Anyone know why?

I was sitting watching the build up to the Champs league final, when it showed footage of the Olympic Stadium (Bayerns old home) filled up with bayern fans, watching the game on Big Screens. I got to wondering, why is that stadium still standing. Id have thought it would have been flattened after Bayern left. Anyone know what, if anything, its being used for?

Taken from Wiki

Following the Olympics, the stadium became the home of FC Bayern Munichh. In 1979 the ground played host to the 1979 European Cup Finall in which Nottingham Forestt won the first of their consecutive European Cup's under Brian Cloughh.

In the 1990's Bayern Munich's rivals TSV 1860 Munichh moved into the stadium. The two teams coexisted in the Olympiastadion until 2005, when both clubs moved to the purpose built Allianz Arenaa.

Since 2005, it is the host of the yearly air and stylee snowboard event.

On December 31, 2006, the stadium made history as being the first venue to host the Tour de Skii cross country skiingg competition. The individual sprint events, held at 1100 m, were won by Norwayy's Marit Bjørgn (women) and Switzerlandd's Christoph Eigenmannn (men). The snow was made in the stadium by combining the hot air with the cold refrigerated water that causes the snow to act like the icy type you would see in the Alps.

It went unused in the 2006 FIFA World Cup due to the Allianz Arena being the host stadium in Munich.

On June 23 to June 24, 2007, the stadium played host to the Spar European Cup 20077, a yearly athletics event featuring the top 8 countries from around Europe.

As Tichy says.......it's more like a wee village. I was there a couple of years ago. It's one of the highest bits of Munich. They piled all the bomb debris there from the war.

Was out there a few weeks back on a beer and sausage frenzy, Olympic park has stood the test of time well and is still pretty impressive, located beside it are the Olympic swimming pool and ice arena which hosts concerts etc and landscaped gardens, ponds etc, also the comms tower built for the olympics and across the road the BMW factory, good day out touring the lot, works up a fair thirst for the Haufbraue hoose :-)
