sorry 'bout that. To be honest, the first movie was a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, but didnt want to sound so North American in the forum ... already get accused of that too much . The sequels were truly terrible though. Not shown on TV here now though as the name of the club is considered culturally insensitive now and has changed to Cleveland Guardians. I think they will be trying to go for the model Charlie has mentioned a few times.... 8-8-8. Not sure what that will mean in terms of our current squad but it seems to be 8 pros, 8 academy players and 8 local based players from HL or lower leagues. As for management, I could see the scenario you describe being a potential. If they can have someone "multi-task" then they are of more value to the administrator than someone who is only employed to do one thing. I feel for the staff and players right now. Our football club is paying the price for so much mismanagement over the last 7 years (in my estimation), 5 of which were overseen by our former CEO and 2 by the CEO before him. While we all hurt and complain and moan, our mortgages and other bills are likely still taken care of. However, there are folks down there right now, players and staff, many of whom we have all known for years or that we know do a power of work, who don't know how they will make ends meet if they are let go. We should not make light of any of this, nor should those Muppets who got us into this situation in the first place. Hang your heads in f****** shame each and every one of you who oversaw this decline. Hope you can look in the mirror each morning. I am sure you will because most of you have no conscience, guilt or acceptance of any liability in this whole affair.6 points

Imperative that decisions on players contracts and who will be remaining is made incredibly swiftly to allow preparations for the wknd and allow focus of mind. Cant allow this to drag at all and players (and staff) need to know if they be still be there on matchday or not - lingering uncertainty will do us no favours. Early days but genuinely see this Sat game at Dumbarton as huge. We win and its back to zero points and only 9 behind - physiologically I think that will be massive around the club to know we will be gaining positive points going forwards (this early) rather than fighting back from the negative state and feeling hard done by. Not withstanding the increased gap to the other teams a loss brings as well. After a win last wknd we need to build momentum and get a good feeling around the squad but feel that with the uncertainty many at the club will be focused on what this means for their careers or employment rather than playing a game. Big week in many ways and one for strong heads and maturity to take control - I'm not sure Dunc is the guy that can galvanise a squad but fingers crossed likes of Billy & Devine can (if they are still around)6 points

We would have been in administration within the 12 months. We'd have had massively reduced income from supporters and sponsors if the move had gone ahead, the situation would have been unsustainable. That little spiel from Ferguson actually makes me think far less of Ross Morrison. He was prepared to fund the club for twelve months if we moved to Kelty but people didn't want to move to Kelty so no funding? I don't blame him for not funding the club anymore, it's burning money really, but he would ONLY fund it if we moved football operations 140 miles away? Seems a bit of a tantrum.5 points

Whilst I am not clued in on whether or not a Football Club in administration has different rules to a company in administration (or looking to cut costs, aka, make redundancies), whilst the larger earners are the ones that you typically do look at removing from the books, you cannot be made redundant during the process solely based on how much you earn. I think it's important to remember at this time that whilst we may be fans of the club, there are actual employees whose livelihood are under threat here and are entering a difficult period of uncertainty, stress and worry. I do hope that all staff, and players, who lose their jobs during this event are taken care of, offered support, and provided a respectful package.5 points

I don't feel sorry for Duncan Ferguson the millionaire or thereabouts. Probably thought of ICT as history by the time he reached bottom of Drumossie Brae. He'll find another job soon enough. I feel sorry for the people at the club who are normal, non famous, hard working local folk.4 points

Not Dunc bashing, and if you read other things I have said, I don't lay blame at his door for the mess we find ourselves in financially. However, let's not canonise him just yet. He may well have been good at PR with fans, and to be fair he does have a history of showing that positive side of his character at both Everton and everywhere else he went as a coach or manager, but lets balance that very good quality of his with the fact that he uttered not one word after relegation until a bunch of players had already found out they were out the door with not a word from their line manager or - it has to be said - the CEO or any directors. Thats the other side of the same coin. I wish him well in his future career, I thank him for the positive stuff he did (or tried to do) at the club, and for more recently taking wage cuts or working for free to try and help in some way. It is appreciated. I am sorry he was the first out the door, but he is likely to be one of the best placed to find another job, working PR for Everton perhaps, or back there in some coaching capacity rather than as a full-blown manager.4 points

Dunc the man seems ok (at times). dunc the manager not so much and if he was so concerned with others I still cant get that aligned with his silence over the summer when players were treated like dirt.4 points

I can't find odds for our game this weekend, on either McBookie, Betfair or Bet365, where I normally get odds from. No doubt due to us falling into administration. On top of that, as it's a Scottish Cup weekend the fixtures are reduced so I have taken the decision to break from the norm and include these ones. This is a one off, hopefully no one minds. I've seen a couple of posts saying we should go for X or Y as manager until the end of the season but that's not how administration works. Essentially the administrator will look to cut as many costs as possible to leave the minimum resource to operate as a viable business until such time as admin is exited (i.e a sale). The administrators will still want a semi competitive team so some of the player exits might seem surprising when they come out tomorrow. The only way we could sign players while in admin is if we were left with less than 11 players. You would get special dispensation to sign players on week to week or trialist terms.3 points

by funding, does he mean more loans so we would be £5m or £6m in debt when it was called in instead of £3m or £4m? Also no changes at boardroom level or in the CEO's office so still no governance. Administration is going to be hard, painful and horrible, but pouring money into a leaky bucket still leaves it empty.3 points

The P&J is reporting that Billy McKay will be named as Kells’ assistant. It was inevitable that Ferguson and his entourage would be casualties and I wish them well. My thoughts are with all those who will learn their fate tomorrow and I just hope all those who learn they are leaving are treated properly by the club.3 points

Best of luck to Motty in his new role. Like Scott Young, probably not one he was expecting or planning for but a good local lad wish him the best and hope the fans get behind him.3 points

Sorry to see dunc go. Watched him follow the team out on Saturday, while heading to the dugout he spotted someone in a wheelchair past the barriers. He separated them and went to spend some time talking to the person then returned to his side. CLASS. Top man. Wish him all the best for the future wherever that may be.3 points

I think Scot Gardiner was a very easy individual to take an instant dislike to. He simply exuded an unpleasant aura which his intermittent attempts at charm utterly failed to conceal. The PandJ’s public exposure of that was a masterpiece.2 points

This Thank you to DF, GB and SG for their hard work and time put in at the club and wish them the best in the future. I'm sure they'll find equal if not better employment elsewhere within the football world. I'm not best placed at present to offer any further opinions especially on DF as it would be ill-placed and I've said a lot already. It's the hard workers behind the scenes that will find it harder and tougher in the coming days, weeks and months and are so often overlooked in these situations. It doesn't pay for the new outlets to focus on the unsung behind the scenes staff which is why they'll all gush about DF.2 points

It's impossible to know who might stay/go etc as there are so many factors at play. Ultimately the administrators need to get costs down to a sustainable level because they can't assume there will be a buyer in x number of weeks. That means they will need to get to a stage where income covers costs and things like crowdfunding might help in the short term but it won't be viewed as income in terms of sustainability. If the club are burning six figures a month more than we can currently afford, that is a lot of cutting. They also have to deal with the debt. It would be of no shock to me if almost the entire squad has to be cut and we have to go almost entirely on academy players and perhaps even part timers. Having a business that can operate within it's means will trump one that can compete to stay in L1 and given the points penalty and likelihood of relegation they may decide squad strength doesn't factor very high on the priority list. As I said at the start it's impossible to know and I'm preparing for the bulk of players leaving but have everything crossed that doesn't happen.2 points

At the end of the day, we would currently be 12 points adrift at the bottom. Thats only 4 games! especially if we can do better than the bottom team, aim here first, then aim for the team above that. It was a crap film, but there was a baseball movie called 'major league' and that kind of situation formed part of the storyline as the 'shitty' team setup to lose the league started concentrating on every game and eventually coming through. We need that kind of siege mentality, or chip on our shoulder as motivation back at ICT to finish this season still in League One, then build on that for next year.2 points

All this after the fact criticism of Gardiner rings hollow when the vast majority of the support backed him virtually to the end. He thought he could dupe the glaikit Highlanders and to a large extent he succeeded.1 point

I can't get the video to work, Internet is a bit hit and miss here in Turkey. However just going by the quotes he (Ferguson) seems to be under the impression that going to Kelty would have solved all our issues, cleared the slate, given him a budget for presumably 6 central belters who could/would not come up here. But the board (via fan pressure) went against Morrison and 'decided for admin' so, he then took his ball and went off. It's nowhere near as simplistic as he's making out. Other factors push us towards where we are, not least of course him being the manager who got us relegated worsening our already fragile situation but he's hardly going to highlight that. I've some sympathy for him in the sense that he was most likely sold some story when headhunted for the job (I still think it was a huge ego massage signing for SG) about all of the SG/RM schemes working out and he'd get a huge transfer budget, his 3k a week, gold plated training cones and the like. And why would he doubt these local titans of business and football club management?1 point

I think we need to get straight that this is an administration situation where one of the next possible steps is, unfortunately, the morgue. To avoid that, the administrator is going to take any steps he can, however drastic, to cut expenditure, and high up that agenda is cutting the wage bill. We are well, well past thinking about who we would like to see as a replacement and the thought of signing up any new staff to do jobs that can be done from within the existing payroll - and possibly these even at reduced wages - seems inconceivable.1 point

The First Cut is the Deepest BREAKING NEWS: Duncan Ferguson, Gary Bollan and Stuart Garden are the first heads to roll at cash strapped Caley Jags as the Administrators wield the big axe. Official Statement: Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC can confirm that Manager Duncan Ferguson, Assistant Manager Gary Bollan and Goalkeeping Coach Stuart Garden have left the club with immediate effect following the ongoing review of the financial position with the Joint Administrators. The club would like to place on record our thanks to Duncan, Gary and Stuart for their efforts while at Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and wish them the very best in the future. Scott Kellacher, first team coach, is stepping up to take over as first team head coach with immediate effect. A full update on first team coaching staff going forward will be made in due course. Rumours abound that Billy Mckay may well be used as player coach to back up Kellacher. ***Update 24/10/2024*** Duncan Ferguson gone. (Scott Kellacher is new head coach, with Billy Mckay as player coach) Gary Bollan gone Stuart Garden gone Players out Cameron Ferguson (12 appearances, enough said) Adam Brooks (7 goals in 41 appearances) Flynn Duffy (injured at present) Wallace Duffy (113 apps, 5 goals) Jack Newman (loan ended back to Dundee United) Good summary on CTO from CB: All behind the scenes jobs retained for the moment, with possible reductions in hours. AS, who was at the top table with the admin and was confirmed as on his way on to the board, committed to ongoing funding, and this is probably why redundancies are relatively light. There have been three bids since the Admin came in… AS isn’t one of them. They expect the process to take weeks rather than months. The Admin confirmed that they would be looking at past financial practices and - when prompted - agreed that if there had been criminality, it would be looked into. Debt situation not yet clear and admin wouldn’t discuss any individual creditor when RM’s name was raised. Proposal to convert “Kingsmills Suite” into a restaurant franchise. Link to CTO topic regarding cuts will be updated as and when we receive the information.1 point

Totally agree : for the first 20 years or so everyone from staff / players / manager / coaching staff and directors were all focussed on the club's success. That seemed to go after the fantastic 2014/15 season and it's been a gradual decline since then How those in charge were appointed and then allowed to run the club into the ground I really can't fathom. We are almost back to where we started in 1994. We need to get back to that mentality (nothing less) and find the right people to get the club back to where it was.1 point

Alan is bang on the money there (no pun intended). Five years ago, the club was already in a position where it had just had to raise £1 million, mainly from two large contributions, in new share capital simply to keep running (and overspending). Since then, it's been one outing for the begging bowl after another and that should never have been allowed to continue for five minutes, never mind five years. What he says about Concert Companies is spot on as well. Apart from the idea being wrong for a football club, the level of gross incompetence involved was breathtaking and the extra bad feeling about the club that was created has been catastrophic. I would find it difficult to criticise any businesses left short after that if I heard that they were rubbing their hands with glee whilst washing down their Karma and chips with a pint of Schadenfreude.1 point

Alan Savage comes across in this interview in the P&J in a positive way and says.... “We hope the (remaining) players get a lift from what the administrator says. I have got a good feeling about it. “Ultimately, we want to ensure we stay in League One. We want to come out of it with a decent enough side and I’m sure we will. “People have said to me administration needed to happen five years ago when the club was losing shed-loads of money. Something had to be done – you can’t keep on spending money.” Savage is convinced, through the administration process, the Highlanders – relegated from the Championship last season – can get back on the right track after a chaotic few years. He said: “If the club had focused on football and not concert companies, we’d be in better shape. Gloves off eh?1 point

It's all starting to sound like a load of sentimental tosh. A couple of months back most people would have been happy to aee Ferguson booted but now the circumstances have changed and he's likely to depart due to administration instead of his own incompetence we have people trying to defend him. I don't hate Ferguson. He should never have been given the job in the first place and the way he sets out the team and tactics is enough to me the eyes bleed but appointed he was and responsibility for that lies elsewhere. Paying for overnight stays before away games and the even more bizarre scenario of him providing players petrol money and whatever is all about him protecting his image because he knows he'll be looking for another job very shortly. For the majority of managers and players this is a job and the whole claiming allegiance to the club etc is just to keep us as mug fans on side. Ferguson is not working for free and his wages will have been deferred. When administration happens he'll be top of the list for payment of that money. He claims to be paying player petrol etc. but see my comment on another chat thread as to why that's just BS and I imagine he's covering his boys costs and overplaying the situation. I don't hate Ferguson but he's playing the situation to ensure he remains employable once he's shown the door with us. Did he have to pay these things? No, but it makes him look good and as fans we are daft enough to praise him for it. I'm more concerned for the few staff behind the scenes who have shown real commitment to ICTFC. So let's stop with the 'aww poor Ferguson' bs. He may have been sold a pup by the **** Scot Gardiner and delusional Ross Morrison, but he will be far from the biggest loser in the chit show that we have become in the last 6 or 7 years. Ultimately he is a part of the problem even if he's not the cause of it.1 point
