On the official website it says that Niculae has had his permit granted and should make his debut on Saturday against Motherwell!  :021: Fantastic news.

Just read it and it's brilliant news. We should now put out a different blend on Saturday but Motherwell will be ready for us. As supporters it is great to have the chance to see a player of Marius's quality at the Caledonian Stadium - playing for us!!

And thanks ICT29 for notifying it first.

Thanks also to Ray Stewart, Pat Nevin, Ray Cormack and Fraser Wishart for seeing sense and puting Highland football in a stronger footing :clapping03: :021:

now that niculae has his permit, does that mean that Rory McCallister might not play for the first team again??

Some light at the end of the tunnel after all.

Lets hope he lives up to the billing as he will be under more scrutiny now after this hassle.

Not the most flattering picture on the main page of this website  :015:

Remind anyone of the Goonies  :023:

Or this guy --->  :017:

EDIT: The picture has focused itself now, so it doesn't look quite as bad.

Heres what he had to say from the official site if ye cannae access it:-

NICULAE WORK PERMIT GRANTED

Marius Niculae, 28 times capped by Romania, has been told by an SFA

tribunal that he is clear to play for Inverness Caledonian Thistle

            with immediate effect.

The good news came today after a one-hour hearing at Hampden Stadium

at which Marius himself answered questions and stressed his reason

for coming to Scotland and Inverness is to win back his

            international place.

The tribunal featured former Scotland internationals Ray Stewart,

Pat Nevin and Peter Cormack plus Fraser Wishart of footballers union

FIFPRO and two officials from the Home Office.

Chairman Alan Savage said:"We felt we had a very good hearing but

were told to go away and a decision would be notified within two

hours. That was a very nail-biting period as we waited on the

            outcome.

"But all our efforts have been worthwhile and Marius can be

available for the Motherwell game on Saturday if selected.

"Manager Charlie Christie spoke very well as we outlined the club's

case that this was a player of proven quality who we could not

source in Scotland. I felt Marius made a favourable impression, with

his good command of English and his emphasis that he did not see

Inverness as a short-term destination but one in which he could play

well enough to wear Romania's colours again."

Marius commented:"It was very nerve wracking but I'm thrilled to get

the green light. I can now concentrate on doing my best for the

club. I'm very grateful to all the supporters who have backed me. I

hope to repay them with goals for Caley Thistle."

Now that this is settled let's hope CC gets his finger out to bring in a defender of similar quality :021:

We've got an imposter!! According to TeamTalk.com, this is what the real Marius Niculae looks like!

Either that, or its incredibly lazy journalism. It is the picture that goes along with the 'Caley gets green light for Niculae" tag line though...

I think that's Daniel Niculae who also plays for Romania.  Don't know if he's any relation though.

When all the discussion was ongoing about the signing of Niculae we had a few differing opinions on the situation.  I had thought we might have got one or two people posting that it would be some kind of "blessing in disguise" if he wasn't to get his permit but I was glad to be wrong in that regard and I think I am right in saying that every person regardless of their thoughts on us signing him initially was in support of the appeal.  :clapping03:

Despite the views of some that things like the petition are a waste of time it was good to see Niculae acknowledge the support the fans gave him.  As he said himself, he hopes to repay the support he received with goals - you can't buy that kind of incentive and here's to a very successful season for Niculae and ICTFC.  :021:
