  1. It was pretty amazing the international interest we had in the "Pay What You Can" initiative and Al Jazeera even sent a reporter to the game to do a short feature on it. Anyone make the video reel? http://www.aljazeera.com/sport/football/2015/01/what-you-can-at-football-stadium-2015121123927397657.html
  2. There is no doubt that those of us you were cynical about Yogi's ability have so far been prove wrong and I suspect each and every one of us are delighted to be so. The next big test will be close season when a major squad overhaul appears to be on the cards. How he does with his own players will be the final test. What he has earned, in my view, is a contract extention and at least two full seasons with his own players.
  3. While I was hoping that Yogi would prove me wrong when I doubted him never in my wildest dreams did I think he would prove me this wrong!!! He stuck by his footballing philosophies and they have come to fruition big time, great passing and movement and we totally played the Saints off the park, the idea that Billy couldn't play in his system has now also be totally dispelled. Full credit to Yogi and his coaching staff along with players who must have worked so hard to get used to this system.
  4. Well, that was rather easy. After an early barrage of high balls into the box from St. Johnstone, we took control and never relinquished it. Our passing in the first half was crisp and incisive, and I've never seen so many back heels at a game here! We understandably took our foot off the gas after the break - and even then we should have scored a few more. Yogi now has a selection headache - the type every manager wants, mind. He has Ryan Christie and James Vincent on the bench, plus Tansey and Raven to come back from suspension, but the starting XI last night played really well. In Tansey's absence, Danny Williams took the bull by the horns and was my man of the match; whilst he doesn't offer a Hollywood Pass like Tansey does, his movement with the ball made us play at a higher tempo that St. Johnstone couldn't live with. Nick Ross has been deservedly getting plaudits too, whilst Tremarco, not a favourite of mine normally, had a great game. His first touch remains iffy, but you could see his confidence shoot up after he set up Watkins' goal and in the second half he spent more time in their half than ours. This was a superb team performance, albeit against a St. Johnstone side missing some important players. Hopefully it impressed some of the folk who took up the Pay What You Can offer - which came on a night where, to be honest, ICT were so good that it would have justified the full admission fee.
  5. I was there for 75 minutes. Nothing much between the teams but we didn't create much tbh. Christie was playing in a very deep position and This wasn't one of poor Polworths better days. A bit of trivia for anyone old enough to remember Wilson Robertson. His son was playing number 3 for Dons.
  6. I sat with a Dunfermline fan who had come from Rafford (Nr Forres) and his mate from Inverness who'd only been to 2 games in the past, both against Celtic. They made a night of it with a curry in town and paid a tenner each. So that's +£20 for starters, and 2 very impressed spectators who said they will be back.
  7. Don't give a monkey's what the pundits say - it's good for us to fly under the radar. Let Celtic, Aberdeen and DUFC take it in turns to be the golden boys, and then we'll steal in at the last moment to take the prize! After that performance, we really must believe that there is nobody at all to fear in this league. What's really pleasing is the strength in depth: a couple of key players out - no problem! And think of those on the bench: Christie, Devine etc! Spare a thought for Liam Polworth - great potential but 2nd or 3rd in the pecking order for midfield. Same could be said of Devine. Smile and wave, boys, just smile and wave...
  8. Laid up at the moment so didn't manage to follow this game properly'. Sounds like we are a class act but I've got to get my dig in!. Why is it that when we play a team off the park the Pundits say we played against a poor side, or an off form side, or a weakened side Why don't the B****** see that we, ICT, make teams look that way because we play so much better than them and they can't cope with us. Well done the lads Back to bed now.
  9. Aye, I think they had just been relegated from the SPL but were still charging SPL prices in Div 1. I handed over a bag full of 2p coins and explained why to the guy behind the turnstile. He just asked for confirmation that it was the right amount, and let me in.
  10. Great result, and a decent crowd for a cold Tuesday night in Jan. I imagine the directors will see the 'pay what you can' experiment as being successful. Well done to them for showing initiative. But the biggest plaudits are to Yogi and the team. A clear 3rd in the SPFL is no more than we deserve. What a great 2015 it has been so far. Roll on Saturday.
  11. Time taken for ICT to notch up their last 4 wins: 20 days Time taken for Ross County to notch up their last 4 wins: 260 days
  12. That's an amazing stat! But, sadly, not quite true! In 96/97 on the way to our first promotion, we had 47 points from 22 games. Damn! But having 44 from 22 games in the top-flight is staggering.
  13. How much did you pay ? both payed 10 quid considering I don't earn enough as it is
  14. Great to have 4 wins in a row but perhaps a bit disappointed we didn't take the opportunity of exploiting our dominance by improving the goal difference a bit more. St Johnstone have a few injury problems and were unlucky with injuries during the game but the net result of that was that they were one of the poorest sides I have seen at TCS for a long time. I guess we all see the game differently but I am surprised by MOTM choices of others. Whilst I agree that it was a good team performance, the key to the victory was that their attacking options were so effectively snuffed out. Warren and particularly Meekings were dominant at the back winning crosses and making tackles and interceptions before efficiently offloading. In front of them Draper was his usual tower of strength. The stats that St J only had 2 shots at goal bear testament to that. On the creative front, Doran was the pick of the bunch. He always looked to get forward and inject some pace and movement into the game. He worked well with Tremarco and was excellent covering back when Tremarco went forward. His workrate was superb. The downside was that he didn't have his shooting boots on. Tremarco was awful for the first 25 minutes but he did brilliantly to set up the 2nd goal and thereafter was much better. I note the popular vote for Nick Ross but that view certainly wasn't shared by folk around me when the announcement was made that he was the sponsors MOTM. Again he had a very tidy game with excellent first touch and short sharp passing (including eye catching back-heels) but he rarely opts for a penetrating pass if a safer short pass is available and he also seems to lack the confidence to shoot. With Tansey and Raven out it was very encouraging to be able to bring players of the calibre of Christie and Vincent off the bench. It shows we have excellent depth in the squad. It was also good to see young Sutherland get a brief outing. He looked pretty sharp and was unlucky not to get on the end of a low cross following good work on the left by Tremarco and Doran.
  15. Just watched the highlights and we gave them a real belting! Quality football played by quality players led by a quality coach. Beautiful!
  16. Lets hope the club will give it ago on a Saturday. Maybe 21st of Feb when Kilmarnock come to town???
  17. Is that your own family then?
  18. Highest was £30 according to Ian Auld, interviewed on Sky.
  19. Would be interesting to know the average price paid tonight. Also the lowest and highest prices paid.
  20. The 44 points we have now may well already be enough to secure a top 6 place. Kilmarnock (or Dundee) would have to earn more points per game than they have done so far to exceed that by game 33. Our 44 points is also 4 times what County have got.
  21. That crowd on one of coldest spells of the year at the end of most expensive periods in terms of extra available cash and a Tuesday night was a great result . However as long as it did not cost the club money in overall projected takings for this match then the extra fans watching makes it a success
  22. Apart from the first 10 minutes we were well in control. It was 2 going on 6 nil. Only our own defenders worried Deano with back passing and Shinnie's miscue over the bar in 5 minutes. Some nice inter-changing of passes between the half way line and Saints box although over-cooked at times. Good to keep the run going and now only 3 points behind the over-rated Dons.
  23. We got 3,000 v St Johnstone the last time we played them on a Tuesday night - full fare! And 3,700 on a £20 Friday fixture! Hate to rock-the-boat but I think we should have been looking at higher than tonight's attendance! Great effort from the club - but the apathy around Inverness is apparent. Fantastic win tonight - made a very decent Perth club look decidedly ordinary!
  24. Worth a bump in my view....we had a mini collapse of form in December, but Yogi has now won 4 in a row, apparently we haven't done that since 2011, according to the BBC....can that be true? Anyway well done Yogi
  25. Fourth win in a row, Watkins comes back and scores, Billy carries on his good run, seemed like a canter for us, a reasonable crowd for a winter Tuesday night, now upto 3rd...only frustration was not being able to get the radio connection on my tablet sorted in time.
  26. We'll done Yogi and the lads. A fine start to my day!
  27. Attendance at home to the same opposition on a nice Saturday afternoon in September was 2,770. With 3,161 at the TCS tonight I'd consider Pay What You Want a success, must be at least 500 additional fans through the gate.
  28. 3161 - WELL feckin done to all those who put in an effort - that must be at least 1000 +
  29. 1 point
Entirely sensible points he has made in the P&J. 6 week month in terms of pay day, and arctic weather? He's spot on about January. Summer football is 100% the way forward.
  30. Im guessing Dawson's been watching GOAL! or Field of dreams recently
