  1. Dumbfounded! We have just 8 players contracted for next season (and even one of those is suggesting he may have to leave!) yet we're not offering a contract to a proven defender that has publicly stated he wants to stay !

  2. Yes we must vote for David Raven as player of the year just to show Yogi what we think. Mind you he was going to get my vote anyway.

  3. Oh well, I know who I'll be voting for in tomorrow's Player of the Year vote.

  4. Disgraceful and short sighted decision by a manager rapidly losing the plot but given Yogi's history at Falkirk and Hibs, sadly no surprise. The fact that this thread is now ten pages long without a dissenting voice is clear evidence that all but one think that the club's fortunes will be improved by Raven being offered a new contract. Unfortunately, that one person is the person with the ultimate say so. Dave's only crime is not having been a Hughes signing.

  5. Raven for manager.

  6. I'll be renewing. I'll support the club first and foremost, regardless of stupid managerial decisions.

  8. In tomorrow's P&J Yogi confirms Raven will be released. An absolutely repulsive decision.

  9. Would there be merit in keeping Richie as assistant manager and freeing up Brian Rice's salary for the player budget whilst having the ability to bring on Richie from the bench should he remain fit ?

  10. Although I am disgusted with what has happened I agree with Fraz. We support the club no matter what. Managers come and go and hopefully this one will be gone soon. Shoes off.....

  12. I am afraid this just shows how utterly clueless John Hughes is..He is going to dismantle this team and replace it with utter dross..With any luck the hibs job might be up for grabs tomorrow..

  13. Where is it documented that Foran is the highest earner at the club? It would be a shame to see him go but we've not really missed him over the last couple of seasons have we? Whilst it's always sad to see a club icon move on retaining someone like Storey over Foran is what we've got to look to do. If he is one of the higher earners, and I'm sure he is, his wages would be far better spent on a Storey or getting Mckay back i.e. a player not at the end of his career.

  14. If Richie Foran is wanting to leave the club then things are definitely not well at the club in my opinion. I always thought that the plan was for him to take the reigns, clearly not now then.

  17. Disgrace. JH needs to remember that Rave was instrumental in providing him with his finest moment - that last gasp goal against Celtic in the semi. That's not to say that DR's contribution was a flash in the pan - rather that his goal was the culmination of a good professional footballer, who deserved everything that came his way. I'm afraid I too am considering ST renewal. I've found our brand of football boring and have been baffled by Yogi's recruitment and retention policy. I can count on one hand the number of games this season that I can suggest were entertaining. Why he'd consider ditching our only decent right back ... And a guy that clearly wants to stay here.....is suicidal. We only have 8 players for next season, and one of them might also be on his bike ffs! Depressed.

  19. I'm really pi$$ed and it's nit just the beers I've had. Raven and Foran both possibly leaving. What's going on? We spoke to Richie a few weeks ago and he loves it here his wife has a business along with another players wife There seems to be something really wrong just now. Whether it's Hughes or maybe all the players who knows? My season ticket renewal arrived today and of course I will renew long with IBM and others who sit together in the North Stand but I don't envisage many new holders at this rate . It's enough to drive you to drink to be sure
    3 points
  20. Totally agree. I know quite a few long term season ticket holders who are proposing not to renew but instead just pick and choose their games. The days have gone when you would be struggling to get a ticket for any league or cup game. What a difference a year makes, we have failed to capitilise on last year's massive success.

  21. You should be free to express any opinion you want about the Queen or Religion in a free country without fear of imprisonment. No exceptions. Football Clubs as private institutions should be able to set house rules and kick you out for breaking them. But the Police and Courts should have absolutely nothing to do with it.

  22. I can't remember a worse time for the club trying to sell them. We don't actually have a team to come and support. Legends are being dispersed with at the same time contracts are running out and no news at all of anyone coming in. The manager and the board are completely at loggerheads. What a time to be alive.

  23. I admire your confidence, Ywingie, but the sense I get is that the plan is that there is no plan! See what happens and see who we've got left (that Yogi rates and wants to stay) and patch up the holes after the end of the season. If we're short of strikers and defenders...invest in midfielders because "they're right good footballers" instead. Not my idea of planning, I'm afraid.

  28. He is contracted for next season on a full salary so would be unlikely to agree to such an arrangement going into the last season or two of his career. However, the suggestion he wants to leave is just the latest in a series of indications that all is not well behind the scenes.

  29. Would be a shame to see him go, but where exactly do we play him? We can't break up the the Draper and Tansey partnership, and you wouldn't put him with them in a 3 man midfield because they're all defensively minded. I wouldn't mind seeing in him rotated in the first team, he's a solid CM and is brilliant in the air as well as being a great motivator, but can we afford to keep a player on high wages in a squad rotation system? Probably not. As stated above, we might be better off spending are money on attacking players.

  31. Caley Thistle captain Richie Foran hints at summer departure Doesn't sound like a happy place to be at the moment. The board are saying to Yogi we want our business done before the summer, Yogi saying he doesn't have the resources to get players in and players leaving left, right and centre. I'm not one for hitting the panic button but things sound like a shambles at the moment I know football is renowned for highs and lows but what a turnaround from last season! The board need to either come out and tell Yogi to get on with it and stop bad-mouthing the club in the press or they need to move onto a manager who can sign players within our budget.

  34. Ten days ago Yogi said Foran had a 'prominent role to play next season' Here. Now Foran seems to have the impression that he won't be used much and would in that case would rather go. This is also after about 18 months of talk of Foran eventually taking over including some quotes from Yogi saying he'd be willing to stand aside if Foran wanted the job. This is just weird and once again suggests that things behind the scenes are less than rosy at the moment.

  35. Hibs are the most likely to finish above us in the league, so I'd prefer either of the other two (but Raith would have been my first choice, for that and various other reasons). Falkirk freshens things up, is closer for us to get to, and they'd probably bring more fans up to TCS as well.

  36. I don't think environment comes into it, unfortunately it's symptomatic of our game as a whole and the lack of respect players show towards officials at times borders on disgusting. Yes it may vary slightly from team to team and we all like to think our players don't do it but in truth they all do. May I just add, before someone shoots me down, yes officials at times don't help themselves and are very arrogant themselves but at the end of the day they are officials, without them the game would not be played. I didn't see any of the game and wouldn't watch them anyway but it could all be bourne on frustration on the part of RC wanting to do well and trying to impress on one of his few first team outings but not getting the decisions. Arrogance is good in a player if harnessed in the correct manner, the worlds best are the most arrogant and it's all formed from the hype they get and how much they are pushed by coaches to believe they are good and can be better.

  37. You obviously have a blind spot. I give you Russell Duncan, Ian Black, Barry Robson, Ian Vigurs (both times), Ritchie Foran, Phil McQuire, Graeme Shinnie, Charlie Christie, Paul Cherry etc. All able to act in a less than gentlemanly manner.

  38. My late father used to talk about a supposed actual event at Grant Street Park. The stand-side lineman felt something strike his shoulder, and when he glanced down, he saw something roughly circular on the ground. He assumed it was a pie ... until it started to move off. Someone had lobbed a live tortoise at him.

  40. How entertaining our football is appears to have little bearing on our attendances. We played some wonderful stuff last year, the most attractive and entertaining style we've ever had, and yet our attendances this year haven't improved and may have dropped.

  41. I once saw a drunk bloke throw his pie but it disintegrated over spectators before it reached the pitch, like a meteor breaking up in the atmosphere but with out the flames, or the spectacular lights, or the noise, or trail that follows, OK it was kind of like a pie falling apart.

  45. By 'Blazers' are you referring to the succession of individuals who, for no personal reward, have kept the club solvent and on a generally upward trajectory under a succession of managers for a decade and a half. We cannot spend what we don't have. We did that once before under the Doug McGilvray regime and it brought us to the brink of administration. These blazers have given more John Hughes more money than any other ICT manager before him. Who is to blame if he has squandered much of that on too many players, including an over abundance of midfielders who are not up to the mark ?

  46. I'm with your main thrust but can't quite grasp the need to make the class distinction. If a law applies to everyone, then I don't see how the "working classes" (stupid term anyway since almost everyone apart from those living on benefits works) are specifically discriminated against. My main issue with this law is that it discriminates against football. Meanwhile the likes of the Orange Order - whose raison d'etre is aggressive anti-Catholicism - strut the streets with their umbrellas and bowler hats and with total impunity. On the other hand, if this legislation is merely a means of getting the Old Firm to behave themselves, then maybe it's got something to commend it. And if the claim is that this is discrimination against the OF - well let's just look on that as a a quid pro quo for the preferential treatment they get elsewhere!

  47. The awards will only be looking at events on the park and not off it so on that basis I think PerfICT sums it up well. 10 points out of a possible 15 ain't bad. But whilst acknowledging that on a results basis the award is justified, I think it is also fair to say that criticism of Hughes is justified on 4 separate but related issues. Firstly, with the players we have at our disposal we should have done better than we have. This year has seen the top flight as weak as it has ever been. Playing players out of position does not help. Secondly, the style of play has often be very negative and boring to watch. But apart from being boring, it is also ineffective which relates to the first point. When the possession at all costs approach is abandoned and we start being more positive going forward, we play better, we get better results and it is more entertaining. There are at least some signs now that this lesson is being learnt. Thirdly, Hughes has too often been critical of his players or the Board in the media and seems to lack the humility to take responsibility himself for the teams failings. Finally, he has been poor in the retention and recruitment of players. He bemoans the fact that we have lost the likes of Shinnie, Watkins and Mckay but he has failed to replace them with anyone as good despite having a significantly bigger budget than his predecessor. And despite the larger budget, he is having difficulty retaining some players and seems not inclined to sign others that fans clearly want to see retained. Manager of the Month maybe. But that does not mean he's a good manager.

  49. Second time I've got a red dot for saying the same thing? Unless it's for showing negativity to the steward? no, I never tbh, didn't think anything more of it until I saw him having a drama with the young team. not sure about regular, but he was at the last home game too, took a bottle of water off a guy and tried taking a bottle of juice off a young lassie but he clearly didn't want to get into that minefield!

    • Kelty Hearts Training Statement
What a farce we have become, a laughing stock: Did you hear the one about the footbal team from the Highlands of Scotland that want to train at Cowdenbeath? Unfortunately, unlike our board, this is not a joke. Our board are trying to rip our identity from the Highlands and replace it with shared training at Kelty Hearts. I kid you not, this is not a drill and the clowns that run our club appear to be delighted at this coup.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb
