  1. Not long home from the game and can comfirm we won 3-2 and calum did grab a couple of goals and looked hungry for a lot more as well Hope yogi bloods him in first team a lot this season cause he looks like the striker we're in dire need of I know it was against an amatuer team, but some good football was played and good to see big dunc trying to put yogi's passing game into the youth team Looks like a couple of them could go on to be future shinnie/christie's Jason Brown looks like he could be a good stand in for gaz or his natural replacement. Did well at controlling the game from the back and was very vocal at organising the team when halkirk tried to mount attacks Both halkirk goals game from set peices, deflection from a free kick and a penalty. Where as 2 of where from open play, Both calum's were headers, one from a corner and over from a cross, not sure who scored out 2nd but it did go in off the post

Well, you can't say the man hasn't got spirit.! If anyone can harness his skill, energy and aggressive attitude (the good kind), it's John H. Yep! And, regardless of the past, I have good vibes about this. Nothing like giving a person a second chance. Especially in this case since the platform offered to him for his work is great and if he fails again then his career may well be over. If successful, then Iain Vigurs could be a vigurous and positive contributor to Caley Thistle's onward progress and development. Let's wish him well and will him on.

In case anybody was in any doubt - here's the direct relationship between attendances and average wage using figs for 2013/14 season: I took Hearts out of the analysis for generating the correlation because their wages were unusually low that season for obvious reasons. Equally, Celtic fall above this calcualted line, but they have other income streams that allow them to spend more (e.g. Champs league). Given all the other factors that could be involved, it is amazing how tight this relationship is. We're right on the line and we know that the club just about breaks even at that level, so you might consider this to be the break-even line - those above it were probably spending beyond their means or using up a nest-egg, those below it were probably saving for a rainy day or uncertain of their future in the prem. I would be prepared to bet that RC and PT are now spending about the same as us, now that they have established themselves in the prem for a few years. Equally, Hearts will be in a more confident position now and will probably be nearer to Abdn in terms of wages.

Now confirmed and straight into the squad for tonight Official Site Think he'll be a good signing for us and I'm surprised that people think he won't be. He plays in a manner that fits in with our style, he's a classy passer of the ball and hits a mean set piece. I don't really care that he gave us the old cupped ears celebration when at County, nothing wrong with that at all, I quite like seeing a player respond to abuse by scoring a screamer and then celebrating infront of the opposition fans. To be fair he was probably still seething at the way Butcher had hung him out to dry.
  7. That'll be yer arse talking, then!

Personally, I am not concerned by the history between the player and the club and fans. Vigurs, when he applies himself, is a decent player and will be an asset. What does concern me is that we are using scarce 'emergency' funds to sign yet another midfielder when the emergency is that we still do not have an experienced out and out striker.

Disgraceful post. Vigurs is a talented player with an poor attitude in the past and a bit of 'history' with ICT and our fans resulting in mixed views on whether we are wise to sign him. Evans is a disgusting convicted and, worse, unrepentant rapist who no right thinking fan would want within a million miles of this or any other club.

An excellent piece of business IMO. One of the best set piece takers / passers of a football in the country. Can see him contributing plenty of goals and assists. How often do we fail to turn dominance into goals for lack of a composed 'final ball'. Vigurs could be the missing piece of the jigsaw in that respect. Also pretty excited to see how well he links up with other intelligent players like Christie and Vincent. These kind of guys tend to bring the best out of each other.
  13. Regards Adam MacLeod. Was at ICT from youngest age possible, did indeed win awards throughout youth levels. Signed when 16 but got injury at end of u17s, Believe he snapped his achillies in his first 19's or 20's game. Went to Strathspey to get fit and scoring again, but after making 4 goals in two subs in first games Strathspey though they could play him as a full back as he was better on the ball than their other defenders, still scored a few from defence, no idea how many. Following season went to Elgin, scored two on his debut, but Ross Jack didn't play him again in 18months???? Barry Wilson came in and played him, and he started scoring again. Elgin offered him a new deal, but Adam then had a job where he works every second Saturday. Working every second week he seemingly had offers from Nairn, and I believe Brora, but thought he would not get a game just appearing every second week, so he went back to Strathspey to just get a game. Broke their seasons scoring record by September, but then got injured and was out for the rest of the season. Think against Huntly was his first full game since his operation. Been told he scored a free kick Ronaldo style into the postage stamp from 25 yards. If he stays clear of injury I can see him scoring 20 for Strathspey, a bottom 3 side in the Highland league. If he does, Strathspey might not be that near the bottom. If he hadn't been injured, think he would be at the same level as Polworth.
  14. Agreed. Jennifer Lopez would be better than Dani. Vigurs did more in his first 5 minutes than the whole midfield before that point in the game. His first five touches/passes were impressive.
  15. Given the amount of injuries we have I am far more confident than I was after the Motherwell game. No further injuries and a clean sheet with a makeshift defence. One point picked up against a team who took all nine last season. We started with energy and kept the ball well. Partick had chances which were mainly down to us giving the ball away cheaply, luckily we were not punished. Williams pulled off a couple of great saves, his only weakness appears to be his kicking from pass backs. We need a striker!!!! Lopez does not 'yet' look the part, poor touch, no pace, no height - not sure why we kept him on for 90 minutes tonight. In the last 20 minutes Sutherland could have given an injection of pace up front and put pressure on the defence which may have created more chances for the team. Once we have a fully fit Doran and Roberts we will be more of a threat and hopefully see Mutombo (or a new signing) playing centre forward. I suspect we will see the same team on Saturday and keep the players coming back from injury until the following week when we play Hamilton.
  16. Five competitive games, the majority of possession in all five, one single goal. Not a single experienced forward on the books, not a single out and out striker recruited over the Summer. I know funds are tight but apparently we have emergency funds, the requirement for at least one player capable of putting the ball in the net on a regular basis is surely an emergency......
  17. Full Time 0-0 well I suppose that's a point more than we took off of them last year BBC Stats Possession Caley 55% 5 Shots 3 on target 3 corners Partick 45% 7 shots 4 on target definitely need a striker by the looks of it
  18. It would be fair to say Vigurs looked quite lively when he came on. At least he knows where the goal is and is not scared to shoot.
  19. Vigurs had been a breath of fresh air since he has come on, he has a solid passing range and is looking like a cracking player

surely references to convicted rapists should be the bigger issue???
  21. 1 point
I doubt attitude, workrate and commitment will be an issue here. At 27 if he fecks this up he'll be lucky to get a game with Strathpish Thistle or whatever they're called. Hope he repays the faith we've shown in him. Is it a straight 1 year deal or do we have the option of a 2nd year? That old chestnut. Say something offensive and then pretend you were "fishing".

I was about to say the very same thing!?!? Great minds eh!
  23. Dundee Utd have suspended their head of youth development, Stevie Campbell, who was an ICT coach before leaving with Brewster and Malky Thomson to Tannadice in 2006. It came as a surprise to me that he was still there after all these years, he's certainly done well to last so long at a club that has been through a few managerial regimes in that time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33889577

Welcome back Iain, Brave move son. Proves you don't lack the minerals! I personally think this could be a good move for both parties. Very skilful player with a few points to prove and a few doubters to convince. And a team that plays in a style that suits his undoubted ability. I would like to think that our other creative players are looking forward to his arrival? Hope he can stay injury free and then we can enjoy his contributions to our team.

Had to think about my own opinion on this a little before posting ... but in the end, I believe we should be willing to give him a (second) chance ... No need to rake over old ground, its pretty clear that most folk are aware that he 'allegedly' had a bad attitude at work, and a pretty low opinion of the customers who came to his work on a Saturday or when he encountered them outside of work ..... However, time has moved on and so should we. The photos don't bother me, he is showing passion for the club he is playing for at the time, but what would bother me is if his attitude (to club, manager or fans) is stinking this time around and I hope that the club have made it clear to all concerned. If he is a team player and does not bring disharmony to the squad then fair play, he will be judged on his talent on the pitch, and he does have plenty of that .... I look forward to seeing someone post a pic with him in the same pose but a different shirt after the first derby game !!!

I know a number of folk that disliked him purely for him moving to County and it then becomes easy to direct abuse at people. Yeah, his attitude was all over the place but he now slips into a totally different squad, different coaching team and hopefully some different minded fans if he pulls it off on the park. Certainly feels strange to have him back but I'm looking forward to it.

I'm already drawing up a code of conduct which Vigurs must follow similar to one given to Neuer from the Bayern Ultras.

Unusual for a footballer to be so good at Trivial Pursuit.
  30. Not according to Sneckboy's "Contract Situation" thread - only one year left. This is the point to extend his contract by a few years (as DUFC did for Ryan Gauld) in order to hike the pricetag. Who knows where we'll end up if we lose Christie at this moment in time! That is correct: http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/Sport/Football/Christie-signs-new-ICT-deal-15052014.htm
  31. the legendary Glasgow Caley away supporters club once again start the new (away) season with tomorrow's trip to Perth, we have a few of our foot soldiers missing but if anyone wants to meet up and travel with a good bunch of guys (and girl) please feel free to join us in the Counting House from 11am tomorrow.
  32. Agree with your logic and reasoning but can also argue the opposite point of view .... that is the conundrum .... The first five or six games can define your season so is it better to act swiftly or to wait? After 6 games if we are down the wrong end, not scoring goals and 10 points or more behind the top six it can be really hard mentally to close that gap and we might spend the rest of the season in a dogfight. Alternatively, if we get in the required pieces of the puzzle and start to win and score goals then confidence soars, morale rises and fans and players alike enjoy the ride (like last year) .... finishing a single place higher in the table than we would of without those players could wipe out the outlay in your figures above (based on £70K per place) I am all for prudence and fiscal responsibility and I know our club is well run in that respect after surviving a few scares in the early years ... but if we do indeed have a rainy day fund then perhaps its time to use at least a portion of it .....

I think Struan might have executed his plan well, plenty of biters.

Aye so would rather sign a convicted rapist to represent our club......really???? What kind of message do you think you would giving to women and young fans.
  35. There is a big part of me that really does not want to watch ICT if Vigurs and Riordan are part of it.
