  1. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but despite all our pre-match concerns about card-happy Willie Column, I thought he had a really good game. Only issued 2 cards, both correctly, and got the other big decisions right (eg claim for handball v Draper). The fact that nobody's talking about the ref is always a good sign.
  2. I was in the South stand and I think I was as nervous about how it would turn out as I was about the game! A huge thank you Upland Development Ltd for funding the endeavour, to Liz MacRae and her helpers who put the stickers on the card and got them down to Glasgow (no mean feat in itself), to the club for lending us the minibus, to CJT for help coordinating it, to Jen and Joanna for driving the minibus, to everyone from Inverness and the Central Belt who gave up hours of their time to help set it out on Friday and finally to everyone in the North and East stands for taking part and making it a great success. Tansey was saying last night that the boys thought it was great and I've seen nothing but positive comments about it, so mission accomplished!! What a weekend.
  3. I think I was one of the few who openly supported Hughes from the start and without going down the "I told you so" route, I said there was something about him I liked. As a player, and then when he was on the management team at both Ayr and Falkirk I enjoyed his banter with the crowd from the sidelines. I met him briefly at the stadium just a few weeks after his appointment and my initial feeling was confirmed. Having said all this, I do have to admit that I never thought he would take us this far this fast. Yes, he inherited a great bunch of lads from the previous management team, and most of those guys are the players who won this for us, but he came in, changed the style and philosophy and got those guys to raise their game a notch or several so he has his stamp on the team too. Sometimes it wasnt pretty and I think many of us expected some growing pains but the only pain right now is on my face from smiling so much. Also want to take a moment to say some people should also perhaps say the same thing to Kenny Cameron. Our chairman took a bit of a verbal pounding at the time Hughes was appointed .... but yet again he, and our board has been shown to have made the right decision at the right time. Our various chairmen and boards have made perhaps a handful of bad decisions over 21 years but they do have a pretty good track record. That is another reason why I was comfortable with the decision at the outset. I have known Kenny for donkeys years and I don't recall him making a decision that he did not think was for the good of the club or the fans.
  4. The display required over 2 tons of card and was made up of over 9000 individual sheets....info which adds some insight into the power of work put in by Fraser, Caley Jags Together and Volunteers. Absolutely tremendous effort, especially for the first card display we've ever had (unless my brain is totally failing me).
  5. This is just another example of the unsung heroes behind the club - well done.

Ok ok who is willing to own up and admit they had a wee cry yesterday... Whether it was full on eyes streaming, or just one tear or two. I actually got all emotional after the first goal, think it was due to the tension beforehand. The second i was alright, just went a bit mental... The tears really came at Full Time though. Looking up at the screen and seeing the words 'Inverness Caledonian Thistle Scottish Cup Winners' It was a beautiful moment!
  7. At the start of the 2014-2015 season I think it's fair to say that I felt somewhat underwhelmed by what I thought we were going to be watching and how we would fair, and I think one or two others would agree that they felt the same. We didn't exactly finish the 2013-2014 season to our full potential and outwith the highlight of getting to the League Cup Final, I still had the feelings of 'what if'. I was never the biggest fan of the appointment of John Hughes, I couldn't see how he could take us forward and while I support ICT through and through I posted before the start of the season on a thread that he had 8-10 games to win me over, I also recall going as far as stating that how he conducted himself in pre/post matches interviews and with the media needed to be drastically worked on. Well the 8-10 games came and went and now I owe John Hughes a huge apology for my comments and for doubting that he could take the club forward, wow was I wrong in the biggest way possible. I genuinely believe that there are more ICT fans who felt the same way and had doubts but here's one who will openly admit he was wrong. Big man, thanks so much for this season, you and the team have massively surpassed my expectations and provided me with some awesome memories.

I'm still dehydrated, and I'm not sure whether it is from the drink or from the several pints of water it felt like I cried at full time. Didn't really expect it, I must admit - I'm usually a bit more stoical than your average X-Factor or Masterchef contestant - but I think it was a combination of the dream coming true and a release of the tension of the previous 20 minutes or so; I'd convinced myself we were going to blow it from the moment Tremarco was sent off, even after we went ahead again, and my legs totally went from under me when the final whistle blew. Absolutely magical day though, and one of the best things about it was being able to spend most of it with a combination of the close friends that I started going to see the team with in 1996, and the close friends I have made over years of ICT away days.

Still bawling my eyes out today tbh
  11. FIFA execs arrested for corruption Motherwell 6-1 Rangers ICT win the Scottish Cup Now that's what I call a good week for football!
  12. It was a flag and ICT. Great job done organising it.
  13. Couldn't believe how fantastic the ICT support was, I'm sure that helped. Yeah, we were lucky but IMHO we play a better, classier style of football. Was there with my auntie who is in her 70s and had a heart attack last year. I was just praying she wouldn't have another one in the second half! (she didn't. We went for a coffee with our ICT scarves and big silly grins on our faces for everyone to see in Central Station, then we went home wishing we still lived in Inverness). Well done ICT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Inverness is some city, so proud.
  14. Anyone else take a lucky item to the Cup Final
  15. Not really wanting to say too much other than well done guys
  16. Remember the 'crazy guy' pointing at iain Vigurs a few years ago? Was watching the game back and the camera briefly scanned the crowd - Bingo! There he is...still looking like a cross between Liam Gallagher and a hit-man!

I was greeting like a bairn....ok, maybe not the best analogy under the circumstances!!
  18. Thank you at one point i thought it was never going to work but once i had seen the photos at half time i can honestly say i am so proud of it
  19. I believe it was just shy of 15,000....and that was before any "walk-ups" on the day were added, so I suspect we might have just sneaked over that figure.
  20. They are doing things with the trophy but the players are on holiday so probably community coaches just now. I'm running a schools football tournament in Invergordon on Thursday and they are coming up with the trophy for an hour and a half. They had provisionally penciled me in depending on result in final and seemed like they had provisionally made other commitments as well. Have to say I'm pretty excited!
  21. 14,000 give or take. We now have a great opportunity to quickly re-engage with the hoards of new fans by offering the opportunity to be part of the next piece of history by attending our first European match. If we can persuade half of them to make the much shorter journey to the Longman then the stadium will be packed and bouncing.
  22. I think Tyrone must have kidnapped the two Ryans and broke into the stadium...

Cheers matey! Amazing day with great friends
  25. 30. Biggest ever gathering of ICT fans.
  26. As well as the support in the stands, Peter Paul's due some Brownie points for giving encouragement to get the noise up after Falkirk's equaliser - camera in one hand, conducting with the other!
  27. Like Scotty I too supported John Hughes from the start. and I took some stick from a number of the posters for sticking up for him. I am glad I did as he was given a hell of a time on here, Some would have him hung drawn and quartered without given trial. It infuriated me so much that I hit back at these posters hoping to make them feel a little of what they were giving to him, whether it worked or not I will never know and don't really care as the proof of the pudding was in the eating. Anyway John proved he can rise above all that, he and the Team have given us a season to remember and Inverness a chance to fully support a great Club. I just hope the chance is taken. TogetherNess rules............ICT Scottish Cup Winners and Holders.
  28. Excellent attendance and atmosphere, despite all the Glasgow naysayers predictions. A fair amount of neutrals who enjoyed a £5 ticket, and many of them apparently had a great day out. Fantastic to witness the lack of rancour, the Bairns have been very sporting, saying that if they were going to lose, they were happy it was to a team and support like us. Contrast that to the semi final!
  29. Great to see Devine staying. Thought he was outstanding on Sat, and has been whenever I've seen him.
  30. Delighted for your players, management and staff at Hampden, but especially for you, the fans! A well merited win, even though your team were not perhaps at their best. It has been a terrific season all told and I wish you well next season - especially in your first European adventure. May it be an exciting and prolonged one. Look forward to visiting Inverness again next season - I have missed our games with you in the season just ended. Hope your hangovers pass quickly and you have a great day on Sunday!

I shed a wee tear when Falkirk equalised and I thought we'd blown it! Went absolutely mental when Jamesy Vincent put us back ahead. No tears at full time, Didn't quite sink in until today at the Northern Meeting Park what we'd done. There was another wee tear or two then.
  32. Congratulations to all involved. I will volunteer to help at next year's final. It is going to be an annual event is it not???
  33. I will wait a little longer to see how he replaces the players leaving before agreeing he is truly the messiah. although this has been an exceptional season yogi is reaping the rewards for all the work the previous management team put in, finding players and getting them up to inverness.
  34. Why should he go to a lesser club ?
  35. Not only do we have a bridge and a castle, we also have a cup! And not just a cup, The Cup!
  36. Same here, being part of it on Friday I knew it would be brilliant so made sure I had somebody in the south stand to send a photo over during the game. Remember and get your photos in Scotty's Cup Final Gallery....
  37. The way we were playing in the first half I thought we were on easy street and was wondering why we were not more goals ahead. Then the 2nd half started and I got the message:- It wasn't that we were so much better than Falkirk, it was simply that their manager had told them to defend, defend,. defend in the 1st half and wear us down,.And it nearly worked for them too!. That goal by Falkirk was soooo well taken, superb connecting header IMHO. But, on balance, we were just the classier team on the day I suppose and our later goal was very well executed. Lung-bursting effort from dedicated professionals with just a wee bit of luck thrown in (their goalie palmed the ball instead of grabbing it tight). But the race goes to the swift and we just seemed to have that little something extra---even if the fickle finger of fate suspended judgment on us for the day in recognition of past efforts since our new team of ICT was created out of two small Highland league teams. What a graceful and dedicated effort the club has made since it's inception. The Cup is fantastic recognition of all the hard work, love and dedication put in by so many people on all levels. But what a lovely day out. Beautiful Hamden park on a lovely sunny day, ICT superb in the first half, drama aplenty. The fantastic card display, Willie Collum trying hard to be reasonable and actually did a pretty good job in retrospect. And the drama at the end with the sending off and the last gasp goal to our ten men. And my pal, Gary, said honestly that he really enhoyed the game and the spectacle and thought overall we were the better team and deserved our victory. Which really gave me an emotional fillip. This has been THE season to remember for a very long time. Thank you from Pimple Hall in sunny Maple Ridge , B.C. Canada.
  38. Falkirk went with a male genital region theme for theirs. That takes some balls.
  39. Well, we don't believe in making it easy for ourselves, do we? That last 10 minutes or so must have taken years off my life, and I don't have that many left to spare!! A magnificent day out made all the better by meeting up with old ICT friends, and quite a few new ones. Thanks to you all for contributing to one of the best days of my life. Just seen the card display on another thread. Well done to all concerned, a magnificent effort. I thought Watkins was our star today. He ran himself into the ground. Pity he appears not to be staying, but what a way to go!. But congratulations must go to the whole team, and management, for their achievements this season. And, its not over yet with a European adventure to come. Hope to see you all in some exotic location in late July. Can't wait till the draws done on 22 June to see who we get first.
  40. SCOTTISH CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!
  41. I went to the toilet on the 40th minute to save queuing at half time, I am not kidding the second my butt hit that seat I heard an almighty roar and immediately knew it was from our end. Kind of glad we won 2 - 1 because otherwise I would have celebrated our first cup final winner with my trousers around my ankles!
  42. Pleased as punch but we right went and stole that. Weren't in the game 2nd half at all. Was horrid. Then Carl's unfortunate slip and stone wall red followed by the equaliser...I thought it was going to be a long trip to Bruges and I was only in Gent. But a great break by Marley, lung busting late run and Vincent was in the right place, right time. I, for a moment, felt a little for Falkirk... Then remembered they got us relegated.
  43. Never thought I'd use the words "excellent" and "lenient" to describe Collum, but that's what I thought of his display on Saturday. Right from the off, he was preferring to have a quiet word instead of a card. The red was correct and he could easily have booked Greg Tansey for 3 challenges in quick succession in the 2nd half. Draper's "handball" would have been extremely harsh, given that it popped up off his toe, so again - right decision IMO. I hope he learns from this and is less card-happy from now on!
  44. The Cup Final attendance of 37,149 was more than most people would have expected for two "wee" teams. If it had been just 234 people fewer, I'm sure critics in the media would have been quick to point out that it was the lowest attendance since 1921. As it turned out, the lowest in 20 years isn't quite so bad!
  45. Exactly what Fraz said and it was a pleasure to be part of it. Just to get an idea of the monumental effort this was to achieve, it took 30 man hour to put the stickers on alone!!!!!! The squad of helpers at Hampden was amazing all working together to make the display as good as possible (and yes it was stressful especially the letters!!!) It was a huge team effort and I could not have been prouder when I saw the results. There were tears before the match even started lol.

I just wanted to post a personal note of thanks to everyone for making me feel like a regular part of the ICT family this weekend. It's not the same following the team from over 3,000 miles away but you all made me feel like a regular. Any time you find yourselves headed to Canada please feel free to look me up so I can return the favour. Jon
  47. should have gone to the bog again in the second half and saved us all a lot of pain!

Slightly off topic, an in-depth interview with Ronny Delia. The reporter is banging on about Aberdeen, big Ronny retorts that they are the best team he has seen 'besides Inverness' in Scotland! Predictably, the BBC jobsworth completely ignores this response, and quickly asks yet another question about the Dons. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/32673556
