SPL voting structure

Apparently during the voting process to determine whether the voting structure of 11-1 should be overturned or not, it is reported that Aberdeen & Celtic voted against. It's obvious based on the distribution of money etc why Celtic want the status quo - but what is the motivation for Aberdeen?

Am I missing a fundamental point as to why the Dons like the other 10 teams would benefit with a new structure in place?

The only team that would benefit financially from the status quo is the team that gets 2nd place. Are Aberdeen that confident?

If so then that's VERY short term (potentially) - the orcs could be back in 3 years taking that 2nd place, so in theory the Dons could only be one of the big 2 for that time - very short-sighted if that's the case. This could be one of few opportunities to revolutionise the system - longer it takes the further Scottish football will fall behind IMO.

Presumably Aberdeen like the position whereby they only need to find one other club to agree with them to veto any change they are opposed to? I doubt it's anything to do with perceived league position, but as you both say it's pretty negative for Scottish football.

Maybe they've been bribed by organizations outside football who are interested in retaining the current state of terms?

Why any club other than Celtic would vote against changing the current voting structure utterly defeats me. I continue to despair over the state of Scottish football.

I'm apoplectic some greedy SPL club thinks they'll take over 2nd spot, get a bit of money for a time, then Rangers come back in and it's back to what it was before. What a waste.

Redistribute money so SPL clubs can keep youth such as Allen, Fyvie etc (why don't the SPL clubs play youngsters? Because they all get to England at the first opportunity), whilst the top clubs can get the best of the SPL, not paying tens of thousands a week to Czech, Spanish etc players

Same as it was in the past. The Dons, Hibs etc have decent youngsters and a few good journeyman to compete. The top clubs pick them up when beginning to establish. A good exciting league.

The league is more exciting than it ever was. With McCoist complete duff, there may be a few different teams winning silverware. A little change and we've got our Scottish football back again - competitive and with future hope. Youngsters today must be amazed that, in the eighties, Aberdeen and Dundee United were European powers. We could do that again and it would be better for everyone.
