  1. This announcement has been a long time coming and the delay has resulted in some understandable cynicism. However, the deal is now done and that is great news for all associated with the club. In the statement the Chairman has stated that the completion will now allow the AGM to go ahead. That too is long overdue and when that goes ahead we will be able to get a somewhat better position of the Club's state of health and strategy for the future.

Every transfer window Dundee utd have splashed the cash over paid for players and continue to pay huge wages and where are they? They are still languishing in the championship. I was shocked at Oakley 's departure but overall we still have a team that can produce the goods. Austin and Oakley seemed in the past few matches to work. Let's hope one of our new squad members can make that step up and partner Austin upfront. I hope we can push on and show the likes of Dundee utd, Falkirk etc that money doesn't buy this league a good squad playing for a good manager does.

The fact that players see moving to Accies from us as a step up is hardly a laughing matter and is a sad indictment of where we are these days.

I remember I once agreed with Dougal and Charles Bannerman in the same evening. Had to lie down for a couple of hours to recover.
  6. Here's the thing Nathan, there's no easy way to break it to you .............. Scott Kellacher is your father

Heard we rejected a last minute bud for White from the council apparently they're looking for giant immobile traffic cones!
  8. Our current team available are capable of winning Saturday. A few wins now and we establish ourselves in the play offs. No excuses go out beat partick thistle and create some breathing space between us and qos, Morton etc. Let us all hear the famous phrase - partick thistle nil

So Polly stays for the rest of the season. That's about as good a result as we could've hoped for from this transfer window.
  10. I ain’t ‘fraid of no ghost.

Slightly shocked, but he's out of Contract at the end of the season, (and the small fee probably covers the laundry bill) anyway I think McCauley can do a job for us in his place

Liam is a superb guy. Inverness born and should deserve lots more accolades than he gets.
  13. 'Come over here, I think you'd better sit down....it's about George...
  14. 2 points
He certainly deserves a great deal less abuse than he gets. Some of our 'fans' should be ashamed of themselves.

Would imagine so - if rumours are true Sow was on £5k pw & Pawlett £3k at their parent club, add in the likes or Reynolds and while its on paper a strong squad/team and they may not need to pay all that money per player they will all be on a lot more than most clubs in the division are paying anyone. As we have seen over the years plans and spending like this are only sustained for as long as the investor is interested or has funds - otherwise its just a short term gamble that's a step away from administration!!!

A loss but also an opportunity for our two young home grown strikers to make more of an impression. Disappointing but not a disaster.

It’s a quiet day in Thurso everyday.
  18. A fine result last night against high flying Ayr United. However, the week's work is only half done. That victory will count for much less if we can't repeat it on Saturday against low lying Patrick Thistle. There is no room for complacency, Patrick are battling to avoid successive relegations but, with the right attitude and loud vocal backing we can retain our promotion chasing momentum.
  19. Lets hope we will all be going to the game tomorrow and cheering the team on for a home win regardless of our thoughts about what has happened this week!
  20. I’m surprised you aren’t pushing for a deal with a certain bread brand!
  21. More likely 'old Inverness ' ?
  22. Wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to get a sponsorship deal from my favourite whisky and name the stadium Highland Park!
  23. CTO Preview now online........... You're all in it!
  24. But it is our dump now
  25. Nah they already have one roaster doing that, having said that maybe he’s back running around a track like a headless chicken so there could be an opening after all Dougal

Plastic pitches have no place on our top league and maybe should be banned in championship too so I totally ageee with you.
  27. 1 point
Decent player, very patchy injury record...I don't care if the stats say otherwise but the plastic at NDP will not do him any favours in that respect.
  28. 1 point
I fear he will be overwhelmed by the Premiership atmosphere and massive crowds at New Douglas Park.
  29. Like Dundee Utd, Falkirk have also brought a lot in and it looks as though they may have splashed a bit of cash in doing so. Both clubs are also off-loading a lot of players (mostly on loan in Utd's case). Football is a team game and what good managers do is to get the best out of players in the context of their contribution to the team. Rather than showing ambition in the transfer window, it strikes me that Dundee Utd and Falkirk are showing a bit of desperation. If they can meld their new recruits into an effective tight knit unit then it rather begs the question of why they couldn't do it with the players they had previously brought to their respective clubs. More need for better managers than complete new teams in my view. Bringing in 5 or 6 like County and Queens have done maybe shows a bit of genuine ambition. It allows for some targeted strengthening of the first choice XI whilst giving a bit more depth to the squad. Ayr and Dunfermline have both brought in 1 new on a permanent contract and 2 on loan and therefore are much on a par with us in their dealings. On balance, I think our dealings in January have been positive, Time will tell how successful the different strategies will be.
  30. Now that we have retained the services of one Liam Polworth, I am quote relieved. Had we lost him and Oakley I think this may have caused us a real issue. I make no apology for groaning at a slack pass by Mr Polworth as I do for any other player but perhaps those who have been singling him out for an endless torrent of abuse could now see we need to cut the players some slack - and I include White and Austin in there too. Historically, the 12th man (or woman/ gender neutral etc) has made a difference to any club so might be n idea if we use our powers for good. Starting tomorrow versus The Jags (the other ones).

Must confess, I thought George had improved this season and was coming on to a game/ pairing. But from his point of view, he wants to play at a "higher level" and I get that and also the need to realise some cash as his contract up at the end of the season. But an undisclosed fee suggests we get a fiver and a bag of washers for him and with the window well and truly shut we are thin up top if anyone sustains an injury IMHO. Young Daniel showed some promise but seems to have been somewhat overwhelmed the last couple of times he has come on, suggesting that whilst he has the ability, there is a question over maturity? However, we perhaps need to take the view that if you are good enough, you are old enough and crack on - just without the comparisons to Beckham, Scholes etc maybe.... Any way up, he's off all the best and all that guff but let's get behind what we have and see if we can't be there come the play offs? Three important ones - Partick the morn, Gadgies and then an away day at The Pars and 3 wins would be lovely thank you.
  32. Personally I feared that we would be in a relegation scrap this season and would have accepted a safety position at the off. I have to concede that the Oakley transfer is an odd one but we have added McCauley and McDonald and we have three "big" players to return and I still hope that McGregor and Danny McKay can make an impact.

Was interesting to read bdu98196 thoughts on stats and do appreciate that goals may or not be critical in gaining points. So had a look at 3 strikers goals that we have gained points from, otherwise if they hadn’t scored in the game we would be these points worse off in the league. White 8 points Oakley 4 points Austin 3 points
  34. We are in a play off spot and, with a bit of rub of the green, are perfectly capable of remaining there with the players we have. Dundee United have eleven new recruits to bed in and find their feet at the club. Our squad might be small but it is settled and tight knit.

Correct no assists stats . George obviously saw his future elsewhere , was just pointing out that the two strikers left have more goals in them than Oakley. So it’s not all doom and gloom .
  36. 1 point
Yet more stats *yay* What is more telling is the importance of goals and how many points they have won - a player may only score 5 goals but each may the solitary strike per game resulting in 3 points where as another may score 10 but 3 of those were hat-tricks. Just trying to emphaise while your stats are interesting they are like any statistic only aimed to present a certain perspective based on the desired outcome of the creator and are therefore not always the only benchmark - there are no figures for assists which are an aspect of Oakleys game given he and Austin played as a partnership.

... and Dunfermline have got Bruce Anderson from Aberdeen ... losing George smacks of small short-term monetary gain and next to no genuine aspiration to leave the Championship.
  38. Maybe he can blow you a pageboy?

I've not been to many games this season but from what I saw last season I didn't think Oakley was that good a striker. He certainly wasn't the sort of striker who would fire you to the title in this league. He was also out of contract at the end of the season and if we thought he wasn't going to re-sign and isn't a starter then cashing in, even if it'll be pennies in the scheme of things, could be the right thing to do. He was a good contributor though and it leaves us with two senior strikers, one of whom is really injury prone. I'm cynical about the youth players - every post-match interview it seems we've got coaching staff talking about how good our youth players are but we never play any of them and have now signed a Hearts youth player who has gone straight into the first team.

Gosh Dougal we actually agree on something ?
  41. 1 point
The great Jock Stein once said “Football is nothing without fans” I fully understand you endorse the franchised model when it comes to football clubs but he was right without fans the game will die Dougal

Maybe all those moaning about it could just record it on the Friday night, then sit down at 3pm Sat to watch it and to make them feel better send the £22 that they haven't spent to the club as they are worried that it will suffer. The clubs have all agreed to this including ICT - lets not forget that.
  43. 1 point
We have some amount of moaners in our diminishing fan base ?
  44. Gives us an edge in the play offs ?
  45. 1 point
An inconvenience but more exposure and more money for the Championship in general and ICT in particular is Probably, on balance, to be welcomed.
  46. Bad error from McCart but he's been pretty solid for us this season regardless of where he was been asked to play in defence. Would like to see him and Donaldson feature as our regular CB pairing.
  47. Ian McCall, a bad loser, surely not. I hope there were no open paint tins about !
  48. 1 point
I hope after reading and hearing what the man went through with his illness people get off his back. He genuinely wants to help our team do well and he's if nothing else not short on effort as well as being our current top scorer this season. Let's for once try and get behind all our players at the business end of the season, we still have a great chance of the playoffs and his goals are going to be crucial.
  49. 1 point
Probably the best post of the year so far. Well said. Leaving aside his medical difficulties the boo boys seem to neglect the fact that he is our top scorer into double figures with almost half the league season to go. If he is reading this thread, he should appreciate that 98% of ICT fans are fully behind him and the small but vocal minority who are not are never happy unless they are moaning about something or somebody.
