  1. They should have come to my house to tell me about the deals in person
  2. We decided to do this weeks video with Yogi a bit differently today by having myself and Iain Auld join him for a round the table chat. It's over 27 minutes long, but covers some of the topics being discussed on here recently....
  3. Yes. I don't think that was in the game plan. I thought Richie was our poorest player in an overall disappointing performance. He picked up a justified booking for a rash challenge and just couldn't pick a pass at all. It says a lot about Yogi's strength of character that he took him off. Bush makes an excellent point in that we can't have Foran, Draper, Vincent and Tansey all playing at the same time. In my view, Foran is the one to make way. There are times when he is excellent (he was superb against County) but those times are becoming fewer and fewer. He seems to have lost a yard of pace and he's not winning balls on the back post in the way he used to. I doubt he'll be captain next season.
  4. Today was much better and it gave us a well deserved win and give Yogi some breathing space. I personally found the first half a bit shaky especially from the back four so much so that Partick could catch us out on the counter attacks. I think a bit of tightening up at the back wouldn't go a miss. Credit to Partick Thistle, they passed the ball smoothly on the deck especially in the first half they were unlucky not to score but thankfully Dean Brill had an excellent game today. Danny Williams continued to impress me again like he did a couple weeks back vs Hibs which to the point I was quite surprised that Yogi replaced him with Nick Ross but for me personally I found that James Vincent isn't a winger. I felt that when he got the ball out wide that he would cut in the middle with it thus eliminating the width which has been missing. Greg Tansey linking up with Billy Mckay was really pleasing today and which was providing Billy some support which he has been crying out for just behind him. I wasn't so sure on Richie Foran today and I will tell you if Willie Collum was refereeing today he would have walked for his rash challenge on the Partick player. Some of his passes today were woeful today and unfortunately he hasn't been the same since his injury and same could be said for James Vincent. Another point I would like to add is that parts of today I felt that we were sitting back too deep and inviting trouble and then getting Meekings or Warren to hoof it up the field and same could be said for part of the second half too. Take nothing away, I am not being negative about today. We got three vital points and hopefully the boost to kick on for the rest of the season but there is still room for improvement and I am sure Yogi himself is aware of that. Regarding Richie coming off, He clapped to the home support in appreciation and then shouted something but seemed like banter to the dugout nothing to read into it. Regarding entering Europe via the cup. As I understand it, If Dundee United finishes 4th and reach the final then they HAVE to play Aberdeen for us to get into Europe*. Aberdeen have to beat St Johnstone because if St Johnstone get to the final then the runners up would get the place. Dundee United vs St Johnstone would be the worst case scenario. *Dundee United have to win the cup of course.
  5. We were second best in the first half but improved in the second half. Maybe just about merited the win, and certainly needed it. Onwards & upwards now. I wasn't too keen on Vincent playing on the left as he instinctively kept coming inside leaving us very narrow. Glad to see Nick & Marley coming on, and think they need to feature more in coming games (especially if Dorans out). I think we can only have three of Tansey, Draper, Foran & Vincent playing at any one time. We'll gratefully take the three points and move on.
  6. It was actually Josh Meekings this time .Equally brave got bandaged up and got on with the job.!!
  7. First half was a complete non starter. The only player going in at half time with any credibility was Deano, 3 fantastic stops from Taylor, 2 from open play and one from a free kick. We could barely get out of our own box at times, let alone our own half. Tansey did have one ambitious effort from distance when it bounced up nicely, was unlucky with his effort. Boys came out fired up for the 2nd half. They were fighting for the ball more in midfield and Billy was starting to get in behind their defence some more. Before breaking the deadlock we passed up a couple of guilt edged chances. Tansey going clean through and lobbing it over Gallacher...and the bar, the next up was Billy who was found at the back post with just the keeper to beat, he took the touch, steadied himself but put it well wide when it seemed easier to score...even if it was his weaker side. Well taken set piece for the goal, struck in by Shinnie, knocked down by Draper and headed in by Billy. Rest of the game seemed to peter out. Partick had a few set pieces but Deano seemed to be on hand for most of them. Christie got on again and again looked tidy on the ball, we need to see more of him. To sum it up a win, a clean sheet, a goal and a home win Yogi...cant ask for much more than that after the week we have had.
  8. Any of you eejits calling for his head, take half an hour out your life and watch this. Brilliant wee insight.
  9. Agreed with what others have said. We were far better in the second half when we went a wee bit more direct and up and at them a bit more. Good management by Hughes to change the formation and the approach slightly. That's the way that suits us and they we should play all the time. One thing I noticed in the first half was while we had more of the ball, Partick seemed to create more with it in the times they did have it. We were more like that in the second half. One thing though was that James Vincent was a passenger today. Quite simply, he is not a winger and I'd have hooked him for Watkins at half-time. It's a bit like playing Tansey or when Butcher used to play Draper out wide. He should either be played in the middle, or not at all. A winger he ain't. Thought Danny Williams was quite good mind and I was surprised when he was the first man taken off.
  10. I was very worried at half time. I thought the team selection was far too defensive and I thought the team all looked very nervous. The only two who did well were Brill in goal and Williams who seemed to be the only player who really wanted the ball and wanted to do something other than simply give it to somebody else when he had it. I think this demonstrated how dependent we sometimes are on Doran. Without him we seem bereft of ideas as most of what the side normally does going forward involves him. Nobody else seemed to want to take responsibility and the ball just went sideways or back. I don't know what Yogi said at half time but it seemed to work. There was a much greater sense of purpose, much more movement off the ball and even a willingness to shoot. Tansey's contribution to the second half in particular was excellent. But when both Tansey and Mckay missed great opportunities I thought it just wasn't going to be our day. When the goal finally came the sense of relief on the pitch and around the ground was tangible. Williams played well and was unlucky to be subbed. Ross replaced him in a like for like role and did well. Christie replacing Foran added an extra spark and creativity and the balance of the side looked better. I'd like to see Ross and Christie have more game time together. With Doran rather than Watkins, the team we finished up with would be capable of some pretty entertaining attacking football IMHO. Whilst overall it wasn't the greatest of games, there was enough in the 2nd half to indicate that there is some good football to come for the remainder of the season. I doubt that we will be good enough for top 3 but there is no reason why we can't get 4th spot. Unfortunately the rest of the top 6 all won this weekend so we have not made up any ground. Actually quite unusual for the top six to be playing the bottom 6 in the same weekend and for all the top six to win.
  11. Hughes should be sacked if he tries to force the 4-1-4-1 formation on the team again. Now is not the time to make that change. Maybe using a pre season but right now we are geared towards reaping the rewards of our style under Butcher and again it showed today. Credit to him for changing things back today. #SayNoTo4-1-4-1
  12. BBC saying attendance 3093. If so, pathetic!!! After those awesome deals the club put on i was thinking 3700 and above..... Inverness doesnt deserve ICT
  13. Comments taken on board and will be considered. The idea was to get away from the normal interview setup. Manager and Players have had mics and cameras stuck in their face almost constantly for the last 3 weeks and I thought it would be good to do something more relaxed which wasn't being totally lead by the interviewer and allowed Yogi to talk more openly and in a bit more depth about stuff....and to do so without fear that it would be inappropriately edited and/or spun. Where you use the word "cosy", I'd see it more as relaxed...and that was the aim. Not sure why you would want to see anyone upsetting anyone else...and that will never be what we set out to do. He covered off many of the points being discussed by fans without the need for more direct questioning and we all have to remember that there's only so far he can and will be expected to go in terms of talking about changes in tactics or plans for future games as that merely provides the opposition with information that can be used against us. Given that this has been well received we will look to build on and expand the idea with Yogi, and to also involve other members of the coaching staff and players.
  14. Really good interview and insight into what goes on behind the scenes. And if further inspiration is needed then look no further than the big man behind the media operation. Someone with a true passion for the club and appreciation of our situation. Someone who, though a falling out resulted in him being relieved of his duties as announcer some time ago, persisted in his quest to give the fans what they were screaming out for as far as transparency and information output were concerned. I'm also sure the big man hasn't yet achieved the full potential of what he's aiming for and that there's a lot more to come. A big well done and thank you to Caleyd and his media team.
  15. That was the least inspiring half hour of my ICT life lol It's all well seeing a weakness, its fixing it thats the hard part. Not much in the way of accepting guilt for how terrible our form has been since he arrived. The whole thing was too cosy for my liking, the pair of yous seemed scared to upset the man and just nodded along with all his drivel about how great the boys are doing.
  16. That top with Quaker on it looks pretty smart TBH
  17. You might not be a fan of yogi but back the BOYS they are going through bad spell and we should be giving them 110% at every game. Its them who gave us our first cup final and top six not TB or JH
  18. A fisheye effect had to be used to get them in the photo. Where was this taken?
  19. http://caleythistleonline.com/page/index.html/_/previews-2013-14/inverness-ct-v-partick-th-preview-r1146 I'm losing the will to live now as Hughes fever hits the forum after our recent drought. Yes it's been a disappointing week, but some folk need to take stock.........................read on.
  20. Would like to second Roughi's comment. I thought Williams was really good today...mainly cos he was played in his natural position, on the wing! Good pace and a decent cross, only drawback is he is very one footed but still another who there could be more to come from. We have the luxury of having 4 quality players to play through the middle and Yogi seems to be struggling to pick who to cut from the starting 11. While he may have been poor today I wouldnt drop Foran. He is still far too influential to have out of the time. For me Id keep him in midfield and stick Tansey just off Billy or put Vincent back there, he will NEVER be a winger. Alternatively with the season more or less over it would be great to see Ryan Christie get a longer run in the team, think he is perfect for the role just off the striker.
  21. Brill Raven Meekings Devine Tremarco Vincent/Draper Doran Shinnie Ross/Foran Christie McKay I would love to see Shinnie playing further up the pitch. He has great pace and can take people on. Christie has so much potential and needs to be given a game from the start to show what he can do. i think an attacking 5 of Doran, Ross, Christie, Shinnie and Mckay could have defences running scared. There is so much talent and pace there, the potential is frightening
  22. I think I'm right in saying that Stagecoach were one of today's sponsors!
  23. The first half was very poor and we were very fortunate to go in level. The second half and the change of formation and attitude was a clear improvement and credit must go to the manager for the change although it could perhaps have been done earlier. Not the most convincing of wins but very welcome at the current time. That's effectively three monkeys off our back. The manager's first home league win, the end of the collective goal drought and, from the point of view of his confidence, the welcome end to Billy's personal barren spell. Special credit must go to Dean Brill today. There is no doubt that he has been enduring a sticky spell but today he kept us in the game in the first half while Partick were in the ascendancy. Finally, regarding Richie Foran, there's no doubt that he is not as sharp and consistent as he was before his injury lay off but I think those who are suggesting that he's past his best may be just a tad premature. Just because he's 33 doesn't mean that his loss of form isn't temporary. Personally, I would not be surprised to see him back at his commanding and inspirational best next season. Vincent has, for whatever reason, not been in the best of form lately and is maybe in need of a spell on the bench.
  24. Was that a new announcer today? Liked the sound of his own voice! Was wishing he would just stop talking and repeating himself!
  25. One down four to go
  26. 3 league places and one scottish cup place in europe. Iwould be happy with a gers v dons final and then try for 4th or higher. The cup final experience has added character to the players and I don't thinking playing for europe will put them off.

He's following the ICT model. Get relegated. Bounce back up. Spend a season establishing themselves. Begin to improve. Get somewhere, then leave. 'm sure the Hibs management and supporters are fine with that
  28. He karate kicked Nessie in the face.
  29. First half was as bad as we've played all season. Far too much tippy tappy stuff in our own half. Goalie plays it short to centre half, midfielders come deep to pick up the ball and knock it around between them, play becomes congested in our half, Partick close down, we lose possession. Rinse and repeat. Second half was excellent. Our shape was much better, we had width, we pushed men into forward areas, we had much more movement up front, and we played much more direct long passes. This stretched the game and ultimately was too much for Partick to handle. We should have scored 2 or 3. When we try to play like Arsenal (i.e. first half) we struggle and look like relegation fodder, when we play to our strengths (i.e. pressing and direct) we are much more dangerous and look as good as anyone outside Celtic.
  30. Anyone notice Foran's reaction when he was taken off?
  31. It is very disappointing that the crowd was still so small despite the incentives. Club can't do much more than it's doing. If people don't want to watch their local football team then you can't force them. The Board just has to tailor it's strategy to the low level of support the club gets. Of course, the better the product on the park, the more will pay to watch but as long as we don't pretend we can sell out the stands other than for very occasional matches.
  32. I'll take that. Would have wanted more but great to get a goal and get winning again...AND another home win for Yogi!
  33. Ach, Ross and Christie not starting again. Top 6 is guaranteed, cup business is done and to be blatantly honest I don't really care about Europe. If we get it great, but I wouldn't be too dejected, Like to see the team freshened up to be honest and get them a run. When Ross plays I feel we keep the ball better and Christie may as well get some good game time against the bottom 6 teams. We created plenty of chances versus Well but again our profligacy in front of goal showed up again. Always knew we'd struggle to score if Mckay had a barren run and we need to look at other options.

I'm sure we can do it. BELIEVE!
  35. No, it makes you a right good manager
  36. Agreed. Very refreshing interview --and interesting. All the naysayers ..I hope you take this one in because if it has the effect of changing your opinion of John Hughes then that is very good for the club, for him and for your own outlook. Cheers Scarlet
  37. I have a pair of Lambretta shoes, and I used to have a parka. Do they count, or am I off my rocker? I'm never going to post on this thread again. Ever. Much.
  38. Not going to happen and yes, I can sense a win :). It is getting into a busy part of Tennis season so watching a lot of that on Sky and BBC hence not posting on here plus CaleyD and ilPadrino want me gone, shameful posts by someone who is a former mod!! Trying not to sound to harsh as I don't want banned. One word....Balls!!!
  39. Probably your family trying to get out
  40. 1 point
Come now, we won't lose that heavily.
  41. Charlie is the better player for me, although Iain is probably the better manager.
  42. 3500-4000 would be a good crowd and should be viewed as a good sign. Off the pitch the club are doing as good a job as it ever has done and that has to be applauded - a lot of work and "advertising" being done by a few. Unfortunately we do have a more critical support than most - even when we are doing as well as we ever have done and possibly ever will do. The other thing - as Tinkerville is discovering - is that being in the Premier League is a novelty that does not last fer long. I am sure that some of the "undecided" will look at games against the Plastic Whistle or Stain Midden to have become run of the mill and boring.
  43. I want both players to stay the club and if I was manager then I would give both players contracts to last up until 2017. Ryan Christie like the Cup Final and last night brought a spark to the team which is what we are needing, fresh legs and fresh ideas to freshen up the team. I can only imagine that the players will emotionally and physically drained from the heavy schedule so maybe now is the time to blood in the youngsters. As I stated in the 'Ryan Christie' thread if ICT have the similar set up as Dundee United then I feel we would come along way and we would get exposure for ICT and who know Ryan Christie may find himself in the Scotland U21 squad, we do know that Billy Stark knows that Scotland still continues past Perth. Liam Polworth as already has been stated by collectiveaction plays a different game to Ryan Christie but I feel that he is good at what he does. The difference with Liam Polworth in his postition I feel he needs bit more strength about him so that he can push players off the ball and keep good ball retention - a loan spell wouldn't go a miss IMO. Liam Polworth reminds me of a young Barry Ferguson. Neither players should be binned IMO - especially Ryan Christie be ludicrous.

While watching the match last night, Alternative Maryhill turned to me and said we should be building a team around him. I agree completely. Why we have talented players like Christie and Ross on the bench each week and not in the starting XI is beyond me. I would qualify this slightly by saying that I wouldn't expect him to carry the team at such a young age - in fact it's possible one of the reasons he's made such an impact in his brief appearances is because he's playing without fear or the pressure of expectation - but certainly we should be looking to develop our playing style through the players who are our greatest sources of creativity, and on the little amount of evidence we've seen so far, Christie certainly looks like one of those players. Although his willingness to take players on and beat them is really encouraging, what impresses me most is the vision and weight of his passing - in just about every appearance he's made now, he's pulled off one of those slid-rule passes that his father did so well. There's no-one else in the team at the moment that looks capable of that - Andrew Shinnie was the last player we had who was, and if Christie continues to progress the way he is doing, then he looks like he will be the natural heir to Shinnie.
  45. I heard County have a new sponsor next season. Southern Highland Institute of Technology and Enterprise. I am told their manager will also be sponsored by Global Offshore Banking as well as the S.H.I.T.E.
  46. Heard it's a done deal. They are changing their name to Council of Upper Northern Territory of Scotland and paying us to have their acronym emblazoned across our shirts.
  47. You will get directions soon but please don't name it with anything to do with tractors as the farming community over the bridge may get the wrong impression.
