  1. Have we turned a corner? We will know in a couple of weeks, but what I took from today was the positive attitude of the players who were really in the mood and clearly wanting it, playing for themselves, each other and for us fans. When Mckay hit the post very early on, it was our first sight of goal and in previous weeks we may have passed rather than having a shot. Ridgers’ complaints at the goal also exemplified the positivity. Cove got three corners in succession and we should have got fouls at the second and third, the goal coming from the third with Devine poleaxed on the ground. I was worried then, but we took control and deservedly got back in it. Two great free kicks from Welsh resulted in goals from Mckay and Devine, then a Cove handball let Mckay make it 3-1 before the break. Then Christmas arrived late with two own goals making it very comfortable. The first came from a positive Mackay run and it may have been going in anyway. The second was a comedy of errors. Mckay then got his hat trick to finish the scoring. We then finished with four youngsters on the park and were still outplaying Cove. As I said, the attitude impressed me most and hopefully that continues on Saturday and beyond. We thoroughly outplayed Cove and have set a standard we must maintain, although it must be said that Cove were very poor, particularly after the break. I’m no happy clapper, but let’s enjoy today and if we can put a run together we can get back in the mix at the top. It is Arbroath next and they turned Dundee over today, so we need to approach next week as we did today. Well done to all 16 who got game time today. I was impressed by Henderson who put a few good crosses in and has decent pace. We also defend much better when Devine plays. He was talking the defence through the whole game. And great to see Mckay get a hat trick.

  2. Cove competed for the first 30 minutes or so and then drifted out of the game after going behind. A good effort to come from behind with a helping hand from Cove on a few occasions the boy Henderson on loan put quite a few good crosses into the box and looks like he could be a good addition. A well earned 3 points much needed. Ridgers made a couple of excellent saves so good to see him getting warmed up

  3. Likewise, I feared the worst when we went 1-0 down. But, well done to the team. Maybe this is just the shot in the arm that we've needed. Looking forward to comments from those at the game. Onwards and upwards!

  4. Full time. 6-1 Congratulations to the team! Hope this is the beginning of something good.

  6. Let's get real here, Dodds won't be sacked until his contract is up or we are in real danger of being relegated. Don't think relegation is likely at all. Injuries have impacted on our performances this season and nobody can seriously dispute that. However, Dodds needed to change tactics and set us up as being hard to beat with the players he had available. He didn't however, just like last season when we had our bad run and he kept on playing the same way even when obvious it wasn't working. He is either too stubborn to listen to criticism or just plain stupid tactically with my money on the latter. Promotion has probably gone this season again thanks to Dodd's ineptitude again so we need to change both him and the current coaching team as soon as is financially possible.

  7. That was an afternoon when everything went our way, against a pretty hapless Cove. That said 6 goals against any opponents is an achievement nowadays. Nice one, certainly cheered up a freezing afternoon.

  8. It is against a team we should be beating convincingly week in week out . Law of averages we surely have to win the odd game in 12 as do the likes of Arbroath , Hamilton etc . Football has been horrendous this year injuries or not . He in my eyes is absolutely clueless and way out of his depth. Is it really worth hanging on to him ? Is it not worth getting rid now and hopefully climbing up the table with someone that knows how to manage , Thus reaping the financial rewards of finishing higher up the table than gambling that this clown somehow manages to keep us in the league ? Amazing how the happy clappers get 1 win and it’s how wonderful things are . SHORT memories!!

  9. I don't think anyone seen that scoreline coming. Hopefully it's a result to build on.

  11. Well done ICT and Billy Mackay for hat trick.I thought the worst when we went 1-0 down having missed three good chances early on.Fair play the boys dug deep and we went in at half time 3-1 up.Confidence returned and the boys showed what they can do.I thought new boy Jay Hendrson did well. Billy showed what he can still do.I think Cove keeper was suspect throughout.Their standout was Longstaff who caused us problems in the first half. All in all a great start to 2023

  13. Return of Ridgers and Devine making a big difference with their experience. Hopefully this is a corner turned. Regardless of other injuries a spine of Ridgers, Devine, Welsh and Mckay is very strong for the Championship. If they are fit there should be no excuses for seeing any more of the insipid performances we've seen recently.

  14. My first game since before Covid. And what a game to return on! We made a decent start but you could see Cove coming back into it and the goal from a corner was looking inevitable as we looked so poor defending them. But I thought we always looked quite fluent going forward today and turned it around for 3-1 at HT. The second half was fun but I thought Billy Aaron were outstanding linking together and showing their quality and experience. The gap to Queens Park at the top is 10pts so not completely gone but hard but only 4pts back to the play offs. One win doesn’t mean it’s all rosey in the garden but still plenty to look forward too if this is a beginning of something.

  17. Should be enough today for the happy clappers to want BD to get a contract extension I guess. Surprising the winning margin but doesn't change my opinion on the club hierarchy.

  21. You make a good point Dougal, I like this forum and always have a check on it at around this time of night though I don't always post on it, mainly as I don't want to unnecessarily fall out with members and mods on here as has happened in the past. Tbh I have watched a lot more Rugby this past couple of years, in fact I've watched more Rugby this past fortnight than football, I didn't even watch the world cup apart from bits here and there and also, the new Tennis season is in full swing now so I always watch that especially this time of the year when it's in Australia :). I want to wish all a Happy New year and am making this promise: This year I'm going to try very hard to not fall out with members and try to get liked more , I have a comedic sense of humour which I'd like you peeps to see lol.

  22. Just had a look, I think it was Billy at Elgin in the Challenge Cup in 2021. Last hattrick in the League seems to be Nathan Austin v Dumbarton almost 5 years ago.

  26. Well where did that come from? Congrats to all and great for Billy to nab the hat-trick. Hopefully not a dead cat bounce as Arbroath will be well up for us next. Win that one and it’s quite a dramatic turnaround in fortune.

  27. The jury is out for me. If we go on a run now we will all be delighted. If we don’t and revert to how we were in recent weeks, that’s a different story. Either way, I can’t see a change coming until the end of the season. And that’s not happy clapping, just realism. I will be continuing to give the players my support and I really liked their attitude today.

  28. This quote sums todays game up for me - it wasn't the most skillful game and we were outclassed in the first half, but I loved the fact that the team were so keen to have a go at goal this week, rather than time wasting passing to others and giving our opponents time to get their defence organised. Take your chances when they come boys and all will be well. Could another reason for ICT's outstanding win today be the return to the stadium of Lional Nessie? Great to see him/her on such jolly form and they could be our lucky charm.

  30. I'd be going along if I could, but unfortunately I am an addition to the fans' injury list having slipped on the ice a couple of days and landed on my back. I can barely walk to the loo, let alone the stadium. Hopefully no slip ups from the team today and we can get back to winning ways. Hoping for the best but fearing the worst though.

  31. Ridgers back. Devine and Henderson also start but Oakley and Boyd only experienced outfield players on the bench: Presumably Carson will be at right back: Is Barrett released after his short term contract as he’s not in the squad?

  32. Same here .Season ticket holder for many many years and always try arrange everything around home games . Day after new year and not much to do this afternoon but i certainly WON’T be there watching that clueless clown try manage a team. Enough is enough for me and apparently many . Soul destroying watching that crap week in week out .

  33. I hope that, if we get Dawson on loan, he's a 6ft plus target man, because that's the only way he'll fit into the Dodds Hoofball style of football. You can bet your bottom dollar that Jim Mcintyre will have done his homework on us, and know our weaknesses, there are plenty, so it's up to Dodds to come up with a plan to compete with them on the day, something that he hasn't managed to achieve in most games. The lads that he's brought back have been playing in the tough world of the Highland League and Scottish lower league, so if they're not ready now for a game, when will they?

  35. I’m not a big fan of the roof on the west stand idea. I think it’s a bit pathetic that we’d be looking to raise funds for a roof when we have plenty of room else where in the stadium that’s covered. The club is struggling financially at the moment and instead of focussing on that we have certain fans wanting some sort of identity. It’s a waste of everyone’s time in my opinion and that isn’t going to benefit many. Who needs a roof anyway? I used to spend my youth up and down the bridge side at games moving depending on where we were shooting. I’m rarely up at the stadium these days as I only go to Away games but is that a possibility these days?

  36. As harsh as it sounds I was also thinking this. The Championship is a tough league, will young loan signings flourish in it? Fit in with Dodds's punt it up the park type s###e football? Probably not. Good luck to them though. Unfortunately, I can't find any positive thoughts at the moment about our team. Staying up this season will be about the sum of it.

  37. Worried that we seem to be chasing young loan signings. We already have plenty of prospects in that department, what we need is some experienced players/leaders on the park to compliment them. Actually, what we need is a new leader in the dugout, but

  38. We've been linked with Celtic youngster Joey Dawson on loan for the rest of the season. 19 year old striker.

  39. Were you really though? The guy is an excuse merchant scrambling about for anything now his limited ability at this level is caught out. Excuses such as they are not match fit/physically or technically ready for this level, need time to integrate and gel etc will all be rolled out - he's playing the fans like a political spin doctor and many are lapping it all up.

  41. It’s been a tough year for us Caley Thistle fans, and there is discontent amongst the fans, and quite possibly the players too. This forum gives us an outlet for our views and allows us to discuss and debate what is going on. A massive thank you to Scotty, the mods and all involved in the site: we appreciate what you do. We sadly lost Kingsmills recently, which poignantly reminds us that there are more important things than football. A very Merry Christmas to all and, when it arrives, a Happy New Year (and hopefully one that enthuses us positively about our club and its future). Have a great time all! Cheers!

  42. Merry Christmas to one and all. Whether I know you or not, whether I agree with you or not, the best wishes are the same. Having said that, I do want to take a moment to call out a few folk personally - TM4TJ especially. Without his straight talking editorial style and dedication the site would be a far lesser place. He does this diligently and without any help a lot of the time. Thank You !! Similarly, Gringo, IBM, MrCaleyJag and ICTEWD who run various aspects of the site in the foreground or background. Also, the moderators - Mantis, Yngwie, & RiG who keep things running, keep spammers of our member list, and nudge folks back into line where needed, and finally those on our editorial team who contribute what they can, when they can. It takes quite a few people to keep things ticking over and we are blessed to have a great bunch doing so. Finally, as I take a moment to raise a glass to you all in celebration, I also want to remember those we have lost in 2022. On the site, as we know we lost Kingsmills and he will be sorely missed, and fondly remembered by most, even those who crossed swords with him from time to time. On a personal level, I also lost a dear friend, a dedicated ICT supporter, and my best man, who was definitely someone who fitted that title. I will raise an extra glass to you both.

  46. I've completely lost interest in the club sadly. I contemplated going today but that was after 6 pints, woke up and same as previous week's I can't be bothered. I've been a fan since 2005 and not bought a season ticket since 2018. From top to bottom the club is a shambles. I would honestly prefer the club to go part time and blood talented young players from the youth system.

  47. In this day and age, you'd think clubs (not just us) would be more cautious of what information they were providing for minors. We're told not to put even the most basic of child's info online, but here we have; a photo, full name, age, school and all the interests a potential groomer would need to get chatting to them!

  48. Totally. As it stands I don't feel like going to the Cove game. Sad when I'm a long standing season ticker holder.
