Just when you think those running the club can't sink any lower, they do manage to find new depths to go. Regardless of that, I am still an ICT supporter, proud or otherwise. On the one hand I am beyond Derek Adams level seething with our current board and the CEO who are NOT ICT, or certainly not the ICT I want to be associated with. These people will be held accountable for their actions (or inactions) and history will quite correctly not be kind to them. BUT ... WE are ICT. The players, the fans, the city and I still say I am proud to be ICT when I stand next to all of those people who DO make me proud. These are the people who contributed to Aaron's fund, just like most here, or who have been outraged at the treatment meted out to him and others, who have raised questions about our missing manager or who have shown passion and eloquence on the podcast. Every one of us is ICT and that's the ICT community I am proud of still. I am extremely transparent in my thoughts on our current board, elected to, but doing a piss poor job of stewarding our club. I would not and will not raise my hand, in person or via proxy, at any future shareholders meeting to re-elect any of them. With each passing day, and each new comment, it becomes harder in my own mind to accept even those who I thought I would be comfortable with remaining... Also, in another thread where I said we would restart sponsorship, I said it would not happen until the CEO has departed. Rumours online that this could be up to another 6 months... so that would mean we don't do it for 6 months. Its not rocket science, its simple. No effort to commit to any financial obligation, be that sponsorship, merchandise, or anything else until the keys are handed back and the door has closed on him for the last time. In my opinion, he is not to blame for every single thing that ails the club but is one of several lightning rods that need addressed. I would also - as a shareholder - like to know what the notice period for our CEO is as it is clearly a factor in people holding back personal or group investment in the club. I also have fears about the lack of accounts being posted which in some ways worry me more ... is this the sting in the tail just before the season begins? So to reiterate and confirm my last post: I AM proud to be an ICT supporter because it means i can stand with and mingle with people like our supporters and others in our team's COMMUNITY. The ineptitude, inefficiency and seemingly utter disregard for our club from those who should be speaking now will not deter me from that. THEY are not the club. WE are the club, whether we have been here for 30 minutes or 30 years.9 points

Knows 10 times more than the board- likely. Rangers Commercial sales manager, Tottenham Hotspur FC Commercial manager and Acting commercial director , Dundee CEO, Hearts COO. The problem is that he wasn't actually competent in these roles. In his second and last year at Dundee, he messed up the shirt sponsorship with no fewer than four potential firms (allegedly) -. It's telling he was 'restructured' out of the club on June 29th 2014 when a week later, July 7 2014, Dundee announced their quite ludicrous new shirt sponsor - 'Hangar Records' - set up less than two years before, dormant, and which never had more than a couple of hundred quid to its name ...which was registered to the son of the chairman. Scot had worked his 'magic' on other sponsors so that's all they could find to save face for less than a year... Dundee non-statement (egg on face) led to a job at Hearts. He was binned again at Hearts because there were no seats ordered for their £14m new stand! That led to them having to play at Murrayfield until the seats arrived- and another exit. Widely reported as a debacle of his doing ! I'll skip over the connection that brought him to the ex ex Chairman's attention while attending games in Inverness as a Rangers Spurs ICT 'fan'... Ultimately, Scot has been out of depth at every club, costing them money and embarrassing them. With ICT: From Daily Record about ICT late 2019: "Administration? Not a chance", he insists... “Our crowds won’t get to 10,000 but I’ll run us correctly. We won’t lose money, we’ll make it " "Take it from me, it’ll be like the tortoise and the hare – Inverness Caley Thistle will win the league" From P&J late 2019: If you were in power in government, what would you change? "I would also invest much more in areas like the Highlands and islands (Kelty??), as they don’t benefit from many of the initiatives enjoyed by more populated metropolises." What do you still hope to achieve? "In the short term, I want to make Inverness Caley Thistle FC financially sound and a pillar of Inverness and the surrounding area – and to get the team back into the Scottish Premiership for good" From Courier Sep 2023: Scot Gardiner says Duncan Ferguson was always Inverness Caledonian Thistle's top target to take over as manager – so much so that they cut the interview process short to appoint him Gardiner confirmed that it was ICT that initially approached Ferguson – whose only permanent previous managerial experience was a short-lived spell at Forest Green Rovers – rather than the other way around This is why the thought of him dealing with any interested investors is such a ludicrous proposition by Graeme/board. He is no CEO, never has been, the board have been taken in for years, and now is negotiating the future? Madness.7 points

[previous acts of folly, Y. Crook, etc., not included] Acts of Pure Folly by the Board 1 the 'Magnificent 7' board was in fact only Ross but in complete thrall to Scot Gardiner (result: no goodbye for Liam, Kelty, Statkraft, Concert Company, Ferguson, insolvency practitioner etc etc etc). Act of Pure Folly by the Board 2 after act 1, allowing the club, post-relegation and post-insolvency practitioner advice, to be 'led' by a hugely discredited and ill-reputed staff member, working resignation It is this second act of pure folly that has led to the discombobulating situation where Hall of Famers leave the club without even a perfunctory, cursory acknowledgement (never mind the medical care or testimonial). Act of Pure Folly by the Board 3 On 06 June, a director - 'Mr Bennett' - broke ranks/silence to say the board had issued a "cry for help" / "war cry". The Courier said: In an exclusive interview with The Inverness Courier, club stalwart Mr Bennett confirmed how despite Scot Gardiner resigning as chief executive he is leading the drive to find new investments or a new owner. Yet another act of pure folly. Why would/How could the board - such as it is - leave the fate of the club's future to the Chief Architect of its downfall? This is the time for the board to right the wrong(s), take on the lead of negotiations with interested parties - whatever they may be - and advocate among themselves for the best outcome for the club, regardless of self-interest. Goodness knows there's baggage, but no supporter of the club - past, present or future - or regular staff member - got the club into this sorry position. It's not the time to be self-serving: legacy and integrity go hand in hand.6 points

Who would honestly believe a word that comes from the club at the minute? I certainly don't and the only time they pipe up is to demand cash. If folk are happy with the statement the other day and are now content to part with their cash good on them but I won't be giving them anything. I am appalled at the way they have treated players and fans for a significant period of time. They deserve nothing but contempt in my view.4 points

Been saying for years he's a *** tbh. From the Pixalot and Fan's Forum debacle it was clear he was useless and didn't want any fan engagement whatsoever. I emailed him after 'bald linesman gate' outlining a bunch of suggestions to improve the offering and the awful commentary. No acknowledgement at all. Emailed re the fans forum, same effect, emailed re family events no reply, emailed re kids Christmas parties, guess what? Only in the last few months have I ever had any kind of reply from Scott Young on the SLO email. Hell, fans of various clubs were laughing at us and saying we'd made a massive mistake as he was utterly incompetent wherever he has been (similar to Ferguson). We are generally such a passive support though and even if we spoke up, what avenue would we have? Gardiner set it up so that absolutely everything had to go through him, had no SLO and no present board. Even if we got through to the board they seemed to be besotted by Gardiner for some utterly baffling reason.3 points

Oh dear, I’ve probably given Gardiner the idea of a Status Quo concert at the stadium!3 points

Aaron getting his P45 by email all leads back to Gardiner. I said it when he resigned and I will reiterate it now - every moment he remains in the club further damage is being done. I was going to buy a new shirt, I'm still waiting to decide if I can be arsed with a season ticket, but I am not going to now. Until Gardiner is completely out of the club I will not support the club. I am actually embarrassed, and I don't use that word lightly, embarrassed to call myself an ICT supporter. I wonder how many more feel this way? If anyone is reading this from the Board, GET RID OF GARDINER NOW!3 points
-
Although the situation has arisen from a very dark place, being able to contribute in a small way towards providing Aaron with the operation that he needed, has helped me, and hopefully others too, to believe that we are just as good (if not better) than many fans of other clubs around Scotland. Thanks to Shane for giving us a chance to feel good about ourselves. Never for a minute be fooled into thinking that we, the fans, are in any way responsible for the state our club is now in. We all know where the blame lies.3 points
-
That and a lot more, I fear. Firstly, as regards the dreadful way Aaron has been treated, receiving the P45 by email is probably the least of the issues if this is now the normal way of delivering that document. Of far more concern is the completely disrespectful treatment of a player who, as far as I can recollect, is the club’s second longest serving ever after Ross Tokely. Surely anyone with the tiniest sense of decency would have had a face to face meeting with Aaron and if no contract extension was likely, he should have been sincerely and very publicly thanked for his considerable services. The complete set of circumstances there beggar belief and indeed there must be a big concern that this will be a further disincentive to potential future signings. But what about other areas that this - and indeed the multiplicity of other PR own goals afflicting the club - are bound to affect adversely? For instance, given what the club’s reputation has now descended to, how many businesses are likely, as sponsors and advertisers, to want to have their names associated with what the ICT brand has now become…. especially when there are three other senior clubs within 15 miles of Inverness? Similarly, how many parents might feel deterred from sending their kids to ICT when there are these other, more wholesome looking clubs also in the market for young players? Supporters? For people new to the area looking for a club to go and watch, how attractive is a club that tried to abandon Inverness, is on the point of bankruptcy treats its employees with disdain and says nothing? And even existing ICT supporters - how many of them now feel inclined to go elsewhere? The club’s financial crisis has been existential enough, but to what extent has its future also been mortally wounded by extreme public relations gaffes and a seriously self-tarnished image?3 points

Totally agree with your post. Isn’t the Manager supposed to manage ????? Given the money he was and is on, the absolute minimum you would expect. He is NOT the right manager for this Club.!!!!2 points
-
OK, So it's the shareholders that in effect own the club, They decide who should be on the board and run the company on their behalf? They should really shoulder some blame in the way the club hires and who runs the football club? If i was a major shareholder I'd be really feckin annoyed at what was happening to my club that's for sure.2 points

Agree with everything you say there but where is the Manager in all this ? No loyalty to his player there i am still hoping he walks as the thought of another season of that football fills me with dread2 points

Has any board member done any good in the last month ? Very surprised one of them at least has not broken ranks . Or does the CEO have something on the board . Very suspicious how an extremely unpopular /hated member of staff is left in control when he is the main problem at our club . Something very bad stinks about all this . Why is Grassa allowing this ?2 points
-
Well put, as usual. I think the problem for the current board is a deficiency in skills that leaves them still reliant on a CEO who, like it or not, knows 10 times more about running a football club than all of the directors added together. Until the rescue deal gets over the line, the club can’t really appoint new directors or appoint a new CEO/General Manager, so maybe they feel a bit stuck, trying to make do with what they have. Regarding the skill set of the board, something I don’t see mentioned anywhere in the published profiles is a background in finance or accounting, which is something I think is beneficial for any business and which usually helps ensure good governance and financial prudence.2 points

I feel the same Lizi. I am so embarrassed. I will not don a shirt or even look out for a result until he is gone. I, at this moment in time, no longer support this club. I would rather lend my support to Clach. Once Gardiner is gone things may change but I will need to see it happening before they get a single penny from me. I used to do a 1000 mile round trip for home games, I wouldn't cross the street for the club at the moment. Question is: How much more do we have to endure?2 points
-
Given Aaron getting his P45 by email - this hasn't aged well. All of us should be EMBARRASSED - We all need to get vocal and let it be known that the club will not get any support at games until Gardiner is banned from entering the stadium and he MUST be gone all together. Why keep him around when he keeps damaging what little credibility the club has left? I for one, will not support this club again until he has gone completely.2 points

I should think it would be up to the manager to decide who he wants to keep, and I expect he should be speaking to them face to face instead of sending an email! Maybe Ferguson has been replaced with an AI manager, in Gardiner's last 'big idea' to save the club!!2 points
-
Had his P45 e mailed to him before he had his op. ICTFC needs a fecking good clear out at board room/ managerial level going forward. Disgraceful behaviour towards such a brilliant club servant.2 points

I am sorry but I find it truly disgusting that Aaron, who has been with the club for 14 years, may have to fund his own operation because the club has cancelled the insurance it had to cover such eventualities. He hasn’t even had his testimonial match. Have the Board no shame? Just when I think the club can’t go any lower in my estimation. The club might be in financial difficulties but surely our successful directors have a conscience and a sense of moral duty towards a long time player who was injured on the playing field.1 point

You counter your own point!!! What’s the point in telling the Trust, if they dont inform the fan base they claim to represent.? What special right do they have???? They claim to represent the fans , so what they know, the wider fan base should know. If the Trust fears need to be “allayed” as you claim, then as they represent the fans…… all need to know. Nature of the beast I’m afraid !!!!1 point

Great to see the message board so active again, but where have all these sensible, engaged and knowledgeable supporters been all these years, while SG was ripping the pish out of the club and the daft teuchters he took the fans to be?1 point

It's over a week since we were informed of "hugely positive discussions" and it's less than a week till our first friendly. Yet this last week has provided absolutely no update on how the discussions are progressing, whether we actually have any players beyond the few who were on contracts beyond the end of the 23/4 season. It simply beggars belief that when the club has been so strongly criticised by so many for their appalling errors and lack of communication, that their response is simply to be even worse. It would suggest that the discussions weren't so positive after all. Please, please, please, can somebody tell us what is going on?1 point

Gardiner is experienced in football management but according to his Linkedin profile his formal education was only at Craigie High School. He does not state that he is professionally qualified in terms of Company Law or Accounting but that does not mean he is not. It is not clear what Morrison's formal professional qualifications are. A key person at the football club would have been Ian MacDonald, their Company Secretary, but he resigned on 26 April 2023. Companies House, however, was not notified of the termination until 10 January 2024. Therefore it is likely that professional advice since 27 April 2023 was outsourced, possibly to A9 Accountancy Ltd. Legal or Company Secretarial advice was probably from a separate source. One can see that the Accounts for year ended 31 May 2022 were submitted to Companies House on 28 February 2023. The Accounts were compiled by A9 Accountancy Ltd, Inverness. Described as Independent, Paul Capewell from A9, gave an unqualified statement as Auditor that the Directors considered the business to be a going concern until 31 May 2023 i.e. for the next 12 months after the previous accounts. The current remaining directors therefore got themselves between a rock and a hard place until we hear otherwise. On a separate matter Companies House state that INVERNESS CALEY THISTLE CONCERT COMPANY LIMITED is due to be dissolved on 27th June 2024.1 point

The BBC page is now running a story based on Doran’s comments. Yet more bad publicity for us. The only hope is that this, along with all the other bad stuff recently, was a failure of the discredited, outgoing regime and that when the rescue deal completes we will see a transformation in the way the club communicates with players and fans.1 point

Shameful It has come to light in the aftermath of the disrespectful treatment of a Club Legend that all is not well behind the scenes at the Caley Jags. It took another former player Shane Sutherland to highlight the plight of a great servant to the Caley Jags when he opened up a Go Fund Me page to support Aaron Doran who it appears had been let down by the very club he gave his all to for nearly fourteen years. Unfortunately Aaron had suffered a few career threatening injuries whilst playing for Inverness and that somewhat curtailed his appearances. Nonetheless, he still made 392 or 393 appearances for the club right up until he was seriously injured in a televised game at the Caledonian Stadium against Raith Rovers, twenty minutes in, and our third last game of the regular 2023-2024 season. Full Name: Aaron Brian Doran Cogan Born: May 13th, 1991 (Charleville, County Cork, Ireland) Height: 5' 7 Position: Winger Signed: January 25th, 2011 First Manager: Terry Butcher Left Club: June 10th, 2024 Career Stats: 392 appearances, 57 goals (we might have lost a game somewhere) Debut (as sub): January 26th, 2011 - Inverness CT 0 - 2 Aberdeen (League) Full Debut: February 5th, 2011 - 5 - 1 Morton (Scottish Cup - Rd 5) First Goal: February 12th, 2011 - St. Mirren 3 - 3 Inverness CT (League) Thanks to Shane Sutherland, the generosity of friends, fans, former colleagues and opponents, Aaron has now had his operation. However it has emerged that he had posted on Instagram regarding his sad dismissal and treatment from the Board of Inverness CT who have treated Aaron in a similar way to which they have been treating the fans. Let's not forget that Aaron was due to have a testimonial for his service to the club. It is the opinion of all on CTO that Aaron deserved better treatment than the silence he and others have been subjected to. We all understand there is a lot going on behind the scenes, but surely a shred of human decency could have been allocated to Aaron to support him better throughout this process. The general malaise emanating from within the Caledonian Stadium is one which many supporters find difficult to comprehend and it will take years to repair the damage being done to the brand right now. It's almost as if the Horizon System has been installed at the Caledonian Stadium over the last nine years. You would think that George Thomson was in charge... Here's a great memory for Aaron recreated by the talented local artist Sophie Robb as he holds the Scottish Cup. A Scottish Cup winner with the Caley Jags, the highlight of his career here. What a sublime pass threaded through to Marley Watkins to open the scoring in the 2-1 win over Falkirk in 2015. We are right behind you Aaron! Another way to help Aaron is through Robbo's fundraiser for his re-hab (that's Aaron's re-hab) The Prize Up for grabs is a really unique piece of Scottish football memorabilia, a Scotland top made for John Robertson with his name on the back. So why is this rare? Squad numbers didn't come into force domestically in Scotland until season 1998/1999 by which time Robbo had left Hearts for Livingston so no domestic jersey ever had his name on the back1 point

Duncan needs to walk now he is NOT welcome back. As a player he was a fighter and a battler there is no doubt but as a manager he is a serial loser and has about as much tactical awareness as a four by two fence post. Dougal1 point

https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/it-is-only-right-that-people-know-the-truth-caley-thistl-316520/ Flashback to a year ago, when Shane Sutherland complained about the manner of his release and the club made a big song and dance about how they not only offered players formal meetings to discuss their release (if they had been at the club for 2 or more years) but also that they required to by employment law; there was even a SPFL template letter to use. So, how are they doing with fulfilling this requirement this time around?1 point

It's easy to blame one person and use Gardiner as a lightning rod but could no-one else involved do something about this? Could the manager not have taken responsibility? Could someone from the board of directors not have phoned him? Graham Bennett must know how important a player Aaron Doran has been to the club, could he not say something? Regarding his operation, Doran even named another director, Panos Thomas, as having fobbed him off with medical advice. It's all well and good saying Gardiner is responsible but Gardiner reports to the board and they are ultimately holding the bag. The whole board is responsible. If the "hugely positive" talks with investors come to something then the entire board of directors should be replaced immediately. A bunch of incompetent, arrogant, puffed up losers.1 point

I never thought the day would come when I would be ashamed of ICT, but I AM so ashamed. And, we all know who looks at fans, and now players, like they are dirt under his shoes. The man is an evil blot on our Club history and I, for one, will never forgive him. If I could I would spit in his eye, I am so furious with him.1 point
-
That’s not the point. He should have been seen and had the situation explained to him about why a new contract was not being offered, and advised that his P45 would follow by e-mail. Thats only common decency. Treat others how you’d want to be treated yourself.1 point

What you say is true but it's not the whole story. Directors putting money in previously have done so to cover losses they were responsible for/willing to cover. They knew they weren't getting it back and it never put to club at risk financially. Other things did in earlier years such as Stadium costs, but people stepped in to remove that risk. Whatever are thoughts on any of them protecting the club was always the priority. Ross Morrison was different insofar as he was putting money in expecting (needing?) to get it back. He is the first Director to put a charge in place to cover loans given. It is those securities which are likely to be the biggest barrier to investment at the moment. If he didn't have the money to burn and nobody else was going to cover losses then he should have been cutting costs and ensuring existing income streams were secure in order to get the club into a financially stable position. Everyone knows what happened instead and it doesn't need going over again. Looking at accounts the club had next to no debt when he took the reins. Now we have at least £300k of non-director debt and at least £1.5 million of secured debt.1 point

I said last night that those making decisions at the club should hang their heads in shame. Today’s news about Aaron simply underlines that. I’m speechless at some of the actions they have taken in recent times. Well done Shane, and it’s great to see the support being given to Aaron. Its so sad that Shane felt the need to make this wonderful gesture. I dread to think what tomorrow’s revelation will be.1 point
