  1. I thought our fans knew Terry a bit better than to seriously think he might be for the off....to Barnsley!!! He's got more about him than to walk out on a job half done, especially when we're on the verge of something special....and I believe that, regardless of the potential increase in salary. How does he move on to his next job and get the club, fans and players believing in his ethos of togetherness and achieving success as a team if he turns his back on that at ICT? He doesn't...and again I don't believe he would even consider it. Inevitable that he's going to attract interest and the club giving permission to speak means little, IMO. Terry is not the kind of person to ask the club to refuse permission on his behalf, he'll talk for himself every time. We're just going through the motions, and possibly not for the only time this month. Take a deep breath....and relax!!!!!

  2. I fear he is going to go, will be pleasantly surprised if he stays. As for possible replacements, here are some that I strongly do not want: Jimmy Calderwood - vastly overrated John Robertson - Great manager first time around but I don't think he would be the answer again Barry Wilson - not ready yet but could be further down the line Maurice Malpas - he's not a number 1 Anyway hopefully Tel will stay and we can draw breath until the next club comes calling for him.

  4. Best thing that ever happened. 1) TB gets a nice extension to his contract... 2) Players see a commitment from the gaffer and agree new contracts... 3) European adventures become the norm...

  5. If you look at our results and performances over the last 2 years starting from Christmas 2010, we were actually pretty garbage for all of it except the last 3 months, which have been incredible. The rest of it was relegation form and a type of football that drove our fans away in unprecedented numbers. So : 1) You can see why Terry would be tempted to cash in whilst his stock is high and before the bubble (possibly) bursts 2) Maybe he wouldn't be such a big loss after all. The reason we are doing so well now is because of the players Marsella has found for us, not because of any tactical genius at the helm. Just trying to soften the blow!

  6. His record certainly seems to say money is a factor. I don't understand it myself, when he's not short of a bob. Also, he came to us because no-one wanted him. He'd had a pretty poor spell and Brentford and Sydney (neither of which he got time to change the club to his style). We took a chance and it paid off but don't tell me he was fending them off with the brown end of a stick. He's been good for us. We've been good for him. It's cash or glory. Nothing else.

  7. He will talk to Barnsley. Why shouldn't he? If anyone on here was offered a potentially better/alternative job, you would be stupid to reject it without seeing whats on offer. But if what their fans are saying on their site, (they are selling their good players, there is no money for new players, the board have no ambition, the fans wouldn't be behind him), if all that is true, why leave the comfort and reasonable security of ICT. "Caley away with Terry and Mo" :ictscarf: for a while longer I think!

The terracing opposite the stand. The Caley Inn. The orange away strip. McCall the paint pot kicker. Ice Station Broadwood.

  12. If Terry goes I wonder what Steve Marsella would be like as a manager. Obviously the skill set to manage people is a totally different one to that of a scout, but he clearly has an exceptional eye for talent and appreciates the game. Again it's another wildcard however.

  13. Right having read some of the possible replacements being mentioned on here no way can we allow Terry to leave. The board need to kidnap him, bribe him anything to save us from the fate that could await us if he goes!!

  14. No way has he done as much as he could do at ICT the job is only half done and i really think we could get somewhere this season, he still has a huge challenge ahead of him second half of the season and i personally cant see why he would wont to turn away from it.Especially after he was saying he wants to keep all his star players in january as they still have a cup semi final to play in and are on great league form.Surely he wants to be part of it as well. Suppose football comes down to the £££ these days.

  15. He could, potentially take us to 2 cup finals and Europe, so he' s taken us nowhere near to how far he could. plenty of unfinished business here, and I think it.'ll take a far bigger club than Barnsley to tempt him from an area he clearly loves.

  16. Larger fan base and higher salary, yes, although they have one of the lowest average attendances in their league at sub 10k More potential, not at all. They are in the highest league they will ever be in in the forseable future. They have already been turned down becasue the board lacks ambition. Almost every club in their league and many below are larger than them in terms of fan base. They will never qualify for Europe or be in the chase for a major honour anytime soon. There is far more potential at ICT. may be so , but they are still in THE CHAMPIONSHIP. all spl players( victor wanyama apart) and managers( possibly lennon apart) dream of playing/ managing in that league because the premiership is beyond them. the championship is the promised land now for many. (did'nt murphy from motherwell, who is one of this years top spl players,go to a league one team sheffield utd last week, not good enough for the championship ?) tel would be a fool not to go if offered the job. this year with our good form our players and management team have put themselves in the shop window. if terry stays here and our team breaks up whether in the january window or summer window , he will then be back to scouring the lower english leagues for players, trying to persuade them to join a club with the lowest budget in the spl, a league that most in england dont rate. previous players like tansey, cox, gillet etc could not get back to england quick enough. just heard although some on here may have heard already that andrew shinnie is in pre contract talks with aberdeen. starting the break up of our best ever team.???? can tel be bothered starting over again in the summer, when jones, draper, raven who have raised their profile here, start getting offers from down south. as alan preston said on tonights bbc news " butcher has probably taken inverness as far as he could have taken them" time for another challenge ?

  18. I won't bore people with this to-ing and fro-ing but my point was he had 6 months in the job. Not enough time to recruit his own players and get a club playing the way he wanted. Same as Brentford. He wasn't great at Motherwell or ICT straight away but they stuck with him and gained the rewards. I think I've made a fair point regarding time in job. Whether he changed style or didn't like the country is irrelevant. Give him time and he comes good. Will he get that at Bansley or Doncaster? Mad to leave, if he does.

  19. That's simply not true. Sydney had won both the A League Championship the season before under a possession-based attacking style enforced by their then manager Pierre Littbarski. Butcher came in, in his first press conference declared that Sydney would be the "grinders of Australian football" and well...punted Sydney's passing style in favour of the more traditional English hit and hope, a style Australian football had been attempting to rid itself off for a number of years. Butcher represented the exact opposite of what had been wrong with Australian football for the previous few decades. He also didn't exactly endear himself to the fans or the media at all. Saying he wasn't given enough time, without looking the facts of his time there, is incorrect. And how long did he get? A few months with another manager's players is not enough time. He was doing badly with ICT 6 months into his reign. If we had punted him then, we would have never had what we've got now. It doesn't matter what style a manager chooses. That's up to the directors to figure out before they hire him. I beg to differ big time with that statement. Butcher walked into a team who were doing badly. At the start of his reign at ICT he finished our relegation season with six losses from 17 games. The damage was done by the 18 losses out of 28 games prior to him joining. The first three months of the following season seen us play 18 games (including cup) and lose 4. To me he had a very good start to his first six months. Sadly most folk only remember that he was in charge when we were relegated.

  22. Terry was down in Weegie land the other day and bumped into Neil Doncaster. In the conversation, over a glass of wine at the Counting House, Terry mentioned that he had aquired a bit of land near Drumnadrochit but wasn't sure what to do with it. Neil say's 'why dont you put up a barn, slay some deer and hang them in it. A Daily Ranger reporter was sitting at the next table and the rest is on the news.

  23. It boils down to cash or glory, As a manager this must be his best job ever, still in 2 cups, 2nd in the league and one eye on playing in Europe next season. He will get more pay but he can wave goodbye to any of the above. I would like to see him here till end of 2014.

  26. I would think managing ICTFC must be one of the easiest management jobs in football. The staff at the club are great and there's no pressure at all, except from avoiding relegation. Anything else is seen as a bonus. I really hope he stays. He's my favourite ICTFC manager.

  32. Why do people think I'm critisising the team? I'm criticising the bloody fans! Heres a rundown of last minute goals for and against us this season... i know this should be on another thread St Mirren 2-2 Inverness CT D.McGregor Goal 90+2' -2 points Hearts 2-2 Inverness CT 90+4' Goal C.Pepper +1 point Inverness CT 1-1 St Johnstone 90+2' Goal D.Robertson -2 points Inverness CT 1-1 Hearts 90' Penalty Goal M.Zaliukas (pen) -2 Points Dundee Utd 4-4 Inverness CT J.Daly (pen) Penalty Goal 90+3' -2 Points 4 points dropped at home through poor tactics and tired legs, 8 points overall, both are problems that should've been fixed. There's other games where we have won points and lost them in the final 10 minutes of matches but you can excuse that. Looking on the BBC, we've been in front in 8 of our 11 home games (Motherwell, Celtic and St Mirren) and only won 4 of them, do you think maybe the 11 men behind the ball to hang on tactic doesn't work?

  36. Firstly we will allocate a singing section, although there is a strict order in which we must sell the tickets, so please try to book as early as possible if you want to be within the singing area. We have been invited pre match to http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/four-in-hand-edinburgh which is owned by an ex Hibs player and a busy Hibs pub. They can accommodate around 200 people and we will have this venue exclusively to us (not a chance of there being any Hearts fans there lol). Pies and sandwiches will be provided from 12.30. Anyone planning travelling by ICT Travel Club, can you please phone Liz to book on 07951 309504 as I would hope we will be taking a few buses and these will need to be planned out sooner rather than later. If there was enough interest we could have one bus leaving much earlier, maybe 8.30 - 9am, heading straight to the above pub for pre match build up. We have been allocated the Famous Five Stand, so let's make sure we fill it - I would be really surprised if we don't sell our allocation.

  37. I can't see any sense in Terry wanting to go to pastures new. Sure he might be offered more money at the likes of Barnsley but would he end up with more and is that really what he wants in any case? If he wants to stay, I am pretty sure his future is secure here for some time to come, during which time he will be on a good wage. He may be able to earn more elsewhere but that could be pretty short term and unless he produced positive improvements, he could soon find himself out of a job again and unable to command the same sort of salary in another post. In any case, at his age and with his background and other interests he should be financially very secure by now. My feeling is that the money isn't actually that important to him as long as he has enough to live comfortably (which he has). He likes to be in the limelight and I am sure he would love to win a national trophy and manage a team in Europe. He won't get that at Barnsley, or Wolves or any other Championship side but he may well get that at Inverness. And being associated with a team that is challenging for those honours (albeit in a far less competitive league than in England) he maintains a higher profile for his wider interests. If he achieves success here, then he will be in the shop window for a seriously bigger club and I wouldn't blame him then for moving on and trying his hand at the top level before he retires. But to move to a championship side at his time of life just makes no sense. If he wants to win something then he needs to stay here.

  39. Likewise, spent a day getting pissed at Headingley v West Indies. Test cricket is incredibly dull and slow, but the old Western Terrace banter was good. One very memorable moment : sitting next to me was a buxom and not-unattractive young lady, never met her before, but she turns and says "Do you think I should do a streak? I've always wanted to." It was inevitable that if she did it she'd be caught and arrested. So I gave the same advice any sensible man would and said "Course you bloody should, you'll never get a better chance! Here, let me help...." And off she went, starkers, and got half way to the wicket before being rugby tackled by a steward. I'd like to say I ended up marrying her, but alas I never saw her again, and she never even came back for her knickers.
