  1. I'd love to know how many goals we've gifted the opposition this season through defensive errors. Fact is we were dire in the first half and lost the game there. And let's not kid ourselves, yes, we rallied in the second half but it could've easily ended up 4-1 to them if they hadn't missed 2 absolute sitters at the end. Team selection was bizarre, and I'm finding it hard to believe Hughes knows what he's doing. A Falkirk supporting mate of mine said at the time of Yogi's appointment that we'd have a fantastic first season with him, then it'll all unravel dramatically. Sadly, I think he's being proved right.

  2. My flabber has never been so gasted. Utterly distraught at that team selection and schoolboy errors. We are the worst team in the premiership at the moment and relegation is staring us in the face.

  3. Can't blame the manager for 2 unforced defensive howlers. Everyone was calling for a more direct approach and Yogi delivered. On another night one of the 50 or so balls we put into their box would've fallen for us. Just not our season. Time to focus on top 6.

  4. Awful team selection. Its no coincidince we were much improved after we made the substitutions. Why Hughes started up front and Storey was on the bench is ridiculous. What did Hughes do against Hamilton that merits another start tonight. Horner offered nothing in midfield as did Wedderburn. How did these guys start when Roberts, Williams and Polworth were sitting on the bench. If John Hughes doesnt come out tonight or tomorrow and admit he picked the wrong team i will be amazed.

  5. Combination of both lackadaisical defending and poor team selection cost us the game tonight. Why on earth was Josh Meekings playing at right back when him and Warren are the best central pairing? I also don't understand Hughes' obsession to stick Miles Storey out in the wings, when the boy is an out and out striker.

  6. And if i remember rightly we were 2-0 down in that one and rallied to get back in but left it to late again in what was another abject performance

  8. Out of Europe rather tamely at the first hurdle. Knocked out of both cups by lower league opposition. Getting embroiled in a relegation struggle with no form and no real strikers. If I had a single-use time machine, it would be a toss-up between assassinating Hitler and going back to July so we could just restart this damn season.

  10. Both the team and their fans should be well up for this. Their season has gone a bit pear-shaped and this is a huge opportunity for them to turn it around. We need to be on top of our game tonight!

  11. I can understand that criticism, however, if a couple results had gone in our favour and we were sitting say 4th, would the same people still be calling for a change as they are bored of what they are watching? There's only so much that can be done with such a threadbare squad and a tiny budget.

  12. I find it sad that some are talking about a new manager, a manager that guided us to our first major trophy and Europe and that to be honest isn't having a horrible season this year.... 2 cup quarter finals reached and could go further depending on tonight. Yes we are 9th and 5 points from the relegation playoff place.... but we are also only 6 points off 4th and I think people forget that. Yes, It would take a miracle to reach top 6, but survival should always be seen as the objective, anything else is a bonus!

  15. I don't know what to make of that. I really couldn't believe the starting line up. It seems strange that all of a sudden both Meekings and Foran are fit enough for a full 90 minutes and that Wedderburn, Horner and Hughes are preferred to Polworth, Williams, Roberts and Storey. Were the 4 of them all injured or unwell to some extent such that they were deemed only fit enough for the bench? I would love to hear what the manager says about that. Despite that, I thought we started pretty positively and took the game to Hibs. But as is so often the case, there was little quality of delivery and neither Foran nor Hughes were sharp enough to look threatening. Slowly Hibs came into the game more and were gifted a couple of soft goals for a half time scoreline they scarcely deserved. Second half we improved with the introduction of Storey and Williams with Storey often threatening down the left wing. I can't fault the effort but it was mostly huff and puff and very little quality. It was the first time I have seen Hughes play and I thought he was very poor. He never seemed to make himself available and did little with the ball on the few occasions he didn't let the defender get to the ball first. It says a lot for the imbalance in the squad that he stayed on the park for the full 97 minutes. Hibs have certainly got quality but they started nervously and ended very nervously after Vigurs' composed finish. They were there for the taking but the sad truth is that we no longer have the quality in the team to exploit these opportunities. We now have a battle to stay in the top flight and on this form I will be mightily relieved if we finish the season in 10th place.

  16. My worry is that some of our better players may move on if this is all we got to look forward to and not being played in their best postions

  17. Let the season end. Frustration after frustration. 2 wins would probably see us safe, although God knows where we're going to get them at the moment. Can barely believe it's the same team that comfortably beat Aberdeen and should have been 2-0 up at parkhead. That was only a month ago but feels like a lifetime!

  19. When you think of the amount of goals we have conceded by defensive/individual errors, surely the manager has to eventually take responsibility? It's the same mistakes time and time again.

  22. I think there has to come a time when the injury list has to stop being an excuse, yes our luck has been rotten this year with injuries, but the fact of the matter is Yogi simply has not recruited well enough, be that lack of support from the board or just poor recruitment I dont know but we really lack pace when storey isn't starting and some of the tactics have been just shocking at times..We are definitely on the verge of being involved in a relegation battle and should we escape this year I really worry for next year under the current management team if this year's recruitment is anything to go by! On a positive note at least Foran managed a start tonight!

  24. not looking good, don't know where a goal is going to come from apart from Hibs scoring more. Should hook Hughes at half time and get Roberts and Storey on.

  26. What struck me when I viewed the highlights (a big thank you to Manfer for getting them set up ) was the number of balls that were booted way over the bar. Surely JH has noticed this flaw and has been working on it at training? If not, he must be mad since some of the efforts , frankly , were rather ridiculous and a complete waste of energy altogether. Even a wee lob into the goalmouth is far superior to a blooter a mile over the bar - every time. Of course, I appreciate that playing against a packed defence like that was a difficult task but even if every ball hit the bar and rebounded then that's another chance to for the boys to score. Also, it's easy to be critical when you are desperate to win but if you don't accent the positive then how are you going to motivate the team? Emotionally, it can't be easy for them to try as hard as they appear to have done and get beaten by one goal. Nervousness and tension must have played a part and it sucks confidence out of any player when relegation is even whispered let alone discussed openly. And talk of sacking John Hughes at this juncture is knee jerking at it's very worst. Bloody madness, no less. This is the worst time to even consider it. The team has already been greatly disrupted by the loss of players, injuries and newbies trying to find their feet so all that could result by taking such an unwise step would be to generate utter chaos and probably relegation. Get behind the team, I say, and let's stop dwelling on so much irritating negativity--please.

From the Inverness Courier : "Danny Devine is keen to tie up his future as soon as possible and sign the two-year contract on offer from Caley Thistle." & "Devine is one of several players to have offers on the table from the club, with Williams, Horner, Liam Polworth and Owain Fon Williams also being offered extensions." http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk//Sport/Football/Caley-Thistle-defender-Danny-Devine-keen-to-resolve-future-after-receiving-offer-of-two-year-extension-15032016.htm

  32. If he doesn't extend and Aberdeen come back in in the Summer renewing their bid of £200,000 then it probably makes commercial sense to sell.

  33. Scott Burns says that we are trying to offer Tansey a new deal. Will be interesting to see what happens here. If he rejects it I suspect a move to Aberdeen will be on the cards. On the plus side it's good to see us making a move to tie down a player (oo er) who still has a wee bit to run on his current deal.

  36. sensible post Stirling i just get the feeling that the majority of people shouting for Hughes head are younger fans more used to success, maybe they have been spoilt the last few seasons and cant rememeber being a football fan is not always going to be about winning.Sure we all want our team to win every game, but those of us old enough to remember being further down the divisions and the struggle to get to where we are can put it in perspective. Last season was a season to remember for sure but some of us realise its not always going to be that way, and a kneejerk reaction in sacking the manager with 2 months to go in the season is not the answer. oh and Jimmy Calderwood is NOT the answer unless the question is which former Aberdeen manager looked like he had been dipped in woodstain?

  38. i suspect, and i may wrong, the original poster Shaun may be a young lad who has only really seen us be succesful. Careful what you wish for though, somone mentioned on twitter yesterday that they wanted Hughes gone and Foran to take over. Remove the manager and replace him with someone with no experience, great thinking

  39. Good to have both cups in the Highlands I hope both clubs can get together to show them off. Both Cups up here are a great advert for football in the Highlands. We dipped after our Cup final defeat. There's still a lot to do but County have just given us a helping hand for Wednesday night. Im also pleased for our neighbours it was a big thing for us last May so it's a big thing for them now, however I would have probably felt more envious if they had won a Cup before us.

  40. Reasons to be cheerful 1) We have the Big cup, County have the wee one! 2) Hoping ICT will be playing a deflated Hibs this Wednesday! 3) The CBB (Central Belt Biased) media can't ignore the Highlands teams any more. Winning both cups is no fluke!

  41. A Few years ago more than I wish to remember . Stockport had a banner " Go Go County " I am reminded of that today As a newcomer to these parts I have no history of bitterness to our Northern rivals. I can congratulate Ross County , and feel that both cups residing in the Highlands is a dream that years ago would be totally unbelievable. It is up to Caley to extend that by more than the 2 months or so left.

Raises major questions over our management team and their ability to bring in players. Relegation battle ahead and fear the worst under this clown.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner

    • Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Second Leg (0-0)
As much as we have criticised the Caley Jags performance on Tuesday night, let's not lose sight of the fact that Montrose are a decent League 1 side with a good blend of experience and talented prospects. For our part, let's keep them as a good League 1 side and that means no room for faffing about. Time has run out now, there's no hiding places and no room for shirkers. Ditch the sideways passing or put goal posts in front of the Main Stand and tuck shops.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.
