Its not sectarian, bigoted, racist or unlawful in any other way and is only partially inaccurate given that Hearts already went bust rather than 'are going bust'. I really cant see how he might have been seen to "act in any manner which is improper or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour" which is what the charge reads.

You could argue to using insulting words at best perhaps ... but is the truth insulting in this context? Personally I think the SFA are overstepping the mark here and crossing the line into civil liberties.

Disciplinary Rule 86: Not acting in the best interests of Association Football by singing in public about Heart of Midlothian FC in administration.

Principal hearing date: Thursday, 24th April 2014
 
Rule 86: A recognised football body, club, official, Team Official, other member of Team Staff, player, match official or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall, at all times, act in the best interests of Association Football . Furthermore such person or body shall not act in any manner which is improper or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour.

 

I'm thinking some upstart official is just looking at the first part of rule 86. At the end of the day Griffiths should not be letting himself get into situations where controversy prevails.

Silly season really, but the real question is what is Neil Lennon going to do, and Celtic, after they publicly said they would sack ANYONE caught doing something like this. If they applied that logic to their own fans, there would be none left
