And how long does it stay up for? Most come down shortly after all the fun and games are over, especially natural ones which start to look a bit pathetic after a while. But I've a neighbour who keeps his artificial one up for weeks, illuminating the winter nights from his living room window.

Like Georgias above, it tends to be her indoors that decides when it goes up,how long it stays up, where i should put it and if there's a mess on the floor,i have to clear it up before visitors arrive ;)

How times have changed. As a child the big build up started on christmas eve when the family worked together to get the tree and decorations up. It was usually the first day of the school holiday and the real start to christmas. Nowadays neighbours are competing to see who's first. I've seen tree's in window's since mid november. There's just no meaning, or family fun, any more.

Couldn't agee more Alex hence the reason that out decorations are not going up until a fortnight today despite the kids protesting that most of their friends houses are festooned already.
