I think a large part of the issue comes about as a result of segregation. Yes, their were certain events/issues that led to it's introduction, but I think in the long term it has created more problems than it solved.

Never fails to amaze me that you can go to Basketball, Rugby, Hockey, Shinty, Ice Hockey....in fact, just about any other spectator sport and not have segregation and not have any trouble, but that there's this almost incessant need for it at football...football fans demand to be caged...I don't think I will ever understand why.

I tend to agree that the SPL should allow a more flexible approach so that clubs ought to be able to decide whether segragation is necessary on a match by match basis.
