  1. I think football has created a problem that it will likely never rid itself of due to segregation. In any other sport you can go along to the game, mingle with opposition fans before, during & after without any real hassle (always get the odd incident, but segregation doesn't stop that anyway). For years football fans have been told "we can't put you together because you're all animals and can't be trusted". As a result people have started to conform to that assessment and even the hint that there's an opposition fan in the "home end" (or vice versa) sends them over the edge....probably doing more to create a problem than if they just ignored it and concentrated on cheering their own team along. Wearing a football shirt and waving a scarf isn't a criminal offence and isn't something that should be deemed offensive...so what does it matter where they/we/anyone does it? If they are causing REAL aggro, then they should be treated the exact same as any home fan in the home end should be treated if they do the same. Is it not better to show a bit of the Highland Hospitality that we're famous for by taking a "live and let live" approach? Demonstrate to the authorities who put these ridiculous rules in place that football fans are perfectly capable of getting along....just like the fans of every other sport? Even better still...use it as an excuse to get up and make more noise to try and drown them out. Imagine the atmosphere we could generate at games if fans did that instead of sitting there getting all offended over nothing!!!
  2. Apparently stopped doing 90mph through Dingwall. When the police asked him what he was playing at he replied that he was desperate for 3 points.
  3. It was good last week at Fir Park. While we were seated separately, the catering and facilities were open to both sets of fans. I enjoyed the banter with the Motherwell fans.
  4. I hope the humble pie I am eating at the moment is big enough to last me to the end of the season. Yesterday's performance was as good as I've seen for a long time. Solid, effective and at times very pleasing on the eye. The fact that 4 different M.O.M's have been given in different quaters of the media shows it was impressive all round. Mmm I'm hungry for more!!
  5. ...and if we're winning when you're not there....don't be heading to TCS either
  6. caleydawson, don't be heading to Kilmarnock next weekend - it's a home match for us!
  7. I follow the West Ham chairman, am i joining west ham? I'm following Cheryl Cole on twitter...I have a meeting with her tonight. I'm just following Cheryl Cole What's twitter BTW?
  8. "Weakened Celtic side" according to the BBC news moments ago - get away, give us the credit that we are due.
  9. Smashing result for us today. Celtic reserves or not I don't care. We've played their supposed B sides before and been well and truly smashed and I was expecting more of the same today truth be told. These games are freebies really and you don't expect to get much from them but in the end I thought we were well worth the three points today. Our defence coped well with Celtic's attacks and when they did get through Brill was able to keep them at bay with some smart saves from Ambrose, Griffiths and also the help of the bar. Our midfield two of Tansey and Draper dominated midfield the latter spending most of the game bench pressing the Celtic players into submission. Williams again had a very good game on the left, Christie was a bit quiet compared to recent weeks but Watkins turned in a stunning display and Mckay worked his damnedest but ultimately got no personal reward however his pressure inadvertently let to the goal. I didn't think we played as we did against Motherwell last week for the entire 90 minutes today but that was probably going to be a tall order. To begin with we continued to pass, move and receive well continuing the good work from Fir Park. As the first half wore on Celtic came into things a lot more and we seemed to pass and, erm, stand still. Players weren't offering themselves for the ball as they had been doing and this seemed to coincide with the momentum of the game switching. Watkins, who had been tormenting the Celtic left flank was suddenly redundant on the right side of the pitch and couldn't get involved for a time. Ambrose coolly placed a side footed lob towards goal but Brill was alert to tip it over. Celtic then had a fantastic flowing exchange of passes that carved our defence apart and let Commons or Pukki (I think) in but fortunately they couldn't find the back of the net. Briton had that wicked shot crash off the bar after he easily spun away from his marker. It was a cracking effort but just before this we looked like we had a clear penalty turned down by Madden. We started the second half well and started to press Celtic a lot more than the latter parts of the first half. Whilst we still played some of the Hughes style short passing game we also weren't afraid to go direct when we got a chance which was pleasing. However Celtic probably had the first good chance of the half when ICT conceded possession in the Celtic half and the ball was worked to Griffiths who thumped a low drive at Brill who held on to it well. Whilst it was a routine save I was concerned it might slip through his grasp. When we took the lead it was no surprise it came down the right as Watkins had started to influence the game again down that side. His direct run led to a dangerous ball being fired across goal. Mckay and Zaluska both went for it and, I'm not quite sure what happened, but it looked liked it bounced off them both and then into the net off O'Connell who was racing back to help out. After that we started to sit much deeper and conceded possession to Celtic whilst we were content to hit on the break. Celtic struggled to break us down and we should have increased our lead after some shambolic defending from Celtic allowed the ball to drop at the feet of Christie but his placed effort curled wide of the goal. Whilst the rest of the game was largely Celtic probing trying to find a way through we had the best chance of the final few moments when Williams led a counter and crossed to find Nick Ross but, having waited for Zaluska to go down, his shot to the keepers left was at a nice height for Zaluska to desperately stick up his hand to palm it wide. A fantastic result but I do hope we are more clinical in the weeks ahead and that we also get some chances for Mckay to convert. He seems to ploughing a lone furrow right now and our attack could be doing a bit more for him i feel. The defence however looks rock solid and Raven, a player who I wouldn't mind us trying to replace if we can get someone better in, showed some fantastic touches today. Not as good as my MotM Watkins though who royally roasted a Celtic player on the touchline with a Cruyff turn. Looking forward to the visit of Killie next week.
  10. Many ICT fans were outraged at the appointment of Yogi. Trolls such as 'Top Six Next Year' and 'RIG' vented their fury. But look at us now. Are the trolls ready to repent and admit that Yogi and Caley Thistle are made to be. Posted from the Nags Heed after our 7-6 demolition of Grimsby ;)
  11. I can only ever remember Paterson being the only name in the frame! I think we pretty much had our sights set on Pele and he was going to be the one. I don't think Huntly welcomed our approach as they were hugely successful under Paterson - but he wanted to come here - and that was that! What an absolute legend that man was with ICT. The 3-1 Parkhead win (with a little help from the Sun's headline) brought us international recognition - but the way he steadily improved us through the divisions was fantastic. A lot of the success we're enjoying today is thanks largely to the foundations laid by Paterson.
  12. I could watch this all night ........what a fantastic team we have.........
  13. Just been busy and not had a chance to pull through the highlights from the SPFL YouTube Channel. Take a look on https://www.youtube.com/spfl
  14. Whats really pee!ng me of is that Dundee United have been found guilty, in the court of Adams, of blatant theft. Personally I think they should be given community service and forced to travel to Dingwall and clean the inhabitants up a bit.
  15. I heard the interview with Jim Spence where Deek was asked 3 questions and managed to say 'y'know' 16 times. This is an average of 5.33 'y'know's per question and I wonder whether Deek or any other manager will manage to beat this during the season. I will be trying to monitor this week by week but any help is welcome, y'know? Maybe a 'y'know' trophy should be put up for this and it would give the Cownty fans something to brighten up their season.
  16. Just finished watching the match on BT Sport, must admit first off i'm gutted i missed it cause of work. Our tempo was really high and we moved the ball around fantastically and it was like we stepped up 5 gears compared to the dundee match. Our players showed so much more fight than celtic and the result was deserved if anything we should have scored more. Dean Brill: Fantastic performance he may not have been needed much over the first 3 games but yesterday without him we could have conceded so many goals he would have to be my MOTM. David Raven: Raven is someone who i thought this season might struggle a wee bit, his pace was something i wondered would he be good enough for this season but i was really impressed, he made the last man challenge fantastically, could easily have been MOTM Gary Warren/Josh Meekings: Both very solid at the back as we always expect if we can keep them two together who knows how long we could go before conceding Graeme Shinnie: Did well today bombing down the wing and putting crosses in,looking forward too seeing how he develops and hopefully Strachen sees how good he is. Ross Draper: He looked really good in breaking down celtic's attack, he is the sort of player that we need to make sure plays most games he has that presence infront of the defence with how big he is yet he was able to mug off a celtic player using skill which you don't often see from him. Greg Tansey: Did well in opening up the cracks in celtic's defence with the way he was pinging the ball around the pitch. Marley Watkins: What a player we have in watkins we saw last season against c*unty what he can do and we saw it yesterday, the way he got past celtic's defence was effortless, while still being able to hit first time crosses into the box. Even with all this attacking qualities at time when needed he was back helping out in defence, could easily had been MOTM Danny Williams: Did really aswell on wing tore celtiic's RB apart with darting past him all the time, another player who i feel in the right guidance could shine this season. Ryan Christie: Ryan where do I start with him, well first it was a clear penalty the celtic boy took Ryan by the ankle. He is going to be really special this season so far this season he has been one of our best players and long may that continue. Billy McKay: Well typical Billy just making himself a problem to the defence by getting in the way and causing all sorts of problems which led to us scoring. Nick Ross/ Liam Polworth: Can't comment too much on them with them only playing around 10 minutes but Nicky had a good chance near the end of the game which he should probably had scored. Liam took the corners really well apart from that nothing much happened. Aaron Doran: Well i think he is still not starting cause he is not ft enough yet which at the end of the day, an't say right now we are missing him Overall fantastic performance from the lads deserved the win onto killie away which will be another good game for our players with them using the artificial turf.
  17. I knew it ! I DID believe !
  18. Nowhere near an "exceptional offer" for me
  19. Well, the chap with the boots got the ball closer to the car than Leigh Griffiths got to the goal. Well done to all three guys for having the guts to have a go.
  20. You can only beat what is put in front of you......and we did! Heard CBBC (Central Belt Broadcasting Corporation) waxing lyrical about Hamilton today (small club, no budget, playing good football, punching above weight etc). Maybe fair, but sounded like a description of a more northerly, table-topping team to me!
  21. I follow the West Ham chairman, am i joining west ham? I think there's a slight difference there... A 200k bid for McKay is going to get shot down faster than an Malaysian airlines flight over Ukraine.... no need to worry yet. (don't highlight that sentence if you are easily offended)
  22. RiG is probably already readying himself for a few 2 a.m. phonecalls from Northumbria.
  23. Good effort Mark.
  24. If I had another hat I would eat it
  25. Derek Adams, the only Manager in Britain who could sign a player called Klok, and not make him tick. What was your excuse today?
  26. Superb display. Our players looked comfortable and confident with the Hughes style, lot of good passing and possession. Watkins was absolutely outstanding and easily the crowd's choice for MotM. His trickery and creative opening up of the right flank was wonderful to watch, and created the goal. We could have finished two or three up, very heartening to see that we didn't try and sit on the lead, but kept taking the game to them. On this evidence we have every reason to look forward to a good season. I can't see any reason why we should fear any team in the league - rather the reverse.
  27. Really enjoyed that today and not just because we defeated Celtic more the manner of our performance - best home performance under Yogi IMO. The passing today was a joy to watch purely due to the fact is was quick and effective. I really liked at times when we caught Celtic's defence out and Watkins and Mckay got the fast break. Marley Watkins was my MOTM today - superb! Play with that intensity next Saturday vs Killie and hopefully the result will take care of itself. Interesting to note, I noticed Steve Marsella sitting with the fans in the Main stand today - Scouting?
  28. Happy clappers that said naysayers wanted ICT to fail as it was 'personal' against Yogi A great result like this and the usual suspect tried to make it 'them' and 'us'. Everyone wants ICT to win! Everyone wants Yogi to succeed! As many did with Butcher, all naysayers want to hold their hands up and say their wrong. Amazing this still needs said....
  29. Seriously, that half time challenge was farcical today. If it was from the penalty spot to the corner flag, that would be far enough, but to kick the ball off the ground and get it that far with enough height on it, is very very difficult, especially from people in flat shoes who've probably haven't kicked a football in years! You could be offering the car and no-one would win it!
  30. A great team performance and a deserved victory. I was actually quite glad we played our possession style against Celtic. We made them look quite average. Raven, Watkins and Draper had an excellent game.
  31. Fantastic result. You can only beat what's put in front of you. That doesn't apply to Celtic though, who couldn't beat what was put in front of them.
