  6. Oops I see the problem. Could the interview not have been done on Wednesday when all the media staff employees of ICTFC etc were at the stadium rather than doing it right after the game. It would have given Richie a little breathing space and a night to analyse what went wrong. I might be wrong here but If we had won they might have managed

  8. Heading for last chance saloon The games keep rolling in and this weekend it's the turn of Dundee to take on the challenge of the six-pointer as they visit the Caledonian Stadium for a 3:00pm kick off, with Billy Mckay sure to pull in an extra few bums on seats to see if he can rescue our season. Midweek at Hamilton was a disaster for us as we turned in an abysmal display and deservedly got turned over by Accies who looked to have the better appetite for a relegation dogfight. Richie Foran drew audible gasps from the Caley Jags fans by re-signing (on loan) our favourite son, the almost prolific Billy Mckay until the end of the season. However, Accies had their own agenda and went about their business in the right manner. We showed Billy how far we have come from the successful team he left two years ago. Sadly that direction is downwards and with little leadership on and off the park, it's difficult to see where and when that will change. So, 3-0 it was to Accies and the most disappointing aspects from our point of view was the lack of quality, leadership and desire on display. We played with no recognised wide players, instead deploying them on the bench and choosing to thump long high balls up to a vertically challenged striker. Can someone tell Richie that isn't working too well. Dundee had a night off in midweek and now have a game in hand, as have Killie and Motherwell from the bottom half of the league. Their last game saw them go down 3-0 at Pittodrie. They were also dabbling in the transfer window and took on Henrik Ojamaa the Estonian ex-Motherwell striker and they also hired former Ross County midfielder Marc Klok. Dundee have lost as many games as Inverness (12), but have won twice as many (6). They sit two places above Inverness in tenth place having accumulated five more points than us. They ended a barren spell against Inverness with a 2-1 victory at Dens Park in November. Since that game, they have lost four and won two with one drawn, gaining seven points. We have failed to win any, losing five and drawing three from eight games. We are on our worst ever league run, no wins from twelve games since we defeated Motherwell in October. The stats don't lie I'm afraid and that's why we prop up the league table. Many fans are beginning to question the judgement of the board in appointing a rookie manager with no credentials whatsoever and giving him a four year contract. Practically everybody was delighted that Richie Foran followed John Hughes and were willing him to succeed. However, it's a results driven business and we are languishing precariously close to the dreaded relegation slot with only three wins from 23 league games. That in itself is a shocking statistic that will only lead to one thing. A lot of fans were coming out of the woodwork after the Hamilton debacle to vent their displeasure at the demise of our club and many are looking for a change of leadership. As results show, we are bottom on merit and the game at Accies was the last straw for many. Maybe in the harsh light of day, we have all had time to reflect on this. We have been talking about six-pointers for a few weeks now and we have failed in every one of them. However, there is still not a huge gap between us in bottom to Motherwell in sixth (seven points). I doubt anyone wants Foran to fail, but unless we start to win some games, there appears little doubt as to where we will be playing our football next season. It shouldn't come as a massive surprise to anyone although it's taken a long time for some to get their heads out of the sand and see the reality of our position. If it's any consolation, the Dundee fans feel the same about their side! Josh Meekings, Kevin McNaughton, and Lewis Horner are all out long term. Aaron Doran hopes to have shaken off this virus that has been going through our dressing room and forced him to miss the midweek game and Billy King is also a doubt. It looks as though a calf injury will keep David Raven out. Jamie McCart could make his debut in defence following his signing from Celtic. Dundee will have Kevin Holt back after injury and Darren O'Dea will return after suspension. Henrik Ojamaa could make his Dundee debut along with Marc Klok. tm4tj prediction:- It pains me to say, but with no confidence, no leadership, no defence, no tactical nous and not enough quality in the squad, I can see Dundee getting their second win over us this season. What can we do to stop this happening. Well, we need to get rid of the players who are not pulling their weight and put players on the park who will display some fight for the jersey. How about some wide players to give Billy Mckay some half decent service that he will thrive on, not rugby style punts that fall on the heads of the towering defenders. If fit, get Mulraney, King and Doran on the park and dump Vigurs, Tansey and Warren onto the bench. Fon Williams needs a break, his goal keeping has been sloppy of late bar the odd game or two. I hope Esson is fit enough to play. Our pedantic midfield needs a massive kick up the arse, let's hope we don't capitulate as easy as has been happening most of this season. Draw at best, but defeat is on the cards. Go on, prove me wrong, I'll be delighted. Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger

  9. From what I can gather these are the players out or struggling for tomorrow Out McNaughton Horner Meekings Doran Struggling Raven King If King misses out that leaves us with one natural wide player in Mulraney. That means a good chance of a chronic lack of width in the team come 3pm a la Hamilton in midweek

  11. I agree with IHE. The target must be tenth place but on what planet were we 'challenging for top six' last week ? That ship sailed well before Christmas.

  12. Richie's last strart was the cup game against Hibs which was if I recall his first game in almost a year then and he was utter mince, I'm sure in the last 9 months with next to no training or game time I hardly think he will be our saviour. If anything he needs to be phoning and talking to any experienced manager or coaching contacts he has to try figure out how to defend and improve the playing style.

  15. His team may be three points adrift at the foot of the Premiership but Inverness CT boss Richie Foran says the board has been supportive and he is not in danger of being sacked. "We were challenging for the top six last week, now it's a relegation battle. Two or three wins gets us back challenging for the top six, but they need to come," says the Irishman. (Sun)

  16. Assuming fit is this who we have? Foran Gary Warren Ross Draper Owain Fon Williams Liam Polworth Scott Boden Esson Meekings? Aaron Doran Raven Vigurs Mulraney Tremarco Tansey Horner?? McNaughton? King Sutherland Mackay Fisher Brad Mckay Cole Anier . Esson Raven Mcart Mckay Tremarco Doran Fisher Foran Draper Cole . . Billy Mckay Philosophy is akin to when Scotland ground out results against better teams under Walter Smith. Wingers stay wide. If you insist Foran won't play himself, then Sutherland starts for me instead. Great wee player from what I've seen and not shy at workrate, maybe a bit light but merits a start at least. Possible replacement in Anier.

  17. Frankly, Dougal, considering how low the crowd numbers are these days it's surprising that there is any money left over to pay the players' wages week in and week out at all. Neither the Board, nor Richie for that matter, has (apparently) many arrows left in their respective quivers to allow them to save the day. What it boils down to, it seems, is that the Manager and the Players have a real ding-dong heart -to-heart talk and resolve to get out there and play their hearts out in the next match to save face, souls and the club.

  18. my son and I are first time season ticket holders and do try to sing along with the young team, but it really surprises me that most don't bother, but in fact boo every miss placed pass or tackle, we all need to get behind the lads, hopefully if we can provide some atmosphere on Saturday they might just feed off it!

  20. OFW MacKay Warren Meekings Tremarco Draper Polworth Doran Cole King McKay With Billy back, I reckon the best chance to get him scoring is to play the system he was used to last time he was here - fullbacks have to focus on defence and feed the wide-men - who have to stay wide, not all get sucked into the middle. Cole has decent vision, and with Mulraney, King and Doran we have three players who are best when they play wide. Midfield is weak at the moment, but I think Polwarth and Vigurs could both do a job in there alongside Draper if they knuckle down. Hoping for the best, but not super-confident. I don't think we've really adapted to losing Graeme Shinnie - Tremarco has been heroic going forward, but he doesn't have the same eye for a pass.

  21. Losing the early (or at least first goal) is a MASSIVE issue for us. We've conceded the opening goal in a staggering 74% of our matches this season and have been in a losing position at half time in over 60% of our games so far. We're being outscored by a factor of 2:1 in the first half. Unfortunately as soon as something goes wrong the fans are on top of the players and seldom get behind them. Obviously some of the stuff served up recently has been mince but it is a bit disappointing that some seem to be more than willing to be vocal in their criticism but seldom give the same amount level of support to the team.

  22. My point is not that players left when he was in charge - players will always move on - it was his complete inability to bring in comparable players that was the problem.

  23. I was excited as anyone about Billy McKay and he tried, but the team clearly weren't used to him going by all the passes aimed over his head to the marginally taller HAFC player marking him. It was obvious last night the line-up wasn't right. We need to wait until Saturday to see if things have meshed any better and if Foran goes with a saner line-up. And stops going easy on the lazy players.

  24. Remember that Hughes took over when we were flying in 2nd place. He left us 5 places lower. During his tenure Ross, G Shinnie, Watkins, Vincent, Mckay, Devine, Williams and Christie left. Can you name any outfield players he signed who have remained for Foran to work with and who could be regarded as replacements of equal or better quality? (Keeper excepted OFW in, Brill out - much of a muchness). This despite the significantly higher player budget than Butcher had. Don't get me started about the style of play. Last season was the most boring football I have seen anywhere, any time.

  26. I haven't voted, results are just as good as a poll. This season I haven't been overly concerned, or should really say worried, regarding the points on the board, until now. The points tally to date is irrelevant if another 6 teams are mediocre then they will never be far away, it's just the other teams are all beating each other and creeping up the table. It really is time for action on Saturday not kamikaze but a well thought well planned gutsy performance. Get the fans on side. I want to see the Richie who scores goals with his face, I want to see the Richie who shouts his mouth of on the pitch, I want to see the Richie who I thought was going to get sent off for grabbing Hayes by the throat for not putting enough effort in against Dunfermline. Its time for that guy to make an appearance. As for the players if we go down the club can't afford your wages next season. Inverness is a horrible place to come. That long slow awful A9. That exposed cold miserable stadium. Worst of all our awful mouthy fans, let's give Dundee as hard a time as we can and let Foran get on with his job of getting stuck into his players. A passionate expressive match will go a long way to calm things down. But we don't want to settle for that, we go again the following week and every week from now on. Just get stuck in.

  27. Richie has clearly tried to be positive and show belief in his players to prevent a spiral of negativity when confidence will naturally be low. Hamilton was the final straw for this approach and he clearly has changed his tact. Some arse kicking is in the post! Let's see how it goes. Our Warren's, tanseys and drapers are letting us down. Let's make them right for their place. All ready this season we have had hartely, McIntyre and canning under pressure. Now it's Richie's turn but he needs a chance to sort it out.

  28. OFW Mckay Warren Meekings Tremarco Draper Doran Polly King Anier Billy Assuming Meekings is back and King otherwise a back four with Raven at RB and Cole instead of KIng. We have Polly who can drop deep to support Draper and Anier who can do the link up between midfield and Billy upfront. We need the wide players to stay wide and run, I cant recall last time I saw a cross from the byline or beyond the 18 yard box - we need balls for Billy to try latch onto, not to try win in the air or fight against the opposition CB's.

  31. Because I can't be arsed typing it out again, lazy cut and paste of my post on P&B in response to a still-pessimistic Accies supporter who suggested that we would probably 'have the guts' to get rid of Foran before it's too late: I'm not sure the board will have the guts. They gave him a four-year contract - presumably the cheap option, although it was sold as building for the future - so it would cost them a fair bit to pay him off. The decision they face now is whether it's worth getting shot and hoping we can get someone in who can keep the club up, or accepting that we're going down and starting to budget for a season in the Championship. There's absolutely no way we're staying up under Foran though - the central midfield partnership that won the Scottish Cup and got us to a clear third two seasons ago looked scared of the ball tonight, and he had two more central midfielders allegedly playing wide. We've looked clueless tactically for months now, and if he's lost the dressing room, as it appears, then it's game over. I genuinely can't remember witnessing a worse ICT performance, and that includes a game when we were 5-0 down to Airdrie at half time, when Steve Paterson had presumably had the players in the casino until 7am the night before. Just to add: I'm not sure whether we do have the right balance of players to stay up even under a more experienced manager, but I do know that most of the players on show tonight are capable of playing with far more guile and far more passion than they showed tonight. Also, while Foran slating the players tonight post-match was understandable, I don't think it's likely to produce the positive reaction that we badly need, especially as his tactics have been so clearly at fault too. Don't ask me who a suitable replacement would be, though, because I don't have a clue.

  32. Well that is McCart on from the start. That could be a good pairing with Warren. Mckay and Anier up front. Brad and Tremarco at the back sounds sound. All depends on the midfield choices. STOP feckin talking about the TOP SIX. Notice how he stuttered a wee bit at the challenge question and the tone of his voice lowered. "They are all up for the challenge" Sack question and goes into defence mode. It clearly has been mentioned. No to the experienced "guide" puts him totally on the results chopping block. Too much emphasis on Mckay and Anier. That to me was a false Foran and a totally (but understandably) rigged interview. Good Luck tomorrow Richie

  33. The manager gave a very full, 3 minute plus, interview to Charlie Mann of BBC Scotland after the Hamilton game. This is also quoted on BBC online and in addition he spoke to the written press. Having on very many occasions interviewed football managers just minutes after very painful, damaging and indeed career-threatening defeats, I have to say that, in the vast majority of cases, I only have the greatest of regard and respect for what they come out and do. OK, they are contractually obliged to do much of it but it really must be so hard on many occasions since they are severely hurting not only from a sporting/competitive point of view, but often with respect to their professional futures..

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!
