trying to add stuff lik a avatar to my profile but get this message

What "stage" are you at when you try and add the avatar? If I mind right you change the avatar by navigating to Profile > Edit My Profile > Change Avatar > then choose your avatar > Save Changes.

When I click on the button to get me to my profile I get the message in post number 1

due to some people (spammers or previously banned users) abusing the registration process a new account has limited permissions for the first 14 days. One of the limitations is profile customisation.
