Honestly believe if Richie had not benched him for those three months we would not have been relegated & Alex would still be playing for ICT next season. Foran what an absolute plonker!

New Chairman, new board members - same breathtakingly poorly constructed board statements, seemingly etched on the back of a cornflakes packet with crayons borrowed from sevco's press department. Does no one on the board actually proof read these statements before they're issued? I was under the impression that the board was littered with Fortune 500 captains of industry. Given they all seem to be retired/semi-retired heavy hitters surely they could wheel one of them into the stadium, between rounds of golf and afternoon G&Ts, to cast an eye over this opus before it's fired into the cyber world to echo through eternity. Suffice to say if someone put a statement of that quality in front of me at work they'd drown in a sea of red ink. If we move on to the actual content of said statement we quickly get to the following molten bronze pearl of wisdom..... "It is important that we select the right person for this key position.". Wow!, just wow! Although factually correct this could possibly be the greatest understatement since Captain Oates advised that he was going outside and might be some time. Given how poor their last selection was I would have thought the importance of not picking another clanger was abundantly clear to all and a more impassioned statement would have been appropriate at this juncture. Moving quickly to the retained playing staff, assuming we're successful in agreeing deals with Cammy MacKay and Kevin McNaughton that would leave us with 14 signed players, including three (3) goalkeepers. Perhaps a slight over provision in the goalkeeping region given the paucity of outfield players...just a thought. Least said about the ex Newport County retainee, soonest mended. I'm also intrigued by the "others targets" statement. Targeted by whom precisely? Rice? Kellacher? Tommy Cumming? a long serving G4S steward? It simply beggars belief that these guys think they're capable of identifying players who the new manager will ultimately have to work with. Retaining contracted players is one thing, bringing in square pegs to fit into a new manager's round holes seems to be a rather foolish enterprise, but hey, we're good at that these days. Enough already, I'm away for a lie down in a darkened room....
  3. Dougal, you are such a feckin peni5. I will be buying a season tkt, and what would be the point in taking 20 or 25 quid off the price? would that get another 250-300 buying season tkts? no! A fan has loyalty to the club (not you) and giving them support by buying a season tkt will help, We don not have a Roy Macgregor who can write off a million quid every year. Negative **** brains are not required, the board have sorted out one problem, give them a chance to move forward.

I'd be amazed if we go for someone like Aitken. I doubt (and hope) that none of the speculation is relevant - we've just revamped the board so it's doubtful that journalists will have relevant contacts with people at the club to get inside scoops on what is going on. Our fans do seem to be obsessed with returning to previous managers and ex-players. If Sheerin hadn't played for us, literally nobody would be suggesting him as a candidate
  5. Your attitude epitomises everything that is wrong with certain sections of the ICT support The boards decision to freeze ticket prices to SPFL prices is an absolute disgrace but as long as belters like yourself just accept it well then they can get away with anything they want and they will continue to do so in the future Sadly we don't have football men in the boardroom anymore and it's obvious they can't communicate with the ordinary fan We will never know how many season tickets will be down this year because the board don't have the balls to release figures but it will be substantial due to this ludicrous decision whether you buy one or not Dougal
  6. Having been a ST holder since the early days of div 3, I was resigned to not renewing this year if RF was still at the helm as the footie has been guff to say the least. When the announcement was made that RF had left the building, I changed my mind regardless of who the new manager would be. Only to find that I'm expected to pay SPL prices for Championship footie!! The club have taken our loyalty for granted for too long now. Consequently, unless there is a U-turn, I won't be renewing and will pick and choose which games I attend! Like other posters on here, I feel that once this malaise sets in then the "can't be bothered" syndrome may show it's head. Sadly, I expect ST numbers to be significantly down this season and as our attendances aren't the best this will inevitably have a long term effect on the club. Get a grip ICT!!
  7. Even though I struggle to get to every home game, I had fully intended to renew my ST purely just to support the club from the offset, however given we now find ourselves a Cship outfit I fully expected my ticket price to drop by at least £50, which I was still willing to pay. The fact that not only has it remained the same, but there appears to not even be a well thought out and calculated rationale to accompany it, means I will not be renewing out of principle and will instead suit myself week by week which games I attend which sadly always inevitably results in losing touch in general. It feels as if the board have just got a complete lack of regard for the long season suffering faithful fans that turned up last season and rather than reward us and encourage others to take the plunge their happier purely robbing the far too loyal fraternity that won't even question it
  8. There is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone who renews their season ticket at these prices for next season if they wish to do it. I will be renewing mine as I want to see my club survive and prosper. Appreciate some people will not want to or can afford to but that is their choice. If anyone is a belter it is you as I am at a loss as to why you even support ICT, if you actually do.

I think it's quite interesting that the folk who are, at least on Twitter anyway, disgusted that Foran was canned are the same ones celebrating Cameron leaving the club. Seems like they can't see the link between the two...
  10. 3 points
I have no doubt he will thrive there, as he would have done here, if given the chance. I also believe he would have scored enough goals to keep us up. Thanks, Richie.

Dont know anything about him but that article about Aitken is a pretty good sell job on his abilities. Ability to work on a shoestring, an eye for a player, attractive football, and used to rebuilding after losing players to bigger (or richer) clubs .... sounds like a good fit. I also like the idea of Sheerin but I have reservations on that front. We have just dispensed with one club playing legend who couldn't get the job done in the big chair and it would be sad if we employed another club legend and the same fate befell him.
  12. 3 points
Second that - would have loved to have had him here next season but who can blame him for signing a 2 year deal with Motherwell after the way he was treated? All the best, Alex - we will miss you
  13. If I win the Euro Millions tonight, I'm buying the club.
  14. 3 points
Rice came in after the Scottish cup when we started to decline...... is he actually part of the problem would be my question?
  15. 3 points
The facts are that we need to appoint someone with experience to get us out of this mess. It's the board's responsibility to find the funds!
  16. Sad to read that but I find myself in a similar boat. As Hislop notes the prices dropped by around £100 when we were relegated last time. To have no reduction at all this time round is really quite surprising. I'd imagine walk up prices will remain largely the same next season. You need only look at the crowd that was there for the Hamilton game a few weeks before the end of the season to see just how much attendances at the ground have fallen in the last wee while. There couldn't have been 2,000 people there that day and if the club continues to charge Premiership level prices for ST and match day tickets I'd expect more crowds like the one we got against Hamilton throughout 17/18.

It's been all downhill for Chris since CountyAir.
  18. Yes you'll be pleased that your County season ticket is cheaper this year.

Very sad reading in the Courier of the treatment handed out to Alex Fisher .I can't bear to think how it's affected the outcome of our season . Just want to wish him well for his future and hope he gets the respect he deserves from his next club .The fans showed him what they thought of him .....If only ... but hindsight is a wonderful thing !!
  20. Should CJT not have done something like this 6 months ago when it was obvious we were headed for relegation? Their lack of communication has been equally as concerning as that of the Board's IMO!
  21. 2 points
Yeah, totally echo your sentiments. All the best to the big man and lovely parting comment when he said that he would not rule out coming back one day to ict. Maximum Respect

For all the folk who wanted Cameron to go how are folk feeling about the changes in the board?
  23. 2 points
I'd much rather take a chance on him than Paul Sheerin. Young manager, learned a lot and has experience in the league.
  24. I'm glad to see CJT have finally appeared from their own seclusion to announce on fb that they want to hear from fans. I sent them a private message along the lines that they need to outline our disgust to the board asap. I even suggested the starting of a petition asking for the club to offer a discount. Cable guy hits the nail on the head. A £50 discount is far and above a decent compromise where fans are rewarded for their continued loyalty after last season and the board receives much needed funds. I fear that many people are going to be put off renewing their STs and then the board will have even less funds to help the club. Nobody will win that way! I really hope the board and CJT will open up some kind of dialogue over the weekend, with the hope of coming to a compromise and a fair discount for fans. It's the least we deserve!
  25. Yes the season ticket is more than I was expecting but I will be renewing it and I urge everybody who can to renew also. The club needs us more than ever at this point. The new Chairman and Board have made a tough but correct decision with Richie Foran and they must now get it right with the new manager but in the meantime we as fans must give them the benefit of the doubt and show out unity and support by buying season tickets and showing our support in anyway we can.
  26. Not so sunny today ... so I've put the jetski to one side and have put more effort into the search for our new manager
  27. 2 points
Yes, I think we've got it now Charles...

The club should introduce 5 or 10 game flexi tickets. This would be ideal for fans who can't get to every home game or fans based in the Central belt. The club gets the money upfront and fans can pick and choose which tickets to use.
  29. Go Rich! Nae splinters in your erse
  30. Sorry guys, but the idea of paying the same amount next year for a poorer product is crazy from the Board. Just a gesture to reward the ST holders for their loyalty through a horror show of a season would have been enough to convince me to buy. I understand that they need the cash, but I fear that their income will be more seriously hit by this decision than it would have been if they'd reduced the price by, say, £30. As it happens, I'll only be able to make a small percentage of the games this season, but I might have been minded to make a donation to the club by way of a season ticket purchase, had they been sensible about pricing. I think I'll sponsor a player or something instead...talk about being taken for granted.

James McFadden went through my mind earlier. A top player, probably has contacts around Britain, just left Motherwell. Would be the type of person I can imagine getting a job at a Championship team.

Maybe we're seeing the the "volunteers" were not so volunteery?

Scott Macdonald player/manager. You heard it first here.
  34. Well spotted. A very curious turn of events.
  35. Looking at the club's publicly available filing record at Companies House today (web-link below), it says that Willie Finlayson resigned as a director on 22 May, the day before the club announcement of his appointment as chairman. A bit odd maybe. His statement the next day did refer to his fellow directors although he did say in his statement that he will not be chief executive officer. I see also that the new director appointments are not officially registered at Companies House yet although that may just be a form-filling delay. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/SC149117/filing-history
  36. I'm not particularly happy with the price either, but I WILL renew (at a 10% 'early bird' discount') as I support the club & want to do my bit to help them out & get back to the premiership asap! I have never managed to make it to all the home games, due to being a shift worker - I would probably be cheaper in the long run paying per game. I usually get to, roughly, 60% of the home games. But I will support the club through thick & thin, whatever happens. Some acknowledgement from the board re recent bad decisions would have been good - a 'mea culpa' statement! However, I can totally understand that fans aren't happy & imho I would rather have seen a reduction to try & boost the sales. Also, extending the free season tickets to U16 would have been a smart move...
  37. The statement is terribly written as well, a single throwaway line about why the prices are staying the same. Every time the club put any sort of statement out there's something off or annoying about it. From announcing Yogi had left without saying he'd left, to that farce about the "routine board meeting". I don't know who is writing these but they have no idea about communicating clearly and honestly.
  38. I too am horrified at the lack of consideration by the Board in setting these prices. What a cheek they have asking for Premier League season ticket prices to watch a lower league product. This is nothing to do with fans loyalty and lots to do with the Board's total disregard for the paying public. They fail completely to understand that fans do not have a endless supply of funds to allocate to their Saturday fix. I have now decided to give up one of my two tickets which I have held since the stadium opened, and was effectively a donation. No manager, no team, no football presence on the Board and a crass statement accompanying the price sheet does not equate to a rush to buy tickets.
  39. The whole announcement of season ticket prices is shambolic. Why would I pay the same price to see us draw with Queen of the South as I did to watch us do the same to Celtic? The club already recognises the value of the "bigger and better" teams by raising prices for tickets for these games. If you could be sure that the money would go on improving the playing staff, this might be reasonable. At the back of my mind is the sneaking suspicion that we might just be bankrolling Richie's pay-off! As for the suggestion that there will be 5% off tickets for 2018/19 on the occasion of our promotion back up where we belong - well the cynical might guess the prices would go up by at least 5% anyway. And if we are not promoted, will we get money off for sticking with them through another lean year? I don't think so. As always, the fans are the least considered part of football in this country.
  40. Nothing to do with being progressive and forward looking, everything to do with a benefactor funding their losses of around £1.5m a year.
  41. The board has already made big calls post-relegation that weren't guaranteed but were being demanded by many fans (Richie, Kenny both out). It's easy to criticise from the outside, not so easy to lead while on the inside. Playing staff and general staff budgets need sorted for next year. I'm not going to help breed uncertainty by artificially delaying my money no matter how relatively little it is on its own.
  42. 1 point
No idea where they get these rumours from. Highly placed secretive sources IMO.
  43. ...and why didn't he have a travel insurance policy which would refund him if he cancelled because of suddenly becoming chairman of a football club?
  44. 1 point
Exactly. Even this season in the Premier I came up and got tickets at short notice. Even for County and Rangers I could easily sit next to my mates although I wasn't in the allocated seat. Apart from Celtic and Aberdeen the stand is barely half full. Let's be honest, next season we won't even remotely have that problem. If we get a sell-out game in the Cup surely the club has the facility to allocate a ticket to a voucher holder who rings up. I would gladly pay for a 5 or 10 game voucher as the days of me coming up using a season ticket are gone, for various reasons. So the club has lost my £300 but would at least get more of it back than it currently does.
  45. 1 point
New contender...Footy McFootface... Not sure I want an experienced jobber, we've usually gone for younger, ambitious managers & it has, by & large, worked (apart from recently, of course). Said before, but surely experience, whilst still important, is slightly less relevant now if we appint well with the GM/D of F post? A long in the tooth gaffer (such as Jim Duffy - who I think is a decent manager), would he want to work with a setup like that?
  46. 1 point
Agree with this idea however, depending on how it is implemented, it potentially means taking a seat out of use for an entire season just in case someone decides to show up every now and then. The club won't know if they can sell it on the off chance there is a high demand for tickets. I guess the obvious thing to do, and I'm sure you would have said this anyway, is to offer these tickets without the guarantee of a particular seat and you just take whatever is available on the day? A bit like the super cheap advance tickets on the Scotrail trains.
  47. And another thing, since Broussard Dortmund parted ways with their manager, after a generally successful season, their CEO issued an 'open-letter' explaining the reasons for this...we have a new chairman and have heard what from him? A 2 line sentence explaining Richie is no longer manager. We're pretty rubbish at the whole communication thing.
  48. Whatever the story it seems a poor way to treat a long serving player
  49. 1 point
I would rather have Bamber Gascoigne !

    Paul Gascoigne? Good Lord.
