  1. For seventy minutes we played well and with great intensity, good to watch and looking far the better team, seventy five minutes in and we started looking tired and slightly content, lack of full fitness or was it the walking wounded syndrome ? County put in some horrendous tackles and got away with most of them. Polworth, Tremarco, Donaldson, Walsh, Doran key men, all were suffering but gave their all for the Team. County were outplayed and if it wasn't for Fox in goal we would have deflated them and finished with a high scoring win. Full marks to Ridgers too, some very fine saves and excellent distribution, setting up attacks that should have resulted in goals but the fine tuning of our attack just wasn't always there. It is a big ask to be ready for the replay, so many knocks to recover from and the frustration of yet another draw to get out of our heads. First thing the Board should do now is invite the Drummer and his chorus to free seats at the replay. What a performance they put up creating a fitting atmosphere for what was mostly a very enjoyable football match.
  2. Little point in me saying it, but I thought White's inability to hold the ball up meant it kept coming back at us sooner rather than later. I thought we should have won the game and fail to see all this doom and gloom that everyone is proclaiming. That should all have been left at the Partick game where we were shocking. I'm not disappointed, more frustrated at another late concession, but once Coll went off we were up against it. Great performance from Tommy Tremarco, if we had more with his guts we would be in the next round. Still all to play for and the incentive of going to Tannadice in the next round. Lighten up folks, ffs.
  3. Have to say thought White was excellent last night and creates space for Doran and Walsh. However These two players need to play the bigman in at least a couple of times last night, as while at game was listening to radio Scotland coverage Willie Miller said that Walsh lacked composure when he lashed ball over bar ,if he had looked up and squared it to White it was a tap in. He said White as at back post screaming for it. Also commentator said he had very little service all night. The bigman puts in some shift and is constantly helping going back to help out the defence every corner and free kick. Something that seems overlooked by some fans. Really can’t understand the constant negativity he gets from some on here and on social media. Thought Ridgers Tremarco were excellent all night but in all honesty probably cost us the game by being worried about the potential offside decision instead of being professional and playing to the whistle. Last night was a battle and we as a team gave as much as we got but probably a draw was Adair result overall but was totally gutted when that late goal went in. Listened to Michael Stewart when returned home and agree with his summing up , Inverness are very good in attacking sense but leave themselves wide open in defence. On to next Tuesday now and hopefully our first win over County for a while.
  4. Really enjoyed that and, but for their keeper, we would have won it by a goal or two. Mind you, Ridgers had a good game too, but MOM without a doubt was Tremarco. I was actually at Oxford Utd v Sunderland last Saturday. I have a pal who is a Sunderland fan and Oxford is as close as they get these days to where we live in Berks. There is often a lot of talk down here about how poor Scottish football is, but tonight's game was far superior to Saturday's in every aspect. OK it was only EL1 but Sunderland are not that long out of the English Premiership! So well done to both sides tonight for trying to play football, and certainly giving both sets of fans some excitement. Pity we couldn't hold on for a deserved win, but all to play for in the replay next week, and Dundee Utd in next round must give us a good chance of advancement. Onwards and upwards!
  5. 100% agree Gregor. I thought Jordan worked hard last night and deserves credit. A mistake cost us, as TJ says if we’d won there would be little negatives. I’m off to Dunfermline this weekend, tickets bought for Tuesday. Great if we could recreate the atmosphere from last night and stop the feckin negative bile which seems to spew forth here from time to time. ??
  6. Should also have said that even if we had won last night, I think there would still have been negativity towards the team, especially some players. I really do think this forum has become a whinging for many posters.
  7. Oh my, we're getting awful hard to please. We are Caley Thistle, not Barcelona. Some of these guys might be shite, but they are our shite. Instead of the constant negativity, how about we just support the team.
  8. Cup of Cheer In a pulsating Cup derby Aaron Doran put the visitors ahead with a fantastic goal after thirteen minutes, firing home from range. It remained that way at the interval but substitute Ross Stewart pulled the tie level soon after coming on. Brad McKay lashed Inverness ahead but Josh Mullin squared it in time added on to send this tie to a replay on Tuesday 19th February. The draw took place after this game and here are the fixtures. Aberdeen v Rangers/Kilmarnock Dundee United v Inverness /Ross County Partick Thistle v Hearts Hibs v Celtic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Inverness boss John Robertson sprang a handful of surprises by giving starts to recent injury victims Mark Ridgers, Tom Walsh, Coll Donaldson, Carl Tremarco and Aaron Doran. Jordan White would spearhead the attack. Shaun Rooney made the bench along with Nathan Austin, and Darren McCauley. County's former Inverness players Billy Mckay and Ross Draper started for County along with Kenny Van Der Weg. The effervescent Michael Gardyne would be the provider with Brian Graham the target man. Josh Mullin and Declan McManus were on the bench. A cagey opening few minutes as both sides jockeyed for position was ended when Billy Mckay dipped an angled volley over the bar after five minutes. Inverness responded by winning a corner but the ball to the back post produced nothing and Michael Gardyne looked to be the danger man for the hosts as he forced a corner at the other end after a good run forward. Jamie Lindsay drilled a deep cross wide of the target from the corner. A bit of a midfield battle ensued as the sides struggled to get to grips with the game and Liam Polworth won a free kick as Van Der Weg handled on the edge of the box. Joe Chalmers forced Fox into an excellent save as he curled low to the near post, however the visitors kept the ball around the County box, and when Aaron Doran latched onto a headed pass forward from Tremarco some 25 yards out. He turned and whipped a vicious half volley low behind the outstretched Fox for a superb opening goal. Gardyne broke into the box after 25 minutes but his shot was blocked at the expense of a corner. Gardyne took it himself but Mark Ridgers came out to gather the cross confidently. Gardyne was at it again and his floated cross caused problems but was turned behind for a corner which Ridgers gathered again. It was Gardyne against Ridgers now and Mark turned a stabbed effort behind for a corner, diving low to his right. Inverness broke forward and Tom Walsh almost emulated Doran's strike but Fox made a brilliant diving save to deny Walsh a second Inverness goal. County were racking up the corners after a Brian Graham shot was deflected wide but again it came to nothing better than a free kick for the visitors. A ball forward saw Fox have to block from Tom Walsh as the Inverness wide player sped into the box and flicked the ball goalwards. A few moments later Walsh saw an effort deflected for a corner as the Caley Jags pressed for a second goal before the break. Yet another great break forward by Doran who fed Brad McKay but the wing back saw his cross cut out for a corner. As Inverness gathered momentum once more, the first half drew to a close with the visitors on top. Half Time 0-1 There were no changes at the interval and County would be playing towards the Jailend after the break, and that usually inspires them to greater things. Scott Fox had to make an unorthodox stop to deny a piledriver from Carl Tremarco, the keeper eventually keeping the ball out with his knees as the ball fizzed goalwards. Great effort from Tommy. Ross Stewart replaced the ineffective Brian Graham and within a couple of minutes he drew County level after some untidy midfield play saw Gardyne drive the ball into the box where Stewart volleyed home. Doran spurned a glorious chance to put Inverness back in front but he mistimed his header and sent it wide when he should have hit the target. It was end to end stuff now in typical derby cup-tie fashion. Liam Polworth flashed a powerful shot towards the County goal that was head deflected for a corner. From the resultant corner Brad McKay found the ball at his feet a few yards out and he smashed it high into the net. Walsh broke down the left but his shot was a bit ambitious and it went well wide. County won a free kick just outside the box after Chalmers upended the dangerous Gardyne, but after the shot was blocked County were penalised and the danger was over. Carl Tremarco was having a magnificent game at the back and was putting his body on the line time and time again as County threw balls into the box, but the wee man stood firm. Substitution for Inverness as Doran was replaced by former Coleraine player Darren McCauley as Ridgers mopped up another ball into the box. Almost a chance to get a third as a ball is flicked into the six yard box but it runs through to Fox. And as the rain started to fall a mistake at the back by County let Walsh speed forward. He lashed a shot to the top corner but Fox pulled off another great save to deny the Inverness man. Shaun Rooney had replaced the injured Coll Donaldson by now and we re-jigged at the back with Brad moving inside. A loose ball some 30 yards out found Chalmers but it was wasted and McManus wasted an effort at the other end. They would not be denied though as our defence parted and Substitute Josh Mullin squeezed the ball through the exposed Ridgers in time added on. A dangerous free kick by County was wasted as they looked to get ahead in added time with Inverness now hanging on a tad, but the late comeback by County was just enough to earn the Dingwall side a replay as time ran out. Inverness were best served by Aaron Doran, Tom Walsh, Coll Donaldson and Jamie McCart, but none better than Carl Tremarco. The biased Bill Dodds gave the TV MotM to Michael Gardyne who was undoubtedly County's most influential player. Another frustrating night for Inverness who have held the upper hand in all four derby's this season with little to show for it. On BBC Sport:- Inverness CT manager John Robertson: "It's just about being street-smart. They stopped. "You just keep defending but they've let Josh Mullin through and he's scored. That sums up our season. We've been in the lead and given away a goal at the end. We now have a replay to play so we'll just get on with it. "We felt we were getting close to that third goal which would have finished the game off. We didn't see where their goal was going to come from. That's the difference. That's why we're fourth in the league and County are top." Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson: "We always felt there would be one more chance in the game. Josh is well onside and does great to finish it. "The players never know when they're beaten. Sometimes it's not pretty and you have to put your shoulder to the wheel and the players deserve all the credit for that. "I don't think either us would have wanted a replay. We're delighted we're still in the hat." Robbo after the event.............. 9. 100 % agree with you on this love the quote they are our ***** ? Would just love just love it if our ***** could knock County ***** out of the cup as the man says let’s get behind next week ???
  10. Spot on tm4j. I am astonished though not surprised at some of the criticism and negativity after last night's game. Had it been us scoring the late equaliser, I doubt there would be so much negativity. This is not the best team we have ever had but it is not the worst either. One mistake last night cost us and it is systematic of our season that every mistake we make costs us big time. The players gave their all last night but for many that isn't good enough. Some have blamed the board for falling attendances but perhaps the constant negativity on this forum also plays a part. Maybe we have got the team we deserve.
  11. Dorans all round game last night was first class excellent going forward and tracking back. Him and Walsh are the guys we need to get on the ball. Also thought McCart had another good game, reads the game well.
  12. i thought that Gardyne tore apart Brad Mckay at right back, although he scored yesterday i still think that he is such a liability. Hearts didn't want him, St Johnstone didn't want him, and now we are stuck with him.
  13. Unfortunately not as we have misplaced our recipe book. Think it must have inadvertently been thrown out with our hairdressing manual Fifty Shades of Blue Rinse. However we will have a selection of hot savoury pies courtesy of Hastie and Dyce. ??
  14. I thought I might feel a bit less angry about the end of that game after I'd slept on it. Nope, turns out I'm just as angry. We've led in sixteen of our last twenty-seven games - and held onto that lead in just eight. That's a dreadful record, and even more so because it's the same pattern again and again. We sit deeper and deeper, we look nervous in possession, we make bad decisions, and we give away goals through individual errors. Some of it - Chalmers' idiotic shot from distance in the 90th minute when he had an easy pass on - is either players being panicky or just plain thick. This isn't a team of kids; they really should be capable of keeping their heads under pressure. Other bits such as the substitutions are a coaching issue. Either accept you're under siege and bring on a defender (McHattie at LB with Tremarco going more central) to deal with it properly, or bring on a player with fresh legs who will at least cover a lot of ground, chase the ball and maybe offer a counterattack threat (Austin or MacGregor). For the love of god, don't bring on a central midfielder with the turning circle of a bus who neither protects the defence nor offers any quality in possession. It does us no favours at all. And yet every bloody time Robbo seems to think bringing Trafford on will protect our lead. What's did Einstein claim the definition of insanity was again? I didn't think we were all that great last night, but we were much better than County. The problem is that I can't see County being that lousy next week, whereas it's very easy to see us being our own worst enemy yet again.
  15. If we're playing with a similar budget and standard of player than Morton or QoS, then our past achievements don't give us any advantage. They might even be a disadvantage if fans fail to accept the new reality.
  16. I'd be having a go at them if I thought they weren't giving it everything, but I really don't think that's an issue with this team.

Past his best, but looked ok on Monday night. Brad...choose better footwear.
  18. I'm afraid he made Gardyne look half decent.
  19. Brad's goal last night is the only good thing he has done all season he is such a liability but will never have a spell on the bench why is that ? answers on a postcard MOM without a doubt Doran he just loves a goal against County ?
  20. If you listened to JR's post match interview you would have heard him say that we should have seen the game out, should have made a side ward pass that even if it had of went out the park would have been better than trying to play forward and lose the ball resulting in the goal. JR got his tactics spot on last night in my opinion, apart from one or two of his late substitutions, and certainly in the first half we were well in control, extra man in midfield compared to County and we had the game in our hands. First half I though we were excellent and for the part in the second half we played well but got leggy which ultimately caused them to equalise. Even if we hadn't tried to play offside/claim offside I believe we still would've been caught out by pace from that ball, yes the defending was poor but ultimately a stupid pass further up the field caused it. I agree we need to play the game out smarter, that's not from the lack of tactics from the manager but more a lack of intelligence from the players and possibly a lack of belief. There's no way JR talks that way after a game but doesn't impact it on his players, he was as frustrated as the rest of us. We should always play to our strengths and if that means continuing to push on and press but with a slightly deeper back line then so be it but we cannot control a game from halfway inside our own half, we don't have a player that can do it.
  21. This topic has been done to death but there was and still is a lot more going on behind the scenes to simply say ‘yogi wasted all the money’...... fact is, we are, where we are now. There are far more pressing problems now than worrying about things that happened 3 years ago.
  22. Disappointed with the result but not surprised ?
  23. We have squandered more leads this season and gone on to lose or draw more often than any other senior team in the United Kingdom. We are, more often than not, good enough to take the lead against almost anyone. However, until we become astute enough to hold onto those leads we will make no progress whatsoever.. Every single fan can see where we are going wrong. Time to get it sorted while we still have a chance of promotion and making progress in the cup.

It’s customary for event organisers to book the entertainment well in advance!
  26. Seemed to me that having the extra man in midfield was a masterstroke by Robbo because County were not getting service to Gardyne or McKay. Is that something new or does he do that in all games because, if not, then he certainly should because it worked at least for 45 minutes. For me, Tremarco was man of the match because he was excellent tonight, Ridgers handling was great plus he made a great save just before half time. I just wish we could hold on to a bloody lead because it's becoming ridiculous now!
  27. Again we should have won but didn't. As was highlighted by their management team county do not give up and keep looking for something to happen so fair play to them. We were not smart at the end as we only had to keep ball in their half for a couple of minutes at the end. Nothing Robbo could have done then the players know it was an opportunity missed. Please can we finally beat them next week and crack on.
  28. Has Donaldson burst his groin by coming back too soon? Looked a bit off the pace initially , played on through pain too long.
  29. Just knew they were going to equalise...….ended up hanging on An old ICT characteristic : grab a lead and then invite the opposition onto them. Have lost count of the number of times we have taken the lead this season and then been pulled back. Good draw : let's hope we can win the replay. The Arabs are no great shakes and a semi final at Hampden would be at worst good for the coffers.
  30. Defence looked worse once Col went off and McKay went to centre half, was always a case of trying to hang on after that enforced change. Cant believe we don’t have the guile and savvy to see a game out, not a bunch of kids we have playing.
  31. Sadly, taking out league form into the cup in that regard. The positives are that, for the fourth time this season, we matched our wealthier neighbours and are still in the cup with a winnable quarter final in prospect if we prevail. However, in order for that to be a realistic prospect, Robbo has to realise at long last that we are not good enough to defend a lead no matter how many defensive substitutions he makes. The only way for us to defend a lead is to continue to do what earned us the lead in the first place.
  32. We were on the ropes for a while before we scored the 2nd, looking leggy while county still had plenty of running. Are we fit enough to last 90 minutes these days??
  33. Willie Miller quote : Caley Thistle had the game won but there was no sign of a defensive performance in the last 10 minutes to hold on to that lead. And they were caught out.
  34. What on earth was our back 4 doing farting about on the half way line in injury time? Terrible defending. I'd imagine Chalmers will also be getting an earful for wasting possession just before that with a ridiculous pot shot from 30 yards.
  35. A replay is the last thing we need.
  36. I was going to go for Tremarco but I will give it to Michael Gardyne who did feck all in the second half. REPLAY ? BBC Dingwall NEXT FECKIN MONDAY !!
  37. I just think the stars colided and we had as good a team as anyone at that time. No doubt it was Butchers team but Yogi improved them.Yogi was a superb coach but maybe not as good a manager ie in recruitment. I agree with Fraz here. It all went pear shaped when we didnt let him go to United and sadly was only going to have one ending with his eventual departure.
  38. What are you havering about? we beat Sevco 3-0 on their own midden in the league cup and hearts, you can only beat what is in front of you we finished 3rd only Celtic and Aberdeen were more consistent, clubs with massively greater budgets so don't rubbish the club's achievements. Oh I nearly forgot,we also won a cup that year beating the top team on the way.
  39. Hughes was possibly the most successful manager (depends how you view winning a cup against winning a league over the course of a season). Not sure the majority would say hs is our best manager. He was fortunate to inherit a team built by Butcher with a few gems from the youth ranks. He then bullied the board into loosening wages in contracts and to bring in a raft of poor players at significant cost. Whilst the year under Foran put the nail in the coffin, the rot very much started on his watch in spite of being blessed witht the best playing budget of any of our previous managers.
  40. Simple answer is improve the quality on the pitch, it's not rocket science. There will always be a hard core element of fans who'll go no matter what, then you get the element who on the whole will go if they haven't got anything else planned then you have the rest who will go when the team plays well. Happens at every club in proportion and will always continue that way. I fall into the middle category where life dictates when I can go and this season has slipped away from me but I'd love to go to more. No amount of match day entertainment or better facilities will change that for me and I believe that the increased costs involved for putting on this type of activity outweighs the benefits through the turnstile.
  41. I reckon its snowflakes like elginer that are driving people away.
  42. At the moment I think that I would appreciate entertaining and attractive cheerleaders more.
