Anybody else heard this one. I believe it comes from ex-coaching staff, and it is that Rankins wages must match the highest paid player in the team :33:

Highly unlikely this is true as Rankin would have no legal claim for the club to disclose what is being paid to other players making it impossible for it to be included in any contract he has with the club.

I believe this sub-rumour has arisen from the previous rumour that Rankin was (at the time) signed on an equal footing with the highest paid players at the club.
