"Notts County have sacked manager Ian McParland after almost two years in charge of the League Two club.

McParland, who took over as boss in October 2007, has guided the Magpies to fifth in the table this season.

But speculation about his future has been rife since the summer takeover by Middle East consortium Munto Finance.

Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was named director of football and the club's backers have revealed ambitious plans to reach the Premier League.

McParland spent eight years as a player at Meadow Lane, scoring 90 goals in 267 appearances"

Is this any suprise? I knew as soon as the consortium took charge that he wouldnt last long. He isnt high profile enough for these Middle easteners. Its a discrace as they are 5th in a highly competitive league. Thing couldnt have been easy for the guy considering hes the manager yet the director is getting more publicity. I feel sorry for him. Things like this is helping ruin football.

Terry Butcher will take the job

The Notts County board wouldn't be stupid enough to offer him the job .

They gave Sol Campbell a job

...and Eriksson possibly going to that doyen of freedom and justice, North Korea. I struggle to believe anyone with the slightest hint of ethics would consider anything to do with this regime for a bit of money. I'm usually above sport and politics but not in this case. It'd be like managing Nazi Germany.
