  1. I know we are all down tonight and being rightly critical, but at risk of being shot down, now is the time the players need us as their 12th man. For all of us, let's get behind them in the next six games and do all we can to salvage our season and keep our top league status. If we can achieve that, we can then debate who our Manager and players should be, but for now we have what we have and need to do our bit in our bid to survive. Recent years have been good, despite the agony of the penalty kick loss at Parkhead in the League Cup. I will never forget the cup semi at Hampden, and us all joining in with the chants of "stand up for the Caley Jags". Now, more than ever, we need that spirit and support, not just in Section E but in the full stadium. Then there was the cup final.... My best ever day as a fan..... The best hangover excuse ever. Europe was brief and I only managed the home game, but an experience for a small club like us. It all seems a lifetime ago, so much has changed in less than two years, but let's make our support count where if matters: at the games by being loud, positive and behind the players. We need to play our part. It's now or, I dread to think, possibly never!

  3. Richie means well and truly loves the club, but is having a shocker. If he truly loves the club he needs to admit defeat... But he won't and the board can't afford to sack him because 3 years' salary will cripple us. So, we'll slip into the darkness without a whimper on account of a poor appointment, combined with an arrogant/pig-headed manager who can't accept his limitations. The question is: Just how much damage can Richie do in 4 years? Part-time football? Almost certainly IMO.

  4. Hughes was at a very low ebb in his career, was unemployed and had nobody else rushing to employ him. Kevin MacDonald is in a very different position indeed. Yes, they wouldn't let him spend money we didn't have and that he knew we didn't have when he signed his lucrative contract only a few months before.

  5. Well.... having watched the highlights on the BBC website, we seemed to play OK for most of the match, in that most of the highlights were in our favour! Cole seemed to be having a decent game, and should have had a free kick, when he was sent off..obviously it looks like he completely lost his head, but I still think he should be playing after his suspension. The first St Johnstone goal was a classic case of a goalie pushing the ball away, only to send it to an away player. Their penalty was part muck up by two of our players, and rather soft (let's put it this way Wilfred Zaha at Palace never wins a penalty with that sort of challenge against him). Nothing going for us at the moment.

  6. And exactly what do you expect the board to say? They can either come out with the "full confidence in the manager and team" guff, and get laughed at. Or they can acknowledge that there are problems with the manager and the team, and thus pull out the last few threads of the rug from underneath them. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

  7. That will be the same board who steered the club to league cup final,Scottish cup win and Europe. Also the board who gave Hughes shed loads of money which he blew on s***e players admittedly. From another thread on this forum appears Ritchie is not on a 4 year contract so can be sacked with very little compensation. No big money hitters left in Inverness area who haven't been previously involved with the club so new ideas and management a must.

  8. Absolute garbage. Just because you like going on the pish in Ayr, Dumfries, etc.doesn't make this good for the club I'm any way. Relegation would be an absolute disaster, even more so if our neighbours stay up. The real blame here needs to reside at the door of the clueless, faceless board who are utterly invisible and show no direction, vision or aptitude to manage a Premiership club.

  9. Please go, right now. Abundantly clear that Foran cannot get much out of this team and does not have an aptitude for management. It's painful to watch someone so hopelessly out of their depth. Get an experienced manager in on a basic wage plus a 6 figure bonus if he keeps us up.

  10. Doran and mcnaughton are high paid crocks who have contributed little in comparison to what they have taken in salary, both are not worth the risk and should be moved on - Doran especially as for over 2 seasons he's hardly got near the pitch. We as a club cannot afford sentiment.

  12. Assuming no changes to the injury list, a 4-4-2 for me: Fon Williams McNaughton, Laing, McCart, Tremarco Polworth, Draper, Tansey, King Mckay, Fisher with Esson, Mckay, Horner, Mulraney, Ebbe, Anier and Boden on the bench.

  13. The board didn't win the scottish cup, take us into Europe or led us to our highest ever league finish. Butcher and Hughes take the credit for that. If what you state is true about Foran's contract why didn't this wonderful board sack him before now? Sorry but I still feel Sutherland is involved behind the scenes and until he and his cronies get out we will not attract anyone with money. They decided to appoint Foran so they are responsible for our situation. You just can't take credit for success and not take the rap for failure!

  14. The time for post mortems and rethinking where we are going will be at the end of the season. I can only imagine they are horrified at where we are, but the question is what they are capable of doing about it. Going down would seem to be the ideal time to bring a young ambitious manager who has shown some form already.

  15. sack the board dont sack the board the question is who appointed Ritchie the board did , so why not ask the board some serious questions and would be even better if they were answered as well .

  16. Just to pick up on something that was said on pie & bovril. In giving Richie a 4 year deal, it would have made obvious sense to have a relegation clause in it.

  17. We're screwed then. What exactly has he shown to deserve such loyalty? He should walk of his own accord after what he has done.

  18. I just think that this team has come to the end. In my mind we've had 2 main teams in our history. Steve Paterson/robertson/early Brewsters Barry Wilson, Bobby Mann, Charlie Christie team and the butcher/yogi team. Other teams have sussed out our players, tactics, strengths, weaknesses and formations. It's time for a total change and clearout. Time to start building the next successful ICT side. Wether that be Richie Forans or not.

  19. If it were down to me, less than a handfull of players would be retained. Tremarco, Mulraney and McNaughton would be deffo keeps. Doran, i would be tempted to give him one more season to see if things improved for him.....the others...im not so fussed about.

  22. The Board need to take action and at the very least make a club statement on Monday. The fans are the most important piece of any football club and i think they now more than ever deserve answers. The fans have been very patient with Richie but it is very clear it has not worked and he needs to go. If this was a bigger club the pressure from fans would have had Richie gone a long time ago. We need an experienced manager in until the end of the season just to give us a glimmer of hope and i think we all deserve that. Yes the board made a mistake by giving Richie such a long contract but if Richie does not walk the board themselves should dig deep to show they have this club and its future as no.1 priority.

  23. The manager, some of the players and the board must hang their heads in shame. How to fix it is a big question. - possibly 1. Get rid of Foran 2. Bring a strong fix it man like Butcher 3. make big changes ot the board structure 4. Replace the erring players.

  24. What happened in tunnel I heard was that he told the ref what he thought of his performance!(it wasn't complimentary). Just like a lot of the North stand who waited behind to boo & demonstrate there frustration & anger at the ref's **** poor performance. Probably give Fisher a 7 for the game. Found space, won balls, set up chances, work rate etc.....and boy is he an improvement over Anier. Pity Ritchie has FROZEN him out of the team for so long, considering Alex was fit and ready!!!.

  25. Fair play, Robert. The problem I'm having is that I don't recognise the team from one week to the next. Butcher and Hughes' success was built on consistency of selection and tactics. I have no association with the players or team this year - it seems to be a random group that is put on the park, which challenges loyalty. I'll be there to tge bitter end and will scream and shout to encourage, but boy they're making it hard!

  27. They'll all go. Part of what's wrong with the club is too many short term and loan signings. These players don't have the club at heart and it's demoralising for our own players who aren't getting game time as a result yet will be expected to pick up the pieces after these players have gone and left us in the sh*t!

  31. In two minds about todays performance. A) We played some of the best passing football I've seen this season, dominated the game for about 80 minutes and created enough chances to be 3 or 4 goals up. B) Failed to take any of our numerous chances, conceded soft goals, had no plan B and fell to pieces against an opponent who didn't even play well. It's the same story week after week. St Johnstone looked a very mediocre team there for the taking. That such a limited side are a whopping 24 points ahead of us tells the story of how pathetic a season we've had so far. Cole's red card was a disgrace. Yes the referee had a shocker, but FFS to continue hurling abuse at him even after he's just shown you a yellow for dissent is pub league stuff. That this happened literally seconds before he was about to be substituted sums up our luck at the moment. As the saying goes, when you're down the bottom absolutely nothing goes your way. If Warren got himself red carded in the tunnel that's also a disgrace. To be fair he's probably one of the most committed, passionate players to ever wear a Caley shirt and I can only imagine the frustration he was feeling out there but FFS man! This meltdown might actually be a blessing in disguise if it forces Foran (or whoever is managing us next week) to revert to a back 4 with Laing (NOT A MIDFIELDER!) at centre half. Can't deny that Warren is having a shocking season, but he's not alone in that regard (Draper, Vigurs, Fon Williams etc). For those saying he's 'done' I would say there's been a massive regression in performance levels across the board this season. A change in training methods, game preparation, system and tactics could be just the jump start he (and our whole team!) needs. The whole 'who should be bin next season' conversation currently taking place is putting the cart before the horse IMO.

  32. Decide to google "Stephen Finnie referee" to see what today's ref was about. One of the top hits was a Pie & Bovril thread headed "Stephen Finnie - Worst Referee in Scotland?" ... an entertaining and illuminating read. Had I read it beforehand, nothing at today's game would have been a surprise.

  33. Nah, he deserved more of a chance than that. To me, the 3-0 debacle at Hamilton at the end of January was when it became crystal clear that he couldn't organise or motivate the team.
    1 point
  34. He should have gone in November last year, when he lost the dressing room and said he's to blame. That's also when the players got together to see how they could improve things. They have all failed since then to kick on and climb the league. If I was in Richie's position at that time I would have walked to save what was left of my dignity. Now it's just ridiculous to let things go so far towards the Abyss. I really don't understand how the Board have keep faith in him so long.

  36. Did I miss anyone. Oh aye, wtf does Brian Rice do, get him off the wage bill now. Regards Mr Noah Happy Bunny xxx Edited to add....... Hats off to Tommy Wright who has once again shown that he can work miracles with a mediocre bunch of players. I'm almost convinced that season on season we have better individuals, but as a team and a stubborn one at that, St Johnstone buck the trend and rip up the form books every season. Well played them and Tommy Wright.

  37. Still shell-shocked and in a rip of a mood. First half, we were decent, but had that look of a team that had no confidence in front of goal, with hurried shots or taking too much time. Then the sucker punch, which was yet another soft goal. We were OK for spells in the 2nd half, but only created a couple of decent chances.....then.... WTF were the subs about?! Our best 2 players had been McCart and McNaughton....both subbed! Thee defence from then on was an utter mare. Cole's sending off was petty and stupid. Warren's in the tunnel is inexcusable and simply reflected his horror show for the last 20 min. The only good thing to come from today is that Foran will have to play McCart and Laing in a back four....but who knows what he'll do?! Foran should have fallen on his sword long ago if hereally loved the club as much as he claims. He is frankly deluded and clueless, but I'm afraid it is too late even of he were to do the honourable thing (which he won't). The game is up and my heart goes out to those that will lose their jobs as a consequence. If you add the youth academy to the likely list of casualties, the final link with the community will be broken. Things are so bad that I even think bringing in a certain Judas TB would be qoeth considering - and I absolutely hate him!

  38. Rice is the issue i would say. He sits most of the games and lets Foran get on with it. Did Foran have a choice in the picking him? Terry Butcher as a director of football role

  39. Grim stuff at TCS this afties. Im afraid all signs are that ICT are going down. There is just no sign of any hope, at the end of what has been a very draining season. As a matter of interest. Anyone like to hazard a guess as to how much it would take to pay Richie off now? For me...the Board has to take the lions share of the blame for where ICT find themselves. The Top League is not the place to hand a rookie manager a 4 year contract.
    1 point
  40. Or just carry on with the embrassment that is the management team now.not my first choice but who in there right mind in a job is going to take ours? Butcher nearly pulled it off last time signed half the players at the club and totally regrets leaving inverness.this is not a time for grudges this is a time for survival.

  41. Time for foran to go. Give him a lesser position at the club where he can't affect what's happens on the park. If he has any loyalty for the club he would leave like Charlie did. That being said foran is not the source of the problem, the caley thistle board are the main problem. #sacktheboard #foranout

  42. He doesn't have the ability to get us from the Championahip back up to the top flight. We are however tied, in that he was given a 4 yr contract!!!!!! The board should apologise at the end of the season for their bad appointment based on finances and convenience.

  43. RF should do the decent thing and pack his bags. I'd rather have 6 games without a manager than continue with what is happening.
    1 point
  44. 4pts behind with 6 games left. We play our now closest rivals motherwell twice and need wins in both games just to hopefully get off the bottom spot. 1 win in 21 games until now and a team bereft of ideas and confidence. Foran should walk tonight and the club seek Rice to step up or tell him to go too and we see what happens, I think ithts safe too say he's lost the dressing room and the players, so sadly we need change now. The foran fan boys will say he can turn it round, he was a great player etc but in the last 3 years his only telling contribution to the club is to make us an on field shambles.

  45. Our demise has been rapid, but the decline has been coming for a while. Without massive funding it's never going to be easy. With the crowds we get every home game it's impossible. As rig said about County, they are unsustainable. Unfortunately the same could be said about us. We simply can not afford the quality of player at Inverness as quality players come at a cost. That's why we get skimmed every year by Aberdeen. Money talks I'm afraid, don't give me this bullshit about players looking for a new challenge. I'll give them a new challenge, try earning money away from the game. Anyway, there's still a way out of this mess for this season, a season where the board thought it was a great idea to give a rookie manager with nothing on his CV the unenviable task of keeping a sliding Inverness in the Premiership. Should we fail this season, I, like others, fear for our future. Or will it be a case of cutting our cloth to suit the division we are in. Obscurity beckons. On a brighter note, the sun is out.

Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.
