I didn't want Butcher here in the first place as I thought he wasn't up to the job , the slight blip of relegation apart I think he's done a great job and proved me wrong big time . All the best Terry if you leave .
  2. Not convinced Kenny Shiels will want to travel the A9 that much.

I think the BBC has got it all wong because I am told Chinese State Television has been broadcasting Terry saying he has agreed tactics for the game on Saturday but is not telling anyone. 61 year old Rick Chung, speaking exclusively from his Wok in Paisley Town, said he was actually confuscius by the position because he no speak any lingo proper. He felt Hibs were actually dim sums. Reporter Dewar, meantime is looking a bit wong kei after peking through the window at Easter Road and concluding that their butcher had agreed terms. Kenny Cameron certainly believes she has got it ho lee wong. Mr Cameron indicated that Miss Dewar was wisky in her report. Let's hope Terry is not gung ho and Billy 'I'm going to break my peking scoring duck this Saturday in Leith' Mackay rises above this episode in our history.
  4. The job at ICT needs someone with a passion and a big heart. Someone who can get seek out mediocre players from lower leagues and make them stars. Someone who has a passion for the area and an understanding of very small player budgets. I know someone who fits the bill. Mr. T. Butcher
  5. Mixu couldn't get Finland to finish above Spain and France, he's not good enough for Caley.

What a great positive this could become if he comes back from Edinburgh tomorrow and responds in the same way as he did to Barnsley by staying with us and then signs a new 2 year deal how good will that be!! Football dreams are made of this

From what I seem to have read in the press, there has been an approach made and presumably TB as an individual asked his employer could he have a chat with the interested party. Obviously if he decides to move to Hibs I will be greatly disappointed, however how is this different to anyone outside football being approached about a new role elsewhere and potentially more money - only difference is most of us dont have to ask our boss or have it played through the media.

Right time wrong club but I wish him all the best anyway I'd be up for a 400% pay rise, who wouldn't?
  9. 1 point
Can't help thinking he's away for a valuation - might be good for the ego, and maybe a bit of ammunition for contract negotiations with his own club.

Don't believe anything that appears on Hibs.net. Lets not forget nonsense they caused with Wilson-gate!! I Believe!

One of the local journalists stating on twitter that he queried this last night and was told that the club never stated that we would refuse permission. Was wrongly reported apparently! Standard of reporting has been dodgy at best

Butcher is staying (for now)I'll put money on it. He wouldn't leave now so much to look forward to.

Hopefully he is just being polite in hearing what they have to say...

So I could be in the position that both football teams I support are looking for a new manager!
  15. FT 2-2 Impressed with pepper at right back and Gorman looks solid at centre half. Weather was wild at times, Greenhaulgh and Williams went off with injuries but hopefully they are not too serious

Maybe a mod could clarify something for me please, regarding the number of 'views' a thread gets? Are these unique views, or as I assume, total number of 'hits'? For example, I was on this thread at least 4 times yesterday - would that register as 4 views or would my IP address be recognised as having visited previously, therefore counting as just one view? This thread will pass the significant 10,000 views before too long! But still well short of the 40,000+ of the 'Butcher to Barnsley' thread...plenty of time yet! pretty accurate answer. nothing scientific about the page views just a simple counter of the number of times it is loaded. 10K views may not surpass Barnsley yet, but I think it may have reached that figure a bit quicker than the Barnsley thread did. As Yngwie noted, I also paid attention to our traffic yesterday via google analytics both the historical data which is always a few hours old and also the new "live" stats that showed me in real-time how many people were on the site and what threads were getting nailed hard. Not surprisingly the Offski thread and the New manager threads were the most viewed. They were getting loaded at a rate of 60 times per minute at one stage. What was perhaps a little surprising to me was that nearly 40% of our unique visits were coming from either smartphones (25%) or from tablets (15%) and that Safari and Chrome were the most popular browsers alongside IE10 with about 25% each and Firefox a distant 4th on just 10%. Windows is still used on 54% of computers accessing the site but iOS is nearly 30% and Android 12%. All of this does give me food for thought when we look to roll out the new version of this forum that is slated for release soon, and which will probably take a few months for us to customise and make ready for CTO. It is clear from all the aggregated info that we will have to look at responsive design elements and be very aware of the needs of both smartphone and tablet users in our layout. It would be interesting (to me at least) to get some feedback from users who may be accessing the site on iPad/iPhone, Android Phones/Tablets or with browsers like Safari and Chrome as our current design was definitely focused along large monitors and IE/Firefox compatibilities ..... but lets do that on another thread. I will post something in the tech support forum. LINK TO SUPPORT TOPIC:

credit where credit is due ... this is a good deal from an untapped market (for us).

I was wondering if Chic put a few quid on Terry being the new Hibs boss? On a more serious note though, the conduct of the BBC must be questioned over this, whatever the outcome.
  19. Four all Premiership ties. Very average draw for us, not easy and not overly exciting. May as well put my Dougie Imrie anytime goalscorer bet on now...
  20. Home to Morton, not bad! A few spl clubs paired together which makes it look interesting.
  21. Where is Eric Black these days ? Strikes me as a good coach who will be reasonably well connected within the game.

Manager Terry Butcher is taking training with the team as usual today in INVERNESS All those reports on Hibs.net that that a Hibs player's ,second cousins ,best friends Auntie had told him there would be a press conference at Easter Road today to unveil Butcher and Malpas are wrong !
  23. 1 point
The threads views stat = total hits, not unique ones. The site does though record unique visitors as well. I saw something which showed traffic yesterday (both views and unique visitors) was, unsurprisingly, massively higher than usual.
  24. Think somebody in the Hibs Camp trying to upset us before Saturdays Game!!!! Terry will stay with us I have no doubt we really should not be having this thread at the moment
  25. 1 point
Don't think Butcher realises what he's getting himself into? Alex Miller got Hibs their first cup in almost 20 years and the fans hounded him out. Not because of his negative football...... No! because of his association with a certain Glasgow club! Butch I wish you all the best, don't be surprised when they turn on you. It's not personal it's history!
  26. 1 point
Wouldn't it be cool if Terry was just stringing Hibs along so that they are less likely to have a manager in place for Saturday......

Interesting take in the Telegraph "The former England captain would appear to be a sound choice. It is understood that he is aware of the terms on offer and finds them to his liking, although there has been no official contact between the clubs". Does this mean that he has not spoken to the club but is aware of what the terms are and that Hibs are aware that he likes the terms? That would mean Butcher was being truthful when he told Kenny Cameron that he has not spoken to Hibs. Truthful maybe, but rather economical with the truth. I hope this is not how it is because it would reflect very badly on Butcher. Whatever the outcome, it is not good.
  28. 1 point
But still standing by their original statement. All depends on the outcome of the discussions between Terry and Kenny Cameron tomorrow - I truly hope he signs a new deal!
  29. 1 point
Then it must be true because the BBC are absolutely prophetic !!
  30. Think this thread is bang out of order until concrete proof of Butcher's departure is confirmed. Also the BBC need to enlighten us as to where they 'learned' of his agreement to join Hibs. Looks to me like somebody trying to stir it with the Highland upstarts.

apart from this .... http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/Sport/Football/Butcher-denies-link-to-Hibs-04112013.htm Our chairman says no approach. I know and trust our chairman so dont expect him to lie (quite apart from the refreshing fact that he doesnt have a good poker face for lies anyway!) ICT have issued a statement to the same effect and condemned the BBC story out of hand in what is quite strong language where you normally have to be quite 'diplomatic'. Courier reporting Butcher has not spoken to Hibs and denies "terms agreed". story in tomorrow's paper STV reporting that ICT will refuse permission Hibs saying nothing There are a few more twists and turns to come I am sure but ultimately I can see one of three scenarios happening .... Butcher will stay on a nice extended contract with extra cash for him, Malpas and Marsella. Interest from another club will always restart stalled salary negotiations !!! Kenny - if this happens, be careful not to use the same invisible ink pen that Steve Paterson and Duncan Shearer used to sign their bumper contracts a few years ago .... and dont let any of them near Tam Cowan. Butcher will go to Hibs and we will speculate/argue and get very vocal and nasty about how terms could be agreed before permission was given? who lied? Was this a case of shady agents or representatives agreeing terms so the principles could have plausible deniability? TB will become a pariah despite all the excellent work he has done at ICT. The Hibs interest (and media gullibility) is being used as a 'shop window' for other positions, perhaps Middlesborough? I would be comfortable with #1. I would wish him all the best if #3 happened, but #2 which seems most likely would be very hard to take. He's worked wonders up here, and should be applauded for all he has done ...... but much like Pele making a big deal over turning own Dundee Utd, signing a new ICT contract and ending up at Aberdeen a week later, this would leave a very bad taste in the mouth !!! I prefer #2. It means we get to sing the Diego Maradona song on Saturday.

If I remember rightly Pettrie will say nothing until a contract is signed. As for Chick Young I'm still waiting for Eoin Jess to sign for Rangers and Ian Hart to sign for St Mirren.
  36. Jimmy Calderwood can **** off. We should appoint Sergio Markarian. He's an Armenian-Uruguayan, was Brewsters mentor and has been a hugely successful manager in South America. Just getting in a ridiculous suggestion before Renegade logs on.

Personally feel in a really odd position in that what he has done for us has been incredible, and I'm grateful, but I'm not that gutted he has gone. Despite how well we have done some of the long ball football is atrocious to watch. We are doing so well due to the standard of players we have not tactical nous. Butcher is obviously a huge part of why these players may have come to Inverness but he is not the be all and end all and don't envisage him doing much at all at Hibs. Butcher never got the best out of the players when it mattered, be it a big cup game, or even just when a match was televised. I honestly think we now go on to get to at least cup final, finish in a European place, play well in the odd TV game and continue to dominate county. Thanks for everything Terry, but it's onward and upwards for us now

If he goes to Hibs then it can only be for the money ..... He has a job to do here, one that he has proclaimed unfinished on numerous occasions. Going to another SPFL club, a club that has routinely performed below Caley Thistle in recent seasons, but which does have the potential to (again) be one of the big boys does not present the same challenge IMHO ... and comes with a lot more pitfalls. At least 3 ICT managers have moved with the lure of a 'bigger' club and more money but found the grass was not greener ..... look up Steve Paterson, John Robertson, or Craig Brewster's (1st time around) post ICT managerial careers as reference ... or he could look up his own career post-Motherwell until he landed at the TCS. Does he really want to give up being King in his own Castle who pretty much has a job for life on his own terms and revert to being just another temporary solution until things go a little sour? I think (and hope) he has more sense than that. I could understand the pull of the Championship or the Premiership (if offered), but another SPFL club ... not so much. Do the right thing Terry. Stay at ICT and cement your status as a club legend by guiding us to our highest ever finish (again), Europe, and a national Cup.
