  1. What a knob. Basically he's not happy because we don't conduct our dealings in public in the way the tabloids would want us to. They'd also love us to get into a war of words with Aberdeen, which I'm sure we have no desire to do. All of us would like to know what happened here, but in a case like this it's actually very difficult for ICT to make a statement that answers the questions without going into confidential and commercially sensitive contractual details, which ought to remain private.

  2. Ok, so I've just logged in and caught up on this thread. I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed in a lot of the posts. First of all let me make it clear, I wasn't at the game in Stirling, nor was I at the CJT board meeting which followed as I was away, so I'm not going to get into the rights and wrongs of what happened and who said what. What I will say is that having a little information I am really saddened by some of the posts in this thread. Not even the posts of the young people who feel they did nothing wrong, but the people who jumped on the bandwagon and should have known better. Do you for 1 minute believe that the CJT board members in attendance would have a problem with singing and having fun? These people are comitted to home and away games and much more while holding down full time jobs, family comittments etc into the bargain. I know a few of them who are really hurt by many of the comments. We are arranging to meet the boys on Friday night to discuss the events of the day and identify what is and isn't acceptable behaviour. We are also happy to hear from them and what concerns and points they would like to raise. Please note that this meeting is primarily for those who travelled on the bus to Stirling I would hope to be able to post a better update when I am more aware of the facts and what the general feeling is on Friday night. I hope that some of the people with strong feeling will consider standing for election at the upcoming AGM.

  3. I see a statement has been released from ICT now, stating that Greg wanted to stay. If that is the case then it certainly explains a lot. I'm not at all convinced by that though, I'd be very angry at my own manager if he's lied about the whole " The player was eager to join us " spiel. I suppose at the end of the day, he's still an ICT player and that's literally all that matters now. In any case, I am signing off for good this time, again, very best of luck for the rest of the season and hope you all have a good night, apart from you obviously IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER ;)

  4. Sorry bughmaster, but that statement there is a bit far fetched. In what way have Aberdeen acted without dignity? McInnes was asked a question, or several actually, about the whole ordeal, and he answered, he also publicly said that he'd spoken to John Hughes, who was happy with the way we conducted the deal, he wouldn't make that up, especially the talking to Hughes part knowing that Hughes would get wind of it, and your manager is not the type to let a lie go, is he, he is a passionate man that cares about his club and it's supporters and takes zero bullsh!t. I'd also like to point out that McInnes found out that we could actually put the money together on the Friday, but didn't want to disrupt ICT's match preparation for the Saturday, and it was only after he was made aware that your game was cancelled, he tabled the offer, on Saturday, I would say that's actually pretty respectful and certainly dignified. I can only speak for myself here as well, but to say we are envious is also a bit far fetched, I'm over the moon that ICT have had success over the years, and I've always enjoyed the brand of football you play & the difficult fixtures we always seem to have, there is never much in the games, long may it continue. I completely respect and appreciate that this is a bit of a bad time, given the circumstances of this saga, but I draw the line at ridiculous statements like that.

  6. This just gets more and more bizarre! It appears that Tansey has parted company with his agent, Rob Shield from Evolve Sports Management. Certainly, he's removed his contact details from his Twitter. Below are screenshots from today and an 'archive' from Sunday 31st. I wondered if he represented any other ICT players and a spot of Googling revealed he does indeed - James Vincent and Danny Williams!! There's something going on here...

  7. That's a little disingenuous! The run to the League Cup Final in 2014 was/is an historic achievement and one of the indelible marks in this club's history. The extraordinary, 9-man, last-gasp comeback equaliser and eventual victory against Hearts in Edinburgh is one of the most memorable games for many fans. Check back at the Matchday Threads for that game, the Final and the build up - it was a huge deal (You actually used the word 'proud' in one such thread). To now dismiss those occasions and the achievement of our players, as 'mickey mouse', smacks of petty jealousy at Ross County.

  8. Hi, Cambridge fan here and just want to say you are getting one heck of a player and a top fella. The press are listing Liam as an attacking midfielder but he has played just about every position for us. I'd say his best position is a deep lying centre mid or centre def. As his record shows he isn't a massive goal scorer but he has great creativity can certainly pick a pass to unlock a defence. Not afraid to get stuck in and mix it when he has to but certainly not dirty in anyway. He's tall and we regularly put him up against tall strikers when defending corners or goal kicks and he won a LOT more than he lost. He's got a good engine and as you've seen from the video has a shot on him like a kicking horse. We really don't understand the logic in letting him go. He's been a stalwart for the last 2-3 years but a new manager has come in and bombed him & a few others straight out of the team without ever looking at them in a game and replaced them with a number of untried premier league youngsters, none of whom are setting the world alight. One thing you really will get from him is a real connection with the fans, he'll always be happy to have photos taken or sign autographs. Any kids that ask him will get asked if they play, what position etc and he gives a real sense of being genuinely interested in their answers. I hope you enjoy him, he will always get a fantastic welcome from us for the opening goal in our playoff final at Wembley in 2014 that ended 9 years of non league wilderness. Keep an eye out for a U's shirt or two popping up as I've already heard of several people planning a weekend away.

  10. So, another twist. Tyrone Smith from STV has just tweeted a statement from Greg's agents. They say that they have an excellent relationship with ICT and Greg is very happy here. They've also stated that they've never considered legal action v ICT. Then the interesting bit - the statement also says that 3rd parties acting outside SFA and FIFA regulations are being looked at. Reads as though a 3rd party tried to broker a deal without ICT's or Greg's agents knowledge.

  12. If it's true that Tansey decided to stay then that's incredible. Loyalty is hard to come by in football and I applaud him.

  13. I think it is pretty well accepted that Aberdeen only really turned their attention to Tansey once they were pipped by Hearts to the signature of Don Cowie.

  15. Gellions bus for Dundee away on 27th February is booked. It was just games now and then they would do before but looking to make it a regular thing. Get a supporters club going. Looking for names for it. Would be good if all the boys who were on the cjt bus move over to the Gellions one now permanently. Singing and having fun is encouraged!

  16. Apparently it was in the contract small print that the £200,000 release clause could only be validly triggered by an offer from a club that has won the Scottish Cup within the last 25 years.

  17. No. I don't buy it. The statement says that Tansey "elected" to stay and thanked him for his "integrity, honesty and loyalty to the club". When you think about it, this is very strange language to use. If the agent acted without Tansey's knowledge then you can be sure that Tansey was made aware of what was going on as soon as anybody on this forum got wind. If he didn't want a move to Aberdeen then he would have been on to his agent and the club in a flash and any "deal" would have been dead early in the day. However, if the agent's approach to Aberdeen was an inappropriate approach, then when the club met Tansey later in the day to try and persuade him to stay, Tansey might have revealed information which made it clear that his agent had acted inappropriately. After all, if the club was aware of any inappropriate action on behalf of the agent then negotiations would have stalled at the initial offer. Tansey might have told the club that his agent knew he would be interested in a move to Aberdeen if it meant more money but was not aware any approach was in any way inappropriate. The club may well have told him that in the light of the inappropriate nature of the approach, a deal was not really on or they may simply have offered Tansey a bit more dosh to stay. My scenario fits the wording the club used in their statement. It doesn't say that Tansey wants to stay, it says he elected to stay. And if it was a question of his agent acting without his knowledge, why would the club statement make any reference to his integrity and honesty? If he wanted to stay and his agent was playing silly beggars, what on earth would he have to be honest about! And if he had been persuaded by his agent to go along with an approach which (perhaps without Tansey being aware) was against the rules, then part of the persuading him to stay may have been the very sound advice to get shot of the agent. My take on this is that Tansey would like a move to a bigger club but was persuaded to stay on this occasion. I would also think that Tansey may have seen his agent's activity as flying a kite to an extent and that he is actually perfectly happy to stay here for the time being. Hopefully his form for the rest of the season will mean that any offers in the summer will be more substantial than Aberdeen's.

  19. The ICT statement doesn't really clear anything up, not that I was expecting it to, in fact it probably raises more questions than people had before. Bit of a shambles all round really.

  20. not sure if I am putting 2+2 and making 5 but based on the various bits of info (rumour?) floating around perhaps its a case of the agent touting the player without his knowledge or agreement? That would fit the comments made up to now and does not then make McInnes or ICT liars .....

  21. The statement is indeed ridiculous. There is a healthy rivalry between the clubs. We do have a natural resentment that you tend to nick our best players but most of us recognise that were the positions reversed and we were able to double your player's wages the traffic along the A96 would be in the opposite direction and is simple commercial reality. Finally, although your club were a bit heavy on the rent, most of us recognise that we would not have been able to take up our place in the top league were it not for the Dons offering to share Pittodrie and many of us remain grateful for it. I would hope that the ill informed nonsense spouted by ignorant Weegie based journalists does nothing to sour what have been generally good relations. Good luck tonight against Celtic and give us a proper title challenge at long last. You will need those three points as you will not be leaving Inverness with any later in the month.

  22. Surely Alex's comments are a bit tongue in cheek and it's just because it's County showing us up on a rare occasion that's made him say that.

  25. Utter nonsense Tansey could well stay with us and who says Josh Meekings is at loggerheads with the manager, he maybe made a criticism of one aspect of a press release but to the best of my knowledge that is all it was. Come on Kingsmills don't be such a drama queen.

  26. How exactly are Keith Jackson and his Daily Record colleagues 'friends' of our club? Respect is earned. If you want stories handed to you on a plate you could at the very least make the effort to build a relationship with people at our club rather than sitting at your desk in Glasgow acting like we don't even exist. Journalism 101.

  27. Good luck to Ross County in the final. I am a bit more relaxed on my view whether they win games or not now since we have set the bar so high already with last years venture. Before that I desperately wanted us to be the first highland team to achieve a cup win and a Euro adventure...and we did.

  28. Now the west coast media want to write about us, clearly winning the scottish cup and having plaudits about our stlye of play last season dont do anything for football journalists compared to creating some kind of immature celebrity type trash tv war of words. Clearly a credible football source to care about.

  34. I agree that we don't come out of this looking good. But I believe Aberdeen perhaps should have shown us more respect. Not content with taking Shinnie, then failed attempts for Watkins and Draper. They have had the entire month of January to complete a deal for Tansey but waited till 12 hours before the window shut to put in an offer. In full knowledge we wouldn't have time to adequately replace him. I think we were more than dignified last summer with our captain/best player leaving to join them, our direct rivals, for free. Reading between the lines we've thrown our toys from the pram this time. But I do believe Aberdeen have shown a lack of respect to us with the very poor timing of the offer.

  35. My son was meant to be on bus 3 but slept in. We would be very interested in joining gellions buses and were hoping to go to Motherwell but I'm not sure what to make of this. It's a thankless task organising things but I know a lot of the young fans fairly well and consider them committed and a real asset to the club. £20 for a bus add ticket and food etc and it's a pretty expensive and long day so fair play to them for supporting their local team. This will hopefully all come to an amicable and successful conclusion.
    1 point
  36. Agree with most of that. I'd be interested to know why Aberdeen were meeting with the agent of one of our players and discussing transfer fees and release clauses when they had made no formal approach to us. EDIT: Don't know why some posters chose to be wankerish to a fan of another team. Seemed a fairly innocent question albeit at a time when peoples backs might be up.

As a born and bred Highlander, whos perspective has somewhat changed (and softened) a lot this past few years...i kinda find myself hoping County win the final and take the Cup back up north with them. BUT, i aslo happen to fully understand Old Caley Girl and others view, about County being a rival when it comes to being a hound for the locals pound. But...at the end of the day.....when it all boils down....its a sport..and really not worth investing any ill will towards anyone. Enough of that and worse, going on elsewhere.

  46. I seriously doubt that there is an agenda against the young guys using CJT nor is using it as an 'attention seeking statement'. Its very easy to side with the young lads when the full story isn't published. Like I said, I'm defending CJT over posters like you giving them unwarranted abuse when they put their heart and soul into the group.

  47. I notice some others have had a go at Pat Nevin, and quite rightly so. At one point he said something like 'if it stays eleven against eleven, Celtic are gonnae win.' I seem to remember in the highlights programme after the Big Cup semi final, he said almost exactly the same about our win over Celtic, referring, of course, to Craig Gordon's sending off. Bitter and repetitive, it seems.

  48. Parochial. Oh, the irony One or two people have mentioned that retirement has not done Charles any good. Maybe it's time for the winner of the Worst Poster Award to finally seek some badly-needed help. Living in the part of Scotland so despised by Mr Bannerman I would claim to be more in touch with what the place is like, and what people here think of the Highlands, than himself. Otherwise I would recommend seeking the opinion of such as Top Six, Alternative Maryhill, RedCard, ICTChris, ICTPaisley, KirkieRobRoy, Naelifts, Alex MacLeod etc, whose views would be more valid than those of a bitter, prejudiced wee mannie who uses juvenile phrases such as 'getting it right up the Central Belt' and who, on the evidence of his tedious, repetitive essays, never gets any further than Culbokie for his summer holidays.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

    • Inverness CT -V- Morton - Preview
Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.
