  1. I feel sorry for him. He's settled in Inverness and his family are here. I wish him all the best for the future. Sad we had such a rotten season with him at the helm.
  2. I do fear if we do keep Richie Foran for next season for a number of factors. I also think that any suggestions of RF being kept in an alternative role (i.e assistant) would be a incredibly bad idea and a disaster waiting to happen. - His recruitment was poor and will inevitably be harder in the Championship with less money and the club being less of an attraction. - He had a team that was on paper not the 12th ranked team in the league and underperformed massively. The team assembled for next season will not imo be one of the top 2 squads in the league therefore we will have a need for a manager that can get the best out of his players if we have aspirations of returning to the top flight. - His man management skills are below par and 'stories' of fall outs and discontent coupled with remarkable post match interviews anywhere else would not have been tolerated. I sincerely hope the board are trying to find funds or a replacement during this period of silence from the club. You would like to think that despite the 4 year contract, there would be something inserted stating that in the event of relegation full severance would not be paid, although that sounds too much like common sense for the ICT board. Many fans I know and from reading posts on here, it seems that a large amount of season ticket renewals will be hanging in the balance until the fans have a clearer picture of the way ahead.
  3. Totally..I remember being at the pre-season Q & A session they had & felt fairly positive about RF - it hasn't worked (obviously!) & change desparately needed. Sure BR is a decent guy but there doesn't seem to be much of a relationship with RF & he is very much Yogi's guy. Echo the sentiment that we need a clear change & both RF & BR need to go - I was just thinking of what would be the way to go if the board keep RF (definetly NOT the way forward, imho). Just want whats best for the club..we've appointed well, in the main, apart from recent decisions

Its a whos-who of nightmares listed here - missed off Walter, Jocky Scott and fat s-Ally just to make sure all the nightmare bingo card was completed
  6. A great shame for Richie who will, without doubt, always be fondly remembered by ICT fans for the stalwart work and commitment he showed as a player but it clearly wasn't working out as manager and was showing no sign of doing so, so it was the right decision albeit a sad and difficult one. Congratulations to the new regime for having the courage to take this decision rather continuing with the damaging uncertainty and disunity. Now that the decision has been made can we please all reunite and get fully behind the new management team whoever they may be. As far as Richie is concerned, if he has walked then credit to him and shows him to be the man we thought he was rather than the man he was risking becoming. Sincere and heartfelt good wishes to him and his young family whatever the future may hold for them. Let the next chapter in our short but glorious story begin.
  7. Always gave his all as a player, scored some of my favourite Caley thistle goals, sorry his season in charge went the way it did, good luck Richie
  8. Of course you have to feel for him on a personal level. No doubt he had great dreams of establishing himself as a great ICT manager, and it must be painful to accept the reality. However, time is the healer, and I hope he finds something where he will prosper. But it had to happen, he backed himself into a corner and there was no realistic prospect, or indeed evidence, that he could get the club and himself out of it. It was always too much too soon for him. Maybe he will feel a relief at the pressure being taken off him - management is unbelievably stressful, and the last months can't have been much fun. I have no doubt the board were also cognisant of the fans' views on the matter, which was almost universal, and it would have been next to impossible to carry on with such opposition, liable to spill over into an unpleasant and uncomfortable atmosphere. But now we can look forward to what was always necessary - a clean break, with new faces, and some real optimism and hope for next season. We made some terrible mistakes last season, but we have the core of a great club, with a great, if short, tradition. There is no reason we can't regain that and get back to where we were. What a relief.
  9. I also feel sorry for him and hope he finds a future role in the game. A great servant to the club, and a shame things did not work out as Manager. Hopefully everyone respects that and, as when Kenny Cameron stepped down, we remember the good times. That said, whether it was the club's decision of his, it is the right one. Thanks for the memories Richie, a shame last season did not work out, but all the best!!
  10. It's a shame to be happy about someone losing their job, especially someone so loyal to the club, but it's the right decision. Wish him all the best, and maybe he starts his coaching/managing career from scratch he can rebuild.
  11. Pretty sad for him that it didnt work out. Was totally on board with his appointment and so wanted it to work. And its not as if i expected miracles....maybe a run in the cups and a 6th - 10th place finnish would have been enuff for me. But alas, it wasnt to be. Wonder where that leaves Richie now. I do feel we had a man with the club and the area deep in his heart.
  12. Whether you like it or not Rice was a Hughes boy and him hanging around is imvho part of the problem and needs to the go. Whether i like it or not, as i was excited at Forans appointment, it has not worked at all and he also needs to go

We have just parted company with a manager who very much wanted to manage ICT. That's not the be all and end all. Ability and enthusiasm for the task while they are here are much more important.
  14. Goodness me, can people stop suggesting that he walked, or might not want compensation, just days after he stated that he was determined to carry on and bring us back up!
  15. 2 points
Must be why Wenger is saying that his future will be clear by Thursday.
  16. While the directors have to shoulder some of the responsibility nobody put a gun to his head to take the job. I presume he had to convince them he was ready. I agree the better course should have either been as assistant or to go to a lower league club to learn the trade for a few seasons. Also interesting that the statement says he left the club but doesn't make clear under what circumstance.

Irish people aren't foreign, despite the Republic being an independent nation. I've mentioned him before but Paul Telfer was very close to getting the job when Hughes did. We've done well recruiting from the lower English leagues and he'd have a lot of contacts down there, as well as Scotland and America. He'd be an intriguing choice.

Wasn't Richie Foran a foreign manager (technically..)? Nitpicking aside (sorry!), I'd rather someone with a good knowledge of Scottish football.
  19. Genuinely feel sorry for him. I was really hoping it was going to work at the start of the season but it just hasn't, at all. Will we ever have another manager that loves the club and the area as much as he does? I doubt it.
  20. Yup its a sad end for a true club legend but not undeserved after last season. Hope he moves on to good things in his pastures new. Best of luck to him for the future he does deserve it really, he was just out of his depth.
  21. It's not Brian Rice's fault we were relegated so what's good for one should be the same for the other. The board should get a pair and do what the fans desperately want - A NEW FEKIN MANAGER

    Get L_G back.
  23. I have heard from impeccable sources, from outwith the club but still impeccable, that Richie Foran was at the Stadium during last week and was re-engaging and disposing of players. Given the clear need for fans, including potential season ticket purchasers, for potential sponsors and even for the public in general to know what is happening after this unfortunate relegation, there must surely be some urgency for the Board to break with tradition and supply the necessary information.
  24. Please. Continue, i missed this.
  25. Why not indeed? CC stayed with the club after standing down from the dugout (although I realise the circumstances are totally different - but there IS a precedence). I wouldn't be against RF having some involvment with the club in the future - a legend as a player, will always be gutted for Richie that it didn't work out for him as manager..
  26. Despite my desperation for this outcome, it isn't possible to celebrate it now that it has become a reality. On a human level, a guy who loved the club with every fibre of his being has lost his job and deserves our sympathy. If only he'd been offered/accepted help from an experienced head several months ago, the outcome woild have been different, I am sure. If he walked for the good of the club, then respect to him... I wish him well wherever he goes. From the football perspective, this was the right outcome, if a few months too late. Let's hope the damage is not totally irreversible. Now we need to act fast to get the right person in to settle the squad and give us a pop at promotion. I have no idea who that might be, but experience must be top of the shopping list. Fingers crossed that the Board get this appointment right.

We need a manager who wants to manage ICT ,as opposed to a manager looking for a job, if that makes sense?
  28. Bottom line Is this was the only sensible decision going forward. Have to separate Foran the player from Foran the manager. As a player was everything you want, quite the opposite as manager. Lessons to be learned all round, but we have to move on in an upward manner. Unfortunately due to mismanagement at both Board level and Management of football side, a lot of people's jobs are at risk.

From watching Brechin, only on TV, in their play off final, I'd be inclined to give Darren Dods a go. But, whoever it is, I hope the new board is sensible enough NOT to award the new guy with a 4 year contract.
  30. Spot on. If he had intended to 'walk' he'd have done it ages ago. So, a good chunk of compensation will have been agreed I feel sure. Anyway, that is the end of a sorry chapter in our history. Let us hope that the glory days return soon.

Jack Ross. He won't be interested though, and would likely cost too much anyway!

Jack Ross has done a great job at St Mirren and previously at Alloa one of the best young Managers in Scotland

    Heimir Guðjónsson.
  34. In a bizarre episode of synchronicity David Bingham has left Lowland League side Whitehill just as the ICT job becomes vacant...
  35. Likewise - I really wanted Richie to succeed, but it just hasn't worked. Lets remember Richie as an inspirational player & captain. He isn't the 1st player to struggle with the move into management (Franck Sauzee & Willie Miller spring to mind) and both are, rightly, still regarded as legends by their respective clubs. Lets do likewise with Richie & wish him all the best for the future

I know we have all been critical of the club of late and some of the recent comments have been over the top! However we really need to start getting the basics right for instance I was down at the stadium this morning hoping to purchase a new away top for my son and surprise surprise the club shop was closed with no notification of whether it would be open or not! The doors to reception were also closed. Do they want our money? Granted I could have phoned / tweeted beforehand to check but come on it was 10.45 on a Saturday morning and I grudge spending my work lunch time through the week going down to the shop. It's time we got our act together its little or basic things like this that gives off the impression that we have a amateur set up! I do not want to blame individuals here but the club as a whole who really need to step up a gear!
  37. I suspect that we will stick with Foran and an experienced No2. As we ponder this inevitability , let us look at the fates of the twenty managers with the worst win percentages in the SPL since season 1998/99 and ultimately relegated the SPL teams they managed :- 10 were sacked (before or at end of season) 2 resigned 1 club went bust 1 retired 1 decision yet to be announced. 5 managed relegated team in 1st division Of the 5 that led their team in the 1st division :- None secured promotion back to the Premier League 4 were sacked 1 left to manage a bigger club Hopefully Foran can buck the trend and be the first relegated manager ,who features in the top twenty managers with the worst win percentages in the SPL since season 1998/99 , to secure promotion.

This aspect of the club is really needing a revamp. We'll need every penny we can lay our hands on next season and this is an important revenue source.
  39. Over 700 members of the supporters trust and over 1,300 followers on facebook. But I would definitely say that individuals should also contact the club direct, the more the better to get the true feelings of the fans over to the board.
  40. You would think after a whole week of meetings the board & new chairman could have released a statement about Richie's future. The only positive I had after being relegated was that common sense would prevail and Foran would be replaced asap. Yet nothing so far! Reading most of the posts on here suggests that there are more reasons why it is time for Foran to go, the only sticking point is his contract/compensation package. If Foran stay's I can't see any positives. After watching every game this season it became apparent early on for everyone to see that the appointment was a catastrophic blunder! Don't think I can watch another season if he remains manager. And it pains me to say I will probably not be renewing my season ticket. I believe both the players & ICT fans deserve better!
  41. Armstrong was indeed let go because of relegation - we didn't field an u20 team (or whatever the equivalent was called then) when we were in the first division, so Armstrong was one of a lost generation. Regrettable! I assume that similar considerations are being made right now for next season - hopefully there is a realisation that youth is the most cost-effective option for filling holes in the first team squad. as for Bowden and Mulraney - I'm not surprised on either count, but I think Mulraney could tear up the championship. I think it was against Dunfermline this season that he was unplayable. Unfortunately, it seems that Foran is still making the decisions. He should have been relieved of any role in decision making, given his track record over the season. The worst apple is still at the club and must be removed immediately.
  42. My final word on Scottish Cup Final - Johnny Hayes and Stuart Armstrong were the best two players on the pitch.

Great FA Cup Final today and richly deserved win for Arsenal, who could/should have scored 5 or 6. Two big calls by referee, both spot on imo. Firstly, overturning the linesman's offside decision for Arsenal's first goal, and secondly, being brave enough to give Moses a second yellow (and therefore a sending off) for his clear dive in the penalty box. A lot of referees could learn from this. Well done to the ref. They often take a lot of stick, but this one got the big decisions right.
  44. Yes it was a very special day but I felt quite sad that evening with the thought that it could never be this good again. I echo your thoughts about that fantastic week when we snatched promotion to the Premiership - I rate the Clyde and St Johnstone games as my all time favourite footy moments, and getting to hold the league trophy at the end of season party was pure magic!

Two very good cup finals today. Felt sorry for Aberdeen coming up blank this season, they came close today with a great effort, but hats off to Brendan Rodgers and his team for a class act this season, they deserve the plaudits. Both games were great adverts for the game of football - pity the quality of entertainment on display at Hampden didn't represent the quality of our Premiership as a whole.
  46. Yet another IHE stooge on the board.
  47. Probably far too late but '2015 Scottish Cup winners' car window stickers would have been a good seller - I asked at the club shop/portakabin' at the time, as I naievely assumed the club would have sold this..saw a car with 'St Johnstone 2014 Scottish Cup winners' and thought 'I'd like an ICT version...'. Maybe '2017/18 Petrofac cup winners' or '2017/18 Scottish Championship Champions', in an ideal world....
  48. Would agree with that...even a wee monthly direct debit thing might be an idea. Wouldn't generate vast sums of money in the grand scheme of things but could make a tangible contribution towards something positive
  49. I really don't understand this having to pay out the remainder of manager contracts. Would love to know the employment law position. In any other walk of life, complete ineptitude is not rewarded by paying off the said employee for x number of years while they sit back with pipe and slippers and someone new has to pick up the pieces.
  50. World take Butcher back in an instant. He has his detractors, but given time the man knows how to build a team on a budget. Most of the current squad are still his players. No awkward transition phase required.
