However, rather than EMail him and find that my Email ends up in his Spam folder, I have today written to him and posted it first class to let him know how I feel about things, strongly advising him that for the integrity of Scottish football, he should vote 'No' to the 'Newco' being admitted directly to the SPL.1 point

[email protected] Hello, I am writing to let the supporters trust know that myself and my family are currently holding off regarding our season ticket renewals until we see which way the club votes on the admission of a NewCo directly into the SPL. In our opinion this should not be countenanced, as it is an insult to every club which has acted in a responsible and sporting fashion. Furthermore, the attitude of the Rangers support regarding the boycotting of clubs who speak out against them cannot be condoned, and might well mean there is little financial benefit to having them in the SPL. Regrettably we may be forced to consider ending our support of the club if they do not act for the good of the game.1 point

No - this is the time to restructure the WHOLE of Scottish Football from the SPL & lower leagues to the regional league set up and the National Structure. Won't happen though.1 point

I'm actually in the process of doing a bit of an analysis of the SPL Rules and Articles in relation to the feasibility of a NewCo being allowed in to the SPL so it's right in front of me...... Rule A2.7 reads: "The Board may in its absolute discretion waive, relax or grant a period of grace in respect of any Club's or Candidate Club’s requirement to comply with any part of the Membership Criteria and/or Rules A2.6 and H6.1." This basically gives them power to set aside any rules they so desire (including deadlines). However, as I have pointed out in the paper I am writing.... "In summary of the Membership Criteria, more rules would have to be waived (or periods of grace given) than enforced. If this was allowed to happen then it makes a total mockery of the Membership Criteria and, as already stated, creates a very dangerous precendent....not to mention the potential for endless appeal under the following rule. A2.9 The implementation of the Membership Criteria shall be capable of appeal in accordance with the provisions of Section G of the Rules." What's more, I do not think it would (should) get as far as having to look at membership criteria. Rule A2.1 Reads.... "The League shall consist of 12 leading association football clubs in Scotland. The association football clubs eligible to participate in the League in any Season shall, subject to the Articles of Association and Rules, be those Clubs which participated in the League in the immediately preceding Season, except that, subject to Rules A2.2, A2.3 and A2.4, the Club finishing in last place in the League in the immediately preceding Season shall not be eligible to participate in the League and shall be relegated to the SFL and the Candidate Club shall be promoted from the SFL and admitted entry to the League." At it’s most basic level, no NewCo has any basis on which to make reasonable or justified argument that they are one of the 12 leading association football clubs in Scotland....they quite simply have no history/record on which to base such a claim. It is my opinion that on that basis alone then no consideration should be given to even contemplating acceptance of an application from a NewCo and removes the need for getting caught up in any rules over Membership Criteria, Share Transfers, Sanctions or any other sideshow anyone may wish to throw up. I would also like to point out that I am not doing this analysis or providing this information with the purpose of beating the club (or Chairman) over the head with it. It's just my way of getting all the points buzzing around in my head into one logically defined place which helps when it comes to discussing these things with people (including the club). I am no lawyer or legal expert but I do have a lot of experience with analysis work, especially within the strictly regulated area of financial services and it's those practices and thought processes I am applying to this. When push comes to shove, it is nothing more than my personal thoughts and opinions.1 point

I would think there would also be a lot of SFL teams very unhappy about a Rangers Newco going straight in to the SPL. They currently get no benefit from Rangers being in the SPL but with Rangers not being admitted there is a better chance for them to get into the SPL until Rangers rise through the ranks and reassert themselves in the top flight. It will be very much to their financial advantage for Rangers to join at the bottom of the SFL. I also am sceptical about the warnings of financial problems for others in a SPL without Rangers. Surely this greatly increases the chance of others to win a European place and that can only add interest to the Scottish game. It has been boringly predictible for years. Now there is a chance for someone else to come 2nd and that might encourage better players to sign for the also rans of the SPL and the SPL to become more competetive as a result.1 point

Tade and Hayes contributed more than twenty goals in terms of goals and assists and we are losing both of them to competing SPL teams. We are relying on our manager to bring in players who can replace them and Butcher hasn't done as well as you'd like in the past few windows. One blessing could be that we have players who hardly played last season who could step up and be excellent for us in Doran and Shinnie.1 point
