He can't seem to stay in one place long. Booted from Watford after effectively getting the boot from Caley Thistle, signed by Colchester. Now loaned out to Torquay. 4 teams in one season... and it's only November! Hopefully when he goes through to meet his new team mates, he doesn't get lost in Carlisle and Manchester for a week again! Mind you, that would be some de-tour!

I always thought there was a FIFA rule that only allowed a player to play for 2 clubs in one season

Anyone heard of that rule?

I think though he still fits in that criteria since he hasn't played a first team game for Watford or Colchester this season.

This also got me thinking... What is the record for most clubs in one season in Scottish or British football?

Think it might be Mikael Antoine-Curier. Trevor Benjamin must win most clubs in a career.

This from fifa rules:

Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during

one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play

offi cial matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player

moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping

seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to

winter/spring) may be eligible to play in offi cial matches for a third

club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with

his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs.

I think the key to all this is that only two clubs have held his registration. A player who goes out on loan does not take his registration with him. That stays with his club. Aldred was at Watford when he came on loan to us. I believe they were unhappy at his actions when he was here so moved him on to Colchester on a free. Colchester now hold his registration but haven't played him, instead sending him to Torquay on loan.

There are definitely exceptions made to this rule .... I can think of several players in MLS this season who moved between 3 and 4 clubs respectively !!! not sure exactly how you get round the rule, but in MLS' case I believe it is because it is a "single entity league" whatever that means !

Dwayne DeRosario: Toronto --> New York --> DC United

Tony Tchani: New York --> Toronto --> Columbus

Dax McCarty: Dallas --> Portland --> DC United --> New York
