Personal view is survival first. 8th fine for me. All this talk of promotion play offs scares me and giving last season vibes.

Let's see how we go....

Agreed - lets chase the team in front of us, and if and when we overtake them, then chase the team in front of that. Survival this year is the aim in my head, especially considering we will also start next season with a points penalty so that would make any Championship task even harder.

Spot on, OCG. The supreme objective for this season must be to take 8th place, with 9th plus a playoff next best. A place above 8th might be possible but I personally look on reaching the top four as highly improbable and thinking about it isn’t worth the resulting deflection from the survival push. The Scottish Cup was also secondary, notwithstanding the chance of making a few quid from it. (If ICT had beaten Cove, a winnable but highly unprofitable tie at Clydebank would have awaited.)

I sense the optimism is part relief we are still here, and part the sense the team playing with more purpose and positivity now 'Big Dunc' has left the building...however what's left is a fragile tiny squad, if we have a Dodds-era injury crisis we might barely get a team on the pitch. So the one game at a time, one positioned climbed at a time is the most realistic approach.

But then when have football fans ever been realistic?
