Exactly. A complete reset is needed. None of the board has had the spine to come out and say what's happening. Even if it's only "We are determined to keep Inverness Caledonian Thistle going as a viable and competitive club. Discussions with investors are continuing. We would like to re-sign as many players as possible. The manager is still in place and is using his contacts to search for other players. Mr Gardiner's end-date will be the xxth of xxxx. Legal considerations prevent us from saying more at this time, but we will update you regularly as we move into the new season.". There's no way that a CEO - especially an outgoing one - can tell the board of directors to keep quiet. The buck stops with them. Their jolly is over and they should all go. Reboot as a community-focused local club. Don't over-reach. Learn from and never forget the lessons of the last nine years.9 points

A good statement from Aaron and at least he can look one the positive side. He has been a great servant for the club and good luck to him and his family whatever he does in the future.8 points

14 years with the Club, badly injured playing for the Club, given false promises on operations to repair a serious injury, also due a Testimonial Match I think. Absolutely loyal and dignified human being. Contrast that with Ross Morrison. A very wealthy man. Just before Xmas 2023 he agrees a standard security with the Board over ICT FC assets etc. Then goes on a tirade against Highland Council because the battery farm was the route to pay off debts - clearly he had a BIG interest in this!!! Oversaw some last minute disasters. FORCED to resign by fans. No final dignity. P45s now sent by electronic means but nearly always after a letter of thanks, collections, and farewell drinks or party. Not a good image for a Club which clearly cannot see how damaged the ICT brand is.8 points

That statement from Aaron is a shameful indictment of a club which has completely lost the plot. No humanity, no empathy and no respect for a guy who has been an exemplary professional through some extremely tough times. I am personally ashamed to be associated with a club which would treat a club legend in this manner and would call for a full apology to be issued by the club and confirmation that our CEO's notice period ends today. Utterly disgraceful behaviour.7 points

That and a lot more, I fear. Firstly, as regards the dreadful way Aaron has been treated, receiving the P45 by email is probably the least of the issues if this is now the normal way of delivering that document. Of far more concern is the completely disrespectful treatment of a player who, as far as I can recollect, is the club’s second longest serving ever after Ross Tokely. Surely anyone with the tiniest sense of decency would have had a face to face meeting with Aaron and if no contract extension was likely, he should have been sincerely and very publicly thanked for his considerable services. The complete set of circumstances there beggar belief and indeed there must be a big concern that this will be a further disincentive to potential future signings. But what about other areas that this - and indeed the multiplicity of other PR own goals afflicting the club - are bound to affect adversely? For instance, given what the club’s reputation has now descended to, how many businesses are likely, as sponsors and advertisers, to want to have their names associated with what the ICT brand has now become…. especially when there are three other senior clubs within 15 miles of Inverness? Similarly, how many parents might feel deterred from sending their kids to ICT when there are these other, more wholesome looking clubs also in the market for young players? Supporters? For people new to the area looking for a club to go and watch, how attractive is a club that tried to abandon Inverness, is on the point of bankruptcy treats its employees with disdain and says nothing? And even existing ICT supporters - how many of them now feel inclined to go elsewhere? The club’s financial crisis has been existential enough, but to what extent has its future also been mortally wounded by extreme public relations gaffes and a seriously self-tarnished image?6 points

I will give you a name .... Scott Young He is relatively new to the board and from what I have seen and heard he is more open to fan engagement and enthusiastic about working to right things. He has turned up to the supporters' meetings and generally been positive and as open as allowed to be in terms of interactions or dissemination of information. I have never met him, don't know him, and that's just my impression. Could he have done more recently? perhaps, but as stated above, there are and will be constraints on what can be said publicly or even divulging what's going on behind the scenes. I didn't actually want Ross M to go. He was a fan long before chairman, so IMHO always tried to have the club at heart (hence the money he pumped in). However, he had to go. His biggest mistake - in my opinion - was loyalty for too long to one man and the ceding of day-to-day power to that man. As for the remainder of the board who have condoned the situation we find ourselves in either actively or passively with their silence, and then compounded things with the treatment of Aaron Doran (and others presumably), then root and branch they have to go if the club is to salvage any reputation. A full rebuild with new blood and no bad blood behind the scenes is required.6 points
-
Who would honestly believe a word that comes from the club at the minute? I certainly don't and the only time they pipe up is to demand cash. If folk are happy with the statement the other day and are now content to part with their cash good on them but I won't be giving them anything. I am appalled at the way they have treated players and fans for a significant period of time. They deserve nothing but contempt in my view.6 points
-
It's easy to blame one person and use Gardiner as a lightning rod but could no-one else involved do something about this? Could the manager not have taken responsibility? Could someone from the board of directors not have phoned him? Graham Bennett must know how important a player Aaron Doran has been to the club, could he not say something? Regarding his operation, Doran even named another director, Panos Thomas, as having fobbed him off with medical advice. It's all well and good saying Gardiner is responsible but Gardiner reports to the board and they are ultimately holding the bag. The whole board is responsible. If the "hugely positive" talks with investors come to something then the entire board of directors should be replaced immediately. A bunch of incompetent, arrogant, puffed up losers.6 points
-
That’s not the point. He should have been seen and had the situation explained to him about why a new contract was not being offered, and advised that his P45 would follow by e-mail. Thats only common decency. Treat others how you’d want to be treated yourself.5 points

"If you don’t think all are collectively culpable….." I didn't say I don't think all are collectively culpable! What I said was "but we do know that the Board directors, in line with standard practice, have collective responsibility and accountability". "Put names to it. Who do you think has done a good job and who hasn’t?????" How am I supposed to do that? As I said, "We don't know what is going on behind the scenes." "You say some should stay…… Who?" I didn't say anything of the sort! I said "I'm not sure all the Board need to go - just most of them." Most of them should go because collectively they have got us into this mess. But as we don't know what is going on behind the scenes, how can we know whether or not any individual directors should stay or go? "Morrison at least put his hand in his pocket to keep the club afloat". It is strange you pick out Morrison as someone for some level of credit. As Chairman, he is the most culpable of the lot. He is the one who has been the public face of all the things that have got us in this mess. He was the one who was "delighted" to announce the Kelty nonsense. If he disagreed with any of the decisions which led us to this crisis, he could have resigned the Chair whilst remaining on the Board. He was also the one who had the power to direct the CEO to a different course of action when appropriate. Clearly he failed to do so. It is true he put his hand in his pocket and I am sure his heart was in the right place, but in truth, his position as Chair had been untenable since the concert debacle and his role as director of the liquidated concert company. "who else has done anything of any value at Director level???" Munro and Cameron have also put significant sums of money into the club. Others may have done so too in line with what their personal circumstances allow, but this is information which will be confidential. As Scotty has mentioned, Scott Young has been liaising with the Supporters Trust and he did have the guts to be out talking to supporters both before and after the Hamilton game. As I say, we don't know what goes on behind the scenes but I am hopeful that he will be a key person in the transition from old Board to new. Let's give the guy a chance before chucking him out along with those whose sell by dates are long gone.4 points

It's great that Aaron has had his surgery, but looking at the comments from other professional football players on his post tells you all you need to know. The reputational damage that has been done is going to take years to overcome.4 points

I should think it would be up to the manager to decide who he wants to keep, and I expect he should be speaking to them face to face instead of sending an email! Maybe Ferguson has been replaced with an AI manager, in Gardiner's last 'big idea' to save the club!!4 points
-
The entire board voted for Kelty, all are culpable for the poor decisions over the season. They were only shocked into overturning their poor decision when fans voiced their anger. All need to be replaced by those who will make decisions within the reality of the type of club we are. I hope those types are out there biding their time!!!4 points

The BBC page is now running a story based on Doran’s comments. Yet more bad publicity for us. The only hope is that this, along with all the other bad stuff recently, was a failure of the discredited, outgoing regime and that when the rescue deal completes we will see a transformation in the way the club communicates with players and fans.3 points
-
Although the situation has arisen from a very dark place, being able to contribute in a small way towards providing Aaron with the operation that he needed, has helped me, and hopefully others too, to believe that we are just as good (if not better) than many fans of other clubs around Scotland. Thanks to Shane for giving us a chance to feel good about ourselves. Never for a minute be fooled into thinking that we, the fans, are in any way responsible for the state our club is now in. We all know where the blame lies.3 points
-
Is this simply a Putinesque dictatorship? How can we ever, ever trust any of these Board members again ? If there is any loyalty or devotion to the club how could you sit there and keep your gob shut ? When you are aware of the concerns of the fan base, why would you remain silent? I really dread to think what is still to come out of this !!3 points
-
I broadly agree with that, but I'm not sure that all the Board should go. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but we do know that the Board directors, in line with standard practice, have collective responsibility and accountability. Decisions made are binding on all directors and those directors are required to publicly support and act according to those decisions, whether they agree with them or not. Of course, if a director feels strongly enough about a particular decision or the general behaviour of the Board, they can always resign. But that is sometimes the easy option because it allows the rest to carry on as before without the alternative arguments being considered. I would like to think that there was at least one or two directors who are as appalled as we are about what is happening and who are biting their tongues and working hard with potential investors for the longer term good of the club. This is also an important point to bear in mind for the future, if and when we get an elected supporter representative on the Board. They too will be subject to the same collective accountability. Some have argued in the past that a supporter representative will always be outvoted, so what's the point? The answer to that is firstly that they will not always be outvoted. Sometimes they will be able to persuade the Board to take actions they would not otherwise have done, sometimes, they will get modifications to plans. Sometimes they won't be able to change the majority view, but always they will be able to provide a supporters' perspective on the issue under discussion. So, in summary, I'm not sure all the Board need to go - just most of them.3 points

https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/it-is-only-right-that-people-know-the-truth-caley-thistl-316520/ Flashback to a year ago, when Shane Sutherland complained about the manner of his release and the club made a big song and dance about how they not only offered players formal meetings to discuss their release (if they had been at the club for 2 or more years) but also that they required to by employment law; there was even a SPFL template letter to use. So, how are they doing with fulfilling this requirement this time around?3 points
-
Pretty much echoes my own thoughts. The prime responsibility to discuss these issues with players must surely be that of the manager. OK, there is uncertainty about his position too, but ultimately it is the Board who are accountable and who should be dictating what is happening. They must all be acutely aware of how they collectively are being viewed as a result of recent events and each and every one of them should be ensuring that any bad news that needs to be given to any player or other member of staff is done sensitively and face to face. The fact that this is clearly not happening and the fact that there is no communication about so many important issues is very worrying indeed.3 points

We're almost a week on from a faceless call to arms and a plea to invest in season tickets, new kit and to get behind the club. Since then absolutely nada, nish, zero. Eight days until our first friendly and not a word regarding the playing squad, our invisible management team or any other fundamental issues relating to the season ahead. Quite frankly the most unprofessional bunch of clueless chancers that have ever graced a boardroom or dugout. An utter p1sstake which is surely severely undermining any last dregs of goodwill amongst our support. I'd be interested to hear what the Supporter's Trust have to say on this ongoing debacle.3 points

Morrison put money in but has a charge in place that shows he wants it all back out again. There's nothing wrong with that but it does indicate that his 'investment' was never philanthropic and he doesn't merit being viewed as such.2 points

Shameful It has come to light in the aftermath of the disrespectful treatment of a Club Legend that all is not well behind the scenes at the Caley Jags. It took another former player Shane Sutherland to highlight the plight of a great servant to the Caley Jags when he opened up a Go Fund Me page to support Aaron Doran who it appears had been let down by the very club he gave his all to for nearly fourteen years. Unfortunately Aaron had suffered a few career threatening injuries whilst playing for Inverness and that somewhat curtailed his appearances. Nonetheless, he still made 392 or 393 appearances for the club right up until he was seriously injured in a televised game at the Caledonian Stadium against Raith Rovers, twenty minutes in, and our third last game of the regular 2023-2024 season. Full Name: Aaron Brian Doran Cogan Born: May 13th, 1991 (Charleville, County Cork, Ireland) Height: 5' 7 Position: Winger Signed: January 25th, 2011 First Manager: Terry Butcher Left Club: June 10th, 2024 Career Stats: 392 appearances, 57 goals (we might have lost a game somewhere) Debut (as sub): January 26th, 2011 - Inverness CT 0 - 2 Aberdeen (League) Full Debut: February 5th, 2011 - 5 - 1 Morton (Scottish Cup - Rd 5) First Goal: February 12th, 2011 - St. Mirren 3 - 3 Inverness CT (League) Thanks to Shane Sutherland, the generosity of friends, fans, former colleagues and opponents, Aaron has now had his operation. However it has emerged that he had posted on Instagram regarding his sad dismissal and treatment from the Board of Inverness CT who have treated Aaron in a similar way to which they have been treating the fans. Let's not forget that Aaron was due to have a testimonial for his service to the club. It is the opinion of all on CTO that Aaron deserved better treatment than the silence he and others have been subjected to. We all understand there is a lot going on behind the scenes, but surely a shred of human decency could have been allocated to Aaron to support him better throughout this process. The general malaise emanating from within the Caledonian Stadium is one which many supporters find difficult to comprehend and it will take years to repair the damage being done to the brand right now. It's almost as if the Horizon System has been installed at the Caledonian Stadium over the last nine years. You would think that George Thomson was in charge... Here's a great memory for Aaron recreated by the talented local artist Sophie Robb as he holds the Scottish Cup. A Scottish Cup winner with the Caley Jags, the highlight of his career here. What a sublime pass threaded through to Marley Watkins to open the scoring in the 2-1 win over Falkirk in 2015. We are right behind you Aaron! Another way to help Aaron is through Robbo's fundraiser for his re-hab (that's Aaron's re-hab) The Prize Up for grabs is a really unique piece of Scottish football memorabilia, a Scotland top made for John Robertson with his name on the back. So why is this rare? Squad numbers didn't come into force domestically in Scotland until season 1998/1999 by which time Robbo had left Hearts for Livingston so no domestic jersey ever had his name on the back2 points

I’m not sure I would go as far as to say they should ALL be replaced because I’m sure there must be some good directors amongst them, but it’s hard to tell from the outside. Otherwise I agree with your point and have alluded to this many times. There is plenty of criticism that is deservedly thrown at Gardiner and for various reasons he needs to go, but I thought it all turned into a rather distasteful witch-hunt at times, with him being the scapegoat for all the club’s woes when in reality he is just an employee and responsibility for all the clubs failures and bad decisions resides with the board of directors. Fans are much keener to blame it all on the ‘outsider’ than on a board full of ICT fans.2 points

I can understand why he got it, but like others before him, the way it is being handled is not good. The man has given basically his entire career to ICT and not only did they allegedly tell him to 'walk it off' in regard to his ACL injury, but also then made him pay for the required op himself. (Thank goodness for Shane's initiative). He is, and will always be, a club legend. He is up there with the likes of Charlie and Rosscoe for length of service and has earned every bit of the respect he should be afforded. His playing career may be winding down (or over depending on the op results) but as a club we must treat our players (and other employees) right. There is no excuse for emailing a P45 to an employee. You do that face-to-face and look them in the eye, regardless of how uncomfortable a conversation it may be. Anything else is disrespectful or cowardly. Its not going to happen right now given the financial precipice we are at, but I would love to see a situation where long-serving players (like Aaron) have career discussions with the club and the club helps them plan for life after football. Thats what happens when your focus is community. If it is clear a player has dedicated a large portion of their career to playing for ICT then is it too much to ask ICT to dedicate some time and yes, some resources and/or money to helping the player plan the next stage of their career after football, whether that is funding or subsidising coaching courses, college courses or something else to give them a way forward. Treating players like something on the bottom of your shoe will come back to haunt the club. Players talk, and a dissenting voice is louder than anything else. Treating them right can and will bring benefits in the end as players will see that the club cares, and that trek up the A9 may be less problematic than signing for Kelty.2 points

Fair enough, but I don't think that that stops them any of them providing a summary - within legal and commercial constraints - of what is actually going on? Duncan needs to walk now he is NOT welcome back. As a player he was a fighter and a battler there is no doubt but as a manager he is a serial loser and has about as much tactical awareness as a four by two fence post. Dougal1 point

The Board of Directors at ICT would like to thank the fans for their continued incredible patience at this difficult time. Just as a reminder, the LOYALTY period and EARLY BIRD date for discounted season tickets is 2nd July 2024. The Club has arranged three friendlies before the start of the Cup matches and is optimistic that we will have enough players soon. I think we all want to get back to giving our usual financial support to the club and, for those who can afford it, perhaps a little bit more to help the club get back on track. It is all a question of timing and trust. None of us wants to shell out a significant sum of money only to see the club fall into administration. Nor do we want to see an outcome which sees broadly the same regime in charge. The last club statement and the subsequent one from the Supporters Trust gave grounds for considerable optimism. I would assume that the Trust is involved in some level of dialogue behind the scenes and has been given sufficient information to allow it to word their statement as they did. Some will have acted on this and purchased their season tickets but others feel more assurances are required before they part with their money. There are, perhaps 3 key issues. The CEO's position. His resignation has been accepted but he has been asked to work his notice, the length of which is confidential. Of course, the CEO himself could easily agree to make that information public for the sake of clarity. People can draw their own conclusions on why the information has not been made public. Rightly or wrongly, a large number of fans have so little trust in the CEO that they will not believe he is going until is actually gone. His actual departure will be followed by a significant influx of funds for the club and therefore those working behind the scenes should be taking steps to ensure those tasks which they seemingly need his knowledge and experience for are completed as soon as possible. If the CEO genuinely wants to do the best for the club, he will then go and a statement will be released to that effect. The accounts. This will (or should) take longer. I assume the accounts cannot be submitted until the auditors are satisfied the club is a going concern. That, in turn, cannot be demonstrated until a new Board is in place and has costed out its new football model and financial plan. In this context the extent to which existing Board members and the former Chairman are willing to write off their loans will be crucial. It would be helpful to everyone if they were to make their position on this public ASAP. The manager. We have been told Ferguson remains the manager and has accepted a wage cut. However, we have heard absolutely nothing from him. His style of play and his failure to make use of home grown talent last season has not endeared him to fans. Given that local lads are likely to make up the bulk of the squad next year, it would seem that he is not a good fit for the club going forward. His departure by mutual consent and his replacement by one of the very capable coaching staff at the club would be better for the club in both a financial and footballing sense. The start of the new season is now less than a month away. I appreciate that any potential new leadership and investors will need time to assess the situation in order to assure themselves that they want to be involved at all, and then to negotiate and implement the change. But time is ticking. The Club's welcome statement on Friday referred to "hugely positive discussions currently ongoing with a number of potential new investors". This would suggest that change is imminent, but as yet, only Ross Morrison has left and nobody new has arrived. Given the recent history of false promises and poor communication, people can be forgiven for being sceptical and for withholding their hard-earned money until they have proof of real change. Following on from Friday's statement, we need to have regular updates to inform fans on progress on the various issues. The club needs to earn the trust of fans - and the time to earn it is now.1 point
